Thank you for the summary. I do remember that now. I suppose I could have gone back and reread the back story, but this was much easier. For me anyway. Thanks.

As for the rest of us, this is an interesting twist. I'm not overly inclined to remove that pot.

But that guy isn't supposed to be alive...

Do we know this place? Didn't we clear it out once before? Or someone did? What was up with the chief resident at that time? Was he (he?) encountered at that time? Should Jarenion know anything about this person/thing?

Ok, who expected weird crap in a game called "Weird War?"

Corban has no idea what to expect. I'll get something posted soon, but it will basically be along the lines of "that stunk, what the heck?, Keep watching the rear, what does the CO have us do?"

Ok, I haven't thought about it much yet, but a woman with a pot on her head screams "medusa" to me. Is she still lethal if the snakes are gone? Can we stick something under the pot to see if it gets bitten? Could she control that?

Topic: The Death of the Inn?
Subject: Hhhhmmmm

I read a bit more of the posts this time.

I don't think forum games are dead. Perhaps less popular than before as things evolve, but they have a charm of their own. Hell, as noted above, I'm involved in an active play-by-mail game. (Like galdiators? Check out a game called Duelmasters or Duel 2 -thus the D2 on the end of my name - it is still run by mail, but you can find it online.) The problem is that we have lost one group of players as their lives got busy and not replaced them with new ones. Notice that it has happened before - the original thread posting identified waves of "pillars of the community." I like Tann's idea of searching for new members.

If help is needed, let me know. I've never been a DM on this site, but I'd be willing to run a game if people would play in it. Staff? I know nothing about hosting website, but I'd do what I could. These days I might have more time than others do.

Subject: Say it ain't so

I first found this site around 6 years ago when a group of us from a play-by-mail game (Now that is archaic!) were looking for a site that could host a D&D game. Someone found this site. That group died off, but I stayed at the Inn. I had a layoff of a few years because of my wife's illness, but when the chance arose a year ago, I immediately found my way back.

I love this site. I love the games. I love getting to write creatively in a way that no other game lets me do. I have enjoyed the people I have been able to share these games with. It is fantastic. I admit to frustration as games I have been invested in died off, but if this site goes away, I will be deeply saddened. For as long as the site remains up, I will continue to show up here and look for postings. If there are games that need active players, I will be one.

I will be active as long as the site is and if there is something else I can do, or a game that needs an active player, let me know. Smaller is not necessarily dead.

As the self appointed champion of Denver, or maybe it is with Denver as my champion I am the self proclaimed winner of the post season!

See, all it takes is announcing your own rules and even I can win.

Topic: Continuing Where We Last Left Off Again
Subject: the wizard shall stand guard!

As the stone steps emerged from the wall Jarenion held his position. Since his staff appeared to be the best weapon against the Gargoyles he would be the last out of the room. As he carefully tried to keep an eye on all of the walls, floors, ceilings and stone surfaces for emerging gargoyles, including the stone at his feet, he spoke out to his comrades, "Be careful when you open the door. You never know which way will be "up" once it is opened."

Thinking about the chance of the room flipping on them again the mage brought the spell feather fall to mind - just in case. And with the spell in mind and his staff in hand he grinned. It seemed fighters weren't the only ones who occasionally like a little physical smiting. He was a meat shield! Ok, a small one, but it was time to be the muscle of the group. Well, sort of. Based on a magic staff. But wielded with muscles.

As he scanned the walls, floor and ceiling for emerging gargoyles, Jarnenion kept his thinking cap on and also kept his eye out for any sign that there might be additional traps or secret doors in the room. Dungeons never held such things, right?

I'm not against using the stone stairs. I'm just a little worried about running out of spells down the road. But we have to get down the road, or up the road, or whatever, first.

So, stair it.
Max can check for traps.
Jarenion can hold rear guard.

Just be sure to post that you are watching the walls, floor, ceiling because those things could come back. If they are afraid of the staff it might keep them away - or it might make them target Jarenion if he seems split off from the herd. At least they can't pull people away through the walls - I think.

I think making stone stairs might be a waste of a spell. Are we over thinking it? How worried are we about attack? I'd probably use the original plan, then have Jarenion spider climb out. he'd be available at the bottom to stand guard with his staff. Although he can't aid an attack on those up top from there. Stupid stone swimming gargoyles.

Ties? there are no ties in football!!!

Ok, so they are, but ignore that detail.

Each pick a point total. Closest to the actual spread by which Carolina wins without going over is the winner. If Denver wins, I win. Just because.

The earlier plan was to try and avoid using spells. But Jarenion can easily use spider climb on himself or someone else. I think he has levitate as well, but I'd have to check.

Subject: And the gargoyles are down. Sort of.

Ok, so we need a plan. I guess we go back to getting out of the room the same way we were about to try before - the door up the wall. But we need to be careful - somethings know we are here. And those gargoyles could come at us with no notice out of any wall at any time. Or any floor. I'm not a fan of those things.

What say the rest?

Subject: Sacrifice? No, I didn't order any sacrifice...

Corban held back from laughing at the waxy-lady-things comments. Laughing would probably not be well received by either the lady, who might be offended, or his own team, who might mistake it for hysteria. So instead he held his position, keeping an eye on the lady, but more so watching the parties rear.

He was curious what would happen to this lady. But he was pretty sure it wouldn't be their sacrifice. Not one graced by Star anyway. Guns ready, as always, he thought.

I guess I still will pick Carolina and Denver
