I've been keeping track myself as well... well, kind of hard to mess up when your character has only shot once...

I'd rather that we keep track of our own ammo... it makes it a bit more realistic, since then there is the worry of running out of ammo, and I'm used to keeping track of arrows as well on my D&D characters anyway

Topic: What does it mean to be Human
Subject: ...

It is a paradox... I agree with Admiral; although there are things of which we are 'certain', in the end, they're only things which we are more certain about than others. For instance, consider the emotions one; if we try to be 'certain' that only humans can experience emotions, how can we be truly certain if we are unable to share communication with animals? In the end, the same argument you use to show it is 'certain' can be reversed to show it isn't. Lacking an omniscient awareness, it is impossible to know for sure.

That being said, I do have some suggestions as to what you may be able to use.

The ability to perceive things in an abstract form. Given a void, we try to define pattens out of what we see. This kind of brings me to my next one.

The need to define things. The fact that philosophy exists in itself is a key point. In particular, the need to define what makes oneself, or the need for self-awareness.

Two suggestions... and therefore my two cents...

Lightsabers can cut through vibro-weapons right?

If so... that probably means I'm out of luck for duels

I think my amendments the the 'no AoO' still work for duels though, since in duels neither is truly guarding against passage (that AoO doesn't exist then), and if they want to counter trips and such, they have to be guarding against those...

Without those circumstances, it's no AoO

Reconfiguring energy relays to the shield circuit to restore resistance.

Kate hardly had to think about it; it was just about instinct for her. Still, there was one thing that was nagging at her mind...

"You insolent ruffians! I'm billing you for the metal polish I'll have to use for this!" Kate screeches at the Mandalorians, despite the fact that there was only a very small likelihood that they would listen.

The gold-like plate in question, reminiscent of some foreign and archaic armour style on her torso, was scorched by the heat from the laser burst, leaving a dark mark upon the otherwise shiny surface. Her shield generator had prevented most of the impact from going through, but the heat from the burst was still enough to cause that mark. Still, that it HAD gone through had caused her shield generator to fall in resiliency. She would need to get that back up...

Looking across at Awvoor, Kate calls, "I'm coming too!"

Heading off after him, Kate re-draws her second vibroblade, while background processes attempt to restore her shield.

(moving after Awvoor, drawing vibroblade in the process, and I'm doing the 1 swift action/round to restore the shield, in order to keep up with Awvoor)

Subject: Oh noes!

I lost 1 hp?!

...

Well, not as bad as it could be ^^

Silly hp-exaggeration aside, I'm going to suggest an amendment to the 'no AoO'; as it is, it's kind of absolute, and doesn't quite make sense in some circumstances

-if the character is actively guarding a passage, and an enemy rushes past them, that should still provoke AoO as normal; it's just if the character isn't really paying attention to the passage (say, concentrating on an opponent in melee, or hacking some computer off to the side) and one runs past, then I could see there not being one

-I think the 'battle move' AoO's (incurred from attempts to trip, disarm, etc) should only occur if the attacked individual is using total defence, or attacking defensively... It doesn't quite make sense with the AoO's for them in normal combat, at least to me, because if the opponent suddenly bashes say the vibroaxe in the character's hands with the attempt to knock it out of them, I don't really see how you can react unless you're specifically watching for tricks.

With that, I think it should work fine ^^

That being said... I just had an interesting image in my mind of Kate fighting two battle droids, and a third runs by her, only to be clothelined by a vibroblade held by one of her arms not being used to fight the two battle droids.

A mighty old live oak tree grows from the tiny seeds of an acorn, usually over a period of decades. Once fully grown, it's nearly impossible to uproot, even moreso without destroying the bed of dirt in which its planted. Burning it wouldn't work either, as you'll scorch the earth around it as well.

Perhaps CC Corp is dealing with a hidden, stubborn old tree in their system.

Noting the potential value in all of the things that are easily grabbed off of the felled enemy units, Kate quickly undoes her cloak, her six arms now completely visible to the others, and she stacks whatever she can on it. Then, she folds it up, and slings it over her shoulder, held by her tertiary left hand.

"Time to move." Kate murmurs to herself, running down the corridor after the others.

At the blast door, Kate expectantly looks over toward Arruna'dira. She needn't have bothered; the Twi'lek already moved with a clear indication of what she was doing.

"Well, I can't just let you handle it alone now, can I?" Kate rhetorically asks, moving forward as well and sheathing one of her vibroblades as she does so (specifically in her primary left hand).

