Topic: .Hack//LIFE Subject: When planning for the future, look to the past.
"You seem a bit surprised that to Kiku, your hand has texture." Rei says carefully, "Well, it would be surprising, if one didn't know the original purpose of 'The World', but that's not something that should be talked about right now. It's a different topic."
"As for mending Kiku's situation..." Gho interjects, "Well, this isn't the first time in the history of 'The World' that this has happened. Most of the known incidents occurred in R:1, or so it says in Carminia Gadelica's archives, of where the player fell into a coma while playing the game. Unfortunately, the only other case similar to Kiku's particular situation, where the player's consciousness entered the game, had entirely different circumstances, and so we can't base much on it."
"However, if we look at the coma cases as a whole, one similarity is held between all of them." Rei adds, "In each case, in order to heal the victims, something has to be done regarding the entity that put them in a coma in the first place. In other words, the only one who knows exactly how to get Kiku back to reality is Maera, the one who effectively 'locked her in' in the first place."
"Of course, I doubt she'd tell us if we merely asked her." Gho adds bitterly.
"Aww, not again!" Kiku suddenly blurts.
"Another email or shortmail?" Rei asks quickly.
"Yeah, Maera sent the same email again." Kiku nods, and then, turning towards Kusardo, adds, "She's been emailing me every hour on the hour for the past day, asking me to meet her at an area."
"We all decided it was not a good idea for Kiku to go." Gho says firmly, "But Maera's persistence is incredible... every hour on the hour... unless she's using some sort of program to spam the message for her, that suggests that she is online 24 hours a day, which is exactly what the access records show."
"In other words, there is a good possibility that Maera either is in the same situation as Kiku herself, or might not even be human." Rei adds, "Which further complicates things; if Maera is an Artificially Intelligent Player Character, as things seem to indicate, there's no telling what she is capable of."
"Either way, we don't have enough information as it is." Gho concludes, "So the next step is going to be searching the archives. Rei and I are going to do some digging tomorrow, and how did you do that?!"
Rei smiles sheepishly, "Well, looks like I win the go game."
Shaking his head, Gho sighs, "I can't believe you're still better at go than I am. Anyway, that's what we intend to do. We called you here to give you an update of how Kiku is doing; you don't have to help us. Actually, it might be better if you don't, at least initially; the archives aren't the easiest place to be."
"Oh, one more thing, both of you: I suggest avoiding Saturday. It isn't that big of a deal right now, but doubtless, she'll notice the Kiku's irregularity in the access logs and begin to wonder. Saturday is a system administrator." Rei adds, "Well, do either of you have any questions before Gho and I call it a night?"

Topic: Filthy Thief Q/A Subject: That's good...
I was a bit worried, because I thought that perhaps it would merely seem like I was just avoiding dealing with the situation, leaving it to the others to handle (partially at least).
But it is in character, so that's why I went with it ^_^

Topic: .Hack//LIFE Subject: Texture of the Swordmaster's Hands
Kiku closes her eyes, her smaller, paw-like hands feeling the hand Kusardo extends.
"Warm, yet rough, kind of like my brother's after a year of metal-working classes. You should use lotion. I told my brother too, but he didn't listen..."
Kiku's eyes snap open and she smiles sheepishly, "Sorry, I forgot... I don't think there is a lotion item in 'the World', is there?"
Gho and Rei, in the meantime, seem to be whispering among themselves.
"I wish I had made a human character... having a tail is very, very awkward." Kiku suddenly says, shifting her position slightly, "I'm having difficulty getting used to it."
Rei Lightning winces, "Yeah, I can imagine. I can't really help, but I suggest just relaxing. I presume you do have a cat, so, try to consider how they hold their tails."
Kiku frowns, "But they aren't bipedal."
Rei averts her eyes, "True. I didn't consider that."
"Hopefully I'll get used to it by tomorrow..." Kiku murmurs, her ears twitching in slight annoyance.

