Why we joined the army is a bit different from why we ended up in the same unit. A little backstory is always good for a character, gives him a little bit of a flavor. I was just talking about that unit bit.

Subject: Exiting the Tavern

As the barkeeper cleans up the mess left by the battle earlier, the Crimson Blades slowly gather. Discq gently puts his hands on Mongerie's wound and a faint light shines from his fingertips as the wound forces itself to close. The team then leaves the Tavern and enter the raining outside. They have gathered what could be of any worth from the bodies they left in the tavern. Aside from what Groar kept on himself, the four orcs had nothing but their arms and armor and small amount of silver. This is where Discq says his farewells for the evening and goes the other way. For what reasons, no one knows.

On their way to the Crimson Blades's headquarters they stumble upon a dead Gnome in the middle of the street. It is the same Gnome as left the Tavern few minutes earlier, but his throat had been cut and his belt-pouch removed. He had been killed only moments ago, but the two women were nowhere to be seen.

They arrive at their headquarters, a rather small apartment in the corner of one of the larger towers. There is but one window and one door. On the other side there is a balcony with a poor view. The headquarters have a single fireplace with a large pot hanging over it, a single table and six chairs. A single lamp hangs above the table, providing extra light when needed. The room stretches forward into a hallway with three doors leading into three rooms. Through one of these rooms one can get out onto the balcony, but the week-long rain has made that an undesirable place to be.

((OOC: This last bit is pointed to you when you arrive to the HQ. If you had some other business before going to the HQ you can do that but there won't be much open at this hour))

And I thought that seleta was what was written on them, not that it was the khord word for trademark but the trademark itself.

Edited the post to better fit this new information. Hope I got it right this time.

Born and raised in a fishing village, Arrowhawk soon changed his name after his arcane abilities appeared. After seeing how most villagers avoided contact with him, Arrowhawk left the village and joined the army of the Red Duke. His primary motivation in life is to edge his name on the stone that is history, preferably in large letters.

(I was hoping to be allowed to play a non-familiar variant presented in PHB II. It basically gives me the ability to cast metamagic spells without making them full-round instead of the familiar)

Vidar searched the room and took what valuables he found and put them in his backpack. The leather scroll he found was somewhat striking. It was pretty much the same drawing he had seen in the cave earlier. What more was that the trademark could be seen on every single weapon on the drawing. Seleta as it was called in the Khordaldrum language. But what shocked the Khord was that the trademark was the same one on all the weapons. Who the seleta belonged to Vidar did not know, that person had long been forgotten by name. But why were the fishmen interested in weapons created by that person. Vidar had always assumed it was a Khord who forged Haircutter, but seeing this scroll made him doubtful of even that.

He was however certain that he was getting closer. Countless days and weeks of traveling were finally about to come to an end, or so he hoped. There was no point in stopping now. He needed his shield. If the weapons were here, the shield shouldn't be too far away. Vidar strapped his spear on himself as well as the sheath of his sword and exited into the tunnels with his axe in one hand and sword in the other. He continued the same way he was going and continued looking into other rooms to check if his shield would be there, or better yet, his grandfather's axe.

Karma hates you, Carey. Raining every day in your vacation gotta suck.

I love it when players think they deserve special treatment.
And (outside my little world of roleplaying) I adore everyone at work who talk to me like they know better or think I don't know how to do things I've done hundreds of times.
I also love it when I get to a pizza place to get my ordered pizza and they tell me they've been waiting ten minutes. (IT IS CALLED SERVICE, YOU IDIOT)
I think it is a clever idea to sell week old ham and when someone needs to complain about it no one speaks a word in the country's home language. The guy who thought of that is brilliant and deserves a medal.

Subject: And the barkeep says...

The barkeep looks at Nel. To most people this offer wouldn't sound unbalanced but the barkeep didn't seem to agree. His eyes changed into appearing more stern and angry. Nel had convinced him that the Crimson Blades wouldn't hurt him, and so his anger had raged up from under his fears.

"You expect me to believe your promises? Yes, I have heard of your House and your House does little to protect us in the lower quarters. They let us rot when criminals attack and kill us, instead of actually helping us! Respectable customers do not avoid this place because of the dirt but because they fear the muggers. I will have nothing to do with you, your House or your silver. Leave before you completely trash the place!"
After these words the barkeep walks away from the bar to clean up the mess in the tavern.

((OOC: Sorry man, rolled a natural 1 on your Diplomacy check ))

Subject: After the fight

The battle was by far easier than the Blades had expected. Within mere seconds their opponents had fallen. Draven stands with a grin over the headless body of Groar. An eerie grin that should not have a place in the situation. Mongerie stands still roughly ten feet away, near where the head of Groar ended. He seems to know that the battle has ended but doesn't seem to bother about the wound he got from the other orc.

