"I agree." Linnix nods toward Aelistae, "There's really no alternative, at least that I can think of."

However, as Linnix looks onward toward the keep, something seems to be amiss about it. Were they so cocky that they didn't feel like setting sentries? No, that just didn't seem right, but, whatever it may be, it wouldn't change the group's course of action. Yet... what if...

Linnix shakes her head firmly. No, don't start with the 'what if's; that will take more time than is available.

"Does anyone else have any ideas?" Linnix asks tentatively, startled by how loud her voice seems in the relative quiet.

"Let's continue heading northward." Linnix suggests, "At least we can hope that the source of the horn earlier heard the one that sounded because of us, and we'll meet up somewhere halfway. After that we can see if we can piece together a plan then, using whatever information we can gain and provide, and if we don't meet up with those others, then we'll just have to do it ourselves, by ourselves."

"At this point there's not much we can do besides go on." Linnix murmurs, mostly to herself.

Subject: Elsewhere, and Here

In the moonlit alleyway stands a little girl with long, silvery hair. She wears a diaphanous blue gown, and held between her two hands is a circular mirror, facing in front of her. Her eyes are closed as she breathes deeply.

"She was here. The reflections remember a magic being used." The girl murmurs, as she opens her eyes. Unlike human eyes, which have pupils, this girl's eyes have no pupils, but have solid silver irises that appear almost like reflecting pools, reflecting everything she sees before her. "A Sylph's magic."

"So do the shadows." A whisper in the air responds, seemingly coming from a nearby shadow.

The girl smiles, "We've found her trail. By the way, what is
he up to?"

"What we expected: as soon as he heard about an impending war he immediately started planning to, as he put it, 'join the party'." the whisper responds, unimpressed, "The fact that there's a rumour about a sylph involved only further gave him an excuse to go."

The girl giggles, "There's only one sylph in this world, and she wouldn't get involved with that. He is bizarre sometimes, but he does his job well."

"Are you two still just chatting? We have a job to do." A loud, gruff voice calls over, causing a couple of nearby houses to light up slightly as the occupants wearily light lanterns to see what the commotion is about.

"We were just leaving." The girl responds, "Shadow and I have decided to continue after the first sylph."

"Heh, suit yourself. Although, I have to admit you two might not let me have so much fun if you tagged along." The man responds, walking up. He easily towers over her, standing at a tall 6'7", wearing a dull red breastplate among more battle-worn and barely protective leggings and chain. His most distinctive feature, however, is easily his eyes. They are completely red, with a dull glow to them that only intensifies as he thinks about the war. He grins malevolently, with his short red hair messily making the gesture more grotesque, "I think I'll make a head start to it."

Turning around and rolling her eyes, the girl responds, "Whatever. Give Shadow and I one minute to leave the town at least."

"Of course; it might give a chance for the city guard to show up as well. That always adds a bit more flare to it." The man laughs.

"Shadow, let's go." The girl says stiffly, walking into a nearby shadow.

The shadow seems to intensify in darkness, shrouding everything within it, before returning to normal, except without the girl that was within it.

"Heh, she doesn't know what she's missing." The man says manically.

"You there! Some people are trying to sleep around here." A guard says running up, "I can hear your voice from my post at the end of the street."

"Good; I meant it to." The man returns, rushing toward the guard.

Taken aback by such a reckless manoeuvre, the guard quickly realizes this is no time to be hesitant with weaponry, and brings his sword to bare, slicing deeply into the man's unprotected arm. However, instead of grunting in pain and stopping, the man grins and continues forward, blood seeping from his wound.

"Good! However, you'll have to do far more than that to stop me!" He bellows, bringing his hand upward.

With a sickening sound, a blade of bizarre redness, seemingly a mix between dried blood and a glowing, red substance, forms forth from the knuckles, seemingly from the man's blood. The guard slashes across the man's breastplate, his eyes widening as this man towers over him, inhuman. The man's eyes glowing ablaze, he brings his fist forth and seemingly punches the man in the chest, however, the blade at the front of the fist tears through the guard's armour, and likewise punctures straight through his heart. The guard's limp body crumbles to the ground as more guards quickly arrive to the scene.

