Topic: This was hell Subject: ... are you real?
Cindi was about to answer that she didn't know the name of the other person she saw, but it seemed unnecessary, for at that moment, the missing person arrived.
Cindi listened to the man, the one referred to as Cathedral. To her, his words did not make any sense at all... or well, a considerable portion of them anyway... was he even real?
"Am I hallucinating?" Cindi asked, even as she continued to follow Cathedral and Herman anyway, "Am I crazy?"
That last question seemed to spark something within her... a memory? Nope. The moment she tried to concentrate on it, it was gone.
"Oh well, I'll do it anyway; it's not like I have anything else to try really." Cindi murmured to herself.
And so, she visualized a plain of grass, uncertain as to what Cathedral was trying to have happen. She wasn't sure if she should trust him, but if he was going to try to leave, she might as well stick around.

Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques Subject: Time to Fly
Out of the corner of her visual sensor receptors, Kate could see the Jedi falling back, taking up position to guard his charge. It was something that she herself would have done, had she still been a bodyguard, and still had a charge.
Well, now was not the time to consider such things. Kate's primary attributes focused on melee combat, so she was not the best at providing ranged support. Taking this into consideration, and noting the position of the Jedi, she decided it was time to go.
She held out her arms straight out on either side of her, arranging them to be evenly spread out. With a fair bit of mechanical whirring, the metal plates on her arms rearranged themselves, revealing the wires and intricate systems underneath as they connected the arms together with what vaguely resembled a take on the wings of a bat. Furthermore, ignition boosters folded out from her ankles and her back. She quickly blasted into the air, making her way to the transport ship.
(She'll land on top of the ship with her magnetic feet, shift back to walking form, and use one of the hatches on top of the ship to enter)

Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques Subject: Sheesh, you'd think I'd be needed to do more than open doors...
Kate dumped her gathered things onto Arruna-dira's speeder, before running towards the blast door in question in response to the Jedi's request. If she had to fly later on, she wouldn't be able to carry much with her. Still, even though she was going to help, she did not intend to be the last person there; she knew droids generally were seen as more expendable, and so knew better than to risk it.
Upon reaching the door, Kate paused for a moment, making sure she'd be ready to either help provide fire cover or run.
"Alright, I'm opening the door!" Kate called.
(Kate's going to sheath her vibroblade, and ready her other blaster-hand before opening the door. When the door opens, she'll provide cover as best she can with her shots initially... but if things get out of hand, she's probably going to run (or fly if there's enough time))

Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques Subject: Enemy number 1 or 2?
Kate paused for a moment, considering which enemy to go after. Sure she could go after the one bothering the wookie, but it was probably going to be felled without her assistance... That settled it then.
Taking a few paces around to get a clear shot, Kate fires at the enemy battle droid by Arruna'dira.
(I'm very sorry about it being short... and late *sweatdrop*... if I think of something to add, I'll edit it in)

Topic: Forgotten Realms: The Unsung Heroes Subject: Even if I can't see...
It was difficult for Linnix, to say the least. Even in the descent, she had to learn not to use her vision as her primary sense. Her vision was lacking, and so she had to look to her hearing and touch to make up for it. However, she still could use her sight, since the light provided by Dylan's spell did light her way.
Upon reaching the vacant room, something was gnawing at the back of Linnix's mind. Something seemed... off. Unfortunately, there was little else to do but to investigate; to hesitate would probably not be the wisest of actions. They had time, true enough, but in these circumstances, the only thing that could be done was to move forward.
Linnix saw Aelistae move forward, and her beckoning to Linnix. Linnix nodded to herself. Not that I'd let you go alone anyway. She added internally, as she almost mirrored Aelistae in following, staying low to the ground.

Topic: Forgotten Realms: The Unsung Heroes Subject: Alrighty, I'm here!
[slight backpost, sorry for being late!]
Linnix nodded grimly to herself. While it made sense that they would need light... there was also a problem with that...
"Sarnor lu' venorik, ke." She murmured, more to herself than to any of the others, before speaking louder, "It'll probably be more difficult, but we might have to try to avoid using light, or at least avoid letting others see it. Light will spread fairly easily down there, and will let us be spotted more easily."
She thought for a moment, before continuing, "Are any of us good at drawing maps? It might be handy to make one as we go, especially if the goblins have made their own additions to the mine, so that we don't get lost. I'm not sure how likely that is, but it'd probably be better not to risk it."
I don't want anyone to get lost... either physically or through an ambush. Linnix resolved. She walked over to Aelistae's side, looking down the entrance of the mine, and into the darkness.
"Usstan daewl Usstan gumash kyorl wun l'olath." Linnix said, her voice giving away a hint of irritation, "Usstan xun inbal folbol nindel orn'la ori'gato uns'aa, jhal Usstan xuat ssinssrin ulu kl'ae ol ditronw tarthe..."
[I wish I could see in the dark. I do have something that would let me, but I don't want to use it right away...]
It wasn't that Linnix wanted to keep the others out of her conversation, but it was more to make sure that she did know the language, and could be understood with it. After all, the only way one can keep a language memorized is if they keep using it.
[caught up now]
Linnix entered after Talus, walking alongside Dylan, her longbow held in front of her.
"Mind your sheath." She murmured to Dylan, "I know a couple of thieves that ended up in a pretty sorry state, simply because they gave themselves away by letting their dagger sheaths at their ankles hit the furniture they were sneaking by."
Linnix giggled. It wasn't quite true, but it was still good advice.

Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques Subject: Stay down!
Kate nodded grimly at the fallen enemy before her. As a bodyguard, she did have a priority to finish off her opponents, since even if they were on the brink of death they could survive, but she wasn't a bodyguard anymore, and there were things of higher priority on her list. Namely, incapacitating the other enemies still standing.
(I'm not quite sure where Kate is in relation to the other enemies, so she'll go for the nearest non-lightsaber using one, preferably moving closer before charging at them with her blade, but otherwise moving closer and shooting)

Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques Subject: Taste my blade!
Distance to closing... sufficient for attack.
Kate grins, and quickly draws her vibroblade, twirling it around in her right primary hand. She picks her steps carefully, moving forward before stopping next to Arruna-dira's speeder, careful to position her feet when coming down so that she's stable.
"Taste my blade!" Kate yells, as she attempts to slash the enemy on the speeder.
(move action - draw vibroblade, standard action - charge!)

Topic: The Day They Woke Up on the Wrong Side of Reality Subject: If I'm not in school, I don't want to hear lessons
In truth, Galen only paid vague attention to the geography lesson. Despite preferring to be prepared, he really didn't like school-related anything outside of school, and he was having troubles finding a good spot to sleep on, which took the priority in his mind. Not to mention, there were a good number of other things going through his mind as well, giving his eyes a distant cloudiness to them as he searched.
Finally, he decided on a just slightly uneven ground with a few tufts of grass sticking out of it. Uneven would probably be reminiscent of a spring mattress, at least vaguely, and so should work out well... although he wasn't too worried; if he didn't set his mind to wake up at a certain time, he could probably sleep through just about anything. He might get a few grass stains on his clothes, but given the new setting, they'd probably end up seeing worse before they were replaced.
That brought the question of what they'd be replaced with, or how they'd be replaced as well. Considering that the group didn't have any currency, that would prove difficult... although he did have some skill in crafts, that also required money, and so it went around full circle. Well, there was no point in worrying about it... there was nothing that could be done at the moment in any case, so he forcibly pushed the train of thought from his mind. It probably would've been easier if he had his mp3 player... oh well, there were things that weren't here, but there were also things that were that he didn't have before...
Slowly, he drifted off to sleep. He dreamt, but like most of his dreams, he wouldn't bother telling anyone about them.
Even slower, he stirred into that half-wakefulness that plagues the mind in the morning. He looked around, and silently cursed; he seemed to be up before most of the others. Just like when he was over at someone's house, his mind was far too active to be asleep for long. Still, that would prove to be a good thing this time... he knew he had something to do.
Quietly, he rose, and wandered over to the side of the camp. He reached into his pant pocked, and pulled out the wooden cards that were there, twenty-two in all. He carefully sat, cross legged, as he picked up and looked at one.
"0." He whispered... no, not even a whisper, simply the movements of both the vocal chords and his mouth without sound, "The freedom to dream."
The card, or a rather archaic version of one, depicts a man in a colourful jester-like costume, carrying in one hand a white rose and in the other a stick and bag for all his other possessions. The man teeters with one foot already over the edge of a large precipice, though his attention is focused upward at the heavens. At his side is his companion, a small grey dog who may or may not be currently attempting to warn the Fool of his epic faux pas. In the background, the sun is shining bright. At the bottom of the card, where the border thickens, there is a ‘0’, which is soon taken to be the number of the card, though it isn’t immediately apparent. The left and right borders combine to form the phrase, “Leaping into the unknown. / Again and again.”
He placed this card upon his right leg, as he picked up a second one.
"II." He mouthed, "The silent voice within one's heart."
On this card is the depiction of a woman covered from head to toe in white robes with a blue cloak, leaving only her face and hands exposed. On her breast is a large cross embroidered in a golden yellow on the robe. She sits on a stone chair, looking up from reading a scroll in her hand, the back of which is labelled ‘Torah’. In her raised left hand is a star of light. On either side of her are bronze columns decorated at the top and bottom with bands of black on one on the left, and white on the other. Behind her is a veil of overhanging willow leaves, which obscures any background there might be. Mimicking the roof-to-floor columns is the Roman numeral II at the bottom of the card, and the sides carry the phrase “Understanding the mysteries. / Dualistic Singularity.”
He placed this card upon his left leg, as he picked up a third one.
"IX." He mouthed, but instead of a definition, he mouthed a particular phrase that he associated with it: "It takes great courage to look at oneself honestly and forge one's own path."
This card shows an old man out wandering at night. He wears a plain and off white shirt and grey pants, and over his shoulders is a cloak that is dark blue on the outside and violet on the inside. His hood is up and covers most of his head but his face, which sports a short and well-trimmed white beard. In his hand he carries a staff on which a lantern has been hung and swings freely. In the dark night sky there is a ghostly image of a wolf, symbol of the pack that the Hermit is on leave from. This card is numbered at the bottom IX, and is bordered by the phrase, "Quietness and reflection. / Time grows apart."
He placed that card back upon the deck, and set them beside him.
Taking the two cards he had, the Fool in right and the Priestess in left, he closed his eyes, and meditated.
The Arcane uses absurd materials and rituals to make things happen.
The Divine uses power borrowed from others to make things happen.
What Galen did wasn't quite either of them, drawing on the power of his own will, emotions, and desires, and using that as his key to magic.
(Spells retrieved:
0 - Electric Jolt, Cure minor Wounds, Light, Detect Magic
1 - Lesser Orb of Electricity, Cure Light Wounds

