Topic: Auguries of Destruction - The Twin Worlds Subject: Crossroads - Round 4 of Combat
Viis continues his song, a joyous and heartlifting tone to the melancholic and serious combat taking place.
The Linsemptus Scout proves to be far more of an annoyance to the party than a threat, however, clearly this foe is not to be taken lightly, as the group can recall the events that occurred in their dreams, where a member of the group fell to this very type of foe.
Charlet takes a step back, and proceeds to fire a bolt at the Scout from her crossbow. Her aim is true, striking the Linsemptus through the head, but indeed the bolt sails straight through its head harmlessly; without magic within the ammunition, there is no chance of it hitting the Scout.
Ignis now acts, unleashing another volley of energy spikes. She feels a slight strain; she knows she won't be able to keep this up forever. (-9 Linsemptus Scout)
Sable jabs at the Linsemptus, and his palm indeed hits the slightly intangible form, causing it to dissipate slightly as it is struck. (-4 LS) However, Sable's second strike is launched too shallow, for the Linsemptus evades the blow.
Ita fires another shot, however, her aim is severely misplaced, as the arrow thuds in a tree far off to the side, and she grits her teeth at this result.
The Linsemptus seems to flicker as it brings forth its appendage, however, instead of a mere punch, it once again forms the skeletal-like blade with it. Unanticipated, Sable reacts by dodging to the side, however, the grass beneath his feet causes him to slip in the other direction, right back into the Linsemptus Scout's slash. Across Sable's torso a line of white remains from the Linsemptus Scout's attack. The cut is at first painful, but then ignites with even intense agony as something overloads Sable's senses. Sable can hardly bring his body to move even an inch, and there is only immense pain from doing so. His body feels heavy, and fractured, as though it were actually broken rather than merely paralyzed. (-4 hp Sable, and you failed your fort save )

Topic: Forgotten Realms: The Unsung Heroes Subject: To enjoy life's odds and ends - priceless
Linnix smiles, paying the unknown merchant. Friends are priceless, She returns, and it is impossible to determine a value on another's life that can be easily measured.
Perhaps another time, years ago, Linnix wouldn't have bothered with it, keeping the monetary gain to further her own ends, but now... she has changed.
Care for those around you, not just close to you.
Yes, even now, Linnix may not fully understand just what Caera meant, but she is getting there. She just has to keep moving forward.

Topic: Forgotten Realms: The Unsung Heroes Subject: Can it be true?
Linnix raises an eyebrow, slightly shocked.
Finally, she blurts out the seemingly outrageous question, "Are you serious? So, what you're saying is if I wanted say a potion that could bring back the dead, you'd have one?"
The notion seems so absurd to Linnix, and yet, by the confidence exuded by the figure, perhaps there was indeed something... after all, if there was a potion that had the effect (albeit a side one) to change Xaris's physiology, perhaps a life-raising one wouldn't be out of the question. And if this uniquely peculiar merchant indeed has one, what then? Would she get it?
The answer comes quickly, and Linnix knows it in her heart. Yes, she would get it. Even if the path from life to death and then back to life is hard, it would be able to hold firm the threads of connections between people, and what would otherwise be permanent becomes only temporary. Yes, to return someone that was lost would be far better than for others to feel the sorrow of their loss. Loriel, Kas, and now Sheva... the group shouldn't have to feel another loss.

Topic: .Hack//LIFE Subject: A look at the other side
Sara nods, taking Kimono's hand with her own, still-shaking, one.
"I never understood it myself; my classmates just always said it was cool and fun. I... I can hardly even bring myself to approach other players if I even begin to think about PK'ing." Sara says, retrieving and sheathing her pretty blades.
"I can't even bring myself to try to enter the arena yet, even when my classmates say they'll help me."
Sara's character shivers, "I don't play this game to fight." She says, almost sounding like she's just confirming aloud what she already knows.

Topic: .Hack//LIFE Subject: Could've just said no, LOL
Sara quickly jumps back at Kimono's quick reflexive stance, actually dropping one of her flowery blades as she does so.
"I'm sorry! Don't hurt me!" Sara nearly screams, covering her eyes.
Kiku fares no better than Kimono, and laughs in spite of herself, "H-have you actually PK'd anyone before?" she asks.
Peeking between her fingers, and seeing the party not attacking her, Sara slumps to the ground. "No..." She says simply.