Topic: You Filthy Little Thief!!! Subject: Dizzy... Dizzy...
Ocyari's breathing quickens just slightly, and her head feels as though everything is underwater. Or is the latter the result of the weariness catching up to her? Ocyari's hands grasp the pendant, and with a clatter her bow falls to the ground. She had no idea.
"N-No way..." Ocyari stutters, shaking her head.
It couldn't be real. This sort of thing just didn't happen. A thing of stories, surely?
"It's... not possible..."
But, she isn't asleep. This really is happening. There is no explanation, it just is.
"It... is..."
Ocyari slumps to the ground, weariness and shock working together to overwhelm the little girl. In short, Ocyari faints.
((I really couldn't think of anything else, and it seems fitting I think, since she IS still just a little child after all ))

Topic: .Hack//LIFE Subject: Perhaps, Perhaps Not
"Argh!" Kimono suddenly growls, "Why now?" her voice can be heard as she talks to someone else at her end of the line, "Fine. Sorry guys... I've... been grounded."
Kiku gives a small chuckle, her frame shivering with a bit of restrained laughter, "Sorry," Kiku murmurs, "It just sounds a bit funny... well, to me anyway. I know it isn't, but I can't help it."
"Anyway, I'll see you all later, OK! Don't wait up for me; I don't know when I'll be back!" Kimono says quickly, before logging out, with blue rings forming about her character, before it fades to nothingness.
"That was... logging out right?" Kiku asks, slightly hesitantly.
"And you're still unable to?" Rei Lightning asks carefully.
Dully, Kiku nods, stands, and the blue rings form around her, but with the exception that after the rings fade, Kiku is still there.
"Looks like we were right..." Gho Lightning says, walking into the room from around a corner.
Both Gho and Rei then turn to Kusardo, their eyes seemingly looking past the character and viewing the soul of the player.
"You see, Kusardo, since Kiku was Data Drained, her character's data volume has increased substantially. It is now larger than even a typical field's data volume." Gho begins, "And you've probably noticed yourself, but many of Kiku's character movements and graphics are far more advanced than what CC Corp programmed into the characters."
"This, combined with the fact that she cannot log out, leads us to believe that Kiku now exists in 'The World'." Rei adds onto Gho's technical side, "That is to say, her consciousness now resides within her character."
Kiku sits down and looks away, her hands fidgeting nervously.
"Therefore, it is safe to conclude," Rei finishes, "That Kiku's body on the 'outside' is now in a coma, and that Kiku here can feel pain, and maybe even experience death."
Finished, Gho and Rei stand with their arms crossed, mirroring each other, watching Kusardo carefully for his reaction.

Topic: Star Wars: The Outer Rim Subject: Grr, where's that Basic speech capability when you want it?
“Um… Kate… I wanted to say thank you. If it wasn’t for you I’m certain I’d be dead right now. I owe you a great deal and so does my kin.” She then bowed formally to the droid, and even with the bundle of ruined clothes in her arms, the ridiculous mechanic’s jump suit, not to mention the surroundings she still looked almost regal with her movements and demeanor.
In response, Kate wheels around to face Lelain. The electric arc arm is quickly set aside, and Kate's dome moves forwards and backwards, pivoting at her two 'legs'; the astromech droid's nod. Unfortunately, it would have to do, for she couldn't yet configure basic into her vocabulator. In spite of the lack of vocal speech, Kate did look proud, just in her little stance. Whoever said only medical droids could heal?
Slowly she rose again, and looked over the ship. The conversation drastically switched to something else. That was Lelain, she said thank you, she meant it and now it was time to get to the task at hand. “So how does she fare? Will we be able to depart soon?”
Yes, with the minor thermal increase to the hull that occurred during the takeoff, as well as slight collateral damage to the rear of the vessel, it will be ready to go in 15 minutes... Kate beeps in binary, while twisting her dome from side to side; the astromech droid's shake of head 'no' response. Kate did have a sense of sarcasm, it's too bad she couldn't share it though...
Kate turns toward the ship's hull, and projects a holographic, three dimensional calendar upon it, highlighting 'today' and the 'expected date of repair completion', which is in eleven days.

