Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques
Subject: Arrival to Ord Mantell

After a long jorney of awkward silence, Awvoor's ship finally comes to a halt above Ord Mantell in the Bright Jewel cluster. Thick clouds cover the whole planet, which glow occasionally with pinkish cast from where you see it. You make your descent.

As you move through the cloud, the planet reveals its odd looking civilization to you. As far as the eye can see, there is garbage nearly everywhere. In between the heaps of garbage there are city streets and buildings. The ship touches down in a cleared landing area. High above the whole thing are the clouds that cover the whole planet.

"'Tis a lot nicer than I remembered," the Rodian says as he looks out the window.

As you make your way out of the ship, you are greeted by several Republic troopers and their officer. "Hold it right there," the officer says, "we need to ask you few questions, and to search your ship."

"I be embasssador from Republic," Milix says after stepping up, "I demand you let me and massster Jedi passsss."

The officer looks at the Khil. "We will see about that," he finally said. "We will contact Coruscant but until then you will need to be detained."

I have to tell you that I'm kinda disappointed. I thought that if I would give you a week I would have at least one post from each of you, probably more from certain players. I thought it would get you to try to know each other and the NPCs in character. I also thought you would post in character things that you were going to do during the downtime, and I know some of you were going to do something specific and you didn't post about it so it technically shouldn't have been done. I mean, you had a week, and I know that most of you were online at least once and some of you more often than that.

Like I said, a bit disappointed. Anyway, the game will move on.

Posting a OOC bit at the bottom is a very good way to get my attention to it. I have 6 players, some of who post more than once every week, so the occasional mechanic often get lost in a completely IC posts. So a OOC bit would be very good, thanks

Also wondering, would you prefer that I'd post a grid version of the maps? It would be handy if you needed to better see distances.

Nikulas looks surprise at Aurora after her remark. "Not evil?" he says with his deep and booming voice. "Well, that's good to know. I was beginning to wonder about that." His tone changes from comedical to being more serious. "You could have just asked, you know?"

As much as I'd like to use that excuse, I haven't read the d20 rulebook in any detail yet so I wouldn't know about it. But my sense of memory came through this morning and I successfully finished most of the exam
Yay me!

Just thought I'd tell you, even if you're not really interested

So my sense of memory may not be as bad as I think it is.

My bad. I have no idea why I didn't notice the Force Powers thing, and the Lekku has been a general problem for me as a language. And I'd like to express my general hatred for my horrible sense of memory since I was 100% sure that the Jedi started with Weapon Proficiency (pistols) as a starting feat.

Geraint, if you had been in my game, you would have gotten an extra feat

Anyway, I'm going to shut up now.

Topic: SW: Dawn of Defiance Q/A
Subject: ...

Is it alright if I would mention a few things about the characters that I've noticed? Would anybody be offended by it, or is it perhaps not fitting as the first non-GM post in the Q&A?

You have probably noticed that Geraint's Jedi has the Force Training feat but doesn't have any force powers. Geraint's character is also missing one feat (2nd lvl bonus feat for two levels in Jedi), something I thought I should point at. I also think that Geraint has one too many languages, unless you count the Lekku sign language as an automatic language, in which case I appologize if I sounded like I was trying to insult. And even if it does not count as automatic language, I still apologize if I sounded like I was trying to insult. In general, I apologize if I sounded like I was trying to insult.

Ginafae's character I noticed is strikingly thin. We in Iceland actually use the metric system regularly (I don't know about you, though) and 1.85 meters vs. 55 kilograms pretty much means you can hide behind a pole. It is just too creepy to imagine. It's like Ally McBeal would lose some weight. I'm about 1.80-.85 meters myself, about 90 kilograms and that's pretty average. You might want to increase that weight to about 75 or 80, in my oppinion, which should still make you look skinny but not scary.

Just thought I should report my observations. Sorry if they are not needed.

I've been busy studying for an exam that is bright and early in the morning, and in between study sessions I forgot to add the results. Just let me read up on the detect evil bit and the answer will be up in a flash.

EDIT: Alrighty, I've added the results of the Detect Evil to the IC thread. For fast and simple reference, he does not register as evil.

Subject: Seen it

Like those two, I went to see the new Star Trek movie this weekend as well. Unlike them though, I am not a diehard Trek fan, although I do enjoy the later series. So what can I say about the movie that they haven't? Probably nothing. I liked it, and I would like to see it again.

So my message to you: Even if you are not a Trekkie, the price of the ticket is totally worth seeing it. You can enjoy the whole thing, even though you've never watched an episode or movie set in the Trek universe in your life, because it resets the whole idea of the Trek universe. Therefore, you won't miss out on the fun. And there is much fun to be had in watching this movie.

I recommend it.

It seems to me that you for some reason think you can get out by going through the right-North cell. If you double-check the map, you might notice there is no way for you to even get into that cell, let alone get out again to the guard. So I'm going to have to ask you not to try to get through the North cell, altough you might try to break through the wall, which I won't try to stop you from doing.

I will point out that there are normal doors that lead into this room, and if you check this map you might notice an opening to the East through the top most cell. It's a bit obscure as the map is a tad bit too big, so I don't blame you for not noticing before (specially since it does not show up on any of the other maps). Those doors could be locked, so the only sure way out that you know of is through the East cell.