The man raises his single blade into the air, and an aura of red engulfs him and his blade.

"Darkside has come to town!" He bellows as he swings horizontally across with the blade.

A chaotic, twisting and explosive wave of red spreads like a shockwave from the arc, easily shredding anything in its path, whether it is buildings or people or animals. At the same time, Darkside forms another blade from his other hand, and smashes the other half of the town.

"I wonder when Sen'll realize I'll just do this to everywhere she's been until we get her." Darkside murmurs amidst the carnage.

"Well then... I have a war to massacre." Darkside murmurs, as he lazily walks toward his destination; the location of the war-to-be.

"I hope he doesn't do anything rash or drastic." Sen murmurs as she walks up to the place, hoping to be able to support Erihsehc as best she can.

Walking into the room where Erihsehc sits, the brief encounter before where he seemed to be in a similar position flashes through Sen's mind.

"Are you alright?" She asks carefully of the man.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I know Ocyari will be needing sleep soon.

I know we're not supposed to split up, but in this situation, would it be viable for the needing members of the group (namely Ocyari and probably one other who's going to make sure she gets to bed as well as get some sleep themselves) disappear for the remainder of the night to find and get accommodations for the night while those who choose to continue despite fatigue have the chance to do so?

I imagine that'd be the course of action that'd be hinted toward, with the main idea of getting the actual delivery done and out of the way (maybe so the parcel doesn't run away or do something weird while we're sleeping...), which doesn't require everyone being present, then sleep for those who are not already sleeping, and then listen to the information being provided by Mr. Stuart the next day...

That seems to be what's going through my mind right now anyway... so, what do you think?

To spread one's wings and to take off in flight,
It truly doesn't matter whether it's day or night.
To soar in the air, above the world and free,
It truly doesn't matter what things choose to be.

Above the world, part of it yet not,
From here it is easy to see what is sought.
Choose for oneself, which direction to take,
The future is one's own to find and make.

Sometimes one falls, to hit the ground below,
It is natural, for through falls one will grow.
Just take a leap to get back in the air,
Soar even if life doesn't seem fair.

In the air, the horizon is just that much more,
Whether it is day or night, it is another door,
The boundary between here and there,
And it is easiest to reach by air.

Hold the key to the door within one's hand,
If you know where it is, time runs out of sand.
The key to the boundary to be neither in day or night,
Fly to the beauty of the true twilight.

As everyone makes their way back to the table, Ocyari stifles a yawn. Ugh, she was too used to her stupid curfew! She shakes her head, trying to clear it of that misty, thick fog that is sleepiness. She absently bumps into Miran once on the way back to the table, but is fine other than that.

Seeing how it seems people are moving on rather than staying here (which Ocyari couldn't blame them for, with how boring it is here), Ocyari quickly follows.

"Don't forget me!" She says as she follows the other, seemingly hasty, members of the group.

Subject: Fading into Darkness

Riding through enemy territory, apprehension grabs Linnix about the shoulders, its cold claws sinking into her skin. She had to be wary; she had to be able to tell where the enemy was. However, as the ride went on, Linnix could only look on in dismay.

Shapes in the distance, previously a bland grey to her eyes, began to be shrouded in a mist, obscuring their forms. The mist grows thicker and darker, like a blanket of fog that removes all sight. Except it isn't fog; it's darkness.

As the last traces of her vision disappear, Linnix sighs. Once, she used to be afraid of the dark, when she was very little. Over time she had adapted to it as she grew, before being forced to with her chosen 'occupation'. Still, when she was able to see through it, perhaps that gave her a different view of darkness. Sometimes it is something through which things hide, but if one can see through it, everything looks a lot more similar. Perhaps it's the shades of grey that everything appears as, but Caera's words rung with a hint of truth.

