Ask your questions if you got 'em, 'coz soon we'll be blastin' out of atmo and deep into the black. (And by soon, I mean few more weeks. Still aimin' for the game to start shortly after 13th of May.)

This here is the Questions & Answers Thread for the upcomin' game, Dragonfly in the Black (it's a workin' title). If you ain't yet a player, you ain't checked out the recruiting thread yet

So come on here and ask your questions. There ain't no guarenty that I can answer them, but I will if I can and there are other players that might if they know the answer.

If you ain't got no question, mighty fine luck you have then.

Subject: Update's in

I've updated. Shounin has expressed his lack of interest in playing his character. He is considering to introduce a new character, but William the Werewolf is now an NPC.

Speaking of which, William has just entered a frenzy state. There are at least 3-4 homeless guys in this room alone, perhaps more as he gets higher up. Unless they somehow get out, William is about to kill them all, as soon as he has dealt with the woman who shot him. That should give Ren enough time to run away

I'm pushing Syanide into Ren's storyline. Had to rush through some minor events, but I hope you don't think it is too crappy
Just to make a note, Syanide is outside, Ren and raging William are inside.

Ghost
Father Winter's Dream

Father Winters looked down upon his own body, and then at the intruding "Doctor" as he was being ripped apart by Hiram. He listened as Hiram spoke, and somehow he didn't seem very surprised by all this.

"I have to ask for your forgiveness," he said as he stared at Hiram's recreation of events, "but I thought doctor Einhart was trying to make fun of me. You see, not many people believe in the things that I do."

"But this is beyond my ability, I'm afraid. But I know some people who might be able to help. You may not have time to wait for my recovery, so call 555-2610 and ask for Meldon. He might know..."

The scenery crumbled as Hiram was forced out of Winters's dreamworld. The process was painful, even for a ghost such as Hiram. As the recreation of Einhart's office had crumbled, Hiram found himself down in the boiler-room. There was no fire in the boiler, yet Hiram could have sworn that he heard painful screaming coming from inside it.

Two men walked into the room. Hiram recognized one of them as Philip Walker, one of the guards, but the other seemed to be a patient. They spoke in tongues, and as they walked closer to the boiler, fire lit up within it. They touched the boiler with their open palms, and the boiler burned their flesh. Hiram could hear someone whispering angrily, and the two men looked straight at Hiram with their mindless eyes.

Vampire
Loftstreet, Olf Longchester

Upon seeing Ren's visage, the man stared for only a fraction of a second before he started running. He ran as fast as his feet would carry him up the stairs, his screams followed in his path.

As he ran up, another came running down. A woman dressed in more fitting clothes, holding a large sub-machine gun. From where she stood at the top of the stairs, she started shooting at William. Ren couldn't count exactly how many she fired, but he watched as the Werewolf took couple of bullets in his torso and then stumble backwards.

Ren could see the rage boil from within William who quickly shifted into another form. His clothes ripped apart from his bulging muscles and his body expanded considerably. This place would soon be flowing with blood of his victims.

Vampire
?

It had finally stopped raining. Syanide was offered some petty reward for his part in taking down that Vampire along with Herst and Jed, and then sent away.

As instructed by Marcus, the leader of the Invictus, Syanide was supposed to report back to him any information he found important to share with him. Of course, holding back any sort of information from Marcus was a dangerous game to play, and so Syanide told him everything he could think of.

He told Marcus how they had resolved to fight with the unidentified Vampire, but he made a special note on how the Vampire did not turn to dust but instead turned to billows of smoke and dark slimey goo. After making his report, he was offered to feed and to heal his wounds, as minor as they may have been.

"I want you to contact Baron Ren Majere," Marcus said after Syanide's feeding. "I then want the two of you to investigate this and report back to me about anything you find. You should find him at his club, Dark Nirvana."

Of course, Ren was not in the club, but his goons were able to give Syanide some directions, after some persuasion of course.
At last he got to Loftstreet in Old Longchester. There he heard a powerful howl of a wolf coming from one of the houses.

Subject: Do not get me started

We could argue about this for many days to come, but the fact is that I did kill this game not because you wouldn't jump through the hoops that I wanted you to but because you wanted to play characters that would rather kill each other than work together.

And I am not pointing at any single one of you specifically. As some of you have already told me, you were just posting in character, and I respect that as well as prefer it that way. On the other hand, posting in character would undoubtly end with the death of one or more PCs by the hand of another player and that is unacceptable.

Point A: Cage walks around the room and shoots defeated Extras, just because he had nothing else to do and it fits the character.
Point B: Eztli attacks Cage because Eztli hates liking what he saw Cage do and blames Cage for it. Note that Eztli uses lethal force. This is all in character says GT, which I doubt based on previous events.
Point C: GT switches Eztli's lethal force into non-lethal. Still in character says GT and I do not argue this.
Point D: Here's where things would undoubtly go to hell if I would not have ended the game. Based on previous events, the most logical thing for Cage to do after being attacked (with lethal or non-lethal force) would be to attack back with lethal force. Anything else wouldn't have been logical. Even if Eztli would continue using non-lethal force, Cage should logically use lethal force. The guy is insane and judging by the player's last post he loves to inflict pain for no real reason. This time he has reason.

