Topic: Auguries of Destruction: The Clock Tower Q&A Subject: Alright
Updated the description in the first post of Q&A. I'm editing the first post of the game thread now to accommodate, but nothing else will really be changed.
Added in the date and time too, just for the record, although it's easy enough to guess ^_^

Topic: Auguries of Destruction - The Clock Tower Subject: Auguries of Destruction - The Clock Tower
Saturday September 9th
9:00 PM
The light clattering of the train's wheels on the just slightly uneven track provide a lull, almost a soothing feeling, drawing those in the west-bound train closer to sleep. The journey has been uneventful, just a standard trip, with the train's nose now aimed into the setting sun, and the individual cars all lit by false, electronic light. A few clouds break the otherwise empty and monotonous sky out the windows, with twilight colours settling on both them and the fields below. There is little to see out the windows now, for the train is travelling across prairie-land, but that's alright. The installed cinema, reminiscent of the style of an airplane's, is made up of miniature screens located on the backs of the many seats, with a button control installed on the armrests.
In one of the train's cars, identical to the others in appearance, only six people are seated within. Wisps of immaterial wind can be seen around each of the others, perhaps an indication of their power, their essence. Closer to the back of the car, sitting by one of the windows, a smartly dressed man can be seen typing away on his laptop. He is cleanly shaved, with short, dark brown hair. Every now and then he stops typing, and quickly glances around the train car in a seemingly nervous twitch.
At the front of the car sits a couple. The woman is seated in her wheelchair, apparently asleep with her head resting against the shoulder of the man next to her. She has brunette hair, tied back in a long ponytail, and she is dressed casually, with a few paint stains visible upon her sweater's sleeves. Her suitcase in front of her is thin, but both wide and long, easily capable of holding poster-sized paper. The man next to her has black hair, and no trace of any moustache or beard. Unlike the woman next to her, he is dressed slightly formally, but also seems to hold an air of a mystical person. He is simply gazing out the window, his eyes distant and unfocused, as they have been throughout the trip.
On the opposite side of the couple, a young woman sits. She too is dressed casually, wearing a black hoodie with the hood up. She also exudes an air of confidence about her, which perhaps can be seen by the faint essence swirling about her. A few tufts of platinum-blond hair can be seen just beyond the edge of the black hood.
A few rows back from the couple, near the middle of the car, sits another woman. Like the man in the back, she seems to have a vague air of tension, perhaps apprehension, or something else. There is a slight unease around her grey eyes, but her posture is calm and relaxed. Her hair is a short length of a dyed red colour.
On the opposite side of the car from her is a man with well tanned skin, identifiable as a Native American. He has black hair, and piercing green eyes. However, perhaps the most unnerving thing about him is quite simply how wild he appears, not one anyone would expect with a city job, and although his arms can't be seen, one can guess by his strong looking hands that they are well toned, as would be the rest of his body. He wears a black overcoat with an easily identifiable native tone, with its mosaic embroidery over the shoulders and tassells along the bottom of the sleeves. He also wears similarly dark leather boots, a worn denim pant, and a casual white shirt.
Eventually all sight of the sun vanishes over the horizon in the distance, and outside turns black, lit only by the train's electronic light. Finally, the train's motion can be felt slowing, and it comes to a stop at an outdoor train station next to the town of Altin. The time is 10:45 PM. The train station is reminiscent of the style of the archaic train stations, but is well lit by the electrical lighting. The silence, if one can consider the soft hum of electrical lighting and the clicks of typing silence, is broken by an announcement over the train's PA system.
"We apologize for any inconvenience, however, we will have to delay our departure due to some temporary maintenance. We hope to depart in ten minutes, at 11 o'clock pm at the very latest. We thank you for your understanding." A man's voice can be heard over the PA.
The announcement wakes up the woman in the wheelchair, and she looks around slightly, but seeing that it isn't her destination, leans back against her husband. Shortly after the announcement, the door toward the station at the front of the car slides open, and a woman in a conductor's uniform walks in. The uniform is blue, and she wears a blue cap, underneath which her short blond hair can be seen. Under her arm, she is carrying a black folder. She calmly steps to the centre of the front of the car, and places the folder upon a table which she folds out of the side. The man in the back stops typing as he eyes the woman.
"Now, if you want to proceed, please sign your names here." She says, her voice gentle, and matter-of-factly, as she opens the folder. It only holds one page within it, and on the other side is a ball-point pen. Looking back to everyone, she adds, "It's a contract." and seeing everyone's eyes narrow with suspicion, continues almost reassuringly, "Don't worry, all it says is you'll take full responsibility for your actions. You know, the usual stuff."
The man at the back quickly stands and walks over, but before he can put the the pen to the page, the woman adds, "Real name, if you would please, the name of your soul. Rest assured, not even I will see it."
Raising an eyebrow at the woman, the man carefully signs the page. Following him are the couple at the front, first the husband, who raises an eyebrow at the page, but does sign. The wife then signs, showing only a bare trace of hesitation, confident that her husband would've told her otherwise if she shouldn't have.
Should you choose to scrutinize the page, you find that it is a rather ornate sheet of paper, a pure white page lined with what appears to be gold, and the letters seem to be made from golden leaf. This is what it says:
I chooseth this fate of my own free will.
The path I shalt forge is of my own doing.
Whether good or ill results of my actions,
I accept responsibility for them.
Below this are six lines, the first three already having been filled by the other's signatures, however, try if you will, they are illegible, although whether this is by their intent or not is difficult to say, considering the woman's words that not even she would see the signatures.
((Hehehe, I know I took this bit of the opening involving the signing from another source, but I liked the idea of it... anyway, as she says, if you wish to proceed, sign ^_^))