It may be that I just misunderstood your posts, which I admit happens on several occasions. As I understood it, the North cell looked like an easy option to you, so I thought I'd clear that up. I'm going to have to ask you to be clear in your posts on what it is that you are trying to do, where you are trying to get to, and whom you are trying to slice'n'dice. So, clarity in posts is essential to avoid confusion. If you don't think you can do it IC, add it as OOC either in the post or in the Q&A thread. Either way is fine, as long as I know what you are trying to do.

You have no idea whether the magic dampening effect of the cells are broken or not. The only way to find out is through the hard way of walking through. As with the doors, you know nothing about whether it is locked, magically or mundanely, or not locked at all.

You can try to get out and see if you can get to him on foot. Your knowledge of the hallways are limited to what you've seen through the bars of your cells, and what you've seen from your cells is limited. So you have no idea whether you can or how to get to the guard on foot. Just try and find out.

You can add mechanical terms in a (OOC: ) bracket, so it won't bother the IC bit of your post. Just add it in at the end of your post or wherever you want it, it won't bother me.

I can see how that'll work. The bars will still give some cover, though, but it won't be as much.

I'm guessing it is supposed to be a 5 ft. step, right? I think that's enough to avoid the wall, but if you want to go any further you won't be able to do a full attack.

Subject: Maps

I've added this round's maps. There are two for the Blue team, one for David's visual range and one for Kaeleyna's light-dampening effect, and one for the Red team.

Here's some crunching numbers for David's attempt at shooting an arrow at the guard. The guard has cover. The wall provides him with 50% or so cover, as you probably can see on the map. The bars, however, add to the guards cover. Since David is trying to shoot between so many bars, and with the added cover from the wall, I don't feel like I'm being mean when I say I think the guard would have 90% cover judging from where he is currently standing.
Anyway, feel free to edit your post if you want, you have until next Friday to do so. I just thought you should know how difficult these shots were.

And Germyn's little reversed triangle in the lower right corner? It is basically just a little thing to remind me that he has shifted into hybrid form. Nothing dangerous. I might change it in the future, though, but I'll make sure to let you know if it is not the hybrid thing.

Enjoy the maps

BLUE

As you look closer into the cell, a rough man appears before your eyes. He looks strong and capable, but much like any other prisoner he is without arms or armor. His hair is wild, his face is covered with beard, and his skin is covered in scars of battles past.

"Let me out," he pleas, "and I will get you an alliance with my tribe. Many of us were imprisoned here, and if we are released we can help you escape."

The man speaks loudly, and despite the calling and yelling from the other prisoners, the guard seems to have heard him and seen you. He begins moving quickly towards you.

Upon hearing of the guard's closeness to the group, Germyn feels his rage boiling in his veins. His muscles begin to bulge and his skin starts to sprout fur. He feels extraordinary pain as his bones stretch out, and his figure becomes larger. It has been a century since his body knew anything but the human form, and he has become unaccustomed to take on other forms. Once the deed is done, the pain quickly moves aside for Germyn's rage. He now appears to be bigger, and his entire body is covered in fur. Regardless of how you look at it, no one can describe him any differently than having the visage of a large wolf.

RED

You follow the voice to a locked door. Gazing into the cell through the bars on the door, you see an old man. Despite his age, his muscles are great and in his eyes you can see the fiery youth. His hair is white as snow, his beard covers his face and reaches far down his chest, his towering figure stands in the middle of the cell, and he is only decently covered by a red cloth and a leather-strap serving as his belt. To the magical perception of Aurora, he does not appear to be purely evil.

"I am Nikulas," he says with a deep and booming voice, "lord of the Northern tribes and known as saint of the barbaric horde. I..." He hesitates, as if what he is about to say next is hard for him to say. "I... ask for you assistance in getting out of his forsaken prison."

Thanks

You're right, there should have been some oath-of-vengeance deal going on there. My primary source is the Star Wars trilogies and wookieepedia, so I didn't really think of it. And I don't watch that much Star Trek so I didn't even think about comparing the Mandos with the Klingons. I'll keep it mind if I ever write a Mandalorian fanfic again (and I'll add the vengeance oath to this one later on )

Thanks again

Drawing the excitement out to the last moment

Congrats, everyone, you have just entered hyperspace and finished the first chapter of the game! Extra XP for that accomplishment

In celebrating that event, I won't be updating again until next Wednesday. Until then, feel free to do things off-stage or converse IC, either with each other or with the NPCs you picked up earlier. Although I won't be doing a real, official update, I will answer any questions you might ask the NPCs.

The hyperjump takes 10 days from where you are, so you won't actually arrive until on Wednesday's update. It doesn't actually matter that much except for roleplaying-wise, but I thought you should know anyway.

So, yeah, feel free to roleplay a bit while in the hyperjump, and I'll be giving you roleplay XP next update

EDIT: Don't forget to include everything you want to get done during the hyperjump. There's no turning back the clock to do things you forgot later.

Subject: And off you go!

The Mandalorian starfighters are closing in fast. Just as Awvoor is about to jump into hyperspace, those fighters enter firing range with Awvoor's ship and begin firing their blasters. That does not stop Awvoor, however, who suddenly disappears from the Mandalorians' visual range.

For Awvoor and those aboard his ship, the experience is a bit more visual and physical. For a short moment, you feel a sudden pull back as the ship suddenly jumps to a much greater speed. You quickly get accustomed to the new velocity and the effect wears off in a matter of seconds. Looking out through the window, you can see how the stars start moving and change into a hypnotic blur.

"Well," the Rodian says to Awvoor, "holdin' out 'til the last moment, eh? Don' go into comercial flight, bud." He then removes himself from the cockpit.
