Subject: Sweet merciful oddishes on saturday

Lt. Leiran is not going to be happy. Accessing from my mobile so I don't have the ship schematics handy, but I don't need them to know that she is going to be very unhappy. Maybe even, gasp, angry?

Just kidding, she's a cool headed kitty for the most part

Post will be incoming in a few hours once I'm out of class

Fayt acknowledges the instruction with a few beeps of confirmation. Direct translation would yield "memory access - map constructing". She first checks her databanks to check if a map was uploaded earlier, and if not, attempts to convert the image she snapshot earlier as they left the ship into a three dimensional hologram for them to quickly purview via her holoprojector.

Assuming they start moving before she can finish the compilation, however, Fayt will closely move with them, using her propulsion to keep up as needed while continually looking around and taking more pictures to aid in the 3 dimensional map construction running in the background.

Topic: A Star Trek Question
Subject: Going to have to agree

As an interplanetary organization, Starfleet is bound to have encountered a vast variety of cultures and religions. Take earth for instance. It's only one planet and there is however many cultures and belief systems. Now multiply that by x where x is some arbitrary value between 1 and infinity, because the setting has an infinite universe setup.

Now, Starfleet promotes interplanetary harmony among its members. Consequently, that requires a commitment to understanding and equality. Therefore, upholding a strict enforcement to regulate a specific way of life among its officers is rather counter intuitive and grounds by which to provoke disharmony. By contradiction, this can not be the case.

To conclude, I think that the absence of belief systems on the ships in the actual show are more due to producer choices than as a result of continuity. Wouldn't be out of place for there to be some regulations that cause some belief systems to be disallowed while on duty, but this would be due to practicality, not an enforcement.

The actual quote may just be 'wikipedia magic' misinterpreting or misquoting. Or the producer providing it by some choice based on external factors, not necessarily continuity.

And Bob is awesome. QED.

From the first one how Mac is

Mac and Leiran are almost opposites in that sense. Mac's officers bet on who he's going to whack first, Leiran's officers are trying to figure out why she never gets angry. And think she's odd.

But if you know me, you know all my characters are odd. It's just a Reralae-quirk

You're not wearing a red shirt, you'll be fine.

Maybe get incapacitated by sickness for a bit as a result of anti-darkium radiation, but never anything lethal.

Red shirts on the other hand... they have a tendency to not have a long life expectancy. Speaking of which, I should probably re-order my NPC science helpers with regards to rank... I want to keep one of them in particular!

I thought that one was funny. (also possibly reference to plants vs zombies, I swear I hear 'grains' in that) Granted, I giggle at most of them, and the rest I tilt my head towards because I didn't understand them.

Somehow I get the impression that in this sort of game, accidentally summoning an eldritch horror is kind of unexpected-but-not-out-of-the-question.

I mean, look at Grugg. He looks like he could be summoning something. Or is it him trying to summon food again?

I've got basics for Shield Wolf and Chessicfayth's characters... but still would prefer if there was a couple more people involved.

As both of your characters are residents and both are interested in gaming, there's a pretty good likelihood you'll both at least know of each other prior to the start of the game. I'll let you both decide on whether that's the case or not as we get closer to actually starting.

My apoligies for the late update here, it's been midterms week for me.

Subject: Curiouser and Curiouser, there must be a pattern

The lineup was, well, much longer than Artie had anticipated. He actually didn't expect there to be a lineup. If the whole sequence ran in even a limited parallel, then it'd be so much more efficient than just this mere ludicrous sequential queue that was in place. But, he was not the designer.

At this point, Artie was convinced that the Computer was not even the designer. It was probably modelled after a blueprint that was made by a person. Probably a communist, given that this was clearly sabotage. That was the only explanation for this inefficiency. He knew that the Computer would hate this inefficiency if the Computer was capable of such a thing. Naturally, being the better, the probability that the Computer was capable of such a thing was very slim. Still, it made Artie's blood boil.

Or was that just from the heat of so many clones in the same room at once?

In the end, it was irrelevant. This was inefficient. They were on a mission, and logically, a mission demanded efficiency. The mission was also supposed to be secret. Therefore, the use of the authority of being on a mission would be counterproductive to the end result and fail a prerequisite, thereby failing the mission altogether. There was only one alternative. Apoptosis.

Artie carefully watched, while waiting in line patiently. There was two things he was trying to see. The first thing was if he could get any indication of what happened for each person at the end of the lineup. The second thing was trying to see what it was that the automated lasers above found interesting about various people.

Subject: Not really a requirement

If I happen to find a vocabulator some place (maybe mech-anibalize a wayward droid?) then I can install it and then converse in basic. But as far as droid understanding goes, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say basic meanings/emotions can be easily conveyed, if R2 in the movies was any indication. If it comes down to briefings/planning, I'm sure I can manipulate what Fayt's holographic projector's output is to convey things like suggestions.

I don't see any tech-people in the group so don't think the characters would go out of their way to talk to a droid anyhow

That being said, do let me know if I should refrain from or inversely expand more on Fayt's vocalizations. In my experience, when playing a droid, the beeps are half the fun.