Topic: Fields of Rune Subject: There is always more than meets the eye
Standing in the shade of a house's roof, off to the side of the roads, a young girl sings alone. She is very young, no older than eight years old from the looks of it, with a wooden bowl placed in front of her, in which are a number of copper and even silver coins others have placed. Few people regard her, for they are busy with their own work, but those that have time do pause, for although she is young, her voice is surprisingly well trained. The song is clear, yet at the same time slow and gentle, more like the whispering of a wind.
A breath of sun in the spring of light,
With the moon's kiss felt during the night.
In the wind a flower sways, and the clouds cry a tear,
The flower grows without cause for fear.
A sunflower that shines through the shadow of doubt,
Yet no one can hear its quiet shout,
As the fall comes and winter showers its snow,
Its seeds are sewn for the new year to grow.
Her eyes are closed as she sings, but when she finishes the last line, she opens them. They are a bright blue, but they are probably not what one would see first when they look at her. Her most noticeable feature is undoubtedly her long hair, for it is not a natural shade, being the blue and green tone of the ocean. She wears a simple dress, worn and stained, a possible indication that she has no home. Behind her, leaning against the building she borrows the shade of, sits a small backpack, perhaps containing her only possessions.

Topic: The Pawsteps to Salvation Subject: Are you sure?
The meeting held very little interest to Tear; she had seen many, and her wandering mind could easily supply the scenes of countless others. That is, until Twigbreaker broke the silence. His proclamation stirred up the others, and from the shadow she was sitting in, Tear saw the emotions rise and fall like a geyser, before settling uneasily with Plumpbelly's premature dismissal. Her golden eyes regarded Plumpbelly calmly, but she did not speak, instead licking her whiskers clean of the snack which she had been eating throughout the meeting.
"So, you would dismiss all hope before it could flourish and blossom." Tear murmurs softly to herself, her muzzle hardly moving with the speech, "And by your will, you would let this child be alone in her stand, simply dismissing the notion as absurd without thinking."
Tear averts her gaze, and closes her eyes, "This is one of the reasons why I am not a part of your clan, although this too is my home."
Turning her back to the others, Tear vanishes into the shadow.
* * *
With a small flick, the young one sends a pebble into the river, disturbing its surface. Tear's golden eyes regard her carefully, from the shadow nearby. As she looked up to the stars, Tear took that time to speak.
"I wouldn't look to the stars, or the moon, or the sun." Tear says gently, "They hold their own plight, independent of those in their light. It isn't that they don't care, but rather that they simply cannot."
Stepping forward into the light, Tear's black, slender body makes nearly no noise as she steps toward the young Shard.
"You are not as alone as you might think, young one." the adult panther adds softly, "But that is something to be said another time. For now, just know that, at the very least, I will not let you stand alone."

