Ghost
Longchester Hospital for the Insane

The specter fixed upon his face a gentle smile as he walked into Annabell’s room. Annabell smiled slightly as she saw him walk in. “Did you scare the good doctor away, Hiram?” she said without seeming bothered.

“Annabell, there’s something I’ve been meaning to discuss with you. I can take care of your nightmares, if you’ll let me, in fact there’s no need for unpleasant dreams at all.” Hiram’s words seemed to affect Annabell as her face turned from a smile into that of surprise and hope. Her face then turned back into the smile she had a little bit earlier. “I’ve heard that before you know,” she said with the same unbothered voice she used earlier, like if the news really did not affect her. “They all say that, before they die.”

Vampire
Ren Majere’s penthouse

Maxwell looked Ren in the eye. “Ask your men to put those away,” Ren said, and even though Maxwell knew that his men had those weapons ready for a reason, he was compelled to do as asked. He signaled his men to conceal their weapons while Ren signaled his own men to walk away. “So what brings you here? And.. do you want a drink?” Ren said while walking to his own bar. This somewhat humored Maxwell, seeing someone spending their money like an idiot on things that were of no importance.

“The Big Guy wanted me to check up on you,” Maxwell said, “and his little business in these parts. And you already know that I never drink what you offer me, Ren.” The last part he said smiling. The two had never been friends and rarely been anything except hostile with words towards each other. “We got word that there are some shady people heading this way,” he continued. “No official members of our enemies yet, though, but mercenaries and big names in the underworld. We had word that even Francis Cassidy was heading this way.” The name he said as if it had some sort of meaning, as well as it did. Cassidy was an eccentric gun-for-hire who would never turn down a job and usually got them all done. The only reason no one ever caught him was because he was never seen and his real name was not Cassidy, or Francis even for that matter. What Ren knew that Maxwell, or most people at all, did not know was that Francis Cassidy did not always hunt or work for mortals. The man knew more than he should, and while most creatures did not like it that way, many found it useful at times.

Maxwell looked around and signaled his thugs to stay at the door. He himself stood up and walked towards Ren’s bar counter. “The Boss wants you to be on your guard,” he said with a low voice. “If anything happens that could jeopardize our position here, he wants you to handle it appropriately.” That being said, Maxwell walked out of the penthouse, and his thugs followed.

Werewolf
Somewhere in the Fieldriver district

William threatened Dorian and his comrade with the newly acquired weapons, but neither Dorian nor the man behind him seemed at all threatened. "I'll admit that battle was not among my finer ones. But what can I help you with, Mr. Grey?" Dorian grinned but the expression seemed out of place. The grin had no emotion attached to it. It was simply there.

“Oh, you got me all wrong,” Dorian said, with a humble voice of a servant. “It is not you who are going to help me, it is I who am going to help you. See, I work for a very powerful person who has asked for your service. In return for your service, you will recieve our service.” Dorian did not walk very close to William, but stopped far enough for the bigger one to intervene if there would be a fight. “I am allowed to make you a deal, in return of your loyal service. In return of your service to us, I am to assist you in your current dilemma and you will be rewarded greatly once your service is no longer needed. Are you interested?”

Just spend the BP as if they were XP (making the Rote cost 4 BP). I can add it in if you want, but I hope you understand how the spell works before you buy that rote because I'm not going to allow you to switch later on.

Since you are burning Essence fairly quickly, I'm going to allow you to take that Breath Stealing Numen for 5 BP.

I had work today, so I'm just going to update tomorrow. Gives me more time to make the update

Subject: Good Merits listing

I stumbled upon a list of Merits which can be used in this game. If you find something in there that you like you can ask me if you can have it and I will probably allow it.

Merits List from Wanton Wicked

Of course, other books than those listed there are also allowed, but for those of you who do not have the books, this is a good list to look at.

EDIT: Fixed the link so it works now.

Andri, I know for a fact that you are not as 'evil' as you claim to be and I know for a fact that you are too bright to be even close to being as 'evil' as you claim to be.

That being said, I'd like to mention the random act of kindness my father did when he gave Gerald his driver's license. Pure act of kindness, Andri. Pure act of kindness!

Topic: World's Largest Dungeon
Subject: Tried it and failed

Well, first I'd like to correct you. There are more than one entrance as well as exits. This was made so that you could start the crawling at a higher level or get them out if you all get bored with the crawling but liked the characters to continue. These exits can be seen on the map as well as they are mentioned in the first chapter I think.

Me and my friends were going to start this crawling couple of months ago (September I think) and we made a single rule before we got started. No Kenders! There was one who wanted to play such a creature and she got voted down, mostly because no one would stand the presence of a Kender for a full Campaign. We got through the first session and then we simply could not stand it much longer. They were so used to starting at higher levels that they couldn't deal with 1st level characters. They also couldn't deal with playing in a dungeon for over a year.

