Subject: Well, as far as group names go

There's two ways to do it. One consists of two parts, where the one part is a synonym to 'group' or 'alliance', and the other part is a unifying factor.

'The Alliance of Unlikely Heroes' for instance...

The other type of group name consists of a single phrase of about two words that is both a sort of unifying factor and works as a name.

For example, 'The Moonlit Key'

Of course, making a name is difficult when we don't know all the characters, much less have a unifying factor for them all

Are there going to be any 'cameos' by mainstream characters?

Joking aside, I assume this isn't an option since it normally isn't, but what are your thoughts regarding 'turning bad/good'?

I don't see Trisha turning bad anytime soon, but I thought I might as well ask since it's one of the things that's good to know.

"Wait a moment, Erihsehc." Sen calls, "You should let the horse get used to you first."

Sen reaches her hand forward, stroking her horse gently, as well as letting the horse smell her hand.

"If they know you, then they won't be quite so apprehensive about you, since you will no longer be a stranger to them." Sen explains.

Carefully, Sen mounts upon her horse. It is true that she didn't know much about riding, as she usually flew. However, being a druid as well, she also holds a connection to nature, and through it she can trust her horse to carry her, even if she doesn't know how to do much more than general riding.

"Oh," Sen adds, "Another thing that I should tell you is that you should refer to me by a different name. It might not be needed, but it is better to be safe. The name I usually use with this form is Lia Nailo."

Shianna stands by quietly, watching the others converse. One should see all sides of the situation before coming to a conclusion, and so Shianna observes. At first glance, Shianna feels that Isaac, with his careful considerations, has the best view. Aryan, seemingly rash as ever, causes Shianna to nearly lash out vocally. Thankfully, Shianna keeps her resolve and stays silent, but it still grates on her nerves how this person, studying magic with ritual and practise, seems to hold little patience. Perhaps it is simply that all her patience is spent learning her magic, or perhaps it is because of something else. In any event, Shianna still can't help but think Where's your guarantee that we won't be unsafe and uncomfortable in the town then? You assume so much...

Soon after her thought, a bit of movement catches Shianna's eye. Shianna smiles at Syana's own, nonverbal, suggestion. It made a lot of sense, perhaps it wouldn't be fast enough for the rash Aryan, but it would serve well to provide a warning. Yet, it too held its own difficulty. Shianna casts a quick glance to Meera, tilting her head in question, before motioning toward Syana. Softly, Meera whines, and shakes her head.

"It's a good idea, Syana." Shianna finally says, "But if Issac were to scout, the mist would probably prove to be a fair hindrance; it is more dense down in the valley. That means that he'd have to get close enough to the town to see, which in turn would be close enough for others to see him, and whether that would be beneficial or harmful is still in question. Perhaps it'd be better if Meera and I went; we could probably stay hidden more easily, and she'd be able to lend her nose in 'seeing' if the town is inhabited by people or corpses."

Subject: Regarding setting

Young adult-adult is fine for me, but regarding lethality, I would prefer it if the game is more realistic, with humans just gaining a few extra powers. Unless they are directly influential on their resiliency, then they should still die given lethal conditions; I prefer there to still be a sense of danger, because if there isn't much of one, then it often just turns into a power play, which is not usually something I like.

It didn't seem like Oscar and Julianne were actually in trouble, since if that was the case they'd already be dead. In any case, if they were all detained, that would be inefficient, and that's treason. So, with a warm smile on her face, and keeping to herself, Jen silently boards the lift.

Subject: If you wish...

I could try to resurrect the character I made in a fanfictual X-Men idea I had thought up however-many years ago. The setting is perfect for her, since in the fanfiction concept she is enrolled in Xavier's school

I'm not using her name right now, but this isn't because I'm trying to be mysterious; it's because it's been so long I've forgotten the name I gave her, if I gave her one...

On another note, if I do use her, I don't want anyone saying I'm just copying one (or fusing two, or whatever) of the mainstream characters' ability, because it IS different enough to not be the same, and in any case she is not that character

Oh, here's another thought... since it seems most people do not have the reference material, would it be easier to make it more of a free-form style of game?

