Subject: Don't bother with the camp

"Can I take the first watch then i can combine it with meditation. Is there anything I should look out for inperticular?"

"I do not think that is wise," Arrowhawk said plainly. "The point with the watch is to keep your eyes and ears well open, not to shut your senses." Arrowhawk had only just noticed the two he was looking for and apparently they had been joined by an elf. The mention of spending the watch in meditation sounded to him like sleeping on a guard duty.
"I do not think we have been introduced," he said to the elf. "I am called Arrowhawk and I prefer to stand guard with someone who I can trust to be fully aware of her surroundings."

Subject: True... and not so much...

Yes, CE characters run a great risk of leaning towards Lawful as long as they stay together as a group. But thinking that they are doomed to become Lawful should be avoided. Just because they are CE doesn't mean they can't work together. I personally think Alignment is overrated in a sense that DMs tend to look at individual incidents rather than the whole. If a CE character saves his buddy while slaughtering a village of halflings I would still say that he is CE. And yes, CE guys and gals can have friends just like anybody else and they can value that friendship. It is how they behave overall that should matter.

Alignment is overrated IMO.

Subject: First Session

So we had our first session last night. It turned out that they were interested enough by the idea that they would like to continue. Unfortunately, one of the players won't be able to game until 9-10 pm, which means we will be half-asleep before we finish. That is what happened last night.

Also, I have never seen as many fumbles in one encounter as last night. Warriors were dropping weapons, weapons were getting sliced in half, and mages were falling to the ground. It was getting difficult to find an original bad luck, and being very tired didn't help. Every player fumbled at least once and I as a DM fumbled at least twice.

So they met with the Goblin called Gafts who offered them his service in taking over the world so that he could "see a life-long dream come true". He sent them after a tribal leader who had already conquered all the tribal-lands and was about to launch an attack at the world with the massive army he had taken over. By killing him, the group of villains would effectively take over the whole tribal army. We didn't manage to get that far, but we did finish a battle with seven goblinoids. Apparently, they are playing sadistic characters since they tortured those who they captured alive and then killed them. It was really messy and meant as a message to the tribal-leader.
Best of all, it was fun, even though we were about to fall asleep most of the time.

Subject: Good advice

It's a good advice. One of the evil players is also going to DM a good campaign for the same group (with me as a player this time) so we can switch between sessions if we get bored or anything.

Two of these evil players have already tried once (or twice) playing evil characters and they found it really fun and interesting, which is probably why they wanted an evil campaign to start with. It ended in the death of everyone except these two players as one of them killed the rest in their sleep but spared the last one. Something about her overhearing the others planning on killing her but the one who was then spared didn't like the idea. I think it was their favorite time roleplaying

Anyway, yes there might be some grudge if they start killing each other, although I think they aren't the sort of group that will become seriously angry and leave the group entirely. That is why I decided to throw in the bit where the goblin tells them that taking over the world isn't something they can do on their own.

Subject: Oh, the smell!

The smell was revolting enough that a Khord would be forced to throw up. Thankfully the three fishmen didn't notice anything. They walked passed Vidar and continued into the caves towards where he had gotten back his weapons. There was no doubt that they would notice the fishmen he had killed earlier. Why didn't he think of hiding them?

At any rate, Vidar had to move fast before they would think of returning. Thankfully he managed to restrain himself from puking again while he searched the pile for anything resembling a shield. At last he found something he could use. It was a moldy goblin shield. The Khord looked at it and wasn't sure if it could hold itself together against a powerful hit, but it was better than nothing.
He sheathed his sword and took hold on the shield. It would be unwise to return to where he just came, so going in the direction of where the three fishmen were coming from seemed to be the most logical choice of advancing. He exited the cave into the tunnels and held a firm grip on his axe. He could still smell the foul stench from before.

Topic: Evil Campaign
Subject: Evil Campaign

So I didn't know where else to put this. I pretty sure non of my players check out these forums so it should be pretty much safe.

Here's the deal. This group which I am about to DM want to play an evil campaign and I'm not going to argue. They are all going to play CE characters because they think there isn't enough freedom in playing Lawful. Again, I'm not arguing.
The problem is, what kind of hoops can I make them jump through? It isn't easy planning a campaign for a group of evil scumbags. So what I'm asking is basically a small feedback on the ideas I've had so far.

