Subject: Bump...

Because nothing happened around this game today, and I'm really bored (no classes today and nothing to do except monitoring RDInn) so I decided to point out a little something.

Like I already said, but you may not remember, quality posts are not mandatory, so one-liners are alright if that is all you've got. But, this game will include Drama Bonus which is a modified version of Exalted's Stunt Bonus. Basically, better quality posts will grant you +1 bonus to all rolls involved in your posts.

So, what do you think?

And if there are any questions you'd like to ask before the game really gets going, time is getting short.

Alrighty, I only read the first part of the first chapter and the prologue. I admit that I'm not much of a reader and although the story seems promising there are few things that sting my eyes as I read it.

First of all, before you want to try to publish this, you should look out for your spelling, grammar and punctuation. One of the more notable things I'd like to point out is the "little own" frase you've used several times already. I bet you mean "let alone" since the other one just doesn't make any sense to me.

I also got the feeling of a Mary Sue when you were describing your heroine. Beautiful, strong despite her looks and the greatest rogue you'll find anywhere. She doesn't take jobs that anyone else could do but she doesn't mind that a halfling got as far as she did.

Also, that halfling seems the kind that has attitude, but just shrugs when someone throws knives at him. That shoulder wound sounded like a real pain but he is still very calm.

Overall, I think the story has great potential and that you certainly should keep working on it. But I'm not going to tell you that it does not need work, because it certainly does.

This game is for those who are bored, much like me right now. You start your post with "I'm so bored..." and then end the sentance with something you'd could do to end your boredom, however ridiculus it might be. Sorta like "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse."

I'll start with an example:

I'm so bored I could watch Teletubbies.

Yes, I am expecting you to just write your characters in however you see fitting. I don't want you to start in a situation that is not fitting for your character or that you don't want to be in.

I won't need any more information about your family than what you think I should know. I might add a thing or two myself, but I'll ask you about it later if I do.
As for your Spirit Contacts, they are mine to command and create, so you'll have no idea who/what your contacts exactly are. It's mine to know and yours to not

I'd recommend that you'd only send a part of your literary works if you're afraid that someone might steal them from you.

I don't know anything about any publishers or publishing companies save for some here in Iceland, and I gather that won't do you any good.

I have written some short stories myself (nothing published though), so I'll be willing to give you some constructive criticism if you like.

Subject: Game started

I've created the game thread. If you have a character ready and accepted, you can start posting. The game is for enjoyment and fun, although it may be dark and gritty at times, so try not to take it too seriously.

You may start anywhere you want to start. If you can't think of a place, make one up or contact me. Vorrioch did include a good link where you could find maps and perhaps interesting locations in above-ground Rome. If Necropolis is your choice of origin, the Kindred (vampires) often have dark and bloody reflection of what Romans had above ground. But if you're still not sure, feel free to ask.

Enjoy

Note: This game is translated into modern English for easier reading, with all the appropriate sensorship. Quality of the translation may vary. Enjoy the reading

Welcome to Rome. The year is 336, the Roman Empire reaches from Britain to East Africa. In the whole Empire, Rome is the only place considered civilized, at least by Roman standards. Constantine unified the Empire in 327 and has been Emperor since.

Welcome to Necropolis. The one true city of the dead. Located underneath Rome, Necropolis is forever dark haven for the undead. Without torches, nothing can be seen in the dark corridors. The Camarilla is in control of the deep dark city of Necropolis, and the Senex is in control of the Camarilla. The Senex is the law of Necropolis, and the Legio Mortuum, the Legion of the Dead, is its muscles.

Some of Rome's senators have turned up dead as well as few members of the Senex and the Legio Mortuum. Murdered is the term. Rumours are abound in Necropolis about monsters worse than the Kindred hiding in the city's dark corners. Rumours about political scandals and even usurpation have risen as well. Rumours about pretty much anything have made appearances among the citizens of Necropolis, but they are agitated and paranoid. Something's out there, and it's not even being subtle in what ever it's doing.

Things are bad and they are about to get worse.

You start the game where ever you want, seperated or together. As soon as I have accepted your character you'll be allowed to start post in this game. And I do know I overused the word "dark" in the intro post. Try and live with it

This just came up with one of the characters. I'd really prefer if you'd stick to the Clan Disciplines. Each Clan has three Clan Disciplines, one of which is sort of a Clan only Discipline (in the book they are written in italics). These "Clan only Disciplines" are completely off limits to a starting character of a different Clan. So a starting Nosferatu can begin the game with dots in the Nightmare Discipline but not in the Dominate, Majesty, Auspex, or Protean Disciplines.

Since some of you don't have the books where this information can be found, I'll be happy to help you figuring this out.

The Clan's disciplines are the Clan's secret and they won't give it away lightly. If you want to learn them, you'll need someone to teach you.

Just finished my plans for the first segment of this game, so as soon as I've got at least 2 PCs we are ready to begin

I will probably make you begin separated and not in a group. That is because the Wings sometimes opose each other. Despite that, I want all your characters to at the very least know of each other from your time before the game starts. You may not be best of friends, you may have only met once, you may even hate one another. I simply want you to know each other's names
If you don't like the idea, just let me know. This isn't a must.