Topic: The Day They Woke Up on the Wrong Side of Reality Subject: ...
Galen snorts in disbelief. It made sense, for just because it is a different world, this does not entail that there is greater understanding.
"Let's go." Galen says to the others, turning to leave, with the shivering fear within his heart consumed by a spark of her anger and discontent.
"I know what you are referring to," Galen finds himself speaking, directed towards the wraith, "but you should know there are many types of existences that can be considered by those who have them curses. Just as there are many different burdens that can weigh upon a soul."
Regardless if any of the others move at that point, Galen moves in the way that is most logical to presume: as the wraith appeared with them heading towards the shadow in the mist, that implied that shadow is the 'haunt' the wraith spoke of, and so the direction opposite the shadow is where the exit lies. Considering that it was indeed a temple they came out of, there is also a good chance there is a path leading to or from it, which is what he'll follow.

Topic: You Filthy Little Thief!!! Subject: Maybe a bit of a hunch...
"Huh?"
Ocyari blinks, the words finally sinking in, despite how incredulous it seems. Was it true? Well, she didn't know... it very well could be, but how? It makes little sense...
"I have... no idea what's going on." Ocyari says carefully, her head tilted and her bow held loosely.
It was too much... thoughts wishing to be spoken conflict with each other in her mind, varying from 'Are you serious?' to 'That's impossible'. Ocyari's mouth opens and closes several times, considering what to say.
"Umm... did I fall asleep?" She finally asks.

Linnix's heart nearly stops as arrows thud by Aelistae's head. Turning quickly, she looks for the source of those two arrows. Of course... they make the keep seem strangely unguarded while they set up archers outside of it to get people in the cross-fire. Linnix thinks, I have to stop them. Linnix draws her bow, taking careful aim, and fires at the archer in the distance.

Topic: The Sharpeness of Smoke Subject: Returning from Practise
Janelle's eyes nervously glance at the large clock in the fencing hall. 8:30pm. She had less than 5 minutes to finish this last round, and then it'd be quite the run to her appartment...
That's too bad; there is no time to play with her self-appointed rival.
"Rosetta! Are you paying attention?" The other fencer calls through his mask as he thrusts forward.
Janelle smiles; too rash. Barely sidestepping to the left, she flips her foil up and parries the thrust. In less than a blink of an eye, Janelle counters, bringing her foil forward in a feint. Falling for it, the other one sidesteps and brings their foil over to defend as Janelle lowers her blade in a semi-circle, avoiding their foil, bringing it up to where they sidestepped to. With a final thrust, the point is scored.
"Do you mind if we end it there, Ken?" Janelle asks.
Turning to look at the clock, Ken shakes his head, "You're so weird, Rosetta. I guess so, but you owe me another couple of rounds next time."
"Sure." Janelle replies, already done taking off her mask and rushing to put her gear away.
With the padding put away into her duffel bag, Janelle wears a slightly formal attire consisting of a dress pant, shirt, and a pretty shawl with a flower design. Her long black hair is braided down her back, and at the bottom is a band that appears to be a ring of roses. With a fluid motion, she takes the protector off of the tip of her fencing foil and sheathes it at her hip.
"I still can't believe you wear that to practise." Ken murmurs, "You're more formal than our team manager, and that's just odd."
"I'll see you next practise, Ken." Janelle says firmly.
"Alright, later!"
* * *
As though she were running from a forest fire, Janelle rushes down the street, doing her best not to run into anyone. She steals a glance at her digital wristwatch as she runs. 8:36. Only 6 minutes to go, and there was almost always someone nearby with those watches... A shortcut is the only option.
She preferred not to cut through Lincoln Park, since that almost always made her want to pull out her sketchbook, but tonight she would have to make an exception. Running through the park, she barely looks left or right, focused on getting home in time. Finally, she reaches the apartment building, and dashes up the stairs rather than taking the elevator; the elevator would take too long. Reaching her room, keys already in hand, she quickly opens the door, enters, and shuts the door.
Janelle looks at her watch. 8:41. She just made it. Her heart pounding, Janelle puts her equipment away, with one hand feeling the perspiration around her forehead. Time for a shower...