It starts with a contact with an old goblin (perhaps a blue goblin as in the EPH) who claims that he has foreseen the four of them conquering the world. However, only one of them will rule it in the end, but it will take the power of all four to actually take it over. He tells them that in order for this prophesy to come true he will become their loyal servant and advicor.
In truth, there is no prophesy. The goblin is after an artifact which will give him divinity which he will then use to kill the last living PC once they have killed each other over who will rule the world. If and when they find out about the upcoming backstabbing, they will hopefully have reached far enough for the goblin to become unnecessary for their world conquest.

The world this takes part in is divided almost equally into two large continents with seriously vast ocean between them. That ocean also holds many islands, which will spice up the travel from one continent to the other. The continent where the PCs start is heavily influenced by the negative plane while the other is equally influenced by the positive plane. This means that the PCs first opponents will be other evil people. On that continent they will get the chance to build their starting empire and army. They would then lead the army over the vast ocean (meeting dangers and weird homebrewed creatures on the way) and to the other continent which they will then conquer. On that continent is the previously mentioned artifact, well hidden from the common eye.

The first part of the campaign is their own continent. There they must first gain control over an army. The easiest way to do this is by defeating the leader of a chaotic tribe. Once that has been done, they must defeat (preferably kill) the five overlords (of Eeevil!) and the minor lords will then follow the PCs' lead.

The second part will be the ocean with many islands and sea-battle (possibly the longest part), and the third part will be the opposite continent where they must battle heroes, archons and the other forces of good. It is possible that there will be a fourth part where the goblin has ascended to divinity and the PCs must defeat him and his forces. By the end of the third part, I expect the players to travel from lvl 7 up to epic level.

Any feedback? Ideas? Pointless rambling, much like what I have been doing up 'til now? Comments?
The four players are playing a Paladin of Slaughter (UA variant), Favored Soul of Nerull, Lolth worshiping human sorceress, and possibly a rogue or something like that. The fourth player hasn't decided as far as I know.

Arrowhawk looks Saiden in the eye and grins. The grin is bleak and without expression, almost forced, like it was only meant as a polite gesture. "Fair enough. I hope that you understand that I have a problem trusting murderers."

The bridge was hardly much. An army attempting to cross it would be at a disadvantage should it meet the kind of resistance that was waiting on the Red Duke's side. At first Arrowhawk did not see their two comrades anywhere, but he did have the tendency to overlook things when he was not really looking. "Do you see them, Saiden?" he asked his traveling companion.

James might be a killer, but Arrowhawk was certain that he was right. If the others wouldn't get back soon they would all be in trouble. He continued unpacking but turned to Saiden. "You are Saiden, if memory serves. Or is your name Kelan? I have a bad habit of forgetting who's name belongs to who. In any case, we have not yet been properly introduced. They call me Arrowhawk." Arrowhawk offered his hand. "I'm going out to get the others. Care to join me?"

"You don't trust him, eh? If he was lying then what he did or is intending to do must be much worse then the tale he told. If he is lying then god help us all."

Arrowhawk turned to Saiden as he emptied his bags. "I believe his story, there is no reason not to. Being reformed however is easier said than done. A man who has killed another and gotten away with it might just as well attempt it again." Suddenly, James appeared through the entrance of the tent.

"If you truly believe that I am lying about being reformed, or that I would steal from, or otherwise harm any of you, take this and kill me with it."

Arrowhawk looks at him with a surprised look. As much as he tried to look like a tough guy who had seen it all, he did not expect that. That look turned back to the resolved look that was before. Arrowhawk walked up to James and took the dagger. In a swift motion the blade was at James's throat, only barely touching him. "Make no mistake James," Arrowhawk said, "if the time comes that I am proven right, something really might puncture through your neck. Until that time we are considered comrades, so we best should act like it." Arrowhawk handed him back his dagger and finished unpacking.

"You give your trust too freely, James. I have only just met you and already you have confessed to a murder and to a theft of one's identity." Arrowhawk says the name of the soldier with a touch of irony to the voice, like knowingly saying it as if it was fake. "These are serious crimes you have committed. You trust me not to spread the news to our officers, but what evidence do I have that I can trust you not to kill and rob the rest of us?" Arrowhawk was dead serious as he spoke. There was no hint of humor in his words. He was not sure he could trust that man.

