Corban couldn't help but cringe when the dropped with a loud noise. But some things could not be avoided.

As they moved into the room he held his position in the rear. A quick glance around the room showed him the bunks and trunks all rummaged through. The Nazis, it seemed, had made it this far with enough time to go digging around. So likely they weren't under attack at this point.

Those thoughts passed through his mind as he held his position by the steps they came down - just a bit to the side so he would have cover from the side walls. He allowed the others to mover further into the room, check out the beds and the doors. He kept his eyes and rifle trained on the room they had left. It was well lit, so he should have no trouble identifying motion up there if something tried to come up on them from the rear.

Watch the rear, that was his job. He would move forward towards the door, taking up a position somewhat sheltered by the bed nooks, when they got ready to open the doors. But his eyes, as always, would be towards the rear.

Well, I'm not quite sure what the best move is. Don't gargs have some resistance to magic? Looking at my spell list either disintegrate or lightning bolt seem like the best bet. I'd lean towards disintegrate. I am very open to suggestions. That spell only hits one.

Also, a quick look on line didn't produce results - what exactly does the far reach spell do? With 3 versions of the spell on my list it seems like it should do more than allow me to reach something far away.

Do the gargoyle like critters actually look like they might be made of stone? Just checking before I choose spells.

And I blame the dwarf for suggesting the room might attack us.

Green Bay is evil. It is sort of like rooting for the evil empire. You just shouldn't do it and anything you win by doing so feels tainted. But then, aren't you a Cowboys fan?

So, what way is the door oriented? Does it line up so that it would be normal if the gravity in the room had been "Normal" - based on the way we expected it to be when we first entered the room? Or is the bottom of the door oriented to the "floor" as we are standing - just too high up on the wall?

Jarenion moved to the opposite side of the room from the door for the best vantage point. But even as he did so he had a vision of the rooms gravity flipping again. If it went back to normal it would probably just make them fall down as the side wall was likely to become the floor. Embarrassing, but not lethal. Probably.

As the others got ready to lift Sparrow he added one more comment to the confusion. "Be careful. When that door opens, down might become down again. It doesn't seem like that door agrees with our current alignment. Be ready in case we fall. We don't want Sparrow exposed in an open doorway and everybody laying on the ground."

So saying, Jarenion did two things. First, he braced himself against the wall/floor. His hope was that either the room would not flip or, if it did, he would simply be laying on his back staring at the door. He didn't Normally cast spells from his back, but there was no reason he could not do so. second, he made sure he had both a feather fall spell and a magic missile spell at the ready. Feather fall had obvious uses and the missiles had the advantage that they never missed and he could easily shoot them past Sparrow without worrying about side effects.

Subject: Being a mage had its advantages

As the group was sucked through the door Jarenion quickly flashed a feather fall spell to slow his descent, grabbing two of his companions to aid them as well. But before they even hit the ground he knew had been several arms short of what he needed. Two of the group disappeared in a flash.

Hearing Kadrin's comments about the amulet he groaned, knowing the dwarf spoke the truth. They had barely entered this accursed place on their rescue mission and they were already down 3 party members and had lost their easy escape route. At least the last two were probably safe. Still, it was hardly an auspicious beginning.

He quickly moved over to the sack on the floor where their companions had disappeared and prepared to look through it. "Well, lets see if Lun kept anything in here besides pictures of his family." With that he quickly surveyed the bags contents.

When Sparrow commented on climbing the wall he added his own comment. "If needed I have both spider climb and levitate. But I would prefer to save my spells, even low level ones. Max and Ody - can you try to help Sparrow up? If it doesn't work I'll use a spell. Make sure you have light when you get up there." So saying he moved to the opposite side of the room from the exit - hoping to have the best view possible of the exit.

I don't understand starting a game and then quitting. Sometimes real life gets in the way, but usually people post to say that. Just dropping seems . . . I don't know, *insert word here*. But it stinks. I liked Gelion and had plans for the man. The bees were only the beginning!