Finally, Nel breaks the silence. "Well done everyone, well done." she says as she looks at her comrades. "On behalf of House Deneith, I place Groar the quite killable and his misfit colleagues bodies under confiscation of the Crimson Blades. Round up any coin or valuables the other's might hold, that we may pay the good barkeep for damages, and add to our own coffers." That being said she bows down to look at what Groar had taken with him.
She finds a belt with ten pockets which seem like they have been specially made for holding vials. In those pockets she finds nine vials with unknown liquids of several colors and properties. Two vials holds a green and thick liquid while one holds a bright red colored liquid. Three of them are bright blue and two of them is royal blue and sparkles in the poor light. The last one is black and thick as blood. Nel also finds some gems in Groar's belt pouch and some coins as well. Aside from Groar's chainmail armor, greatsword and ragged cloak, Nel finds nothing more of interest aside from a note inside the belt's tenth pocket. The note appears to have no special qualities but is written with a handwriting that may belong to a noble or at least someone with a fancy handwriting. The note is written in Orc, but the handwriting makes it hard to recognize as such language. The note only has few lines.

Nel d'Deneith

Nel then raises her head and calls out to Discq who is still on the other side of the barcounter. "Could you be a dear and bring the owner out here? I think this could be an opportunity for a business arrangement." she says politely to him. While Discq opens the hatch down to the wine-cellar where the barkeeper had hidden himself, Adysine checks on one of the other orcs. Aside from his weapon and armor, he doesn't seem to have anything of interest on him.

The barkeeper slowly raises his head above the counter and what he sees strikes him with horror. His tavern is a complete mess. Although angry, he anger is overwhelmed by fright. "P-please don't harm me," he says with a whimpering voice. "T-take what m-money you want, but please don't k-kill me. You c-can even take the maid but l-leave me out of th-this."

I'd like to join as a sorcerer if I may. Don't have the stats yet and I might change it into a fighter, but I think a spellcaster might come in handy (specially for backup, defenses or, later on, mass destruction).

Other than that, I think Isabel forgot one feat. If memory serves, you get one feat on 1st level and another on 3rd level. But if you want to change it it is your call.

Topic: Dim Lights of Sharn - Eberron
Subject: The fight is over

The fight would soon come to an end, every member of the Crimson Blades knows that. Groar seems to be getting tired and now he was surrounded. Mongerie and Adysine have taken their positions on either of his sides and with Nel and Draven covering his front and back, the big orc doesn't have any place to go.

Discq still plays his harp from behind the counter. The barkeep and the maid are scared to their bones. Even though Discq's music is a slight comfort even to them, they do not wish to die this night. The barkeep opens a door in the floor which leads to the wine cellar and signals the barmaid to follow him down. Discq does not stop playing his harp. Even though he can not fight as well as the others, his skills are still needed.

Mongerie makes his attack, swinging his chain from a good distance. Groar growls as he attempts to knock the chain away, but the chain curves around the massive blade and slashes Groar in his neck. The blood gushes over his cloak and armor and stains Mongerie's chain with dark blood.
Nel makes her move. While Groar is already distracted she makes a feinting move and thrusts her blade deep into Groar's side. Groar screams in agony as he falls down on one knee.

The big orc looks Nel in the eyes with an angry face, revealing dark yellow teeth and fangs. "I will repay you these wounds tenfold, you filth, for I am Groar, the unkill..." His sentence is unfinished as Draven's massive blade sunders the orc's neck, sending the head flying away and landing on the floor not far from where Mongerie stands. The orc's massive body drops on the floor and makes loud enough noise in the process to wake up the man to up until now still slept by the bar. That noise also signals Discq to stop his musical play. The fight is over.

The wooden stick broke as it hit the stone wall where Vidar had thrown it to, but served its purpose as two of the fishmen went out to check for it. Unfortunatly for the Khord, there were two more still guarding the weapons. Vidar took a deep breath and moved to the other cave. When he noticed that the other fishmen didn't notice him he ran to his axe. Of course at that time, the other fishmen noticed him and attacked.

For some unknown reason, the bites of the fishmen missed only by inches, and their claws had no effect. As soon as the Khord had his axe he made his own attacks. Within moments the two were fallen, but not without injuries. The other two guard then came rushing in and dug their teeth into Vidar's flesh. The Khord split one of them in two, but the other seemed a more of a challange. For a moment which seemed longer than most others, they battled. Dodging and lunging, neither seemed to damage the other at all, until the fishman slashed a deep cut into the Khord's neck. Vidar was badly injured and could hardly see a thing. In a dizzied swing at random, Vidar could feel his axe hit something. He heard a gurgling sound and as the creature's body fell, Vidar allowed his own body to do the same.

