Subject: The middle of the lake flats?

Daxos was trying to learn something about his companions when the cleric ran up to the pavilion holding out the domino holy symbol.

Hearing the questionable details, Dax looked up at the sky. he had spent plenty of time outside of the city exploring, but one reason he was still here to continue exploring was that he was always cautious to make sure he had a retreat available before the rains came. And the rains were not far away. Why did it always happen this way? The rain . . .

Wait. The rain. "Hang on a moment. That token, is that blood on it? Let me see it quickly. (He takes a look at it using his googles of minute seeing. What is the red?) Jacob, would that have lasted through a night of rains? Would the acid and water of the rains have scrubbed it clean? If so, whoever dropped it, cleric or otherwise, is within a days hike."

(edit based on new info)
Dax looks closely at the domino and notices that the blood is only on one side. "Well, it is blood. But, it is only on one side of the symbol. If that side was down, the rain might not have affected it. So there goes my theory." he looks at the one whose town they are going to save. "Might this be from the missing clerics?"

"I'll go with and keep my eyes open." When he gets to the site where the symbol was found he will use his spyglass to look around.

Subject: Oh, now this is fun...

Gelion Greyflood shook his head to clear the fog. It helped a little. Just a little. He tried again. That helped more, but it also brought the realization that the fog was not entirely in his head. Or, more accurately, the lack of light. Looking around it appeared that he was on his hands and knees in a cave that was poorly lit by little crystals.

*Thump*

What? Where? This made no sense. Where was . . .

*Thump*

he? That nois . .

*Thump*

Gelion had grown up around cattle and he knew the sound of hooves when he heard it. He quickly scrambled to his feet and looked around. He saw a few other figures who seemed to be doing the same thing he was - trying to figure out where they were.

*Thump* *Thump* *Thump*

The hooves thundered towards him and Gelion pushed to the side of the cave as the massive beast approached. A monstrous beast charged into the room and flung one of the other figres against a well. "That's gotta hurt," Gelion thought with a grimace desperately looking around for a way to escape the same fate. He saw none.

But don't give up without a fight he thought to himself, you have fought too many battles against those who thought themselves strong and untouchable. The fight can't end here.

He grabbed his bow, it didn't seem likely to do more than anger the beast, but really, what else could he do? He moved towards the back of the beast along the walls, hoping to find a way to slide past the beast and escape out the tunnel through which it arrived. He wasn't hopeful as the things bulk seemed to block everything, but it was the only exit he saw. As he moved towards the lone exit he fired arrow after arrow. He aimed at the eyes or the underbelly if he could, otherwise it was simply the old story of "let it fly."

Yeah, what are the odds he has something planned for the night? He'd never try to kill us on our first night out, right?

Can we bet with our water tokens on how quickly you send beasties after us? Or maybe the clerics just start screaming.

Subject: Rain, wood, clerics and a pause for the night

I believe we stopped for the night. You can't safely travel at night because the acid rain will kill you. Thus this shelter exists to protect us from the rain. If I read the original post correctly, the clerics went for the wood in the evening when we reached the shelter, not in the morning. So technically it is evening. That kind of messes with the post about getting up and cleaning up, but it may not matter.

It probably depends on if the DM has something planned for the night. If not it would be morning and we move out.

I just want to throw this in as you begin your adventure into places where no man has gone before - I'm very jealous of your beginning adventure. I had too many irons in the fire to join this one, but if later an opening ever emerges, keep me in mind.

I will leave you to your own thread now, but have fun. It looks really cool!

Topic: Slate: The Hundred Years of Rain
Subject: These flats are boring, seriously boring, but the people are not.

Daxos of Clan Turin had heard a little about the disturbance the night before, but not being fully a part of the community or the monastery, he knew few details. As he listened, he knew the town of Pike was in serious trouble. Could Dax do anything to help? He wasn't sure exactly, but it seemed possible. He could add his bow to the group that would defend the water. He might be able to help find out what happened to the clerics. Whatever it was, he was doing no good sitting here in Lake City. "Make your life matter," his father had always said. His mother would not be pleased at this sort of volunteerism, but she would be proud.