Fayt had kept mostly to herself during the flight.

Granted, she was a droid. It was generally expected of her to keep to herself. She didn't have an issue with that. She was okay with many things. Well, as long as no one brought up memory wipes. Then she'd be high tailing it out of there before the next cycle. As it was however, no one did, and she was actually excited. This was a very important mission. And she was a droid, but she still got to go. If Fayt had a specific Maker, she'd thank them from the tips of her semiconductors for being able to experience this.

However, the immediate blaster fire that the group and shuttle was exposed to did dampen her circuits a bit, metaphorically. That would be a problem. If they were organic shooters then they probably wouldn't aim specifically at her if she made a move, and that was comforting. But, on the other hand, if it was a motion sensor controlled turret then it'd still shoot at her if she moved. Although, if that was the case, she could try to hack it and prove her worth. As it was though, she'd just have to scout and keep her dome low and find out.

When she got to the doorway, she quickly snapped a shot of the landscape for her memory banks. As it was, the trenches gave the best cover, and so that would be where she was headed. Unless the closest trench was actually a deep ravine, then that could be troublesome.

These would be a lot of thoughts to go through a person's head, but Fayt was not a person, and there were benefits to having a computerized mind.

Panels on either side of her 'legs' slid open, and from them extended miniature propulsion engines. With a few beeps, easily identifiable as a 'make room!', she hit the ignition and took flight. Keeping low to the ground, she hovered over towards the trench. If she can make the movement, it's unoccupied, and it isn't that deep, she'll drop in and land. If it's a full fledged ravine however, she'll give a sharp whistle to warn about it and back track as far as she can go to try to get cover.

I think I like that setup for Fayt. The main thing that bugged me was that I'd be potentially getting 5000 credits for *bonus* subsystems and upgrades and such. I mean, there would doubtlessly be benefit to getting armour plating and a shield generator, but at the same time, it just felt kind of exploitive in a way.

Having just the class change from non-heroic to heroic makes a lot of sense to me though. Essentially makes the droid more on the same level as any of the other characters, without being held back by inconveniently inferior levels that I'm essentially penalized exp for.

Not to mention, 23 HP instead of 7. Means I'm not going to have to be totally scared of stray blaster fire

In short, I like this setup, and I think you pre-emptively posted what I was planning to do myself, Ayrn

I don't have that book, and as far as I know, the Empire was never one for ordering custom stock unless it was for high tier commanders, so doesn't make all that much sense for Fayt to have anything but a standard model as provided in the core book. That's my intuition on it anyhow. Saadar has final say.

Eol edition. 'cept I'm pretty sure those aren't snakes. Someone took a hammer to all the ladders too. No shortcuts in this thing.

I'm also pretty sure that those ladders were glass just to be easy to break. Oh wait, that answers whose hammer this is... Pi loves breaking glass for her collection.

Worst case scenario, we steal her blueprints and make glass fireball cannons out of these here shards and use that to break out of the establishment that wasn't courteous enough to just ask for a resume. If they had just asked nicely, I'm sure Annie won't be so peeved off

Artie stood firm on top of the hoverbot. He was not moving. Granted, it is difficult to move when one's hand is locked in an iron grip. Ascertaining that momentum has indeed halted, he eased his grip, using his free hand to unlock his white knuckles with come coersion. With that done, he looked around. Body count == two? No, further analysis dictates the count to only be one.

There wasn't much to do at the moment. The group's exact coordinates had to be maintained in order to ensure optimal efficiency for the clone replacement.

However, there was one sure thing that needed to be done. "Temporary objective: reboard Brighte." Artie noted aloud.

With that, he began to scan with his vision for something to help Brighte get back on board (assuming that it isn't an immediately straightforward matter).

Artie smiled.

This was his game now. He could already see the space alien invaders piloting asteroids lining up in front of them. He could visualize cannons on either side of their hoverbot. He would do it this time. He would beat that damn high score.

This was all, of course, completely stupid. No, he was not visualizing such things. He didn't even think aliens were real. That was illogical.

Still, he was smiling. Happiness was mandatory after all. Everyone was part of the team, and they were all serving their ultimate protector, benefactor, and guardian, Friend Computer. Or, at least, that's what the surface appearance was. How could one be certain?

With an iron grip on the railing, he stood, unmoving, as the hoverbot continued forward.

"Reminder: expression of gratitude is advisable. Transport: efficient, logical, and was provided for us. Steam: caution, interfacing affinity is top priority. Casualties are inefficient." He looked back momentarily at Ammpe and Brighte, before looking forward again, feet steady on the hoverbot, and his grip firm.

He was probably the least concerned about the hoverbot's safety or lack of it. He looked down at the bot. What a fine craft she was. He would love to take a closer look but he was uncertain on the variable t that measured the time since she was last looked at, and whether that would allow him to schedule maintenance. Or Jackie for that matter. They are both extremely fine models that performed admirably.