So we started a new game and everybody was happy. The World's Largest Dungeon is a very cool and epic-like idea, and I sincerely hope you and your players enjoy it.

Topic: New/Old DM's
Subject: Betting and getting around at the Inn

Well, if punishment is your cup of tea, here's a trick based on Brianna's idea of betting XP: Let them bet XP. 50x their level is a good base. If they are right and the House (the DM) is wrong, they get the price XP if they can prove it. If they are wrong, they lose that XP even if the DM isn't right. If they are arguing between themselves, let them bet between themselves in the same way, but if neither is right, they both lose the XP.
This may, or may not, get you hated by the players, but it is more likely that they will be discouraged to continue arguing when they are starting to lose levels because of it.

You have to remember though, if they are not respecting you as the DM they obviously do not know the rules as well as they think. The Golden Rule is that the DM has the last word, even if that word does not appear in the book. If they can't accept that, they shouldn't be players. I sometimes hit that wall myself, which is why 95% of my roleplaying experience is as the gamemaster.

As for getting around, because of the great minds of the admins and modorators, all the subforums (or what they are called again) are colorized. The Common forums are orange and are mostly for everything that does not fit the other ones. Q&A threads are green, like this one, and are for questions and answers (which I think you already knew). They are often used to provide information out of character for certain games so if you are playing make sure to check them out. Following is the yellow threads or the recruiting threads. If there is a game that need players or players that need a game, you can find it there. I'm recruiting for two games myself, one has already started and the other will hopefully start soon

Following the General Forums is the Gaming Surveys. They hold the questions regarding your favored gaming experiences, characters, settings or the like. With me being Icelandic, I can't remember the name of that color

After that are the Creative Forums that hold both your own creations (be they stories, poems or game related) and posting games. These are purple. The posting games can be really fun if you know the rules (they are posted on the first page).

Then come the games. The red ones are rule based games, like D&D and White Wolf. Most of the time they require recruiting, which you can find in the yellow/recruiting threads. These games can, and most of the time are, a lot of fun. The blue ones are free form games. You don't have to be recruited to play in them unless it specifically states that you need to (usually in the first post).

Hope this helped at all, and remember that when you look into a thread you are always immediately transferred to the last page.
Oh, and welcome to the Inn

I don't like things fast food style, or at least not in a RPG. Roleplay isn't all about the action, and that I think is a big problem when everybody think it is. I prefer more serious play and I don't think it will be very enjoyable in a more fast paced editions of previously good games.

Subject: Yes...

I pretty much agree with everything Almerin just said. I haven't looked at the sites, but I still don't like any of it. Such a big upgrade so soon after the last one is like thinking we are all fools. To think that we would spend our hard earned money on hundred v3.5 books just so that we could put them down into a box without using them when 4th edition gets published. Anyone who does that is truly a fool, and I don't consider myself a fool.

I will however look at the books. I have the habit of looking at many roleplaying books without any reason to use them. I enjoy reading stats and the background info, but I often do it only for inspiration. There may be a thing or two in the 4th edition that I'd like to try out, but I'll be damned if I will throw my books into the back of my closet because of a new edition.

Oh, and next update will probably be next Saturday or Sunday. I'm trying to start the Roman game but that may not happen for another week, which gives me time to update this game more often until then.

Ghost
Longchester Hospital for the Insane

Einhart chuckled with excitement as he came closer to Annabell’s room. Before moving any further, the ‘good’ doctor looked around to make sure that no one was anywhere near. The security staff didn’t include many employees and they had a lot of ground to cover. Einhart would have all the time he needed to finish things up. The room was in plain view. Soon he would get the release he needed before going home to his hag of a wife.

But suddenly something happened that the doctor had not thought of as possible. Right in front of him appeared a person, dressed like a doctor and with flesh as rotten as an old corpse. The eyes were deep and empty, and fat, white maggot crawled out of the man’s mouth as he spoke in a hissing voice. “In my day we didn’t f*** with our patients, boy.” For a second, Einhart couldn’t move, like if his whole body had frozen in a fraction of a second. Indeed, he looked by far paler than when he came in that very morning. When the second had passed, Einhart started running, and whimpered and screamed as he did. Within seconds, his presence had disappeared from the hallway completely. The only thing left were traces of liquid where the doctor stood and the sedative shot that he had dropped on his run.

Proud with delivering the message, Hiram reverted to his invisible self. He glanced at Annabell’s door, to see if there was any hint at light coming from there. And there was. Faint light crept from under the locked door. Inside, Annabell sat on the floor and stared intently at the door, as if it would suddenly disappear or come alive if she would look away.

