Subject: Wait

Did Ody just write "Chicago?" Against Green Bay? You mean the Bears, right? Not the young bears, the Cubs? You actually picked Chicago?

I guess Cutler is gone.

Subject: Ok then

Well, that is too bad.
I just went ahead and posted his next roll - quite a bad one. Since we know the results and right now Dane is the only one who can post, there didn't seem to be a need to wait.
Time for the ranger to return the favor to the buggy.

Subject: This is not going according to plan

After seeing his previous attack after having been so sure he had swung true, Dane quickly spun around to try again. they had to take this thing down!

And . . . missed.
It wasn't even close this time.
He couldn't even whine about surprise armor or anything.
This was just incompetence.

(Rolled an 8. Wouldn't hit a goblin kid with that. Go Ranger!!)

Having gone arse over teakettle on a bike myself, I can say it can hurt quite a bit, even when you don't break your arm.

Wishing you the best Alacrity!

Subject: Now that felt good!

Dane ducked as the big beast swung its club around. Just the breeze that thing created could knock a guy over! He did not want to let that thing swing again!

Sigh.
He thought he had done so well.
But no.
At last fate came in and swatted his blade aside.
It was unfair. He'd never been told the bugbear had armor in that exact spot.
But so it was.
Instead of his shish kabobbing the beast, instead it had clobbered the ranger.
He leaped back to the attack.

(OOC: Dane rolled a 13, with +2 proficiency it is a 15. Damage - 1d6 = 6. Much better rolls than last time!)

Subject: take that! And that! And . . . almost that!

Dane jumped back as his rapier slid from the gash it had put in the bugbears side. Two more hits on the big beast - it had to be close to falling!

He quickly stepped forward and slashed again . . . only to have his blade skitter off the beast armor! So close!

(Dane rolled a 10 + 2 proficiency = 12. If I recall correctly, he needs a 14 to hit. I think. But then, that was a goblin, not buggy, so correct me if I'm wrong.)

Our wily rogue managed to hit the bugbear, but not for a ton of damage. Here's hoping things go well.

Subject: It was going so well . . .

Dane was glad to see that his second arrow did not have the same bad luck as the first. This one struck true, and combined with the arrow from their new ranger companion, took down the second goblin. Two down!

But his joy was very shortlived as the bugbear, already sporting two of Pavel's bolts in his hide, swung his club at the warrior and brought him to the ground. Damn! That thing was big! Dane was worried about his new companion, but couldn't even take the time to glance at his form as it slid to the floor. If they didn't take out that big thing fast they would all go down, and then there would be no saving Pavel if it was still possible.

So ignoring his injured companion, he opted for a blade over his bow and grabbed the handle of his rapier and moved as quickly as he could, ducking to the side of the big creature and attempting to bury his blade into its side!

(OOC: A role of 17! Hits! Damage roll: 3)

As the blade found it's mark Dane drove it home and then quickly sprang away again. He did not want to meet the business end of that club.

Subject: Cracker is up and runing. unlike Daxon.

Where do I find my character sheet again? Did you send it to us? Have them posted somewhere? I'm sure I've seen it, but can't find it.

Anyway, I just assumed Cracker couldn't speak French since it seemed likely given his background. Or unlikely, I suppose. If I'm wrong, I can edit.

Topic: Bring Me That Horizon
Subject: I bring you a generous gift . . . a bloody sailor. Who could say no to that?

As Daxon listened to Sharktooth's tale about the brawl in the bar, the new guy finally proved he wasn't quite dead yet and spoke up. "What do you do on the ship?"

‘At least he is alive enough to speak,' thought Cracker as he helped Sharktooth get the man to his feet. "Boatswain. It's a job that generally requires two legs. I'd have thought gunner did as well." He grinned at the man as he groaned in pain when they moved towards the door. Keeping his eyes on his surroundings he responded to the man's pain with a bit of sympathy. "Hopefully doc can get that leg fixed and you'll fit right in. The Dog is a good ship."

The walk across the town and then the sands was certainly not fun. About the only enjoyment Cracker got out of it was knowing that the other two were both enjoying it even less than he was. It was small consolation.

After a wait on the shore, annoying but welcome after the adventure of the sand, Cyril Daumier and the longboat finally arrived. After it had deposited its occupant, a large man William Wiley had never seen before, Cyril grinned and reacted to their new crewmate. "Who's this an' wha' in the bloody ‘ell ‘appened t' you Les mecs?"

‘Les mecs?' thought Cracker. He hated it when these guys spoke French, which Cyril immediately proceeded to do. He knew Cracker didn't understand it, so he was probably just trying to get a rise out of them. He'd give the man crap about being a frog some other time, but for now he was just curious about the big guy. "Kill the froggish, Cyril. Sharky found himself a gunner in mid' brawl. Hopefully he can aim a gun better'n he aims a knife. Who was the big guy?" The boatswain knew such information was probably above his paygrade, but curiosity made life a bit more interesting.

When they finally arrived back on the Dog they heard from Chimwemwe that the Doc was ashore. Sighing, Cracker looked at Sharky again. "Well, not much to do, but wait. Help him into the shade. Doc has to return sooner or later. Sober or not."

After helping Daxon to a reasonable seat, William Wiley took a seat just a few feet away. As much as he'd like to, there was no point in going back into town. His next shift might well start soon and while he had not been on the Dog all that long yet, it was long enough to know that it was unwise to anger either of the Cole sisters. He'd be here, on time and sober, when his shift started. But if he had to be on the dog, that didn't mean he needed to go below decks just yet. After weeks of seeing nothing but water all around, just the sight of land, a town and people was worth staying on deck.

And remember - in this system down does not mean dead. If we win the fight and can bind his wounds and heal him he will be ok. We just can't take all night and we have to deal with the bugbear first. Should be simple enough, right?

Once upon a time I really paid attention to the NFL. These days it is a casual interest at best. This is my excuse for how bad my results have been.

But I will continue to provide the rest of you with someone to look down on in the rankings. Count me in.

Subject: The Fray continues

"Aaaaarrggh!" seemed to come from both sides of the room at the same time. The louder yell came from the bugbear as Pavel's bolt buried itself in his shoulder. A much quieter, but quite annoyed, sound came from Dane as he saw his perfectly aimed arrow foiled by a last second shift by his target.

Irritated that he would be foiled by such a chance happening he grabbed another arrow from his quiver vowing to himself that he would not leave this one to chance and taking aim at the same goblin as it jumped up to charge.

He drew . . . aimed . . . and released . . . . . . and watched as the arrow buried itself in the goblin.

(OOC: Dane rolled a 13. With a +2 from proficiency that is a 15. The arrow does 1d6 piercing. I rolled a 4. I don't think he has any bonuses to damage.)