A Crystal Healer is a person who uses the innate power within gemstones and different crystals to heal other people. It would fall under 'unconventional medicine' I believe.

Janelle isn't adventuring with the others at this point in time, which is only just the beginning; she doesn't know any of the other characters, and if that was a requirement you didn't specify so beforehand.
... Well, I suppose if it comes down to it, she can be invited by Eol's character after 'discovering' her at some point in his background story... does that work for everyone?

Topic: Witchcraft rpg Subject: Unlikelihood
There's an easy reason why Janelle would be in LA: one of her teams (gymnastics or fencing) is involved in a tournament in that city.
However, I'm not sure Janelle would be in that 'night club' at all; she prefers to avoid drawing attention to herself on the supernatural side, and if it is specifically reserved for people with supernatural capabilities, that would imply an acceptance of that part of her, which isn't there initially. Not to mention it doesn't fit her character; she doesn't drink, and she wouldn't be interested in that type of environment.

Even before the ship makes it to the hangar, Kate quickly diagnoses the damage to the ship thus far, and afterwards runs a thorough diagnostics of the ship's components and hull. Even if time isn't of the essence, it is surely worth starting on the repairs as soon as possible.
Immediately after covering diagnostics of even the most minute problem, Kate quickly divides the other droids to work on separate tasks in the repairs, organizing them into efficient groups to ensure the quickest recovery of the ship possible. With the groups formed, Kate also gets to work as well, aiding wherever seems to require the most aid in the repairs.

It was a possibility to me; when does Tersoal disappear? Before or after the identification? And is the sword lost as well?
So, trust the d20 and I rolled.
1-5 would have been no identification, lose sword
6-10 would have been no identification, keep sword
11-15 would have been identification, lose sword
16-20 would have been identification, keep sword
I got 13, and so there you go...
But... if there's a chance to lose things, there's likewise a chance to recover things...

Topic: Witchcraft rpg Subject: Well
'Rosetta' is a strong gymnast and fencer, so melee combat is her forte so long as she has either her rapier or fencing foil. She is also good at drawing, and most notably has a Weird Delusion that is... well, bizarre.
Supernaturally, her strength lies in healing, and only healing (which is therefore quite strong because it isn't spread out among other abilities), but it'll take a while before she learns to accept that ability as part of her... or not... it's hard to say, depending on what circumstances occur.
Archetype kind of follows a fusion of the Weird One and Reluctant Hero types.