In the rays of the moon, uncoloured by the sun, everyone is equal, if not the same.

* * *

The torches along the side snap Linnix out of her reminisce, and while she glares at them as though she could once again see through the darkness, they go out. The implication is immediately realized by Linnix, and she pulls out her bow after bringing Tock to a stop.

When Aelistae's lights provide luminescence to the immediate area, Linnix raises her bow.

Perhaps we are the same, but I cannot let you hurt my friends. Linnix resolves, your aggression will be returned swiftly.

She fires at the closest gob/gnoll to her.

Subject: Regarding the items from the armoury

If you'd like to have the technical term, you are effectively requisitioning the equipment from the Council, which means that you pay nothing for them, and are effectively borrowing them.

There would not be a magical staff in the armoury, as that is a far more potent item that would have to be asked for directly. (with only a something-percent chance of one actually being available)

Ammunition of course is quite available, so feel free to choose bolts for yourself. (with a maximum of 30 units of ammunition for each player)

And I wouldn't worry about your squad Sib; Dev might make comic relief now and then with things he'll do, but when things get serious, he'll be a fairly strong ally. Likewise with the rest of the group (with the exception of Mist, who's always serious).

"Hey! Why don't they have any Holy Katars?!" Dev shouts in frustration, which is the only thing heard before a massive clang of multiple pieces of weaponry and armour hitting the floor rings throughout the citadel.

"Whoops, my bad." Dev's voice can be heard as a slight cloud of dust is blown out of the armoury by the commotion.

"Ugh, when will you ever take care and take things seriously?" Mist's voice is heard in exasperation.

"Maybe when you stop being such a stick-in-the-mud, Mist, or maybe when I'm not bored." Dev's voice can be heard responding.

Yin rolls his eyes, a motion easily spotted by Willow, Armand and Denuan.

"I'd better check on them." Yin mutters aloud before wandering over to the armoury himself.

Sora and Farah can both be seen glancing into the armoury, although definitely looking as though they don't want to get involved.

"Well, that was mildly interesting." Sora says aloud.

"I hope it doesn't take too long to clean up." Farah murmurs.

"They do have magic at their disposal riiight?" Sora replies, "So it should be easy."

"Sora, Farah!" Yin calls from right behind them.

"Hey! Don't sneak up on me like that!" Sora says, jumping in spite of himself, swiftly turning around, and knocking Farah into the armoury as a result.

"Whoa!" She calls, and there is another cacophonous array of more metallic noise.

"Is that a Holy Katar?" Dev's voice can be heard after the commotion.

Giving a loud sigh, Yin calls into the armoury, "Alright, I want you four to make this room as tidy as it was before any of you went in. Yes, that includes all of you, Mist, Dev, Farah and Sora."

After a bit of groaning, the sounds of racks being lifted back into place and weapons and armour being placed back echo out into the citadel. Previously unnoticed, there is the sound of a door to the right closing as a couple pairs of footsteps echo in the hall.

"Is this it?" A slightly gruff voice is heard.

"You've forgotten already, Akihiko?" Snaps the voice of an influential-sounding woman.

"Sheesh, you're not in a good mood today, Mitsuru." The first voice responds.

Quickly reaching the others already there, and standing in approximately the same spot as the centre two members of the Council were, the woman, evidently named Mitsuru, immediately introduces the two of them. She has long, dark red hair which falls over one eye, leaving the other, her left, in view. She is dressed almost as though she is at the same level of influence as the Council, with well fashioned yet functional and practical clothing and at her side is an elegant rapier. Beside her stands a man who is dressed casually, compared to Mitsuru; he wears a simple garment of one who is used to travel, and carries his jacket held over his shoulder by his right hand. He has short, grey hair and what seems to be a bandage above his right eye. In his left hand he carried a pair of spiked gauntlets, and is apparently a close-combat person.

"I am Mitsuru Kirijo, and this is Akihiko Senada. As you likely guessed, we are here to aid in this quest." Mitsuru says formally.

