Somewhere Between Wanqir and Aqinarr

Three Hours before Twilight

"Why are you getting in my way?! Get out of my way!" The hunter snarls.

Seeing no other option, Dusk slashes the man twice, once catching him across the torso in a rather deep wound and once shallowly across the arm. The man grunts in pain, now bordering on the severely wounded. He steps back, but not to retreat. He holds his hand in front of him, and as he brings it to himself, he murmurs something just under his breath, causing his hand to glow white. Touching his hand to his breast, the whiteness surges into his body, which accepts it greedily. The man's wounds diminish as he looks at Dusk with a second wind, hatred brewing in his eyes.

The wind blows gently, swaying the grass, and it unfortunately causes the young tiger to become visible as she sneezes from a stray grass tickling her nose. The hunter's eyes glare at the young tiger, freezing her in place with just his malevolent will.

At the sound of the chime, Linnix jumped to her feet.

“Stay where you are my pets, one way or another you will fetch me my price, whether it be alive and whole, or as corpses or in pieces."

"A pathetic imbecile who merely plays with poison." Linnix mutters angrily, "I will kill you."

Linnix's dress in this bizarre light seems to glow an eerie red as she runs to grab her equipment. Her eyes gleam with rage and malevolence. If by sheer will one could harm another, Linnix's rage would've been enough to kill.

“I'll give you the worth of your lives in exchange for the three”

Without the use of her eyes, Linnix could easily assume that this was the same person that had met with Aelistae the previous night. Well, at least he's not late. Linnix thinks, Wait, the worth of their lives? That's really not that much... Although I suppose they would value it more. She adds vindictively.

“All transactions are final. Thank you for coming, and I’ll see you in hell!”

Serves them right... Linnix sourly thinks, then she thinks about how they got into this mess, Ugh, never accept anything at face value... and that's something my parents said, of all people.

Linnix continues to lie on the floor, not because she is keeping up her act (although she is doing that too), but because she isn't bothering to get up.

Linnix hears the person begin the auction. This didn't bode well, but maybe... an idea sparks in her mind. It might not necessarily work, and Linnix isn't sure how to do it well, but it is still better than nothing.

Linnix relaxes her body, letting her hands fall, trying not to react or do anything. Her head falls back, eyes closed. This is just another role, she realizes, another disguise, and disguises she could do well. She didn't need to talk or anything to portray this, so nothing was really required, just the look.

And so, Linnix let herself look, for all the audience to see, dead.

The hunter proves capable of dodging, as he sidesteps Dusk's first blow, but Dusk's followup with his other blade catches the hunter on the arm. The hunter winces slightly, but manages to position his shield in time to block Dusk's final slash.

The hunter lets out a cry as he swings his blade in a powerful arc, but it is too slow, and Dusk evades the blade easily. The hunter's followup holds no added power to it, but it nearly catches Dusk in the side as he sidesteps, missing by an inch.

Glancing back over his shoulder for a brief second, Dusk can barely see the young tiger, as it is lying as far down on the ground as possible, using the somewhat tall grass as well as it can to hide it. It appears that the hunter cannot see it, however, since he grits his teeth and hisses, "Get out of my way."

Oops, I made one big mistake then... I assumed that the effect ended when you attacked, which on the whole doesn't make much sense...

I'll go fix that right now!

EDIT: There, I fixed it, taking into account the miss factor (which makes him miss both times).

Subject: Haste Without Waste

The girl did not sleep that night. She was too anxious, too nervous, and besides, the ground might have betrayed her presence if she landed to sleep. However, it's not as though she needs sleep, so it's not that much of a loss.

Morning. Bright and warm, with only shadows to hide the darkness. From her view up here, she can see a flowering cherry tree. Time for a detour! There is a myth among sylphs of a special type of blossom. It only blooms on cherry trees, and even then it is quite rare, being a seemingly unnatural occurance. Unnatural it may be, the rainbow blossom, a cherry tree flower with a larger number of petals that display the whole spectrum, is very pretty. Its core is a bright white, said to glow with varying intensity, growing stronger the darker it is. It is even said that the flower is immortal, never aging or dying, a true witherless flower, even if taken from the tree.

