Topic: Dark Fantasy QnA Subject: Magic
So, Rhyson as a mage is perfect. Of course, "you have no magic besides your anti-demon weapons" does raise a rather obvious question. Is the crystal giving him some magic but he might want to be cautious with it? What system exactly are we using? (Just need to read - 2e)

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: A cloistered war cleric?
Ok, I don't know how the cloistered cleric works, but historically the idea of a cloistered cleric concentrating on the war domain sounds a bit odd. Lots of wars in the cloister? I'm not complaining, it just made me smile, which is a good thing.

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: Prestige and exotic familiars
What a bunch of stuff to read - at least I found the prestige class info and exotic familiars listed in the DMs Guide. Cool stuff. I did see the elemental option. On one hand that looks perfect, but since I want this guy to look "normal," being followed around by a little fire elemental would seem to ruin the image. And spiders are just creepy. Now, the blink dog . . . that might need to be looked into. As well as other options.
The group looks interesting so far.

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: A blaze of glory
Elemental Savant looks very interesting. Sorry things are taking a long time, I haven't worked with this system in a couple years and my internet keeps dropping. Excuses . . .
Does anybody have a crazy familiar suggestion? I really do see this sorcerer as a farmboy (actually woodsmen family, but whatever) who looks the part but obviously isn't. I'm not looking to be exotic - at least not on the outside. Thus a hawk was the logical familiar. Does the GM allow more crazy familiars?
Yes, you have the sorcerer figured out. He is going to be a fire damage distance hitting sort of guy with a few other abilities mixed in for variety. Does someone else have dispel magic or do we need him to take it? Sorcerers have limited slots for spell types, so I'm curious.
I could easily see Sirion taking the spokesperson lead. I don't see him as a maxed-out bluff skill person, however. He will have some of that, but seems to get along with people easily and fit into any group. Again, he doesn't try to look intimidating or exotic, although he certainly can when he wants to do so. He is a natural leader. He is most likely to be honest and friendly and make you want to help him. In most cases anyway. rn

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: Huh
I have to admit, I don't even know what a moonlit sorcerer or a dragonheart whatever are. I will look into it. Right now I am busy looking at spells, feats and magic items. I do have the players handbook and DM Guide for 3.5, but I think anything else I would need to know more.

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: Spells
Any suggestions on where to look for wizard/sorcerer spells besides just the PH? Those are kinda bland and I'm looking at someone who is kinda flame oriented.

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: Pretty Basic Stuff
I have tried to run a human sorcerer that is focused on flame magic before and had the games fizzle, so I want to give Sirion another shot. So that is what I am working on, pretty basic stuff from the Players Handbook, but a character I like. Work in progress.

What the heck is a hexblade/lasher?
I have the 3.5 players handbook - that isn't in it, is it?
if it isn't a rogue or mage type, is it a fighter type? But with a sneak attacky twist?

Topic: Bring Me That Horizon Subject: How to say somethin' without sayin' somethin' while askin' somethin' without really askin'
"What ship did ya say yer from?" the dark, curly-haired fellow leans forward and eyes Cracker with a dull gaze waiting on his reply.
Cracker hated the directness of the question as there was little wiggle room left in which to maneuver. But he took a bit of time responding by taking a long pull (but small actual drink) of his brew. Wiping his mouth as he put the mug down, he responded with a bit of a glaze in his eyes. "Didn't name one. Been on lots. The Blue Kite, The Dog, the Dawn, and recently the Dolphin."
(Made up the names, but the Dolphin is supposed to be one of the smaller ships on the other end of the dock from where these sailors were met. One that came in recently. I'm assuming Wiley has some such knowledge since he spent the morning wandering the docks.)
"But whatever ship I'm on tomorrow - sounds like things are good here? Some ports - nothing." Then he grinned. "I like the sound of "fillin' m' purse! If that's true, then perhaps I could do with a bit more purse emptyin!" He turned to the barman and called for another. When it came he raised it with a nod to his companions.
"What makes it so darn good for purses around here?"

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: Confusion
Not sure exactly what everyone else is running right now. Seems like we might have roguish types. Maybe. So leaning spell caster. I probably won't finish until this weekend, but hope to firm up a choice before then.
8th level. 3.5 system. Looks good.

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: Hmmm
Sounds like we have:
A roguish shadowblade or something tye.
A mage type
A Druid
A Paladin/ranger type
I said either rogue or mage type. I think a second mage/sorcerer would be better than two rogue - does that sound reasonable?

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: D&D?
This is a D&D game, right?
My only strong feeling is that I'd prefer to avoid a fighter this time. My non-warriors seem to all be in games that have fizzled, so I could use one. And I've never been big on clerics, depending on the setting, of course. A rogue probably tops my list, although a mage of some sort could also be good. Probably human, although that also could vary depending on the setting.
Could you give us a bit of the hook to help think about the character? I do have a human rogue type in mind, but . . .

Topic: Looking for your input on my potential input Subject: Count me in
I'd be happy to add a game. D&D is my standard as it is what got me into role playing and what keeps me there, but I'm also open to experimenting with other options. Pandas? Well, I've never been a panda before, but I heard they have a pretty mean kung-fu kick.
