Questions about the characters are welcome here in this thread. Questions regarding the setting, rules/house-rules, the story and such are prefered in the Q/A thread. So technically, by my standards, all is fine.

After a week I will be away to London and I doubt I'll use the internet at all while I'm there. I'll be staying there only for about 5 days (back to Iceland on the 5th day) but after that I'll start packing for yet another move, this time to the capital where I'll be going to a university (yay!). Point is, if we can start this thing early this week I might actually be able to update before I leave to London and again before I start moving. Just to point things out.

Just wanted to point out that this is now the number one most posted recruiting thread on the Inn. No doubt has there been one with more posts before the big server crash (talk about it like a historical event) but this has received most posts after it.

Yay for us.

...so good.

Philo, your backstory looks good. I have nothing against your character so far. But (there's always a but) your backstory got me thinking. The Kalashtar often take psionic classes, and since your character studied under one such, there's the option of your character taking levels in such class and work through his blindness through various fears. This is just an idea in case the blind master is unworkable.

I'm still waiting for over half the characters (Grugg, Philo, Ayrn and Valimar) but as soon as they are ready I think we are about good to start.

I'm gonna roll with Powerful Enemy, with that enemy being Nel's father. That Dangerous Secret of yours won't make much of a difference to your comrades and wouldn't make much impact on your surroundings (except perhaps to the House Deneith, but Powerful Enemy kinda covers that anyway.
Nel's father won't attempt to kill her but might attempt to make her life a hard one. He has the connections in House Deneith since he is a high ranking officer.

At roleplaynexus they say that for every two flaws you get one bonus feat, but I'm gonna go with what says in the UA book that one flaw gives you one bonus feat. You can not begin play with more than 2 flaws and that is final. You can get flaws later on though.

Alright, Adysine is now 2gp poorer (which isn't all that much really considering what she can earn per month). I got you a poor residence home in the same district as the home base. High enough to avoid the muggers and beggars plaguing the lower city and close to the base in case of emergency.
Other than that it is pretty much the same as I described.

The detailed description is the home base, I thought you asked for that since everyone was talking about it as poor because I told them not to expect anything fancy. My misunderstanding. The lesser detailed one is the poor residence that you can rent for 2gp/month. The size and the description of the actual apartment wouldn't change but I could shift it to another district higher from the ground (where there are less muggers, beggars and rats). Again, sorry about that

Still want to spend that 2gp?

2gp will get you a small home at best in the Lower City. A room and a fireplace, with no bathroom, and the streets are overrun by muggers and beggars and rats (check the Sharn Inquisitive in the Q/A thread to see why). That is probably the best you can get for 2gp.

On a side note, this is now the second most posted recruitment thread. Huzzah!

Subject: Housing

It's in the Middle City, a middle class house with three rooms, two beds in each. There is a small dining room with a small brick-oven and a round table with six chairs. This house has a small balcony which has its view blocked by the large towers surrounding this one. The balcony is entered through one of the rooms. Other than the balcony there is no window and no other exit except for the front door. There is a bathroom, but no bathtub, which is entered on the opposite end of the dining room from the oven. The house/apartment is as clean as you bother to have it and is entered from the outside of the tower it is built in. It's in the Broken Arch district in Middle Dura.

Like I said, if you want to buy your own homes you can do that. I even included the pricing list on page 7 for you to use. Housing is pricey though and you must pay for it yourself.

Draven (and in fact everyone) can sleep wherever they like but I'm still giving you a house to use as a base of operations.

You do understand that when I said that I'd give you a home base I really meant that we'd assume that you already paid enough for it. There will be a bathroom (or at least a hole) and some other stuff that could be useful.

Subject: a question of home

I noticed that so far none of you have a home in Sharn, or anywhere for that matter. I really do think that you need a home base, whether it is an actual home or a base. To work this out, I'm giving you all as a group a single home with a private room for all six of you. The exact details will come later, but don't expect it to be roomy and fancy.

