Ok, I just realized I never dealt with the level up, which I would definitely like to do. A quick question as I try to do so - which edition of D&D is this? It isn't on the cover of the book you shared a link to and I apparently didn't write it down - I have enough characters running around that I can't keep them straight unless I write it down.

Subject: To hunt a man in white

Alexander Castlebrandt listened as the two girls spoke about the supposed valedictorian of the local school. "She shook hands with him? Did you ever see him around other than that last time? Did anyone actually see her use drugs?" He doubted that they would have much more to add as they seemed to have already offered everything up, but it couldn't hurt to ask. "Have you seen him anywhere since?"

When the young ladies seemed to have offered all they had to offer he added, "I'm sorry for the losses your school has suffered. I saw the accident that took one of your teachers. It is a lot for one community to suffer. Maybe at some point we can figure out the truth, whatever it might be." With that he moved on to other groups.

He had seen others reacting to the comments about the man in white. He gradually moved around the room as unobtrusively as possible and spoke with anyone who seemed to have had some contact. This included the woman who had spoken, but others as well. He tried to find details - how recently had he been seen? Where? How much before any given tragedy had the contact occurred? What sort of contact? How had their behavior changed? Did there seem to be more than one contact with the man?

He tried not to have tunnel vision - he had come here with suspicions about the man in white, but did he really know it was all about him? So he also kept his ears open for other possible theories. And were there any tragedies that didn't seem to have any connection to the man in white? Was there any other common theme?

At this point it was really about gathering information - about the man in white and about the others at the meeting.

(OOC: Basically, Castle is just gathering information based on the questions above. He is mingling as best he can. If the biker or the kid return he would make sure to speak with them - both had reacted to mention of the man in white. At this point he doesn't really know what to do other than gather information. If things wind down here with no further information, he would go home and try to do research on anything resembling the man in white. He would also probably look up the two pastors and their respective churches. Castle is not a very religious man.)

Daxos looked around as the group was led through Pike. His hopes had been raised by the bright and shining walls of the city, but inside it was worse than he had imagined. It didn't seem like there was much left. He looked at the Ferals and thought about their part in the cities decline. It seemed hard to fathom. But so it was. How would the city treat these two, he wondered. He hoped there was a way to . . .he wasn't even sure what. But he hoped something could be worked out.

When they got to the stone fortress of a city hall the priests were led inside and the ferals were led to their cells. Daxos wanted a look around. He had spent much of his young life so far digging through the ruins of cities near his home. This city was still alive, if barely. But he was still curious what might remain.

After the priests and ferals had disappeared, he spoke to the others. "I want to look around. The guard seems to be right that there isn't much here, but I'd still like to see it. If anyone wants to join me they are welcome. I'm not expecting much, but it seems more interesting than sitting here. I'll probably head in the direction of the river."

He waited for a minute to see if anyone wanted to join him. Then he headed in the direction of the river. He wasn't looking for anything in particular. Maybe something that struck a chord from his previous explorations? Maybe something that looked interesting? Maybe people? He wandered around in the ghost of a town.

I don't think anybody is on the other side of the pile. Rhyson set off the alarm before Tomiki started to climb, I think. Plus, the DM's post said we "heard" another machine on the other and stuff drop to the ground. So we are assuming there are more on the other side - I'm guessing two more as things tend to be symmetrical, but we really don't know. Somebody should be either climbing the pile or, maybe more likely, getting ready to shoot that way. I already posted to have Rhyson use the jolt blast spell on the two on this side.

And in case it isn't obvious, guess this place has a lot of power left somewhere.

Ok, folks, what is the plan?

Do we head straight down or not? I think we probably need a vote so we can make such a post and get going.

Trossach would vote for going down.

Also, he will look for a big sword or, if not, a big axe to have cleaned up. I'll double check the list of the types of weapons that were likely there, but I'm pretty sure an axe was on the list.

Rhyson lightly tossed a small piece of junk on the pile to see if it reacted in anyway. Crap! His concern had been if somehow this roadblock was booby trapped, maybe with an electrical current or something. Instead the piece set off a small tumble of garbage and made a fair amount of noise. That was not the plan. Nor was the alarm that started blaring. Or the cats that dropped from the ceiling. (And conveniently landed on their feet.) Nope, that had not been the plan at all. He did feel a little better knowing that Tomiki trying to climb the pile would almost certainly have set off the alarms as well. But it was still annoying. He'd thrown it lightly . . .

But the arrival of the kittens prevented him from pondering the unfairness of loud junk piles any further. Instead he got to ponder little cats with blasters and steel claws. Nice. Maybe they just wanted to be scratched behind the ears? Or maybe they just needed a little jolt.

Rhyson heard the others on the far side of the pile, but quickly decided to deal with the two directly in front of him. He cast spark jolt, hoping to catch both of them in its 6 yard by 6 yard area of effect. It shouldn't be hard. He wondered how tough little cats were.

Besides, if he missed somehow, maybe the blast would create a little visible jolt and the kittens would chase after it like a little red dot. 'Take this seriously, stupid,' he thought to himself as he sent his spell towards the blaster armed robot cats.

I'll try to get a post up this weekend

We probably need to start figuring out what to do. I don't know that yet. Maybe Norman can lead us to where this guy was seen? Gotta get the kid tied into a "group" of sorts as well. I'm not sure what to do with the information we have at this point.

Get stuff typed up and then it just disappears.

Ok, to repeat everything I already typed . . . . Rhyson does have the chain lightning spell. Effective and would hit both on this side. But it costs a lot of spell points. He also has a shock jolt spell which will hit anything within a 6 yard by 6 yard area - maybe both depending on the forthcoming map. But it doesn't hit as hard. How tough are a group of little kitty cats? I wouldn't think they are as tough as a couple of VW sized beetles, but you never know. The image doesn't exactly make them look like they want a scratch behind the ears.

I'm inclined to start with shock jolt, but I'd like to hear from others what you think would be good. Also, I'm assuming Rhyson will try to hit both on this side of the pile. Do we worry about the other two right away?

Everyone will be patient. The one bit of advice I would give - if you know it will take awhile, just put a 1 sentence post up in the Q&A to let people know. Then we know it isn't fizzling. But I'll be here. No worries. You ng Alexander Castlebrandt has a devil to catch.

To answer your question Ody ...

As a spellcaster Rhyson was not given any cantrips. There are different levels, but nothing that really qualifies as a cantrip. Nor does Rhyson have any other spells that mean "clean."

When we first entered the hallway Rhys examined the window carefully. I believe the dirt and grime were on the other side. We could break one, although I don't know how wise that would be. It probably wouldn't be my first choice, at least before we examine the rest of the passage. But it is an option.