If I would somehow manage to stop the fight before it ended with someone's death, for example by introducing another enemy, who is to say that it wouldn't be in character for the characters to continue the fight afterwards?

One player said that it is the GM's job to stop this kind of infighting before they would get out of hand. Perhaps that is right, but no less true is the fact that it is the Players' job to make characters who don't fight each other to death.
Based on the character's you made for this game, it would be too much pressure for any GM to be assumed to stop every single stupid act that you would think of because you think it fits the character.

I thought I had players that were mature enough for their characters to join together by themselves, that I wouldn't need to introduce some massive patron to keep you all together against the villain. Obviously, I thought wrong.

Do not think I killed the game because I couldn't control your characters. I killed it because you are too immature to play in a mature game.

Can I please tell you how disappointed I am?

Shounin, who really should have posted, did not post and due to his failure to do so he is now stuck somewhere in the middle of the Alps. It is too early to be getting rid of PCs and getting new ones, so you can still play him if you like.

Tesseract did good with Jacob, and I'm giving him 2SB for it and 1 XP. Actions that are not rolled can also be stunted and he did a good job in my oppinion.

Weekend is doing some random and pointless killings. I did note in the second post of this thread that I prefer that you don't act like you're 12> years old. I admit that it was better than what you initially intended to post, but pointless killings are just that. They are completely pointless and don't belong in this game. Avoid it if you can, but post it if you can't.

Dear me, I bet I'm about to be smitten by this

Arashi could see the train getting out of his reach, almost as if it was all in slow motion. But then, his back hit the ground and he felt a sharp pain all over. He rolled along with the ground to avoid too much pain, but when he got up he could feel the pain in his back. He stood, somewhere in the mountain area, and watched as the train moved further and further away.

Trista watched as Jacob took the reigns of the Band and told them about the danger in the next cart. He was of course right, Trista had a fairly good idea of what was in that cart. She was about to open her mouth when a shotgun blast broke her consentracion. She looked towards Cage as he moved from one body to another and shooting rather randomly. The man was insane, but he had some potential.

"These men deserve nothing less," she said with a slight smile towards Cage, "not after what they have done. These men have been poisoned with eitr. There are only two ways to save them; by killing them or the Giant they are bound to."

Subject: What I hate

I hate it when I'm GMing two games using a similar, yet different, systems and then somehow mix the two systems together. That is what happened to Shounin's character.

In order to Botch in WoD, you need to be reduced to a chance die and that die needs to come up as 1. As much as I think that is silly and unlikely to happen, I haven't houseruled the Botching bit. That is not what happened to Shounin. I mixed up and used the Botching rule that is used in most other games from White Wolf, such as Scion.

Point is, there shouldn't have been a Botch at all. I am going to redo a part of round where William dropped his weapon and where he got shot. The attack is still a miss and the Willpower point is still spent, but at least you have your weapon.

Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Subject: The update

The game has been updated.

Hiram has entered Father Winter's dreamworld, but he can't stay there for long since he is technically possessing him. As soon as the ambulance has left the area where Hiram can wander around, Hiram is instantly forced out of Winter and back into the hospital.

Ren mended his wound and spent 1 Vitae to do so.
EDIT: Got additional 4 successes on your Frenzy-resisting roll, so frenzy is rolled completely until another source of anger is presented (such as if you are shot again).

William botched his attack roll. Not only did he drop his weapon (retrieving it counts as an action) but the Crushing Blow has been paid for and there is no refund. The attack was not an extra penalty tied to the botch, and the part about William turning his back to the assailant was just for flavor.

Ghost
Longchester Hospital for the Insane

The ambulence arrived at last, and Hiram entered Father Winter's subconcince with ease. He wouldn't be able to stay there for long. As soon as the ambulence would leave the hospital's premises, Hiram would be violently forced back to the hospital.

The mind seemed blank, an overwhelming darkness covering everything. The priest hadn't started to dream just yet. The darkness started to take shape and form, a blinding light at the end of the tunnel. The priest started moving towards the bright light. The wound on his neck had disappeared, and there was no blood on his clothes. He was heading towards the light at the end of the tunnel, Heaven was within his reach.

Vampire & Werewolf
Loftstreet, Old Longchester

Ren could feel his body expelling the bullet from inside his body, and his wound knitted together like someone mending a shirt at an ultra speed. His rage had gone, pushed back by determination to finish the job.

While Ren was mending his wound, William rushed towards the man while reaching down for his Silver Knuckles. But as he pulled his hand back out of the pocket, the man shifted his position away from William's trusted arm.

As William was distracted by his failure to hit his target, the man fired his weapon yet again but this time at William. He felt the hot lead pierce his skin just below the back of his left shoulder. It took a moment before William could feel the pain that the bullet caused him, but as it did he could feel his rage boil. He pushed the rage aside, concentrating on his target as he heard another man running down the fragile stairs.

So good to know that my threads can actually be used for something, even if it is hijacked and the discussion changed completely.

I think that "last post wins" games is becoming a tad bit too much. I don't think that your posting counts should go down, however, since these count how often you have posted and not how many of your posts have not been deleted.