In case you decide to spend your money on a home in Sharn, use this pricelist instead of the table in S:CoT:

rent per month/buy
Upscale residence - 80gp/20,000gp
Average residence - 20gp/3,000gp
Poor residence - 2gp/200gp

You could play a Crusader from ToB. He has a strike that, if successful, heals yourself or friends within range.

I think some strikes can be used ranged. You might be able to multiclass between a Cleric and a Swordsage that specializes in ranged combat.

Or you could just be a Cleric with ranged weapons. Just play what you want to play. House Jorasco (or whatever they are called) have something akin to hospitals in Sharn so if you wind up injured that is always an option (assuming you have the money). Dragging an injured comrade to the hospital gives the game a bit of a drama if you ask me

Topic: Eberron Campaign Recruiting
Subject: Let us recap

Alright, we have a total of 6 players. So far I have 3 completed characters and 3 that are getting some work. Of these 6 there are at least 2 player-created classes, 3 using the core classes and 1 using an official WotC class from another book. There are at least 3 humans already in this group, the rest I have no real idea.

So far we have Nel, the human rogue; Draven, the human fighter/soul seeker; and Adysine, the human fighter.

I know Grugg is working on his character, but I have no idea what race he's going to be or if he has chosen either bard or druid. Philosopher is working on his blind master (a player-created class) but I don't know what race he'll be. Ayrn is somewhere, I'm not sure where, hopefully giving his character at least some thought. He talked about using the Tome of Battle but I don't think he had decided on a race yet.

So far, I know Draven hails from Aundair (right?) and I think both Nel and Adysine are from Breland. Just correct me if this is wrong.

Now, is there anything I'm missing?

Sorry about not posting. I've been working on the Eberron campaign and in between I've been doing absolutely nothing productive (except work), so I don't really have an excuse

I'll make an honest attempt at posting ASAP.

Everything looks good. The description is good enough, although I would like you to send me a more detailed backstory if you have one. Basically, I love introducing some twist that involves the characters' past.

It's OK, I'll just add them in for the Q/A thread. I just don't want to calculate them every single time you know.

Looking good Tri. Here's a thought though. It would really help if you finished the skills, adding in the ability modifiers. And where did that +6 damage come from? Other than that, I see nothing wrong with this.

Oh, never mind. Looked up Weapon Specialization. That's where the extra 2 came from

Subject: Things to say...

Valimar, I can't really say that the class you made is broken until I see more details about the class. It may sound all nice, but if we are talking about a rather long term game, I would like to see the long term effects.
I would also prefer that your character worked with them during the war because I want you to know the rest of the group who split from it after the war. Gives your character a drive and all. I can't really explain why without giving up the plot, so I'd prefer that this wouldn't be questioned much. You could of course have worked unofficially for the army, like if the group had hired you instead of the military.
I agree with the poison bit. I see no reason why they should wear off under normal situation (unless applied to target of course). If you only have 10 darts, that's a whole other issue. That's half your money back. I was just wondering how much you spent since 4,200 is a whole lot and a big portion of your money limit. Plus, the darts are ebony and the blade is onyx. I'd like to know if you had assumed ebony and onyx had any special qualities and how much it would cost. Personally, I always assume that any weapon made from any exotic material (anything else than steel, bronze or brass) is required to be masterwork (and that costs extra, as we all know). The runes on the Soulscythe (cool name by the way) seem magical to me, so I naturally assume that the blade is at least masterwork.

Kaelyn, your idea is interesting. I had put thought into who had been the leader and at first thought of Landiir but later thought that it didn't really fit. The thing about your character is that according to your backstory the House Deneith wouldn't have pointed you as the group leader right away. Of course, they know little if anything about your past alliances, but since you only just made your way into their ranks I would assume that they would have pointed someone more experienced to the role of leadership. At least to begin with. Assuming that person got killed during an important mission (which they generally all were) Nel could have taken the reins and lead the group to victory. After that, she could have been trusted with the role of leader.
Just a thought. Even with your contacts at House Deneith, your father has greater contacts and he generally does not like you.
