Hiya~

Hope you have a good day, and upcoming year
Just do what you can, don't give in to fear
Move forward or back under your own power
Have a wonderful year with your growing flower

And with that, I'd better go catch the bus to school...

Personally, I like the alternate viewpoint and depth that a companion character provides. And I also liked what you've done so far with her. Ultimately though, the choice of whether you'll keep her or not is up to you, so I won't impose really.

Subject: At V-Corner Convenience, every day is customer appreciation day~

Eventually, Lily reached her destination, a store at the corner of a block. After entering, she locked the door to the V-Corner convenience store, wandering to the back of the shop and up the stairs. Almost immediately she was beset by her mother, who looked quite worried.

"Why are you soaked?" She asked, "I was getting worried... it is the full moon after all."

"I'm okay," Lily replied, taking the smaller woman's hands, since she didn't want to get her wet, "I just missed the bus is all, so took a long way around." She said soothingly. No point in getting her mother even more worried with what transpired at midnight. "Don't worry, I made sure that I wasn't seen in the rain."

Her mother sighed, a bit relieved, "That's good. Don't worry me like that."

"I'll be careful." Lily promised.

"Good. Well, you'd better go up and dry yourself off, and you should sleep soon." Ms. Vritova replied.

Lily nodded, "Yeah, I'm pretty tired."

Wandering up to the third floor, Lily grabbed a towel from the bathroom closet, before setting the bag with Elly down by another door, while she slipped off her clothes and towelled herself down. After that, she slipped into her den, and put on a nightgown, before wandering back to the door where she set Elly against.

"Time for you to meet the others." Lily murmured softly, picking up the otter-mask and wandering into the room. It was dark, until Lily lit a candle near the centre of the room, next to a mat on the floor. Across the walls, several masks were put up, of various creatures or animals.

You're a bit late. Did something happen? A very soft voice whispered in Lily's ears as she entered.

"It did, Fillaera, but it's a bit late to talk about it tonight." Lily nodded towards a butterfly mask, "Just thought I'd drop by and introduce Elly to all of you." She said, holding up the otter mask she had just bought.

Um, hi. Elly said shyly.

There was an assorted response of murmurs and hi's in response, before Lily wandered over and placed Elly on one of the walls.

"Well, afraid it's a bit late, and I've some things to think about. I'll see you all later." Lily said, yawning and putting out the candle.

See to it you get to rest right away. A strict voice replied.

"Don't get your feathers in a tangle, Minna." Lily replied, waving her hand as she left the room, "I'll sleep when I get to sleep."

Lily promptly went to her den, and curled up in her blankets, on the mattress on the floor. The next morning, however, Lily was awoken early by a very rude noise. It sounded halfway between a sharp cry and a series of screeches.

"Damn it, Minna!" Lily growled in the direction of the adjacent room, "You are not a rooster! How many times to the others and I have to tell you?!"

Muttering a bit to herself, Lily got up on all fours, circled around the mattress twice, before curling up and falling asleep again. After a bit longer, Lily finally got up on all fours, stretching and yawning. Searching around her den, she gathered up some clothes, before wandering in to the bathroom and showering. The warm water felt much better than the cool rain she had soaked in the last night. Lily finished up, slipping on a loose skirt and shirt, before wandering downstairs to get some breakfast. At the table though, her mother looked a bit concerned.

"Lily... did anything actually happen last night?" She asked.

Lily shook her head, "No... I just went to the mall, you know they were having an opening, so I took a look. Bought Elly, she's an otter I found, and headed back."

Ms.Vritova tilted her head, before she nodded, "I see... I was just wondering because of the newspaper this morning." She held out the copy across the table for Lily to see.

Lily tilted her head, reading the article. She shook her head, "No, that's no where close to where I was."

Ms.Vritova nodded, smiling, "That's good... was just a bit worried."

Lily wandered over, hugging the smaller woman, "I know. Don't worry mother, I'm not going to get in trouble."

Ms.Vritova smiled again, "That's good to hear. I'll be getting some groceries, so can you watch over the store today?"

Lily smiled, "Of course. I wasn't thinking of doing very much today."

And so, a bit later, Lily was working behind the front counter of the V-Corner, running her fingers along the intricate patterns of Fillaera's wings, as she had brought the butterfly mask down.

You know I get a bit nervous being in public, Lily. Fillaera murmured, her wings appearing to flicker in Lily's mind.

"It's fine, Fillaera. I can just put you down behind the counter if someone comes in." Lily replied, running a finger along Fillaera's body to soothe her.

I... think I'd be more comfortable if you talked to me with your mind. Fillaera replied, You have to admit that talking aloud is a bit... peculiar...

Lily shrugged, "If you want me to." She replied, "I forget with you though... you're the only one who can hear me that way."

I know. I'll remind you though. Fillaera giggled, before stopping, So what did happen last night?