"Hey." Akihiko says casually in greeting.

"My actual purpose here will be partly to oversee this operation." Mitsuru continues, "Not as a commander of course, however, I will suggest you heed my advice; I am skilled at providing tactical information, and is thus why I was commissioned by the Council."

"If you're wondering why I'm here, I'm here because it seems like good training." Akihiko says, shrugging.

Mitsuru rolls her eyes, "As I have told you before Akihiko, this isn't a game."

"Yeah, I know." Akihiko replies, "You don't need to remind me."

There is a loud clang as the front gate opens briefly, and turning, everyone sees a person dressed in black, with a black hood obscuring their face, step into the hall. In their right hand is held a beautiful yet apparently dangerous scythe which seems to have a dull blue sheen to its metallic appearance. They step carefully, yet the noise of their footsteps radiates coldly in the hall. They are unhesitant as they approach the group, each step taken with care, yet each step deliberate.

Two sides as one, swaying back and forth,
And add another two to make it south to north.
It will sway from one side to the next,
It does not favour one, even if it is hexed.

A pendulum of feeling, devoid of time and space,
It weighs and measures, at no known pace.
The measurement of change that makes life chime,
As the plight goes on heedless of time.

If one side ends, so to do the rest,
It isn't so simple that one side is the best.
Favoured or not, the balance will always sway,
And is how it's supposed to be, even beyond today.

Finding an unoccupied room in the vessel, Kate decides now is as good a time as ever to replace the spent medical arm. She quickly runs the replacement program, bringing out a second arm from an internal storage compartment and attaching it to the port where the first one was (the first is detached in the process, of course).

((Replace part repair check DC 15 taking 10 => automatic success))

Kate places the old, spent arm into the now vacant compartment, seeing as how the only thing it needs to be able to be reused is replacement medicine, which is easier to do than to make a completely new arm.

"Fake?" Sen repeats, feeling a bit relieved, "Well, that's good to hear; I was getting worried that I'd have to get involved with that, which would further pinpoint my location."

"I'm not sure what they'd do exactly." Sen continues, "And yes, you've guessed correctly; they're just after Sylphs in general. I just happen to be one that's managed to evade them so far. You're going to have to give me a bit more detail however with how exactly you're faking the presence of another sylph. While Darkside might go out of his way to pursue a rumour, especially if he can cause much destruction, Shadow and the Collector are far more subtle, and won't easily pursue vague leads. If I had to guess with what I currently know, they'd likely split up, with Shadow and the Collector continuing their pursuit of me, while Darkside gets involved with that possible war to serve as a very large distraction at the very least, if not get to the possible second sylph as well. He won't pick sides in that war; he'll annihilate whichever is in his way first, or both if he's in the mood for it."

"Well, it's best if we get moving; Shadow will likely come here to investigate." Sen says, standing up and motioning for Arturo to lead the way.

It felt a bit awkward, with her walking rather than flying. It wasn't to say she hasn't before, but it was just a transition that takes a bit of time for one to get used to. Thankfully, along the journey, she only really stumbled a few times, and so the transition was faster than if she had kept stumbling.

-The NPC soldiers of Willow's group: Dev, Mist, Sora, and Farah
-A priestess wearing a dark hood with a scythe slung over her back
-Yin Chang
-Akihiko Sanada
-Mitsuru Kirijo

I think that should be enough... and I realize that only Mist, Xira, and Yin Chang are 'original', but these are minor characters, so I don't want to spend too much effort on them, especially if they die ^_^

Iskanna bites her lip. Alright, time to reveal the crossbow person. She holds out her left hand in front of her, directed toward the spot where Toby had said previously the other was sleeping, before weaving it in the air in a flowing, wavelike pattern which is then spun into a circle.

"Aao vijgn yhou ghv goh!" She proclaims, and upon the pronunciation, four orbs of light appear there, where the sentry ought to be, spread out to cover as much area as possible, before moving slowly to search for the enemy.
