Topic: Hunter the Vigil, A supernatural Game
Subject: Now that is curious

Castle listened to the girls talk for a bit. There wasn't much new to their story except, perhaps, the bit about the man in white returning later. It made it all seem a bit more likely that he was involved in some way. And a bit more likely that he was real. Well, Castle actually knew he was real from personal experience - he had seen the thing himself. But continued sightings at points of interest was, well, a point of interest. He thanked the girls and moved on hearing much the same story over and over again.

As he took another drink and continued looking around a strange sight caught his eye. A cloaked individual moved through the crowd as if invisible. In fact, even noticing him, Castle could barely keep an eye on him. His eye kept losing focus and sliding off of him. He searched for details - height, weight, gender, clothing - anything to keep his focus on the man. He hated staring. His preference had always been to stay in the shadows, to study things quietly and to keep his interest a secret. But this, what was this? What could walk amongst them and remain unseen? What could keep the eye from lingering in such a fashion?

He desperately wanted to keep his eye on this thing. What was it? He wanted to know. But he also did not wish to draw attention to himself. There was a lifetime of habit in that trait. Staring would be certain to draw its attention. Besides, whatever it was, it had already left some clue with the pastor. Perhaps he need to not completely give himself away.

And so he did not stare.

But he didn't give up on his hunt either. He moved towards the stairs. He tried to glance towards the figure to keep a general sense of its position, knowing this was likely futile, but trying anyway. But he worked on trying to get to the stairs ahead of it - there was nowhere else it was likely to go. And as he approached the stairs he held a position and watched as intently as he could. He knew what he was looking for. He had seen him before - the cloak, the scarf - if anyone could find the thing again, it would be him.

(OOC: As noted, Alexander will NOT stare right away, but attempt to do so in a more quiet way by cutting him off at the stairs. At that point, if he can he will try to see if there is more to see. (Probably not) If he doesn't feel directly threatened he will speak to him before he leaves saying simply "who are you?" If he can not catch him again, or he feels directly threatened in some way he will say nothing. Afterwards he would approach Father Preston after the others have gone to speak quietly and privately about the letter, although I suspect that will require a second posting.)

Ok, guys. What to do? In all the posts going up I missed this one.

DM: I'm a little unclear - are all the doors closed? If so, how can we see the beds, etc...?

To the group: I'm thinking Trossach would investigate behind everything that "could be hid behind." Once the place looks more secure he would take to looking at the trunks. Then the doors. Any other thoughts?

What does "Lum is seriously wounded? mean? In the text of the post you seemed to indicate he fell to the ground with smoking armor, but didn't take much damage. So, I'm not quite sure how badly hurt he is. Just curious so that I know how to read things in the future.

Subject: A rogues life it is

Dan walked along next to the wagon and wondered if he had found a spot to settle for awhile. Not settling like most people might consider the word, for it did not look like he would be buying a house, getting a spouse and starting a family any time soon. But settling in terms of finding a group to be with for awhile. Perhaps this group would work for that.

Two dwarves, an elf and two humans. It was an interesting crew. A loner, a nut-job, a noble and a holy man. Still more interesting. Still, it beat trying to work alone. And although this was just another caravan job like others he had taken, Dane had hope that this group might somehow become a bit more than that. He'd spoken to the others a bit and they all seemed to have a bit of the "adventuring bug." And Dane knew he had it. He wanted to get out and about. He didn't want to have to work the streets. He wanted to have some adventure and see some of the world. Neverwinter had seemed as good a place as any to begin. And this group seemed like it might work as well. They were an interesting group, but it seemed from his readings that most groups were. What of it? They seemed like good folks and trustworthy enough. In fact, he supposed they probably had more reason to doubt him than he did them. Well, except maybe the dwarf who kept talking to himself. He might need watching, although from what he'd heard in the mumbles, he kept an eye on himself anyway.

But for now it was just a walk through the landscape next to a wagon. Still it could be worse, he could be back on the streets of Luskan and Neverwinter. And it was a pleasant day. (Assumption?) He walked along to the left of the wagon, bow in hand, and kept his eyes on the country side. He wanted adventure in a general sense, but right now he really just wanted to enjoy the sunshine.

You made a Q&A threat?

Wow, what happens if we don't ask or answer????!!

But seriously, and this should probably get posted in the threat, are you looking for a bit of character introduction and a bit on where we are riding or walking?

Subject: One last time

I'm going to throw this out there one last time in case I can entice anyone into the longest running game at the Inn - Trilogy. The game currently has one opening (maybe two) - a human ranger/cleric and a Halfling thief/mage. Both are at around 12th level as is everyone else in the group, including my own big human fighter. It is a great game with a solid core group of players that has been running around trying to save the world for about 10 years now. Don't do it in place of this game, just as an addition to it. Come join the fun. "Trilogy War Recruitment" is the thread to look for and Tann is the DM. If you have questions, just ask.

The Norm the merrier. As long as he hates laser tipped kitty-cats, I'm good with it.

