One more paint related question:

What happens to it if we get the life support turned back on?  Will it get sucked into the system and ruin something?  Will it simply stop floating and  . . .what?  Will there be artificial gravity to make it fall "down?"  Will it coat stuff with wet paint?

Alex moved intot he open passage with the others.  He would go with a couple or others to look for the faint sign of life.  That should be intriguing enough.  What could live out here?

As he moved towards the room in question he was basically just following the leader.  He used his time to look around for anything of interest.

He tried to grab some of the paint flakes.  He was confused by them.  What kind of paint was it?  Industrial?  And what would make paint melt?  He looked closely at it and tried to get some of it into a small container.  They would want to examine some of it, and as soon as they got the lifesupport going . . . .actually, he wasn't quite sure what it would do.  He spoke up before the other group headed towards mechanical.  "What happens to all these paint flakes if you get life support back on?  Will they get sucked into the air system and ruin it? Just drop to the floor and cover everything with a thin coat of paint?  Would that damage anything we need?  Or our suits?  Is there anything we need to cover before heating this place up?"  He continued to look around for sources for the paint.

He also looked at the door that was punched out.  Was there any chance of detecting a shape in the damage?

Is there anywhere in particular the captain wants us to go?  As a pilot Alex would be inclined to head for the flight deck.  Maybe the sensor array as a second choice.

Also, just a thought, but wasn't this ship supposed to be carrying a huge quantity of platinum?  Platinum is silver in color.  Is it possible that either the flecks are really platinum and not paint, or that the platinum they thought they were carrying was just painted bars?

Another question could be what kind of paint it is.  Industrial?  Of the sort you would paint a ship with?  Or something else?  Is anything else around her painted that color?  (Keep an eye out as you move through the ship.)  Also, why would it melt?  I know it is the black and even the heat of our bodies warms it remarkably, but does paint usually melt?  Melt into what, exactly?  Wet paint?  Something we can take back to the Destiny and test?

And, of course, what the heck is the paint doing  throughout the ship?  (Or at least two rooms so far)

I just looked and I've been hanging around the Inn for over 10 years now.  Yet when I joined it seemed like it already had a long history.  Since I just saw a thread saying Audalis is 30 years old I guess that does make me a young punk.  The games are great and the characters I've met have been great.

Alex watched as the others manually opened the door into the Demeter.  He was almost bouncing with eagerness, but a lifetime of being taught the value of patience held him in place.  He waited and watched, continually looking over the hull of the ship for some sort of clue.

When the door opened and the group moved forward they found exactly what they had expected - nothing.  Nothing, that is except closed doors, floating crap and torn tie downs.  Nothing exciting, certainly.  At least not at first glance.  He saw others looking at the silvery stuff, so for the moment he let them.  He moved to a few of the tie downs.  They had appeared torn when he first entered.  He inspected a couple of them.  Had they been cut or torn?  Did it look like a quick decompression could have ripped whatever they had been holding out of the ship?  If so, he wondered who had done it?  Those inside the ship to prevent whoever had attacked it from getting it?  A blast at someone coming to the door?  Or maybe those who attacked the ship had sent it into the black.  He didn't know, but that last seemed unlikely if these straps had held the treasure the ship was believed to have been carrying.

He looked at the floor - was there any indication there of the size of objects held?  The floor was grating - he shined a light down there - was there anything to be seen in the grating?  There was no reason not to be thorough.  But then, floating out here in the black you couldn't expect things to settle down their either.  He looked at the exit wondering what had been jettisoned.  How long had the ship been out here?  Would it be possible to backtrack along its course and figure out its location when the doors had been opened?  If you could do that, could you figure out the trajectory of whatever went out that way?  It should be possible.  But if whatever it was had really been that valuable, then whoever had attacked the ship would have been able to do the same.  There was no reason to doubt that it had been attacked.

Finished inspecting the straps and grates, the pilot took a quick look at the silvery stuff the others were examining.  Then it was time to wait paitently for the door-breakers.  Even in the black there was work for someone who knew how to pick a lock.

Galydan leaned into the doorway of the ruined tower to get a look around.  It took a moment for his eyes to adjust ot the light and the first thing he noticed was that the building was as crumbling on the inside as it was on the outside.   Whatever upper floors had once existed now were simply rotten timbers at this feet.  Only a small shelf of the third floor seemed to remain in place.  Stairs once wound their way around the tower, but the bottom half was gone - they started a good 15' above the ground.  Even at a glance Galydan could tell that the reliability of what remained was uncertain.

But he didn't focus on the rubble for long - movement quickly caught his eye.  In the higher reaches several things wre flying around.  At first glance they looked like bats, but the mosquito like probiscis quickly ended that possibility.  They were roughly the size of a good sized raven.  And they were diving towards the wizard he couldn't get a good count.  Three or four for sure, maybe more.  The thought, "I ran so far away" came to mind as the flock descended.

Fixer listened as the others talked and moved into position.  He waited and watched everyone going into or out of the alley.  If their target came out he wasn't going to miss her.  When Ghlan had finally gotten into position and the group was ready they headed into the alley.  Could you look unobtrusive in a spot like this?  He didn't know.  But he tried.  His head kept rotating as he looked everywhere for any sign of trouble.  He looke dofr thier quarry, he looked for weapons, he looked for electronic surveylance equipment and he looked for anything out of place.  Except themselves he thought sourly to himself.

But that he couldn't do much about.  He kept going, wondering if team #2 was on their trail.

Subject: Tension

Alex Castlebrandt moved the shuttle into position.  Everything seemed to be going as planned.  What was there to go wrong anyway?  They were just moving up next to a dead hulk.  Nothing to worry about here.  Nothing unusual, just a simple and normal manuever.

Yet the pilot could feel the tnesion in the shuttle.  He knew he was tense.  That hulk out there was the  Demeter.  Whatever had left it a dead hulk had not been a simple accident.  Something had taken out the communication array.  But hadn't done much other damage.  Yet the ship appeared to be dead.  Or at least nearly dead.  Why?  And what would they find inside.   Whatever they found it was not likely to be simple.  And that had him both worried and extremely excited.

Once the shuttle was in position he prepared to move out with the rest.  He indicated the battery he had brought and asked those headed to the engine room if they wanted it there?

Finally ready, he took a few calming breaths.  He reminded himself to check out the ship from the outside as they moved over.  Was there any indication of what had damaged the ship?  Any indication of a forced entry or exit?  Anything that wasn't supposed to be there?  Or was supposed to be there, but wasn't?  'Stay calm and stay observant' he again reminded himself as he waited.