Topic: Some Secrets are Best Left Buried... Subject: Listen to what people have to say!
"No? If thy ears canst hear my voice, thou art beyond the world." Shianna murmurs. If she was disheartened, she knew better than to let it show. Even instinctual creatures would be able to sense faltering of heart, and would strike it. If the wolf pack's prey begins to falter, the wolves will redouble their efforts to take it down. In that case, one life is taken so that others may survive, but what of these abominations? Surely there is nothing that would be provided to them in the taking of life, and nothing would be truly returned upon their death. Just more proof of their unforgivable existence.
Isaac calls for a retreat, and Shianna mentally agrees. There is very little to be gained by killing these monsters, for they are as leaves upon a vile and twisted tree; only by striking the roots would the tree be killed. Still, in order to retreat, an opening must be made, and that meant either felling the creatures in their way, or otherwise making them get out of the way. Glancing over her shoulder to see more abominations gathering, Shianna turns to face them.
"Mayhap thy companions art hard of hearing, but art thou?" Shianna asks, once again holding her stone tree pendant, "Wouldst thou open thine eyes?" Shianna asks, glaring at these mindless creatures, "Canst thou see? The world is not the place for thee. There is no place for thee, mere cancers to life. Hearken to me! Thou art beyond the path given to those that live, yet still thou tread it. Where art thou supposed to be? Not in this world, and I shalt give the world a voice. Hear it, and hear the world's cry. Thou shalt begone!"
((I know the first one was a bit better, or at least perhaps a bit longer, but I don't want to be too monotonous... ))

Topic: Buried Secrets Q&A Subject: Well...
If I recall correctly, it was Kilmorrigan who wanted more monsters and wanted me to not turn them, so I guess that means I'll leave him be with his monsters... ^_^
By the way... does the added monsters make this a 'new' encounter?
On another note, the wolf is Shianna's companion, NOT Syana's.

Like I said, I just rolled a lot of ones this round (also, it should be noted that I am rolling Armour Class). Also, I'm not surprised that the Foot Soldier felled one of the party members; engaging it in melee is not advised, given its physical prowess.