I have to admit I've never understood the desire to play a half-baked character. But, hey, if madness is what you want, then madness it is. As long as you aim your spells at the goblins and not us, then we are probably all ok.

Subject: So few people left

Daxos listened as the oldest gave his pronouncement and the crowd cheered. His head hung a bit lower and his heart felt heavy. He knew the couple were guilty and deserved punishment. He thought he understood some of what they had done to this city. They were not innocent. He had no illusions about that. But death? Deserved, maybe. But even if deserved it seemed such a terrible waste. There were so few people left. Wasn't there some way to bring these two back into civilization? Whatever was left of it.

But what could he do about it? The gnome doubted his words were change the minds of these cheering people. What would he have to say beyond "we must all work together and save all people!" It sounded silly and utopian even to him. But at some point they would run out of people. And yet there didn't seem to be anything he could do about it. So for now he just sat back and listened. What would they decide to do and when would they do it? He could but listen.

He did desire, however, once he heard the pronouncement, to go and talk to the ferals again. Perhaps there was something they knew that could yet save their lives. Perhaps they knew something more of the water to the north. Yes, he would seek them out at the first opportunity.

Subject: Lets get sparking

Rhyson smiled as his spark spell felled one of the cats. He wasn't sure it was finished off since its lights continued to glow, but even if only temporarily down, it should give them at least a brief break. And it did seem to indicate that his spells could be effective. That was good.

What wasn't good was that there were two more coming from the other side of the pile. He shifted his position to put his back to the wall (If possible) and turned towards the junk pile. He readied another spark jolt spell, hoping to cast it the moment something showed itself over or through the pile. He hadn't been able to hit both of the cats on this side, but perhaps the new ones would prove more willing to move forward as a group.

(Rhyson casts spark jolt the moment something appears on the pile. The goal is to hit both if possible, but if not, he will targe the one closest to him.)

Subject: Plans

I don't think you need to push us one way or another, but it is helpful to know a bit. Sometimes GMs have a plot in mind. For this one, it isn't clear if we are going down a specific path to try and save the world or just wandering. Either route is fine, but if you are vague we might not end up picking the path you want and we might have a fee extra weeks of standing around going, 'what do we do now?'

Subject: Thoughts

Well, we have another post.

Dax is extremely unhappy about executing the two ferals. Not surprised, but not happy. That isn't why they were saved. But I don't know that he would intervene either. What would you do with them? Keep them alive and was precious water on them? I don't know, I just know he wouldn't like it. It is hard to say they don't deserve it. What about the rest of you? Any ideas?

Do we have any sense at all of what we are supposed to do next? I'm feeling kind of lost. I'd be tempted to say that we are supposed to rescue the ferals and then use them as guides to take us to the magical place of healthy rains in the north, whatever it was called, except they don't know anything more about it than the name. So they seem to be worthless as guides. Maybe we try to talk to them before they are executed.

Is there anything else to do besides just sit around and wait to hear what the town leaders plan to do? It sounded like there was a possibility of moving the entire town. We could help with that, but it doesn't really seem like the most adventuresome plan. Just wait and see what happens? I wonder when the execution would take place.

I guess I talked myself into maybe trying to talk to the ferals again, although I don't see much coming from it, and then seeing what will happen - in terms of the execution and the moving of the town. Maybe the DM will give us a hint. Ideas? Anyone?

Ody - my only reason for turning the other way was that we have two more coming up very fast from the rear. Someone needs to look that way. I thought that maybe Rhyson's ability with that spell to have an area of effect might increase his chances to hit one of those two. But if not him, somebody should turn around. I'm ok with that plan.

Also, I need to double check the spell.

Alacrity - with the shock jolt spell - it the cat is close to Lum would he be affected by the spell also? I know I asked this question when fighting the beetles, but I forget these things.

The game is back and the kitties are attacking. Nice!

FYI - Rhyson will probably put his back to a wall and try to deal with the two coming over the pile.

Subject: If anyone is interested

I am looking forward to this game - it looks like a lot of fun and I think I am going to enjoy my human rogue.

It is possible to be in more than one game. If anyone is interested in a game at higher levels - Trilogy is the longest running game at the Inn. 10+yearsit is a great game with consistent players, but we have had one character on auto-pilot for a bit now. We have a really cook ranger/cleric named Roan available. Check out the Trilogy War recruitment thread and contact Tann. It is a great game.

(I am not suggesting that one instead of this one - it is in addition to this game!)

Was planning on the standard point spread you offered.

Ok, I know I am not overly tech savvy, but I can't get the pdf on the first page of this thread to work. I'm referring to the one with the character sheet. It doesn't allow me to write on it. If I save it, it just opens back to the web page. If I save it as a word document or some such it doesn't function at all. Anyway, I'm working on the character, but not currently in that thread.

I'd offer employment as well, but all I could provide would be student papers to grade - and without pay. That probably isn't what you are looking for.

Good luck.