Of course, it is still just a flower, but beauty is still beauty, no matter the source, whether it be from stone or wood. Still, the pretty things of other worlds is exactly the reason why this girl wanders throughout the worlds, collecting little tokens. The girl dances through the air around the cherry tree, searching for the mythical flower. After going around the whole tree several times, the girl stops, pretty sure that the flower isn't there. Oh well the girl thinks, maybe there'll be one on another tree.

One thing about the myth that this girl was not told, however, is that on the same tree that has a rainbow flower, it also always has a pitch black flower bulb. It only blooms when the rainbow flower is taken off of the tree, and when it does, a monster is created from its pollen, and the monster pursues the one with the rainbow flower. The flower only gives off enough pollen to make one, and then whithers into dust, but often one is enough. The monster appears as two black orbs, each with a white circle on its 'front' with three silvery spikes arranged at the top, side, and bottom, and on the other side is a black chain that connects the two orbs. The spikes are usually retracted, keeping the two orbs spherical in shape. They float and hover through the air by unknown means, and their chain can increase or decrease in length, giving them quite a formiddible reach. These monsters are referred to as Black Guardians.

Finally, the dust from the original black flower would gather and solidify into a single black arrow, which would then multiply several times, resulting in twenty arrows in total. These arrows are slightly unstable, being made of a bizarre substance, and when they impact something from being fired, they cause an explosion of blackness that does further damage to the object or creature they hit.

The girl lightheartedly returns to following the stranger on the ground below, unknowing exactly what would happen if she did find and take the rainbow flower.

There are two very large concerns I have regarding your post.

First of all, you cannot throw a melee weapon that does not have a range increment. As such, if I were to update your message as it is, the greatsword plunks to the ground not 10ft from you. Also, if you look at the part where Ken does plunk his greatsword into the ground, he claps Manalagna on the shoulder, indicating that he is actually right next to him at that point in time.

Secondly, Xira is 100ft away from your current position; only a longbow has the range to hit her at this time from your location, so even if the greatsword could be thrown, the increment penalties along with your inproficiency almost make it assured that it would not hit Xira under normal circumstances.

I'll suggest you revise your post...

"A child is innocent of its birth, no matter the crimes of its parents. Evil is not inflicted by race anymore than by gender,"

The man visibly snarls, "Yes, if it were a newborn born just now. It has already learned things from its parents no doubt. In any case, I will not take that chance."

With that, the hunter charges forward, but he does not get more than a step before Dusk vanishes before his eyes. He tenses, much like any predator does when the predator becomes the prey. From out of nowhere, Dusk strikes the man easily, jabbing his blade into the man's shoulder joint and withdrawing the blade in a fluid motion.

"I see now, of course. That's why they went to you, demon!" The hunter hisses accusingly.

In the meantime, the young tiger, glad it has somewhere to back up to, walks backwards, keeping its eyes on the two humanoids.

The man tries to counterattack Dusk, slashing the air in front of him with his blade, but failing to meet anything with it.

Iskanna looks at the distant smoke trail and can't help but give a sigh. She is not the walking type. She isn't even really a fighting type. Why wasn't the church happy with her just doing clerical duties while reading all the books in the libraries for the tenth time? Who knows, she could've ended up having an epiphany that might have resulted in the making of a spell that... well, she doesn't know. It is just a path she was dragged off of, and that is easy to do in a physical sense. Her unnaturally light and slim frame gives her an overall frail appearance.

Grudgingly, Iskanna begins the long trek outlined by the smoke above, her thoughts meandering on her multiple favourite books.

Renshiir's lip curls in disgust at the notion of actually paying that craftsperson anything for what he does.

"Well, he is in the northern district of Hylon, but I think I'll just say, just to forewarn you, he wouldn't care if you were an angel giving a divine command or a demon with their hand at his throat. He will severely overcharge everyone, for no real reason other than he is extremely greedy. I'd even bet that trying to get him to lend us his workshop would cost us even more than these crystals are worth."