Topic: Auguries of Destruction - The Linsemptus Subject: Wow, wave of ill fortune this round
Willow, not to be dismayed at her previous strangely missed hit, swings her right blade across, and again through the Linsemptus Scout without resistance. Bringing her left blade back, however, Willow catches the Linsemptus Scout off balance, and this time her blade does encounter its intangible body, cutting deep into the gelatinous form (-11 hp Linsemptus Scout). In attempting to bring both blades across at the same time, the Linsemptus Scout ducks underneath one, to be caught in the other's path. Unfortunately, the Linsemptus's immateriality once again comes into play, and the blade passes through without harm.
The Linsemptus Scout in front of Dusk manages to swerve its blow around at a peculiar angle, catching Dusk in the forearm with an off-centre punch. (-2hp Dusk)
"By the Guardinal's light, I defy thee." Deunan says evenly, before bringing her blade to bear. Yet, as she readies her blade to strike, imbued with holy might, she waits for a fraction of a second too long, before the Foot Soldier bashes her blade aside with its shield before she can strike (natural 1). However, she isn't done, and swings the blade around still imbued with holy power, slashing into the Linsemptus Foot Soldier's side. (-15 hp Linsemptus Foot Soldier)
"Foul creature begone!" Mist shouts in almost a mirroring of Deunan as she brings her bastard sword about in a fierce two-handed blow hitting the Linsemptus Scout across the neckline (natural 20). Mist's blade seems to glow white as it cuts deep into the Linsemptus Scout, causing it to screech in agony, and now its form looks precariously fragile, with wisps of its body seeming to evaporate and reform in an unstable equilibrium. (-20hp Linsemptus Scout) Unfinished, she brings the bastard sword around again, this time impaling the Scout and causing it to dissipate with an unearthly screech. (-15 hp Linsemptus Scout, felled)
Seeing an opening, Farah fires her bow thrice consecutively. The first arrow hits the Linsemptus Scout in front of Manalagna, jarring it in the arm (-5 hp Scout). The second shot veers wide, but doesn't endanger either Manalagna or Sora. The final shot flies straight and true into the Scout's torso, underneath the arm of Sora, who flinches slightly at the close proximity. (-11 hp Scout)
Not to be left out, Sora whirls his two wrist blades about in a four-hit strike. The first two hit the already off-balance Scout, with the second striking into its torso and cutting fairly deep. (-5, -7 hp Scout) The second two, however, are evaded as the Linsemptus Scout ducks and sidesteps.
Forcing his blade to infringe upon the boundary between spacial addresses, Dusk swiftly strikes forward. However, the Linsemptus Scout sees the blade coming, and twists to the side of its trajectory.
Yin walks over toward Dusk, "Need a hand?" he asks, although his stance indicates he'll help regardless.
The Linsemptus Scout in front of Manalagna hesitates for a moment, before suddenly jabbing its fist into Manalagna's torso. Being a sudden movement, the strike has little force behind it (-1 hp Manalagna).
Dev reaches the Linsemptus Foot Soldier, and slashes his katar before the Foot Soldier can turn to acknowledge his presence. The katar in his hand glow with a white aura as he strikes, and the Linsemptus Foot Soldier winces slightly from the attack. (-12 hp Linsemptus Foot Soldier) It seems the many attacks upon the Foot Soldier are finally beginning to wear it down, for its body seems to appear less substantial, although it is still a considerable threat.
"Arcane Missiles of magic force, I summon thee to now fly forth!" Armand calls, and the Linsemptus Foot Soldier turns in time to see the five missiles as they impact it in the torso. A low growl can be heard as the Foot Soldier's glowing red eyes brighten with fury. (-12 hp Linsemptus Foot Soldier)
Manalagna stands his ground, and begins weaving the magics of a spell. It is the perfect opening for the Linsemptus Scout in front of him. Even though Manalagna's reflexes are enough to make him step to the side, the Scout's attack this time is the same blade it used in the beginning, and it slashes across diagonally into Manlagna's form. (-5 hp Manalagna) There is a cracking sound, and the rift opened by the Scout's blade sends an enormous wave of pain into Manalagna's body, too much for even the dwarf to handle, and he wasn't expecting it either. (Natural 1 for the save, paralysed)
[Round 3]
Knowing that its death is near, the Linsemptus Foot Soldier roars, and slams its blade down upon Deunan, mustering more force than even before. Not even Armand's added protection aids her against the power of the attack, and the blade slashes her grievously across the torso (-21 hp Deunan). The Linsemptus Foot Soldier bashes her blade with its shield, knocking it out of the way of its second, powerful blow, this time catching her off guard as it cuts deeply into her arm, to the bone (-23 hp Deunan). Foregoing power for accuracy on its last strike, the Linsemptus Foot Soldier slams its blade forward, impaling Deunan through the heart, despite her blade attempting to block the blow. (Critical hit, -24 hp Deunan... Deunan is dead) Retracting its blade, slick with Deunan's blood, the Linsemptus Foot Soldier turns toward the others in its reach, with Deunan's limp body falling to the ground.
Mitsuru steps to the side so she is adjacent to both Akihiko and Dev. She holds her hands to her heart, as though praying, and around all three of them, a faint white aura appears.
Xira steps up, around Dev, bringing the Death Scythe from its sling as she does so. The Foot Soldier turns in time to see Xira nearly decapitate it with a swing of her deadly weapon. (-23 hp Linsemptus Foot Soldier) The Foot Soldier lets out a scream of anguish as its form dissipates into nothingness, the noise nearly deafening the people near it. Xira grits her teeth, but she can't truly hide the damage her weapon is inflicting upon her as well as the blood from her hands drips down the scythe's shaft to drip onto the ground.
The remaining Linsemptus Scouts seem slightly shaken by the loss of their squadron leader, but they don't look as though they'll retreat any time soon.
[Status so far]
Xira - Yellow
Yin - Green
Mist - Green
Farah - Green
Sora - Green
Dev - Green
Mitsuru - Green
Akihiko - Green
Willow - 68/72
Dusk - 52/57
Manalagna - 68/78, paralysed
Armand - 72/72
Deunan - dead (past -10)
((Alright... as the subject says, a wave of ill fortune this round... I rolled quite a few ones... In any case, there are two Linsemptus Scouts remaining. One of which is near-dead (the one by Manalagna), and the other looks so-so by Dusk. Your turn... and hopefully the dip in ill fortune means a rise in good fortune sooner rather than later...))

