Topic: Bring Me That Horizon
Subject: Pirates, sailors, guards and whores creating a ruckus? Inconceivable!

Wiley moved quickly, but cautiously, towards the docks. He watched as the guards gained some distance ahead of him. He didn't want anything to do with them. Pirates tend to prefer to avoid the law, after all. He just hoped that some other stupid crewman from the Dog wasn't the source of the problem. Pirates do tend to attract the law, after all.

He groaned a bit inwardly, with his imagination letting him envision all sorts of messes his comrades could get him in. But he continued to follow the guards at a distance - the commotion seemed to be down towards where he was supposed to meet First Mate Cole anyway.

As he got closer to the docks the crowds go thicker, with many people rushing back towards Wiley, which didn't make his progress any easier. Caution took the lead. About a block from the docks, Wiley ducked into a side street - as best as he could tell it should move him further down the beach and closer towards where the Dog's skiff was located if he needed to get back to the ship. Hopefully it would also allow him to come out on the docks/shore on the other side of the commotion. If the roads ran the way he hoped they did, he should be able to look back at the source of the commotion and back towards where he was to meet the First Mate. The two locations seemed close together. Wiley had never been a fan of coincidences and his imagination provided many possibilities, few of them good, as he picked up speed down the side street. He hadn't given up on caution, but at the moment it seemed to be losing the race to imagination.

Subject: Wiley = Cracker

The name is William "Crakcer" Wiley.

You seem to put him in two spots - mixing up Wiley with Shark Tooth. Wiley/Cracker was never in a fight to get bruised up. So if I'm reading it right, Shark Tooth is the only one next to the First Mate. The actual Wiley/Cracker is headed towards the docks cautiously. Correct? I'll post based on that assumption.

I was assuming that walkie talkies - whether pre-fab or home made had the same problem with interception. Tracing varies, but not interception. Am I wrong?

Also, the $200 option - the cubes. Are they harder to intercept?

Ok, it seems we are in a store and in need of some communication. Fixer has a couple of options I'd like your in put on.

1. Store bought walkie talkies - Fixer would semi-veto this because they are easily traced. $30 for a pair.

2. Make them for about $65 each. Basic walkies. Non-traceable. Or at least hard to trace.

3. NuCybe Radio Splices. Quick. Just plug them in. More private than walkie talkies, I assume. Less visible maybe? But they cost $200 each.

I think Fixer would choose the some-assembly required method. But I'm not sure how much we are worried about the trace issue. Also, how many do we need. I started off assuming that it would be one per person. But I think when I read the posts we were likely to be in 2 groups. Can we get by with just two? Or 4? Or what? This is actually what I am least confident about.

Give me a little feedback and I'll get a post up.

If second place is the biggest loser, then I'm not even the biggest loser. That's pretty good, right?

Playoff picks forthcoming, but really all that matters will be Viking picks.

Sweet, Wiley learned something called "progress!"

See what happens when you don't go around getting into deadly fights??? Good grief, it is almost as bad as travelling with a band of rogues and pirates! Oh well, I guess there is that. . .

As for Cracker there isn't much for him to do right now besides go back and report. Now what he sees there could be entertaining.

Subject: Not much to do at the moment

William Wiley walked out of the tavern unsure of the value of what he had learned. He had a name of a person and a ship. Who was it? what did this person control in this town? If he was in control of the town why was he linked to a ship? And the Minnow . . . he'd seen that ship earlier on his travels along the docks, he was sure of it.

Well, there wasn't much for it now but to head back to where he was supposed to meet the first mate. Hopefully she'd find some value in what he had to offer. Probably not, of course, such was the way of Hellfire, but at least it was something. Clearly at least one of the sailors thought the information was something that shouldn't have been shared.

So once he'd left the darkness of the tavern behind he headed out through the sun back to the appointed meeting place. This town was making him nervous and he wasn't sure why.

So, it seems we are still waiting for one pirate to post. We need to get this ship moving again! A pirate ship with no wind in its sails is a sad and dangerous thing.

Subject: Time to get up and running

Ok gang, a long read in the PM from our GM (PM? Punk Master?) and some healthy reading so far on the site has me sort, kinda, in a way, ready to roll. I was going to wait for someone else to post again before I put anything in since it seems to basically just need a "lets avoid the brawl" sorta reaction.

My one real note is that this game is way outside of my wheelhouse. Hopefully that will make it a really cool experience. It also means I might well miss some obvious things. Please do not hesitate to poke and comment when you see something I could/should or should not do.

Subject: Time for the group to talk

To all of you with whom I hope to share this grand adventure:

It seems that we are getting close to launching this crazy campaign. I have Sirion of Smoke Mountain almost ready to go. He is a pretty straight forward human sorcerer. I chose not to go with any of the "elemental sorcerer" or fancy familiar (plain hawk) stuff. Just plain old guy who looks very normal but has some pretty darn cool abilities. Burning things down is his specialty. Not as creative as some of your characters, but he should be fun to run.

Are there any magic items we need to make sure that we have as a group?
-Sirion has the smallest size bag of holding.
-Should we be getting potions of healing?
-Are thundersticks or tanglefoot bags worth it at this level? At low levels they are very useful, especially when spell casters run out of spells.
-Are there any items you would recommend for a sorcerer? I saw a healing belt on someone else's character and that thing looks super helpful for a low cost. I might suggest it for everyone.

Since someone asked about it earlier - Sirion does have a very high charisma (20 after adding the couple of points he gets for being 8th level) and so can easily be a spokesperson for the group. I got an ok from Grugg to use diplomacy instead of bluff for my class skill since they are similar and I see Sirion more in that vein. He does have a little bluff and intimidate as well - since his charisma gives him a big bonus in those areas it seemed a waste no to put something into it.

So, it seems I'm taking over the fixer character. I don't even much know what that means. I will be reading the character sheet and a bit of the back story, but any general information anyone wants to share would be appreciated. I'll try to get caught up enough to get something posted by this weekend.

Topic: Bring Me That Horizon
Subject: Wait, is that actual information?????

"‘Tis no' his place," Roman leans forward to eye Cracker from around his shipmate's shoulder. "You want t' pick up work on the Minnow, you'll need t' talk with Gory Tremane. Best hurry, though." Eyes widening in realization, the curly-haired drinker falls immediately quiet and settles his gaze guiltily into his drink.

"Barkeep!" Fulvio hiccups. "Another!"

Cracker allows the other to lean back quietly without pressing since he clearly wanted to do so. After drinking a little while seeming to drink a lot Cracker stumbled out the words, "I needs be goin' for now." He stood from his stool at the bar and in so doing stepped around the man in the middle. He flipped a coin on the bar and said "have one on me boys. I 'preciate the company." Glancing towards the one who had spoken who was well into his cups, he asked quietly, "where?"

How he responded would determine Crackers next move.

(Assuming he gets a reasonable response that doesn't demand a follow up . . .)

Cracker nodded slightly to the man who had spoken, the whole conversation taking place behind the back of the other. He lifted his mug one more time and offered a quiet "to the sea!" cheer to them both. Finishing his drink he headed out of the tavern and back towards the place he was to meet the First Mate, wondering about the usefulness of what he had learned.