As an unlikely group of others volunteered, Dax eventually added his name to the list as well. "I'll do what I can," was all he said.

As the group crossed Serenity Flats Daxos studied his surroundings and the group he travelled with. He couldn't decide if they really were unusual, or just the sort of strange folks that made up the world in these strange days. Who knew what the world would bring? As for the flats they travelled through, Dax was very curious about them at first - he had never travelled the flats. The mountains he knew fairly well, but not the flats. Still, even his curiosity waned as mile after mile of nothingness passed by. "If this terrain can bore even me, it must be bland," he thought to himself, for it was rare that he couldn't find something to investigate. But here there was . . . nothing but flat dust.

As the group settled in for the evening and the clerics went for firewood, Daxos listened as the rest of the group introduced themselves. Finally, it was his turn.
He grinned at the group. "I'm Daxos of Clan Turin, up in the mountains. Loudwater is a small town, not all that far from Middleton, just hanging on near the edge of things." He glanced at Damian, whose harrowing adventure had brought them all here. "I hope we can help Damian. A few barrels of water is a nice start, but the loss of the clerics seems like a long term problem. Maybe we can make a difference somehow." With that he looked around at the rest of the group. "It is a pleasure to meet all of you. I will assist however I can."

Jarenion entered the room with the others. This "person" in front of him worried him a great deal. Something wasn't right. This isn't what the legends suggested. Could the Lich be alive (well, alive in lich terms) and this be one of the witches? Theories raced through his mind, but none of them had more than a wisp of smoke for a basis.

He wasn't sure he had have started with the first question that was asked, but there needed to be a start somewhere. Carefully he made sure the door to the room behind them was shut and he looked to be sure this figure was actually bound. Did he have a mirror on him, just in case?

He waited for a response, keeping his eyes on everything - using the excuse of keeping an eye out for the gargoyles making another appearance for keep his eyes away from the thing in the room. He clutched his staff and waited.

I have been going back and forth - our game manager suggested the party could use either. It does seem that a rogue might be best . . . oh, the options.

Oh heck, I went with a gnome rogue. Curious little guy. Working on it - might not quite finish tonight.

Subject: Now why did she have to go and do that?

Corban pulled himself up from the floor. Trust a lady with too-much makeup to ruin a good night in a haunted temple.

As he stood, shook of the pain, and adjusted himself Corban looked at the remains of the "lady." Hearing Stars words he did have to wonder about who was in charge. He doubted it was the Nazis, somehow they didn't really seem like the sort of thing that would that to a witch. Then again, maybe those were bullet holes. Hhhmmm. He didn't like the idea of Nazis in control of nasty bad magical, mythical, demonic stuff. But they kept trying. Stubborn jerks. So Yee Olde would just have to be stubborn as well.

With such thoughts on his mind he resumed his position. Watch the rear and keep a general eye and ear out for anything out of the ordinary until the boss pointed them towards the other door. At least that is where he assumed they would go. But probably not until someone had checked out that statue and the leftovers from the lady.

Ok, so we don't have personal knowledge of the place, but it was supposed to have been cleared out. Dang liches won't stay dead, you'd think they were undead or something.

But what then is this lady in front of us? A witch? I'm still thinking medusa given the pot. Or at least something that you don't want to look directly at. Do we just announce that we are outsiders - which is what the first post up seems to be doing? Or try to fool her? I really have no idea. I suppose we talk to her, but what do we ask?

just something like

"(Stupid liches name here) isn't available right now. What did he want with you? Oh, and nice pot." ???

Can I get a roll-call of what each person is running at this point?

I think we have two rangers and a wizardy type.

That probably leaves me in the rogue or cleric area - I'll take the rogue unless someone else is dying for it. I just want to be sure before I put a lot of time into this little guy.

I'll work on a character this weekend.

I was thinking perhaps a sorcerer, but am actually open to anything. It seems we have a couple of rangers and one spell caster. Cleric is not my favorite, so I guess I'd go with a rouge if we need one. But I'll check back before I start with character generation and try to fill in the gaps.