Topic: Auguries of Destruction - The Linsemptus Subject: Disturbance
"I am not a guide." The dark clothed woman responds coldly, her barren tone sending a chill through the air as she sets her hood back. "My name is Xira."
"Setting the interruption aside," Mitsuru continues, "The enemies we will be facing are being called Linsemptus by the Scout, so that is the term I will use to refer to them by. I think that is all for now; we will simply wait a little longer for the Scout..."
A brief moment later, with the exchange of a pearl and a drink, Tersoal deduces the hidden quality of the old sword. Holding the blade before him, he reveals what he knows.
"Once each day, this sword can be used for a strong offencive strike. First, one uses the tip of the blade and draws a circle around themself or, in our case, around the party. Then, the wielder stabs the centre of the circle they just made and call the activation phrase. Outside of that circle will be a release of energy that reaches outward 15ft. What type of energy is decided by the phrase. Also, if the situation is dire, the phrase can be spoken and the sword plunged into the ground without drawing a protective circle, but there will be no protection from the blast. The energy needed to do this will make the sword innate for the rest of the day."
Words:
Random - Wave of Drop
Fire - Vulcan
Earth (equal parts bludgeoning/piercing/slashing) - Yarthkins
Electricity - Lanceor
Acid - Wryneck
Cold - Merrows
Sonic - Krake
((It takes one move action to draw the circle around oneself, more than that will require more movement; activation is a standard action))
However, no later than the weapon's ability is revealed, there is a magnified sound akin to that of glass shattering. Vision is distorted, with cracks seemingly through thin air visible to all, unmoving and relentless. Tersoal recoils from the crack in front of him, but trips and falls through one behind him, the sword flying through the air and disappearing through yet another. Yet, just as suddenly as it happened, it is gone, and everything returns to normal... with the exception of the now missing sword and Tersoal.
"Well, that certainly was interesting." Akihiko says coolly, despite his body being tensed and ready for combat, with his hands balled into fists and held professionally in front of him.
A voice, sounding almost like that of a young woman or older girl, is heard: "The deterioration seems to be much more erratic than I would have hoped."
The voice does not seem to come from any direction, except perhaps up, and looking up, nothing can be seen.

Topic: You Filthy Little Thief!!! Subject: Heh, what? Want me to steal your cookie too?
It felt familiar, the way the person had grabbed Ocyari's shoulder. Kind of like the other times when Ocyari was barely caught snatching a cookie, and there's always someone to try to grab her from behind. Heh, they didn't know who they were dealing with. Still, at least the action made Ocyari feel wide awake now, alert and ready as a bit of adrenaline flows through her body.
"Princess?" Ocyari scoffs, "Yeah right, of what kingdom?"
Ocyari is smart enough to know she won't break the grip with strength, especially considering her relatively small stature, but that doesn't mean she didn't know what to do. Ocyari seems to run forward, and she grabs underneath the offending arm for a bit more leverage. Of course, with the hand this causes her to begin to flip, which is exactly what she intended. She brings one leg in as she does so, the other held outward to likely kick the man in either the head or shoulder. At the impact, Ocyari lets go of the arm, and kicks out with the other leg, catching the man in the chest. If the impulse knocks her out of the hand's grip, she holds out her arms to cushion her fall as she lets herself roll forward into a dive-roll, immediately ending the roll with a leap to a standing position. She steps quickly, trying to put as much distance between the two as possible, all the while bringing her bow out, ready to use.
((Breaking the grapple via escape artist check paired with a move to the centre of the group if possible while drawing her bow ))

Topic: Witchcraft rpg Subject: You are not being very clear
Obviously Mundanes are out of the question, however, you do not address exactly where the boost goes. From your wording, it only goes to the strictly Gifted characters; Lesser Gifted and Bast do not apply. Please clarify.

Topic: Witchcraft rpg Subject: Concerns...
You say you're going to give one type of character an extra amount of points, but how is that supposed to balance with the other types?
I'm sorry if I seem out of line, however, it makes me very uneasy; I can see there being a smaller benefit or boon that you might give, but something like this could very well unhinge game balance...
To better illustrate this effect, consider the following.
The Gifted traits as defined in the book (in terms of points) have:
-15 Attribute Points
-10 Quality Points
-25 Skill Points
-30 Metaphysics Points
Increasing the amount of points available by 15 and distributing them, and comparing the result to the Lesser Gifted type easily results with this:
-20 Attribute Points for both
-25 Quality Points for both
-30 Skill Points for both
-15 Metaphysics Points for the Lesser Gifted, 30 Points for Gifted
That is enough of a change that playing a Lesser Gifted becomes pointless, the Mundane type frowned upon (also due to the need for metaphysics), and the Bast type underpowered compared to the Gifted!
I suggest you either re-evaluate what you are doing, whether it will be to reduce the boon you wish to provide, find a better balance to the game by providing the boost to ALL character types, or eliminate the boost altogether.