Subject: You know...

I've never truly had a favourite superhero... at least not one that I recall. The thing that I end up doing quite a bit whenever I see a comic or cartoon or anime is my weird imagination immediately comes up with my own hypothetical character to add into that world. Either that or alter one of the more minor characters to my own design.

That being said, if I had to pick, I'd probably pick Storm. Main reason: lightning and other electrical powers are among my favourite of the ones available, and she can fly after a fashion, which is another thing I like.

As for a villain, I suppose my favourite would be Mystique. Her ability isn't offensive, but it's one that is interesting to me. Not to mention she is very acrobatic, which I also like.

Linnix's breath comes in short bursts, and she can feel the fatigue in her arms, no, her entire body. Dully, Linnix vaguely realizes that she is nearing her limit, but there is little she can do about it now. All that can be done is to press on; stopping now would not do any good, and would only aid in someone's demise. I won't let that happen. Linnix resolves. Yet, even as she thinks it, out of the corner of her eye she sees Xaris fall to the ground. No. You are not dead. I will not believe it! Linnix stubbornly thinks, But for you to survive, we need to do something!

"Talus! We need to bring down that orc!" Linnix calls over the din of the ongoing battle.

Linnix swivels on her heel, raising her bow as she turns. The arrow is drawn in a blur, with bowstring held just beyond the right edge of her lip. Without another word, she fires at Bolrikar. Alone, her arrow might not be able to fell the creature, but at least it would help.

Busier - RL strikes again, and the person isn't as active as they normally are
On Hiatus - They are so busy that they probably don't have any opportunity to post in the near-future
Inactive - For those people that 'disappear'...

I think it'd be a good thing to have as well, because not everyone checks the coming/going threads, and it can be simply a reminder in the case where the person uses both

As for where the status would appear, obviously it would on their profile page, but it'd probably be a good idea to also put it on the side of the post where their mini-profile is, like under where it says the post count.

It's not far, so getting to the new home isn't a problem, but I'm not sure how quickly internet will be set up, but hopefully it won't take longer than a week, although I really have no idea...

I'll be a little busy with packing and unpacking anyway in all likelihood, so my posting won't be as frequent as it has been for a while.

That said, I should be back here and there, if for brief periods, and I think most of the games I'm in can survive without me for a week or so

Subject: Repurcussions

The Linsemptus Scout in front of Manalagna raises its right arm, and a sickening sound is heard, as though the plasmoid bone were breaking and reforming, as it morphs into a conical shape with jagged ridges around it. Sora's eyes widen, and he slashes at the Scout, but it ducks underneath the hasty blow, the drill-like appendage whirling rapidly. The Scout lunges forward, its arm impossibly stretching forward to impale Manalagna with its drill, the point breaking through the other side of Manalagna's body while the rest of it tears his heart to pieces. The Scout tears the cone from Manalagna's body, and he slumps to the ground, dead. (Failed the fortitude save)

Willow, who had resolved herself to try to push Manalagna out of the way, instead finds herself running at the Linsemptus Scout that had felled Manalagna. Taking a change in plan, she runs her sword through the torso of the Linsemptus Scout (-11hp Linsemptus Scout). The Scout gives a shrill as it dissipates into nothingness.

Righteous fury burns in the eyes of Armand, and turning to the one remaining enemy, Armand unleashes the spell. Pure white flames erupt around the remaining Scout, and it screeches as it is totally obliterated by the pure holy might. (-27 hp Linsemptus Scout, felled)

Rushing to Deunan's fallen body, Mitsuru reaches into her the pouch at her belt, and pulls out a clear, glittering diamond, far purer than anyone of the group has seen, with a perfect cut.

"Child of light, return from death's domain. Hear my voice, and rise again." Mitsuru intones, the diamond disappearing into an orb of light that infuses with Deunan's body, bathing it with a warm glow.

Repeating the process, Mitsuru does the same for Manalagna, using a similar diamond in order to do so. In the meantime, Xira sets her Death Scythe away, and casts a curative spell upon herself, the faint glow of the spell seemingly very peculiar, coming from the dark priestess.