I'm not exactly sure, Lily replied honestly, I thought at first it was some sort of on-site screening for a movie or something... but there were real guns, and people did die.

Hold on. Start from the beginning, and tell me everything. Fillaera said slowly and calmly.

And so, Lily did, in between taking care of the counter and watching out for customers. Afterwards, Fillaera fell silent while she contemplated. Lily chuckled to herself, used to Fillaera's silence during her thinking. She hummed idly, glancing out of the store and watching the humans pass by, all immersed in their own daily life.

Galen absently rubbed a hand along his smooth chin. How much? What would a quantitative measurement be to a subjective concept? Was this the literal worse case scenario, or just the 'worst case scenario that the person is thinking of'? In which case, what was the worst case scenario that the man was thinking of?

The absolute worst case scenario, of course, would be that it was all an elaborate set up with an adventurer-hiring agency involved in an (at least) country-wide conspiracy maybe bent on converting magic into primatory fuel for a sub-fantasy nuclear war to elevate some person of some (in)significance into domination over all in this plane before possibly working on extra-world domination, whereby they had already lost because their every decision was part of a huge roulette orchestrated by some machinator of impressive intelligence, culminating in the removal and or murder of all closely involved and all would-be-interfere-ers when it was convenient.

Focusing the scope of 'worst case' scenaria to the current situation, however, Galen worked on additional thoughts. Based on observational templates and personae of individuals that may or may not be involved, the function of R(p), where R was a numeric measure of risk (in particular of kobold attack), and p was the number of human individuals that went to the gathering, looked to be a parabola of similar appearance to x^2. If there were very few, then the probability for the extremists of the kobold movement to attack would be relatively high. Likewise, if there were many past a certain point, there was a chance that the extremists would view an attack as reckless enough to work.

In his mind, Galen very roughly sketched out a formula for it:
R(p) ≈ |m(subtext min) - p| * i(subtext E) * E(k) + i(subtext O) * N(O) - A(5) * (E(k) + N(O))
Where:
m(subtext min) was the number of people to achieve the minimum R(p) based on just number of people alone
i(subtext E) was the initiative of the extremist kobolds to take action
E(k) was the number of extremist kobolds in the kobold population
i(subtext O) was the initiative of an orchestrator in this situation (0 for if an/the orchestrator is not present or doesn't care)
N(O) was the number of individuals the orchestrator could influence
and A(5) was the level of intimidation that the party posed

Galen paused, contemplating a moment further. After a moment, he considered that perhaps someone as potentially literal as himself shouldn't answer this particular question.

He considered that the others should be glad he wasn't a user of the Tower Arcanum.

The man glanced down along the hall both ways a moment, before looking back to Eve.

"Well, if you ever happen across her, could you let her know that she'll need to pick up her citizenship documents as soon as she can?" He said, shrugging, before looking at his laptop again, "I suppose the information I was given may be incorrect as well..."

He paused a moment, before shrugging again, closing the lid of the laptop and setting it at his side, "Oh well. I'm just up in room 418 on the fourth floor. I apologize for the mistaken identity. Good night."

With that, the man turned to leave, and would walk down the hall and up the stairs if not interrupted.

Lily looked up, blinking a bit as she watched the rain. It didn't seem to be letting up soon enough, so she nodded to herself, waiting a few moments for the aching in her body to fade, stepping to the side before feeling her body shift back to its alternate form. She shivered a bit, feeling the water on her body, quickly putting her clothes back on. They'd get soaked, but she knew they would have anyway in this rain.

Lastly, she took out her umbrella, and opened it. She couldn't really carry it in her natural form, so... She shrugged to herself, before Lily picked up the plastic bag.

Did you forget me? The inquisitive voice asked in her mind.

Lily shook her head, "Sorry about that." She whispered, "Things got a bit... complicated."

Strange to hear you say that. Elly giggled, So, where are we going now?

"To my den." Lily replied, "Home."

Reassured that Elly had survived, Lily walked down the alley, den-ward-bound.

Galen held out his right hand, palm up, towards the right of him. Now would have been the time to speak in a booming voice to obtain everyone's undivided attention, but alas, that was not part of his personality, nor was it among his repertoire of abilities. So, instead, he talked as he normally did, foreseeing a large number of 'what was that?' and 'what did he say?' in the near future.

"Such an open display of weaponry would suggest hostile intent, and set the alternate side on the defencive, hardly the best way to foster trust and open communications. Trust is the key. While it is true you have to trust in them that you do not need weaponry, at the same time, they have to come to a similar trust, in order to allow you within their home to begin with." He murmured.

"Consider the opposite as well." Galen added, "If contact and negotiations took place here... what would you all think if they bore weaponry? I doubt that the first thing you'd all think of would be that it's just due to them being nervous and wanting self-protection. No, instead the first thought likely would be in wondering if they intend to use those weapons against you and your loved ones. I would elaborate further, but that should be sufficient to answer the question."