(Basically using Aid Another... so +2 to Arruna'dira's check I think)

As I'll put in my post, Kate will have taken off her cloak (so all six of her arms are visible now), stacked whatever else could be easily taken, then folded it up and slung it over her shoulder, held by her tertiary left hand.

I don't see an entry for a 'vibrosword'; I just use it to differentiate between my vibroblades and vibrodaggers... they're a bit easy to mix up I think...

Kate smiles smugly as the droid falls before her. Scrap metal compared to her; she was well made, after all. However, a blaster shot whizzes by her, bringing her back to reality. Her head turns sharply, taking in her new target.

"Oh? You're next are you?" Kate asks, advancing toward the soldier, "You're worse than that droid."

She quickly brings her vibroswords to bear, bringing them down upon the soldier.

(Moving to the soldier that attacked her, if possible. If not, moving to the closest one. Either a full attack with both vibroswords, if I can, but I doubt it, or a single attack with one vibrosword)

Probably just a typo... but Kate's using two vibroswords (I think they're just called vibroblades in the book, but it's too easy to mix them up...) right now... not her two vibrodaggers

Fear and respect. Those were the two things used, intentionally or not, by any person in authority. Still, Ocyari did not want to assume authority in this group. That could endanger her own mission, and so she should be more discreet. Still, the way Tamuril acted was too much, and so Ocyari acted in turn. Her father had warned her that she had gotten a dangerous temper... well, she could work on that later.

Ocyari stayed back, watching the others as they gave their own first impressions to the man by the well. She was curious about how they would choose to come across, so she kept her ears open, even as she appeared to be intrigued by something else, her eyes scanning the view of the ocean from there.

So far so good... or so it seemed. However, the man proved himself to be of more interest than how the others came across. Now, she just needed an excuse to join the group...

“Ocyari, please come and join us.”

Ocyari smiled inwardly; she needn't have worried. Turning toward Isilmiri, Ocyari nods, and moves over to join them. Movement catches her eye, that of Tamuril. Ocyari gives her no heed, after all, it made sense she was avoiding her, but in the end, she had only herself to blame; if Ocyari hadn't been the one to slap her, she wouldn't be surprised if one of the other villagers decided to do so themselves.

Deeming it appropriate, Ocyari curtsies to the man after reaching the well, but decides against speaking for the moment; with the multitude of things that Isilmiri had spoken, he already had more than enough to take in, and Ocyari didn't truly have anything to add anyway.

Kate sniffs, unsatisfied with the combat droid before her. Indeed, it appeared as worthless as she had accused it of being.

"Stop trying to hit me and hit me!" Kate catcalls, "Or are you only good for the scrap heap?"

Kate's primary left hand closes around the hilt of her second vibroblade, and she draws it smoothly from its sheath, but despite the appearance that she'd attack with that blade, she doesn't. Instead, she takes the blade in her primary right hand and swings it around, attacking the droid again.

(Move - drawing her second vibroblade, standard - attacking the same droid again)

Don't forget that for Kate, the vibro-weapons are Devastating Attacks for her, which means the enemy's damage threshold is 5 points lower. I'm sure you already accounted for that, but just making sure

On another note... I realized I have Kate's damage threshold wrong on the character sheet; it should be the same as her fort defence (24)

Kate smirks as the droid is hit by not only her bolt, but its own deflected bolt as well.

"Worthless consumer models!" Kate accuses, her primary right hand closing over the hilt of her vibroblade as she draws it in one swift stroke, and her stance noticeably shifts.

From her new stance, she steps forward and breaks into a run, every movement calculated to aid her momentum and provide the most force to her blade. All the better to aid her in her attempt to run the combat droid through with her vibroblade.

(Move action - drawing vibroblade, standard action - charging the same combat droid as she targeted before. As to naming her hands, I think I've decided how I'm going to do so:
-her 'primary' hands will consist of the ones holding her second holoprojector (right) and computer interface probe (left)
-her 'secondary' hands will consist of the ones with the vibrodaggers inside of them
-her 'tertiary' hands will consist of the blaster ones
Just to make it a bit more consistent with my naming of her hands )

Renee watched carefully as the situation disintegrated. Why was it that ill fortune always followed her around? She shakes her head, sighing, at the same time as drawing her rapier. True, in a firefight, it's not the best of weapons, but it is still the weapon she is best with.

Yet, she hesitates. Even now it wouldn't do well to rush in blind, so she opens her mind, trying to see things before they happen... just enough to give her an edge in the combat.