Arrowhawk looked the soldier in the eyes with a serious look. "If you can trust me well enough that I will not spread the words of your crimes," he said with a whisper, "you can trust equally well that if I even suspect that you will attempt to do me harm, I will not show you the same mercy you showed Rydell." Arrowhawk stood up and walked towards the tent he was supposed to stay in for the coming months. He had yet not picked his sleeping space.

"I don't know what kind of soldiers the man in the armor thinks we are, but this isn't from a routine fight, and a medic couldn't help me. I'll tell you what happened, but I need some way of knowing you won't spread it around."

Arrowhawk showed no facial reactions to the man's words but spoke once he had finished. "I am new at this camp. There is no one here to spread it to and spreading anything randomly is not of my interest. Now tell me, what happened?"

"I'm going to take a better look at the bridge does anyone want to come with me?" Intil asked the rest of the group.
"I think I will pass," Arrowhawk replied while keeping a stern look at the wounded soldier. "I agree that these soldiers may have been fighting each other, but why is beyond me. As far as I know there has not been such a long time since they saw some action, but any wounds should have been taken cared of by now. A simple fight to blow off some steam may not be the case here. The reason might lay deeper than that and I intend to find out what it is."

Arrowhawk walked up to the wounded soldier and although there might have been an empty seat for him to sit in he simply stood over him. "I could not help but notice that your arm is wounded. Would you like me to get a medic to assist you?"

Subject: Vidar

For a moment or two Vidar followed the tunnels. They seemed to have been worked on a little, but it wasn't well done and hard to notice without knowing such things as Khords know stone. Then a foul stench caught Vidar's attention. The smell was strong enough to force tears into the Khord's eyes. It looked like a storage where all kinds of foul fish and leftover were kept. There were bones from creatures smaller than the average Khord, and from creatures larger than a company of Khords, and from many creatures of as many sizes in between. There were weapons there, but even with but a glance most of them seemed useless.

Then the Khord heard a sound of someone walking towards the room from the opposite direction. Vidar heard there was at the very least one, but chances were that they were two or more. Vidar was in no shape to fight many of them, and as much as his pride told him that he could take all of them, he himself knew better. He quickly hid behind the pile, which was hard enough because of the foul smell. He quickly looked over the pile to see if there was anything in it that he could use as a shield, and then he waited for a better view of those fishmen who were coming.

“Not all of us are house Deneith. She speaks for herself when she promises not to hurt an ungrateful idiot. Do you think House Daask would leave a fat innkeeper and an elf as witnesses to the murder of a member of house Deneith? Be grateful we were the victors, shut your mouth, and get to scrubbing. When Daask comes in again in a week or two, and kills another of your patrons for reasons unknown, and your cleaning that blood. Remember your decision tonight.” Draven's words strike a fright into the barkeep who says nothing in return. His eyes are fixed on this dark warrior, yet he does not want them to.
“I would think an elf as yourself could find something more fitting to do then scrub orc blood off a tavern beside your bumbling master. Think on it.” Draven's later words are aimed at the elven maid, who answers nothing but with a blush and turns away. The barkeep wants to yell after him as Draven walks out with his company, but holds his tongue instead.

They arrive at their headquarters, a rather small apartment in the corner of one of the larger towers. There is but one window and one door. On the other side there is a balcony with a poor view. The headquarters have a single fireplace with a large pot hanging over it, a single table and six chairs. A single lamp hangs above the table, providing extra light when needed. The room stretches forward into a hallway with three doors leading into three rooms. Through one of these rooms one can get out onto the balcony, but the week-long rain has made that an undesirable place to be.

The still silent figure slowly raised his head as his superior asked for his name. His brown eyes could only partly be seen through his dark untidy hair. He had no armor and his tanned body was only covered by ragged mantle and black traveler's pants.

"Forgive me, sir," he said calmly and respectfully. "I regret that I can not give you the name I was given by my parents, for with rebirth of a person there should also be a rebirth for one's name. The name I chose at my rebirth is Arrowhawk, and by that name I wish to be recognized."