Noting how Armand and Deunan look at her to elaborate, Renshiir quickly adds, "And they are worth quite a bit, this one for instance..." She says, holding up the one she was examining, "Is at least worth eight hundred gold crowns as it is, being in a raw and somewhat unusable form. If we cut it into stones so as to be able to be set in jewellery..."

Renshiir looks at the crystal in her hand, counting and speculating, "I'd guess it'd be worth at least twice what it is right now; three times if the cuts are very well done."

Shaking her head to refocus on the present rather than any work she could do, Renshiir finishes by saying, "In any case, we could wander back to Hylon, but chances are that pig likely is already asleep."

"Child or not, it is still a lycanthrope." The man says coldly, "and all lycanthropes are evil things. If I leave it, it will take that as weakness, and then it'll consider everything inferior to it, and then it will kill other people. I cannot allow that to happen."

As he speaks the man slowly advances. Taking tentative steps, the young tiger backs away from him, but it still carefully considers Dusk as well; it tries to remain in the middle between the two humanoids.

"If you're going to defend it," The man says sharply, having noticed Dusk's reaching for his blade, "Then you too are an enemy. Take that into consideration before you go too far."

Now that the man is getting closer, Dusk can see that he also has a bow upon his back, and glinting silver shafts poke out of his quiver. He is clearly a lycanthrope hunter. The young tiger watches the two humanoids, uncertain what to do, and uncertain which way to run.

Darkness... Only darkness... No dreams... No light... Caera? ... Where are you? ... Aelistae?

Linnix opens her eyes, and then immediately wishes she hadn't. Perhaps she is still dreaming. A nightmare?
Voices in the background... what are they saying?

"...Linnix, who with a little more training might prove to be quite the dancer, but her natural beauty and grace are easily seen, and while I hear she’s quite the little firecracker, I’m sure you all know how to teach obedience to your pets am I right?"

Linnix jolts upright upon hearing her name, now awake. She takes in everything with a single glance. She had let down her guard. She should've known better. The flickering emotions fly over her face, but fortunately the white mask helped conceal them. Linnix feels infuriated. If she only had her crossbow. Every single despicable thing in the crowd deserves a bolt through the head. Linnix's hands clench in rage and malevolence. She couldn't do that; she might as well be helpless.

“Forgive me for what I’m about to do.”

It is Aelistae's voice, but what is she-

Linnix cries out in pain against Aelistae's strike, but she catches on immediately. "What are you-" She begins in feigned innocence.

“Foolish women! You led me here to be captured by these humans! I will kill you for your stupidity!”

I hope this works, Linnix thinks as she grips Aelistae's wrists in playing along, letting her body grow limp in feigned weakness. From her eyes she begins crying, thinking about memories which always causes her to cry. Inside Linnix also tries to think a bit ahead. What would she do if this worked? It looked like running would be the only option.

Renshiir, completely lost in her own world examining the crystal javelin, is suddenly jolted back to reality in being directly addressed.

Renshiir smiles, "Thank you. I might have been a spy, but that doesn't mean the only thing I spied on was what I was ordered to do. There was one very very bizarre place I always felt intrigued at in Hylon. It isn't a common place, and with little wonder why. The man who works there charges far too much for his work, although, admittedly he does do very unique things. What he does is he takes crystals, and actually forges with them. Mind you, I still think he's charging far too much given that the person has to supply the crystals as well as pay him a price that might as well be as though the crystals weren't supplied and that the result is magical (which it is not; I could tell right away). I didn't like that, so I spied on his work (he never lets people watch), and..."

Renshiir's voice drops to a whisper, as though she's confiding a huge secret, "I think I actually know more than he does at his own profession."

Renshiir gives an uncomfortable laugh, "Of course, I haven't been able to make anything yet, but I suppose that's what I'll finally get to do now."

Renshiir looks at the crystal javelin in her hand, "Actually, if you wanted, I could make something for you with these. We'd just have to 'borrow' that guy's furnace."