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Emotions of Life - Regret
The shadow of the past weighs more than the world,
And not-taken paths grow dull and curled.
The desire to go back, and make one's place brighter,
Stepping back to undo the flames of the lighter.
Return to the past, undo a mistake,
Choose the other path that one would make.
Time flows in one direction, unheeding and cruel,
Sometimes too swiftly, gathering mistakes as fuel.
What are mistakes and what are not?
Look carefully at what has been wrought.
True, it seems the journey is unbearably long,
But bypassing it would bring about more wrong.
The hands of time cannot be turned back,
They simply follow their single train track.
Perhaps one can't go back, but one has to move on,
For in the end, what is done is done.
Life consists of both joy and woe,
But it is the moment that decides where we'll go.
Still, one can't help but look at things that were,
And think of something better to occur.

When Aelistae fell, Linnix feared the worst. That distance could have easily killed her... but it didn't. That in itself held much relief for Linnix, but the battle was far from over.
She's alright.
Taking her gaze away from Aelistae, Linnix looked back to the drow in the sky. Linnix could feel the hatred, the enmity welling inside of her. It had been a while since she felt that way, with her life's new direction, but it was still there. At least now perhaps Linnix would not let it blind her. Perhaps.
"Thank you." Linnix absently says to Dylan next to her as she feels the stinging in her body lessen as some of her wounds heal.
Gritting her teeth, and willing her body to endure more punishment, Linnix prepares to commit to her next act. The ugly, squabbling goblins around her wait patiently, knowing she'll give them the opportunity to hit. Well, in revenge, one has to make sacrifices.
"Why don't you just die?" Linnix mutters spitefully, raising the bow once more and firing at the dark priestess above.

Topic: Some Secrets are Best Left Buried... Subject: Our first turning attempt...
Behind her, Shianna heard the rather loud footfalls of the Khordaldrum behind her. Inside, she grimaced slightly. It wasn't her place to judge others, but she disliked how he always seemed to hound her as though she were a pane of glass. Perhaps he thought he was giving her enough space, but Shianna held discontent at his persistent proximity regardless.
Then, with a snap of a twig, the situation became far more complicated.
Shianna shakes her head; she should've known better... the others were used to the paths worn into the ground, where debris would not fall or lie for long, not the floor of a forest that as easily could reveal presence as well as hide it to those who aren't accustomed to it. Or was this a test for her, set by the world in order for her to grow even more? Was there something to be done?
Thoughts will have to wait, for the hostile creatures draw nearer. Shianna grimaces. No, these are not creatures. There is no word that she knows to describe such abominations. Twisted semblances of the life that was, it is unforgivable. Beside her, Meera growls, and Shianna feels it as well. The desire of the forest around her, no, the world itself, to be rid of this disease that taints it.
"Unforgivable." Shianna barely whispers, before standing tall and glaring at the pathetic and twisted semblances of life before her.
"Let my words be heard even unto thy deaf ears." Shianna begins, holding one hand to the pendant about her neck, the stone circle upon which a tree grows, "The eternal cycle that is the world's life goes in but one direction. From birth unto life, and within life, growth, until finally death. Thou, pathetic semblances of the life that was," Shianna emphasizes, pointing at the decaying creatures, "hearken to me! Are thy senses so dulled that they doest not feel the whole of the world willing to be rid of thee? Let me speak for the forest, no, the world itself," Shianna adds, waving her arm as though to reveal the entirety of the universe to these senseless, instinctual abominations, "I bid thee BE GONE!"

Shianna bows her head slightly. It is indeed brave to not falter in one's step, and to not give in to fear, yet... at the same time, where does bravery end and recklessness begin? Where does caution cross the line and become paranoia? It is a fine line, a very delicate boundary...
The silent voice within one's heart whispers the most profound wisdom. Shianna listens carefully, and her gaze wanders to a tree by the path. The trees! Shianna smiles; it would satisfy both sides, or so she hopes.
"If we continue forward, would it be better to at least stay off the path?" Shianna asks, "That way we'll be able to see ahead, while the trees can protect us from being seen, and still give us the choice to avoid the town if we must."