(Drawing rapier, and using Mindtime again, hopefully with better results, for the combat bonus )

Yet, even as Kusardo goes for the killing blow, the game screen suddenly freezes, and static breaks across both it and his speakers. Then both the sound and screen fades, and across his screen the words in red appear:

SYSTEM ERROR

~~~
It didn't only happen to Kusardo either; abruptly, everyone in 'The World' disconnected, and for no apparent reason. Not long afterwards, an email is sent out to all the members of 'The World'.
Author: CC Corporation
Subject: System Update
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the system failure, however, we expect for 'The World' to be running again by tomorrow. During the maintenance, 'The World' will be updated to R:3.24.
The system failure was due to an internal server error, which will be amended in the update.
We thank you for your patronage of 'The World'
Despite the game itself being down, the Board and other things of course are still active.
"Speaking of the fire..." Kate mutters, as her stance shifts.
To the casual observer, she'd appear to be partly reclining, or perhaps even surrendering, setting her hands behind her head. Perhaps she's even reaching for the two vibroblades sheathed behind her. However, to the acute observer, they'd see that her feet are positioned to brace herself with firing a gun or charging into melee combat, and if they were noting the position of her shoulders, they'd seem to be misplaced further back.
Then, from under her robe, a third and fourth arm appear. She holds out her tertiary left hand, pointing its palm at the incoming combat droid. The palm plate seems to unfold, shifting to reveal something inside of it, something that looks suspiciously like a blaster nozzle.
"Let's put the fire out, shall we?" Kate asks rhetorically, before firing a blast from her hand-gun.
(Alrighty... Drawing one of her blasters - move action, followed by shooting at the combat droid with lower initiative than her - standard action)
"Tamuril!" Ocyari calls, before immediately slapping her, surprisingly hard.
"This is not helping." Ocyari growls, perhaps a bit strange for the seemingly calm mannered woman, "If you're so keen to make unnecessary provocations, then throw away your ideas to help, because at this rate, you're making things worse. Making comments about a person's family, especially in a public locale, crosses the line, and just about everyone will react with hostility toward that. Don't forget, what they did was for the best, at least in their minds if not yours; it is simpler and easier to prepare for a periodic coming, than to resist and risk bloodshed, especially in a small town, where everyone is connected to each other. I suppose you were trying to provoke them... well, congratulations, it worked, but against us. Do you get it, or do you want me to pound it into your thick skull?"
"What would I advise?" Ocyari asks, "I'm afraid that's my own personal opinion; you need to make your own choices."
"Both options have problems with them. We leave, and we will probably feel guilt with regards to what we could have, but didn't do. We help, and we will be met with resistance, and we do not fully know if we would succeed." Ocyari continues.
Ocyari's emerald eyes regard Tamuril carefully, "We cannot rely on the townspeople to fight. Merely having items that can be used as weapons is one thing, and knowing how to fight with them is another. We can hope that in the case of combat, they will help, but we cannot plan on it. Furthermore, there is no time to train them to defend themselves, and calling on them to fight would put them directly at risk, something I somehow doubt they'd do easily. I suggest you drop your idea. We likely won't be able to call on them for aid in combat, however, the thing we need is information. That is where they can aid us, if we give them reason to."
"However, there is a third option..." Ocyari muses, "If we take up vantage points in the night, we may be able to view the creatures as they come to the town, and be able to observe them, see how they work, their strengths, and their weaknesses. However, and this will probably require considerable restraint on your parts, we WON'T act. Not on this night. That way we will be prepared for the next time, and will be able to resolve matters then. Alternatively, we may just find that it is beyond our skill to interfere, and will have the option at that point of pulling out."
Kate's silvery hand caresses her forehead in thought, while her other hand is at her elbow. Her holographic face appears to have an expression of concentration, although it could be taken for discomfort. A dark brown robe, not too different from the style of a Jedi's robes, conceals most of her body, and her arms, and its hood is up, although the light-blue of the hologram is made easier to see because of the hood's shadow.
"Ugh, all the people screaming around here are overloading my audio sensors," Kate complains, her voice with full tone, before she changes her tone to mock that of a PA call, "In the case of fire, there's no need to panic unless the fire's about to drop on you."
Kate shakes her head, returning to her normal tone, "Oh well, where's one of those interface ports when you want to use one?" She looks around, but immediately her eyes are caught by the light glinting off of the lightsaber of the Jedi in front of her, "Oh, hello. Who might you be?"
(I sort of based Kate's appearance on the Inevitable creatures from D&D, so you can get an idea of what her body looks like that way, although it's hidden by her robe right now)