Vampire
Ren Majere’s penthouse

Ren used his phone several times on his way home. Now that he had the money, Ren had a lot of things to take care of. One of them were to hire thugs. No, soldiers. Soon the wheels would start turning in his favor.

Ren got up to his penthouse. A finely decorated and fitting for his status and demeanor. There was only one thing he neither wanted in the apartment or expected to find there. Samuel Maxwell, his superior within the criminal organization and generally frightening guy to most, and three of his thugs were waiting for Ren to appear.

“Hello, Ren,” Maxwell casually said. The black man knew how to play Ren’s nerves. He was dressed like rich man that he was; in a gray suit that almost looked black in the lack of light, a red tie, silk shirt and a black coat. His three thugs all wore black and openly held their guns in their hands. Maxwell always wore his glasses. Even Ren knew that he couldn’t see without them. “You kept us waiting, Ren. That is not nice, specially not after all the trouble we had to get here.” The smile on Maxwell was just another thing that annoyed Ren. Just when things were starting to be all good, Maxwell and his entourage had to show up.

Werewolf
Somewhere in the Fieldriver district

The battle was over. William felt like he had vented somewhat and could use some resting. However, there was the matter of the woman who got away. If she would get to her pack and report about the fight, he would be in serious trouble. He did not have much time, but still found tattered clothes off himself and his opponents that he could use to wrap the weapons that the two had with them and left behind. He cleverly hid them under his extra large coat and tasted the blood off the Silver Knuckles before tracking down the woman.

The tracking did not take long and within minutes he found the body of the woman in a playground. Luckily, this late at night there wasn’t anyone around in the playground, but since her clothes had ripped apart when she changed her shape earlier it would not be proper if any children would find her in this state. Not to mention the gruesome wound she had on both her chest and face from when he hit her with the Silver Knuckles. Apparently, when she was forced back into human form, her body could not deal with the wounds and so it gave in. He hid her in a nearby bush, away from plain sight.

Afterwards he moved to a darkened alley to test the weapons he had ‘rightfully’ stolen from his deceased opponents. The man’s sword was not really big, William held it in one hand, but it seemed old-fashioned and well preserved, but for all William could tell it could have been just newly made. It was not silver though, and neither were the two shorter blades which had belonged to the woman. Although they seemed primitive, there was something about them. Runes on these blades indicated that a spirit or spirits had been bound to them. William knew they were fetishes made for fighting, but exactly what they did eluded him.

“You fight well, sir.” The voice came from the street where two men stood. One of them was neatly dressed in a black suit, his hair finely combed and he wore both dark shades and black leather gloves. The other man was big in most ways. He was as big as William’s Dalu-form and with just as much muscle, but he did not look or smell like one of the People. There was something off about him though; his nose for one seemed somehow flat, like something had pushed it too far upwards, and his eyes looked dull. This man did not look like a thinker, but a man of action.

“You fight well,” the man in the suit repeated, “but you need to learn to choose your fights more wisely.” The man stepped into the alley but the brute only stood there. “You can call me Dorian Grey, and I believe I can be of some service.”

Mage
Daiki Sato’s apartment

Daiki listened carefully to Piers’s description of the dream. He joined him in the drinking of root beer and analyzed everything that Piers said. When the story had been told, Daiki had already finished his beer. A short silence before Daiki spoke.
“That is... interesting,” he said. He seemed somewhat worried and quickly stood up to fetch more root beer for both him and Piers. “But what do you think it means? Any ideas?”

Before Piers could give him an answer the phone suddenly rang. The voice on the other side was Ryozo’s. “Piers, I didn’t find anything that could help but there might be a person who can.” The voice seemed somewhat in a hurry, like there was no time for chit-chat. “I need you to meet me in front of Scarlet Hearts in the Fieldriver district as soon as you can. Daiki knows the address and should be able to take you there.”

***

The day had passed very quickly, or the night had come in very early. By the time Daiki and Piers reached the Scarlet Hearts, it was already time for most moral members of the community to stay at home with the family, but this was also the time when the infamous brothel known as Scarlet Hearts made most of their businesses. Ryozo was waiting outside by the entrance, just like he said he would.

Both Daiki and Ryozo spoke to each other in a serious manner, but in a language that Piers did not understand. Daiki somehow seemed worried while Ryozo seemed much more determined. Once they had finished speaking, Daiki went back into the car where he was going to wait for them he said.
“Come on, Piers,” Ryozo said, “she’s waiting inside.”

This is your one day reminder!

I will update tomorrow and anyone who hasn't posted by then will not get a continuity to his story for another week. That's right, starting tomorrow, I will only update this game on Wednesdays.

I'm also going to make a few changes to the advancement system so that you do not lose any BP if you fail the advancement roll, you'll just need to wait another week or two to make another roll for the same thing. Hopefully this will make use them more often.

One day warning, people! One day warning!