Topic: Auguries of Destruction - The Linsemptus Subject: If people aren't going to respond, at least tell me so I know to update!
An uneasy silence filled the hall. With nearly no information on the enemy, as well as the loss of teammates, the situation seemed grim. No, grim would be a bit of an understatement; morale was low, and was there even a way to fight those monsters?
Then again, for one, morale was of little concern. Krixa did not respond to Willow, merely shrugging, and gazing back at her with dark, cold eyes.
Finally, after a few hours, the doors to the Council chamber opened, and from them came Mitsuru and Akihiko. They seemed a bit weary, as they stepped back toward the party, but it was likely simply due to fatigue, rather than impatience with the Council or from the low morale.
When the two reached the party, that was when Mitsuru spoke. "We certainly do have much more time than we anticipated. Do you recall that unseen boundary that the Linsempti could not cross? Upon consultation with the high wizards and the diviners, we've been able to verify that it is indeed a boundary; it is the furthest point where the world of the Linsempti has overlaid our own. Apparently, the Linsempti are unable to completely leave their own world, or simply choose not to, and so stay halfway in between the two. The boundary, of course, is expanding. However, its rate of expansion seems to be rather slow, estimated at perhaps only a couple feet per day."
"I'm afraid it doesn't mean we can rest easily." The Scout's voice can be heard from above, "The Linsempti will try to make the boundary expand faster, namely by creating more cracks within the world."
Mitsuru continues for the Scout, "Our current objective now will be to try to intercept the Linsempti that search for a weak point to strike. Their forms, if the diviners are right, are akin to oversized snakes, and their first target was seen as a small temple between Aqinarr and Venerro. It will take about three days to get there if we stay on our side of the border and cross only when we have no other option. Is everyone clear on this, and does anyone have anything they wish to contribute?"
(Once again, I'm very sorry for the late update... I hope this game is still alive...)

Topic: Star Wars: Dark Masques Subject: Left without a saber
She missed, but that wasn't what was grating Kate's circuitry... it was seeing the Jedi go and meet the Sith head on in melee combat!
If Kate had teeth, she would've gritted them, but instead she just merely shifted her holographic face to portray it. She wanted to go and meet the Sith as well, if not to help then to show that she was probably as capable in such a combat as the Jedi... but then again, her vibroblades probably wouldn't amount to much against a lightsaber blade.
Oh well, her help was needed elsewhere. Kate quickly rushes toward Arruna'dira's speeder, letting another shot fly from her hand as she gets nearer to her attackers.
(Move action: going toward the speeder, to get closer to the enemy underlings, and standard action of firing... good news, I think my cold's just about over )

"Still using black and red? I would've thought the style dead by now." Kate catcalls across the hangar.
Seeing the others go to get the ships ready, Kate decides to move forward to buy them time. As she does so, she brings out her left blaster-hand, and takes a shot at one of the droids.
(um... not quite sure where she moved... anywhere within 1 move action where she has partial cover please... and which droid... I don't think it really matters right now, so either one... and sorry for coming in a bit late... I think I'm a bit sick right now... )