Yet, as Mitsuru does the second raising, there is a visual distortion above the campfire, with a swirling of colour and light. It fades as quickly as it came, leaving the sylph woman hovering in the air.

"I came back as quickly as I could; I heard a faint scream." She says.

Mitsuru sharply looks over at the sylph, "How far away were you?"

"I was at the base of Mt. Venerro when I heard it." the sylph replies.

"We'd better move." Mitsuru quickly assesses, "If that soldier's scream travelled that far, we can assume that it has given away our position. This wasn't an assault squad; it was a patrol. We have two options: we can try to maintain our distance from Venerro, simply by traveling around the mountain, or we can retreat to Wanqir, re-equip, and set back out. I suggest retreating, for fairly evident reasons."

[Status so far]
Xira - Green
Yin - Green
Mist - Green
Farah - Green
Sora - Green
Dev - Green
Mitsuru - Green
Akihiko - Green
Willow - 68/72
Dusk - 52/57
Manalagna - 9/71
Armand - 72/72

Topic: Some Secrets are Best Left Buried...
Subject: Time to Heal

Shianna lets out a deep breath. This combat had been finished. Yes, finished; she would not say 'won', because there is still much left to be sought, in both ways of knowledge and recovery.

"Umm, let me see your wounds." Shianna says hesitantly, looking to the others.

With Syana, Shianna carefully feels the wound, noting how Syana winces as she does so, indicating the wound's sensitivity. It is quite possible that a bone could have been fractured by the blow, and if that is the case, there is only one thing that can quickly aid it.

Softly, Shianna murmurs in a half prayer, half chant.
With the falling of leaves and the felling of the tree,
Let the wheel of time restore things to be.
By the roots the flower can return to life,
So too may this body heal from its strife.

During the first two lines, Shianna's hands are held clasping each other, but at the third, she spreads her hands apart, as though they are a flower in bloom. At the centre between her hands, a faintly glowing light can be seen. At the final line, Shianna cups the glow in her hands, before reversing her hands and lightly pushing the glow into Syana's body. Shianna bites her lip, as she feels the pain flow from Syana and, through her, into nothingness.

Similarly, Shianna examines both Isaac and Volkmar's wounds, and, noting how the amount of time it would take for them to heal is beyond the time that is available, Shianna repeats her spell for the two of them.

((Cure light wounds to Syana, Isaac and Volkmar))

Afterwards, Shianna looks to the sky. Her eyes tell her what she already feels, with the fading of the warmth and light of the sun. Rest would have to come soon, but where would they rest? Shianna closes her eyes, and feels her intuition and listens to what her senses tell her.

((Making an assumption here, but if I'm wrong, just message me and I'll edit))

No animals, save for the slight panting of Meera nearby. She cannot hear any of the creatures of the wood. If they choose to flee, then that confirmed that the forest isn't safe, for that is the direction of where many of the abominations came from.

Shianna opens her eyes, and she seems to look toward Neri more than the others, "The forest doesn't feel safe, but I... don't trust that town either." Shianna murmurs, but then again, since when did she ever trust cities or towns?

"Where do you think we should go? Should we turn back?" Shianna asks.

Topic: Auguries of Destruction - The Clock Tower
Subject: Very well then...

Returning to the front of the car, the conductor closes the folder with a smooth motion, holding it under her arm. Reaching the front, she turns back to face everyone.

"No one can escape Time; it exists everywhere," she says calmly, holding up the folder with the front held toward everyone as though in symbolization, covering half of her face with its width, "Yet, nowhere." She adds, turning the folder sideways, but at that distance, one would expect the folder's edge to hit her face. Yet, nothing of the sort happens, and then realization strikes. The folder has disappeared; not even its edge can be seen as she lowers her hand to her side. "You can't plug your ears and cover your eyes, or can you?"

"And so it begins." She finishes, stepping backwards, her form fading into nothingness as though it were engulfed by a shadow that doesn't exist.