Lying where he was, the Khord could almost feel his life as it was slipping away. It had been a good battle, but this was not the place where a hero should die. Of course, technically, Vidar was no hero yet. And so, he thought, this was not the time or place for him to die. He had heroism to attend to first. He battled his way to his healing potion and drunk the whole thing. It would not heal him completely but would ward away from death for the time being. He felt a sting in his neck as the wound forced itself together. A similar kind of sting could be felt all over his body as the wounds forced themselves to close.
This was not enough if he was supposed to fight off many more of these creatures. Perhaps he could find some bandages or the like here before he moved out. If not, he would need to hide and rest until he could fight some more. He still needed his shield, but perhaps he could find something that could serve as a substitute.

(OOC: Vidar drinks his Potion of Cure Modorate Wounds and will look in the cave for anything he could use as a shield or to heal himself some more before moving on)

Fixed the post again to include the other two. But still, the situation is a deathtrap. Vidar doesn't have the skill to sneak passed them and doesn't have the weapons or the hit points to fight them. He is pretty much royally screwed unless he simply walks the other way.

Topic: Dim Lights of Sharn - Eberron
Subject: ...and on...

Beside the screaming and shouting inside the Lone Tower Tavern, the sound of music can be heard coming from behind the bar counter. The music drives the Crimson Blades to greater deeds but only angers their enemies if anything at all. Discq is hiding behind the counter, his only company there being the fat innkeeper and the elven maid. On the other side of the counter is battle and blood.

The orc smiles so that his filthy teeth showes. Several of them are crooked while some are missing altogether. He had cut deep on the blind one. But as soon as he sees that Mongerie is still standing, his smile quickly turns into an angry face. He swings his sword high above his head and madly towards Mongerie. The blind Blade smoothly turns his way so that the orc's falchion only barely misses. Mongerie quickly turns a full circle with his chain high up and strikes the orc in the face, each spiked link on the chain taking hold in the flesh and then ripping it off as the chain is pulled back. With his face nearly ripped off completely, the orc shrieks in a way that has not been heard this night.
The pain is unbearable, his right eye is without eyelids and most of his lips has been removed. At some points, his skull is bare while small muscles and tissue covers the rest. The shriek is high pitched for an orc, but it only lasts shortly. Adysine launches her sword into the back of the orc and runs it through the torso of her opponent. The shrieking comes to a sudden stop, and when Adysine pulls it back out the orc falls down on the floor.

Draven and Nel had a little bigger fish to fry. Groar had proven himself to be tougher than his company, but as both Draven and Nel are flanking him he shouldn't last much longer.
Nel swings her blade gracefully and Groar follows her every move. She could probably make him jump hoops if she wanted to, but that is not was she's after. Suddenly, she appears to attack one way but when Groar moves his blade to block it she turns and thrusts her blade the other way. The sword is thrust into Groar's side, through the armor that once had stopped that same blade in its tracks. The blade went in deep. The blood rushes out of his body and onto the floor and even Nel gets a splash on her face.
Draven does not let this opportunity go to waste. Draven aims his blade at Groar's spine and rips again through the orc's chainmail. Grishnak does not hit the spine as intended, but it runs deep into Groar's torso. As if Nel's sword had not been enough, Groar also suffered Draven's blade in the back.
Groar rips himself from Grishnak, forcing his own blood out of his body and almost spilling it half-way across the room. He takes a full circle swing at Nel, yelling as he does so. "None shall defeat Groar the unkillable without any loss from their ranks!" he yells and lets his great sword come down upon Nel. With a single sidestep Nel moves away from the coming blade which shatters the floor where she stood a second ago.
The big orc seems to be getting tired. His swings are messy and he has started to breath heavily. It is doubtful that he will last much longer.

It took some time and effort, but the Khord managed to break out of his prison. Hopefully, no one heard him. Vidar quickly got to his feet and started looking in every cave on his way. At last, he found where they were keeping his weapons. Unfortunatly, it was guarded by four of the fishmen, those annoying bastards, and Vidar was only armed with a wooden piece from the door he broke down.

The Khord needed to think but he had to do it fast, before more guards got here. Vidar was no genius, and so his first plan was simply to get in there and attack the nearest one with his stick. Of course, since Vidar wasn't feeling all that well after the last fight, and his sole weapon was rotten wood, he thought that perhaps something with a little more deception would work better. But he didn't really like sneaking around (nor was he any good at it) and he wasn't all that smart. Vidar moved into one of the empty caves to hide in and threw his weapon into another cave on the opposite side of the cave where his weapons were. Hopefully the fishmen would all go check it out and give him time to get his weapons back.