A bit more quietly, he muttered to himself, "Between groups, paranoia begets paranoia, and when the facade collapses, no one is left standing."

Developer's note: This game is in development and likely won't start for a couple of weeks. I'm just looking at interest right now.

Benjamin Lacoord yawned, stretching his arms, absently clawing at the air above his head. Bringing his hands back down, he opened his eyes and stared at his laptop screen.

Bloody essays. He thought to himself, his eyes absently trailing over the typed document on the screen, before flicking over to the bottom right corner. 11:45PM. **** he thought, I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow to finish this thing.

Shutting his laptop down, he quickly wandered over to his bed, and promptly collapsed onto it. He was exhausted, and sleep found him quickly, aided by the lull of the falling rain outside.

Fog. Benjamin opened his eyes, and blinked again. He carefully got to his feet, and looked around. Dull fog as far as the eye could see, which wasn't far. He slipped his hands into his hoodie pocket, and pulled out a cigarette, before swearing when he realized his lighter was in his jacket pocket. What kind of messed up dream was this?

Shuffling his feet, he began to wander around, cigarette still in his mouth. Once the shock factor had worn off, he found himself quickly getting bored. It didn't seem like there was anything-

WHAM.

He staggered back, rubbing his head, swearing at the pain. Looking forward, he noticed he had run into a wall. Reaching his hand forward, he traced the wall with his hand, searching for detail. He eventually found a sign, and felt it.

Metrokiri West End Mall

Ben blinked. He lived in the East End district... so why was he all the way over at West End in this dream? And why was he dreaming about West End anyway? He shrugged. It was just a dream. He didn't care. Absently he wandered over and, by memory, found the rotating door entryway. Entering the mall, he wandered around. It was all quiet, with only his footsteps echoing on the tiled floor.

The fog was lighter inside, so he could vaguely see shapes. The various stores... Ben pondered a moment, wandering over to the staff only rooms.

"Stay back!" He heard someone yell from behind the door.

"Hey, I'm not going to hurt anyone, or don't think I will anyway... some messed up dream this is." He replied with a chuckle.

He noticed that the door was ajar, so he leaned forward and tried to take a look inside.

WHAM.

This time, he felt something crack in his neck as the door was slammed open into him. He felt himself almost cracking as he hit the floor. As he felt himself fading, he absently wondered if he would just wake up.

He didn't.

Game Description:

This will be a free-form horror type game, not too different in a way from Silent Hill I suppose.

The setting is modern/semi post-modern, and takes place in Metrokiri, a hypothetical port town situated between a mountain range and the ocean. Not necessarily earth, but roughly the level of earth's current technology. The ocean and this mountain range are rather close, with Metrokiri spanning the width between them. The highway that connects Metrokiri to the rest of the country goes through the nearby mountain, an underground highway. Metrokiri's ports and the city itself are raised a bit to accommodate for the consistent and sometimes heavy rainfall, and usually prevents flooding.

Metrokiri's districts and transit and other details to be worked out.

Weather: Metrokiri, due to its location, is usually cloudy or raining. It can get foggy after the rain.

Character Death: It's a topic that can't be avoided, particularly in Horror-genre games, but I am considering a mechanic by which, although a player will need to begin with a different character, they may be able to obtain memories and experiences of their previous one. This does not mean in any way shape or form that the two characters *have* to be related. More information to come as I develop it.

Just checking for interest right now. Character creation is not required, and actually isn't advised right now...

Pending interest, more information will be posted as I develop it.

The man shook his head, "I'm not with anyone, officially. The only thing I pay attention to is what my my clients assign to me. In some circumstances, it's a personal matter, particularly when it comes to missing people..."

He turned the laptop, holding it out for Eve to see, the text size large enough for her to read it without getting too close, "This is you, isn't it?"

However, the screen has a different story. It is a text document, rather than a website.

Name: Evelyn Meadows
Birthplace: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
No picture available
The date of birth is Eve's own, but the rest of the information is clearly unrelated to her life as Cheryl.

"If this is you," The man said carefully, "Then you are the beneficiary of my client. If it is not you, then I will apologize for taking up your time and the mistaken identity."

Eve's Apartment
11:19 PM

As Eve gets ready for bed, there is a knock on the door. Surprising in itself, considering that room service seldom operate at such times.

"Miss, are you awake?"

It was a man, no doubt... specifically however, the voice belonged to the laptop carrying man.

Should Eve open the door, she'll find him standing about a foot back from it, laptop carried on one arm, typing away with his other hand. It's completely up to Eve whether she does or simply ignores him.

If she does however, the man makes an interesting statement, "It is not my business why, but..." He pauses a moment, his eyes slightly distant, before he nods, "I believe you may be the beneficiary of one of my clients..."

((just putting out ideas as I get them... I'm not actually going to restart this game yet unless everyone wants to))