Topic: This was hell Subject: Alright? I dare to say so...
Cindi staggered to her feet, only to find herself helped by unseen hands. She nearly winced and recoiled from the unexpected touch. Nearly lashed out with the metal flute in hand... but she didn't. Where did she get to be so aggressive?
Carefully, she regarded the man in front of her, her green eyes piercing, yet distant, as she thought to herself.
"I'm Cindi." She said, her voice holding a forced calm about it, "I would say I'm alright, but I can't be sure... as for where... I have no idea..."
As well, she voiced the question in her mind aloud, "Are you real? Is this real?"
Yet, even as she asked aloud, she realized how irrelevant it was; it didn't matter what was real or not right now, because anything she could perceive could very well still hurt her. She backed away from the man slightly, unconsciously, yet movement caught her eye, and she turned to look. Her eyes widened as she saw the six-legged nothingness walk up to a stack of bodies nearby, corpse in disembodied mouth. At that point, her intuition screamed at her to get away from there.
She ran. Going down the road, or whatever it was, opposite in the direction the anti-spider, as she named in her mind, went. However, as she weaved around a stairway, she nearly ran into another man. Instead, she skidded to a stop, using the railing of the stairwell to help, and froze, fear visible under attempts to keep her face passive.
"Who are you?" She asked, her voice still holding a forced calm about it.

"We might not have to go all the way there," Kate notes, "If I can interface with the ship's computer, I might be able to open one of the doors that way. If everyone could help look for one, that'd be the good..."
Kate begins searching along one side of the hall, looking for an interface port...
"Oh, nevermind; I already found it." Kate calls, plugging into the outlet somewhat hidden by a decorative plant with her left hand's port.
Now to open the door... come on computer, be nice to me...
(Alrighty, trying to open the non-cardkey blast door, since that one seems to be the most direct route to their destination...
Ohyeah, and I'll try taking 10 first... if that doesn't work then I'll have to get rolls...)

Topic: This was hell Subject: Remember? Remember what?
She was dead. Lying on an angled plane, on her front, motionless... a woman, wearing the tattered remnants of some archaic dress, with short, bright red hair. Her face was angular, perhaps even foxlike... if one remembered what a fox was... No, not dead... she moved her fingers, her right hand feeling against something rough, yet feeling something slick, something sticky, something not altogether pleasant. Although, perhaps even more unpleasant, she knew what that something was...
Blood.
She felt weak, but since when did she trust her senses? Not since the darkness at least. Tentatively, she allowed her awareness to blossom, despite whatever sense her mind had, telling her not to. Then she realized, and half remembered... she still had it in her left hand... wait... had what?
Why not just see? She opened her eyes, but immediately closed them, stung by the peculiar sight, if one could call it that. For years, or maybe minutes, she just lay there, opening and closing her eyes, waiting for them to stop hurting.
Then she finally became aware of the rest of her senses. She felt the tattered dress she wore, blood red in colour, or was it red from the blood staining it? She didn't know; she didn't remember. She just knew it was red. The stench that filled her nostrils was revolting, yet one she somehow knew from somewhere... the scent of decaying bodies, mixed with blood. She could hear words, other people, but it felt distant, indistinct, unknown...
Finally, she uses her right arm, propping herself up slightly, as she looks at whatever it is in her left hand. A flute. A metal flute, probably silver at one point, but difficult to tell under the blood that coated it. It was out of tune, and couldn't be put in tune. Wait... was it?
All this thought of things around her, but then she realized... what did she know of herself? She closed her eyes, looking inside, trying to find something, anything, that may give her a clue. However, there was nothing. Nothing... just the same darkness as the darkness that one sees with their eyes closed.
She opens her eyes, and looks at the flute. There was a small glimmer; a section of the flute that hadn't been coated. Turning it over, she reads what is engraved there.
Cindi
Cindi? Who was that? Well, if the flute was hers, then maybe the name on it was hers too... so she decided her name was Cindi.
She then turned, seeing others not far from where she was. She couldn't quite hear them... so she leaned forward...
Alas, that was too far, and something else slid and bumped into her from behind... something limp, like a body... like the others falling from the sky...
The feeling of being unbalanced came first, but before she could react, it had already changed to a feeling of nothing beneath her. She didn't even have time to scream as she crashed into the balcony below, before being taken by the flow of blood down to the ground, cushioned by the bodies there. She groans, before struggling to her feet...
So far, this really wasn't her day...