After a moment of slightly shocked silence, the man in the back resumes typing. Something then becomes notably odd. No one has disembarked from the train from any of the cars ahead or behind, and indeed, there are no people on the platform, administrative or otherwise. Ticket tills are empty, no sounds of people can be heard from the station itself, although echoes of the people waiting in the other train cars can be heard. Suddenly, the man stops typing. He grunts, his eyes distant and his forehead wrinkled in concentration.

"Everyone, move!" He yells, slamming his notepad closed.

Alas, it is already 10:54 PM

Bong

The chime of the clock tower is unnaturally loud, reverberating in the air itself and sending chills down everyone's spine with its unsettling pitch. The noise doesn't even seem to come from the clock tower, almost from all directions, threatening to distort everyone's sense of direction. Everyone is standing, except for the woman in the wheelchair, from both the shout and the bell toll, but before even two steps can be made, the bell strikes again.

Bong

Everyone braces for the third chime, but rather than the bell tolling, something else occurs as well. Right when the bell chimes a third time, an explosion rocks the train. The front car that houses the train's engine has completely been destroyed, and bits of flaming, metal, and glass debris can be seen through the windows flying from the centre of the explosion. An analytical mind would think that the train's engine just exploded, but the mind drenched in adrenaline doesn't think of the cause, quickly setting the body to run. Next, the train car behind the engine car explodes with the fourth chime, for seemingly no reason at all.

Yet, as luck, or perhaps fate, would have it, although the explosions have offset the train's position, and are causing it to start moving backwards along the track, the path to the platform is still clear from this car. It takes no thinking, for it is simply instinct, as everyone runs onto the platform. Just in time as well, for by the time everyone is on the platform, the clock tower chimes for the seventh time, causing the car they just ran out of to burst in a ball of fire. Shields are quickly woven by those who can, but the damage caused by the flying metal and glass shrapnel is incredible, despite being outside of the core blast.

Guinevere's shield stops most of the debris from hitting her directly, offsetting it by enough of a fraction of an angle to avoid her, but one fairly large piece of glass breaks through and cuts deeply into her right bicep. The woman in the wheelchair, who seemingly would be incapable of dodging any of the debris, is unharmed, with her shield strong enough to even avert a piece of chair that might have struck her in the head otherwise. Eve twists and twirls, and successfully manages to avoid the brunt of the flying shards, but a metal edge, probably off of either the chair or the window, strikes her in the calf, causing her to trip onto the floor. An appropriate time for it to happen, however, for it causes her to avoid several hardwood javelins from the floor of the car, making them pass overhead. The man with the laptop also seems to be clumsy, stumbling in his step, and causing his laptop to slide across the floor. Yet, as he dives to retrieve it, his initial stumble proves to be his salvation, for at that moment, a fairly intact and flaming chair rockets over him, as several glass shards pass below him. Bas simply allows his wolfish instincts to take over, allowing him to avoid a considerable amount, but he also gets hit a number of times by various pieces of objects. Alone, they aren't much, but altogether it causes a fair amount of pain across his body. The most unfortunate, however, is the man beside the woman in the wheelchair, for although her shield is strong, it can only protect one person. He is knocked down by almost a volley of various pieces of wood, glass and metal.

By the time the clock tower has stopped chiming, which is in ten chimes for those who counted, none of the train cars remain. The group of six people are left on the platform with various pieces of the train left upon it. Yet, despite the proximity of the blasts, the platform itself has not sustained considerable damage, and is not aflame from the smoldering debris. The first ordeal is over, but now there are many unanswered questions, namely, what is to be done now?

[Damage Sustained]
-Guinevere has lost 3 Essence and has taken 5 points of damage (the 3 Essence were used in a physical damage cushion of 15 points, which has been spent)
-Carrie (the NPC in the wheelchair) has lost 5 Essence and has taken no damage (same use for Essence as Guinevere, but for 25 points, of which 20 points has been used up)
-Kenneth has taken no damage (He got incredibly lucky...)
-Eve has taken 5 points of damage
-Bas has taken 10 points of damage
-Carrie's husband (NPC) has taken 20 points of damage
Main note: No one is in danger of dying