Topic: Forgotten Realms: the Unsung Heroes Q/A Subject: Well, as far as group names go
There's two ways to do it. One consists of two parts, where the first part is a synonym to 'group' or 'alliance', and the second part is a unifying factor.
'Communion of Tethyr' for instance (it doesn't quite work for our group, seeing as how we're not all given the quest at Tethyr, but you get the idea of the format)
The other type of group name consists of a single phrase of about two words that is both a sort of unifying factor and works as a name.
For example, 'The Moonlit Brigade'
I just picked 'Moonlit' seeing as how a lot of what we've done so far at least has taken place at night or in darkness of some sort (i.e. the cave)

Topic: Some Secrets are Best Left Buried... Subject: This isn't right...
Meera whines softly, a noise that easily shatters the relative quiet.
"Shh, I know." Shianna murmurs gently to her companion, patting it again on the head to reassure it.
Glancing toward the others, Shianna speaks up, but hesitates. Even after being with the others for a while, it still felt peculiar, breaching the separate worlds in which they lived. The world of the wild, and the world of civilization... alongside each other, yet separate and distinct. It is easy to see as well, especially in comparing her own untamed appearance to the silent Syana, or any of the others for that matter.
"There's something... wrong." Shianna finally says, "I don't know what it is, or where it is, but I can feel it in the air; Meera can smell it seeping out of the ground, and I hear it in the rain. This isn't by nature, whatever it is. I think... we should avoid that village, and..." Her eyes look toward the distant shapes in the mist, "The people from it."

Arturo had shown Sen the collection, and though it was in the sylph's nature to be taken by such things, his collection was extraordinary by even a sylph's standards. Sen tried to be polite, taking only the gems she thought she'd need, but at Arturo's prompting, she took a few more just to be safe.
However, one gem caught her eye. Following her line of sight, Arturo pointedly explained that the one she was looking at is one that's still uncut, and as such probably unable to be used in sylph magic. It seems to glimmer in the light, not one colour of the spectrum, but all of them, just a bit stronger with a slightly blue tone.
"That's not what interests me." Sen murmured, "You haven't been able to cut it, have you?"
Arturo glanced at Sen, and nodded.
"That's because it was already cut, but it is now broken." Sen explained, But how did it get here? Sen wonders.
"What do you mean?"
"Its smooth edge isn't just the side of a crystal formation," Sen continued, taking the fragment in her hand, and angling it, "If you look at it in the right orientation, you can clearly see that it is a quarter of a cut gemstone."
"That's an interesting claim, and you're right, in that orientation it looks like the side of a diamond cut gem, but how do you know of it?"
"I know it from another world." Sen murmured, "How it got here, I do not know..."
"I see, well then, I presume you will return it when you are able to, so please take it as well."
"Thank you." Sen replied, curtsying, "For your hospitality."
* * *
Sen wanders outside, holding the crystal fragment in the moonlight.
"It is quite a surprise... but it also makes sense in a way. Where Darkside brings about destruction, she would be there, to be a seed of rebirth, providing restoration." Sen murmurs quietly.
"That's why you came here, isn't it, Bellianae?" Sen murmurs.
"Well, and I've been just following you, because you are one of my only friends, although it's hard to keep up with you." a kindly woman's voice can be heard, although no source can be seen.
"I would hope so, otherwise Darkside and his group would've found me already." Sen giggles.
"It's funny, they're so intent on hunting you they never even noticed me." Bellianae adds.
"Will you be joining me then?" Sen asks, her voice hesitant.
"Of course, silly. It's only natural to help a friend." Bellianae replies.
"Are you going to stay in crystalline form for a while?" Sen wonders aloud.
"Yes, I think I will. That way we won't be easily separated, yet I can still aid you as needed. Plus, I wouldn't want to upset your friends... men seem to get nervous when there's more than one woman around." Bellianae chuckles.
Arturo could see all that is in a moment, but Bellianae's real form is still this fragment of crystal. Sen realizes, So there's no illusion to see through. I suppose that's fortunate, because I'm uncertain how he would've reacted to her, but... at the same time, Sen thinks, I wish you were complete.
Even in this form, Sen does not need to sleep, so she sits in the moonlight outside, contemplating what is going to happen.