Reaching the same place where she had been nearly knocked over by the rushing woman, Willow meets up with a band of searching people. With a bit of regret, Willow recognizes many of the people as people whom the woman had also run into, who appeared to be searching the road of the street itself for things they had missed. Their voices jumble together to form incoherent noise, but a few voices can be distinctly heard by Willow.

"Has anyone seen a purse?" One person in the crowd asks.

"While we're at it, let's try to find my daughter's present I bought for her." Another person says.

"I could have sworn I had fastened my amulet."

"Hey! The inventory's not right! There's a couple items missing!" A vender along the side yells at his employee.

A man just to the left of Willow sighs, "This seems to be the road of lost items these days, ever since this road became a delivery route."

There is a substantial number of people searching for things, but not in a direct line. A few are likely still looking from previous days. It seems finding the delivery woman might be harder than it first appeared.

The tiger doesn't make it ten feet away from Dusk before it collapses. Its legs had just given out, and its breathing as seen through its deathly thin chest is laboured. Its eyes are closed; it is not long for this world. A soft meowing sound is heard, and another, smaller tiger paws at its mother. It, like its mother, is rather thin, but not nearly as starved. Apparently, its mother was strong enough to perhaps provide a few meals for its offspring, but not enough for the both of them, and it is clear which life it valued more.

The tiger is young, but there's something peculiar about it. The way it looks at its mother, as though there's far more understanding of her sacrifice, and the way it glimpses at Dusk, with a bizarre look almost like recognition. Perhaps it doesn't recognize Dusk, but it definitely knows that Dusk is an Elf, and its golden eyes seem to show an intellect that is more than of a mere tiger.

"Finally, its mother has fallen."

Stepping up towards the tigers in the same direction they came is a human. He is dressed with the likeness of a hunter, and his eyes look upon the tigers with indifference and unkindness. The man pulls a glinting silver longsword out of its sheath.

Seeing Dusk, the man says, rather businesslike, "You might want to stand back. That lycanthropic spawn there," he points at the younger tiger with his blade, "is going to die."

The tiger in question looks back and forth, from the man to Dusk, uncertain what to do. The mother tiger's breathing stops, and a slight gentle breeze blows through the area.

The sylph girl hovers in her spot several feet above the tops of the trees. It seemed that the stranger had an interest in her blade, of course. It did come out of nowhere after all, but now how was she going to get it back without revealing herself to him?

The answer came to her quite quickly, being naturally gifted with magical capabilities. Still invisible, the girl murmurs softly, beckoning the sword up with her words and motions. The sword pulls itself up from the wooden trunk it rests against, and, without apparent cause, flies into the night sky. The girl makes sure that it flies around a bit, making sure to loose the stranger if they followed the sword with their eyes, until it comes to her, hidden above a thickly leaved tree. As soon as she touches the blade, it too disappears from sight, and she puts it in her bag.

Her interference is now complete, and the girl shivers as she looks at the moon, flying to a higher altitude as she does so. What repurcussions, if any, could this bring about? The girl doesn't know, and hopes in her heart that it is nothing.

Willow wanders towards the southern riverbank, probably not as pretty as the northern riverbank, but definitely less crowded. Her mind wanders as she herself walks along the busy city streets. Suddenly, she is nearly knocked over by a woman that seems to be in a hurry, carrying a large package in one hand, and protecting it while she runs with her other. It is also this side that had bumped hard into Willow. The woman then stops, clearly having been running from being slightly out of breath.

"I'm so sorry! Are you alright?" The woman asks of Willow.

(Willow's response)

"I'm sorry but I can't talk; I was supposed to deliver this half an hour ago, so I have to run!" The woman quickly returns to running, weaving through the crowd and nearly knocking over several other people as well, stopping to apologize and then running again.

Willow resumes walking to her destination. However, at the riverbank she suddenly feels as though something is missing. A single glimpse at her hand tells her exactly what happened. Her ring, the same one she was pondering over earlier, is gone.