Isn't Thursday the 2-6 Browns against the undefeated Bengals? (Ok, undefeated Bengals? That does seem a bit odd. Almost like undefeated Lions.)

I wish you the best Ody, but . . .

Gotta go Bengals.

Can we just pretend that I didn't get any picks in for week 2 and I'll take the 8 points instead? That is a hole I am still trying to dig myself out of.

Ody - Being a fan of the Vikings means I cheer for the team. It means I want to see them win the games. It does not, however, mean that I am blind to reality. It is possible that they are not the best team in their division, although as long as a team exists in Detroit the odds of them being the worst are exceedingly thin. It is sort of like in fantasy baseball - I could pick all Twins, but I am smart enough to know that such a move is not usually a good idea. (Although I did win a league this year with 4/5 of the Twins rotation!) But when "my players" play against the Twins - I cheer for the Twins. Period. Always. If I do pick against the Vikings I certainly don't cheer for them to lose - this competition isn't worth that. But being a Viking fan doesn't mean checking my brain at the door. But then again, you are a Browns fan . . . isn't that sort of like being a Lions fan?

Gelion's pleasure at seeing his first shaft bury itself in the giant insect was fleeting. He soon found himself facing two more of the big bugs, and one of them even landed its stinger in him. He felt the venom weaken him and knew this fight was serious. Not that he had ever doubted that, but such realizations take on more significance one something sticks a stinger the size of a spear in your arm.

Gelion quickly moved back a bit. He put a little distance between himself and his antagonist so that he could fire another arrow easily. He also hoped to adjust to a position with a bit of cover from the trees. As he stepped back he fired another arrow at the beast.

It was important that they take them down quickly so they could plan and take up a decent position before more of them arrived, as was sure to happen. No hive had only 3 bees.

. . . is that when you drop them they don't bounce.

No, they just land with a heart-rending thud. And then they never act the same again. In this case, they never act again period. Yes, sacrifices were even made to the appropriate gods with no success.

In truth, I didn't lose that much as I have been very careful about backing up the stuff I really need. However, I did lose all my favorites. That means I lost the site that connects to the info on this game. I have never done any FF before so have no idea how to figure out the various combat bonuses without it. Could someone send me the appropriate link? I could google search, but as I am not 100% sure exactly what the system is I am searching for that seems like a questionable option.

I will post for Gelion as is, but obviously without any details about combat bonuses.

Subject: Head shots, it is all about head shots. At least with zombies. Everybody knew that.

Corban held his post by the main entrance. His job was to keep an eye on the rear and that is what he did. It seemed this was a place where a corpse had to be killed twice. they would need to make sure as they went deeper that any bodies they encountered were minus a head. Gruesome work, but less undesirable than fighting them twice.

Hearing the gun shots deep within the temple he smiled. Maybe the Nazis and zombie-types would take each other out. He doubted they'd be able to stroll into an empty room and pick up the pieces, but it was possible that the enemy - whichever enemy that was - might be weakened. Or maybe made stronger by a new pile of bodies. Who knew in these damnable places? Certainly a sniper from the boonies didn't.

So Corban just held his position and waited for those in charge to make the decisions. But he continued to muse about things that go bump in the night because, well, why not?

(Edit to account for the lack of a post by the CO)
Seeing Doc move to the door and begin working to open it, Corban held his position as rear guard. He didn't want to leave the entrance unguarded. Still, if it looked like more muscle would be needed, he would move over and add his efforts to those of Doc and the rest. But he would keep his eyes on the rear while doing so.

Alrighty. A smaller party will just be harder for the enemy to find, right? Should be good. We should probably talk about how to deal with that door. Things will change here a bit, but I'm guessing we will start from the same spot. Maybe. Or maybe not.

Whichever, let the games begin. Or continue. Continue modified. But there will be games. And they will continue.

There is a prince to save!!