It's a cool idea for a character. You might even have them act as your Herd Merit if you decide to take it. Even if you don't, it's still a cool idea

The links are cool too, but like I've said more than once already you don't need to know these things for this game. I might make use of it though

Subject: Generations of the Requiem Q&A

Alrighty, in this thread you can find everything you need to know for the game Generations of the Requiem, and if you can't find it feel free to ask about it. This thread is also for OOC chat and for you to say how great I am in as much detail as needed. If you are not already a player in this game, feel free to join in at any time

First, consider this information:
World of Darkness core book = WoD
Vampire the Requiem core = VtR
Requiem for Rome source book = RfR

Secondly, houserules. There won't be many, but keep these in mind:
Resources - This Merit is limited to max 2 for starting characters unless you also have the Noble Heritage Merit found in RfR on page 111.
Haven - Normally a single Merit, is now divided into three seperate Merits: Haven [Location], Haven [Security] and Haven [Size], all of which can be maxed at rating of 5.
Status - You start the game with a free point in Status (Camarilla) and another free point in Status (Wing of your choice). You are, however, not allowed to increase these Merits at Character Creation (but you can do so later with XP or role-play).
Merits - You can earn Merits in two ways: with role-play (RP Merits) and by spending XP (XP Merits). RP Merits are easy to get but just as easily lost. You might get an Ally in the Legio Mortum with clever use of role-playing, but the next day he might be found dead in an alley without explaination. XP Merits are harder to get and just as hard to get rid of. Only dramatic moments in the game will make you loose XP Merits and they are never coincidental. RP Merits can be made into XP Merits by simply spending XP.
Blood Potency - Starting characters start with Blood Potency 1. There is nothing you can do to start with higher Blood Potency in this game.
Specialties - These are now universal. That is to say, no Specialty applies to only a single Skill but to all of them if appropriate. Your "Pistols" Specialty would thus apply to your Firearms roll with pistols, and your Academics roll if you were researching pistols, and your Investigation roll if pistols had been used at the crime-scene.

Thirdly, Characters. I'd like you to write up your characters and PM/e-mail them to me. I think it would be cool if you keep your stats secret from the other players, but if you prefer making them public you can post them here. What I'd like from you are a few things:
Stats - Write them up however you like, but don't forget anything. Please make them clear so that I can read them. If anything is missing or generally wrong I'll ask you about it. Make note that Roman Period Skills are not the same as present day Skills. You can find the Requiem for Rome character sheet on the White Wolf webpage.
Description - A short description of your character's looks and personality.
History - Who was your character before the Embrace? Was he a gladiator? A slave? A senetor? A soldier? A barbarian? Who Embraced him? Why? Where is your sire now? Anything you'd like us to know could be added here.
Make note that you have only been a vampire for a year at most.

Fourthly, antagonists. This is a short list and description of what you might come accross in Rome or Necropolis (or later in the game):
Vampires - It's true, other Kindred are out to get you. Or at least, that's what some of them tend to think. Truth is, there are some Kindred who will try to kill you if it makes them somehow profit.
Werewolves - Werewolves exist in packs among the barbaric nations. Some of them might join the Roman legions, but only rare few are ever seen in Rome itself.
Mages - You might find one in Rome, if you search for a week or two and are extremely lucky. Unless they openly use their power, Mages are easily overlooked.
Prometheans - They are naturally hated and rarely if ever stop for long in the same place. If you ever see one in Rome, you'll probably never see him there again.
Changelings - If they exist in Rome, no Kindred knows how to find one. As food they are sought after as they are rumored to taste like any color of the rainbow.
Hunters - These are the ones to look after. Although only mortal, anyone could be a hunter and they could be anywhere.
Others - There are other things that can be found in the darkest corners of Necropolis. Some speak of mindless undead, or moving shadows, but this is mostly just rumours. Mostly.
I'll update this list as we move through the game

Fifthly, I will try to make this game fairly open. According to the official setting of World of Darkness, the Camarilla will fall with the Roman Empire. On the other hand, that does not need to be the case. You could actually stop the Camarilla's fall or revive it later. This game will not require much knowledge of history since your characters can greatly influence the history of the world. You are also free to do pretty much what you want, although I will have a certain main plot and some (hopefully) interesting minor plots.

Sixthly (and now I'm just sounding silly), the game is set in later half of the Roman Empire, in the year 336 AD. That means your characters were embraced no earlier than 335 AD. Just some numbers I'd like to throw at you
The periods which I intend to include in this game are:
-the Roman Period and fall
-Dark Ages and/or Crusades
-Victorian Age
-Early 1900's
-Present time
Seriously, if there is any moment or period in history you would like me to add to this list, feel free to let me know

I think this is all you need to know for this game, and probably alot you really don't need to know. If there are any questions, historical or system-wise, feel free to ask away.

When I said "has access to your car" I was talking about your wife or a family member. Two weeks is plenty of time to find and forget about an iPod, and if you hardly ever use the back-seat I'm surprised you found it at all

And just so you know, there is more to life than work. If all you can think about is the lot where you work you need to cut down the hours man

Topic: Wanna hear some crazy stuff?
Subject: My few cents

The first one is a simple one. You must have dropped it in your car, then someone who has access to your car finds it and puts it in the back-seat. There were good three days between losing the iPod until you found it, right? Plenty of opportunities for someone else to swoop in and find it in one of those overlooked places. Also enough time to forget about it too.

The other one is a bit more of a mystery. I bet you will eventually find another copy of the video game lying somewhere amidst unsorted stuff. The one you later found in your mailbox was, most likely, another copy that was accidentally sent to you.

Those are the only logical ideas I can think of. Of course, when every logical idea has been proven wrong the illogical one, regardless of how absurd it may sound, is often the correct one.

Had this idea this morning while lying in bed. Not sure if anyone else had this idea already or if it was planned all along.

Since a comic is planned for the Inn, how about a specific forum dedicated to it? Much like the General Forum, with maybe two sub-forums; one dedicated to the RDI comic and the other to comics in general. Or maybe just add a RDI comic sub-forum to the General Forum list. A comic needs discussion forum for constructive feedback and for the readers to get wrong ideas about the plot. Just an idea.