Topic: .Hack//LIFE Subject: Another PK... er...
"Umm, excuse me..."
Turning back towards the platform they came from originally, the group sees a female Twin Blade. She has long, pink hair, and red eyes that rather than seem threatening appears actually quite warm and gentle. She wears a pretty blue blouse, a flowery turquoise ankle-length skirt, and leather boots. The two blades she has have hilts that appear to be large flower stems, and the individual blades are like a string of flower petals while the guards are in the shape of leaves.
"Who are you?" Kiku asks.
"I'm Sara." the woman replies, "Umm... I don't suppose... well, you probably won't, but would you mind if I tried... umm..."
Her voice gets softer and softer as though she's afraid to finish, but she finally blurts, "Can I PK you?" her character actually blushing as she asks such an outrageous thing.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Pain and Reflection
Long lost scars, never really gone,
A part of us, and lasting for an eon.
Pain washing away, as time flows true,
And allowing us to do what we need to do.
Gather the tears and the hope inside,
Listening, wanting the truth defied.
Lay it aside and let the mind rest,
And use it now for the deed that is best.
Now gather the droplets, the things to know,
Use it for rebirth, allowing new life to grow.
Use what is now to make better tomorrow,
And ensure that life grows, even in the sorrow.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Doppelganger
Bearing your image and yet not you,
This entity has many things it would like to do.
Hunting you down without any known emotion,
It’s even stronger than you by a large notion.
Then if it’s black aura draws too near,
You’ll have to fight it, even in fear.
But if you succeed, rejoice indeed,
You’re one step closer to something you need.
If you fail, then simply begin anew,
Just remember that fighting it is something to do.
Fight it once and win, then eventually twice,
And you may gain an item that really is nice.
Gaining the Heine’s weapons by chance you may,
And they are powerful weapons to wield any day.
But remember this point above all,
Doppelgangers will respond to any call,
And in many fields they will appear,
There is more than one, so they are a force to fear!

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Nobody
Numbness I can not recall ever feeling,
Did I simply fall into the high ceiling?
No, it can't be, for I am on the ground,
But I'm empty; I can't hear my heart pound.
Nothing, I have no emotions at all,
I can't even remember ones I try to recall.
Love, sorrow, happiness or even hate,
They won't come, even if I wait.
How do I get my heart back?
How long ago was it? I lost track.
I only have memories that are vague,
They clutter my mind, not unlike a plague.
I am alone, and anomaly or a mistake,
But could it be I am simply fake?
I am empty, a void so notably.
I am an empty shell, a Nobody!

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Dreams
A glimpse of thoughts unspoken aloud,
Or worlds of fantasy reality disallowed.
Forming visions that inspire what we do and say,
Or catastrophes of terror from which we hide away.
Being a window into sights unknown,
We ever question what we have been shown.
What is the meaning, relevant or not,
To that dream we have just been brought?
Beneath the riddling bluntness, especially of the vivid,
Is there a meaning behind those images livid?
Unknown to us, but is that so?
For dreams come from what we know.
A jumbled mess of fragments of the mind,
Take it apart, and what will you find?
Wishes, desires, and even irrelevant thought,
All this and more, from a memory that is not.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Twilight Flower
A beauty unable to be seen during day or night,
It only ever blooms in the true twilight.
At the time of dusk and at the time of dawn,
Its features so subtle it cannot be drawn.
Wounded by darkness yet pierced by the light,
Its plight goes on, beyond any mortal's sight.
Blossoming briefly for such a short time,
A wondrous image causing even life to chime.
Such a pretty flower with such a short life,
Only in twilight is it beyond this strife.
Hidden to us who dwell only in day or night,
This everlasting flower only appears at twilight.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Afterlife of Ideas
Fading away into the quiet night,
It disappears from our inquiring sight.
Farewell sweet idea, a thought only told,
Only to linger in our minds, for others to unfold.
Gathering in the void with other ideas unknown,
A true source for beginnings, if any of it is shown.
But they're gone now, so we can only sigh,
And remember ones we know, for something else to try.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: From Imagination to Story
Pictures, Spirals and worlds beyond belief,
And we can only catch a glimpse in our relief.
We take a shot, of which we can work,
But the rest could slip away, an idea which will lurk.
Now, quick! Write that thought down!
Later we'll decide whether to smile or to frown.
There it is! The world of which you sought.
Now write it down before giving it any single thought.
When we're done, and have our ideas on paper,
It may only look like a collage, but it's something we'll taper.
Work with your ideas and create a rough draft,
But don't edit as you go, for you may lose your raft.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Gemstone
Within its many faces you can see,
A whole different world that cannot be.
It tempts every soul with its form,
Of course, not if it was as its norm.
It fondles light gently, pointing it back and forth,
It shines brightly, not unlike the true north.
It is often paired with shiny metal as well,
But what it sees, it never will tell.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Augury of the Truth
Fire, Water, Wind and Earth,
Found even in the darkest hearth.
Lightning, Shadow, Darkness and Light,
All come together to form the plight.
Ice, Wood, Shield and Sword,
All things come of their own accord.
Beginning, End, Time and the Endless,
Even immortals are still restless.
Past, Future, Wave and the Fight,
Forces found even in the darkest night.
Twilight, Destiny and even Destruction,
All leave messages in their instruction.
The Truth, at last, beyond all others' reach,
Despite all those who would attempt to leech.
Hidden, deep beyond all other force,
To find we must leave behind our own remorse.
The Truth exists, perhaps even to those who doubt,
But no one is able to tell what it is about.
Even the Void, in its own emptiness,
Conceals the Truth behind all fruitfulness.
No one can know, but all will guess,
For it is our nature to find and impress.
Found everywhere, yet nowhere at all,
It draws us on, and we heed the call.
To what end is our hidden plight?
We should know, for it is our right.
Yet we can only grasp but a simple glance,
As we move forward through life's dance.
Hidden, unknown, everywhere and nowhere,
Could it be something we should beware?

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: The Folly of Conflict
When the Light doth pierce the Dark,
Some of the realms celebrate,
Rejoicing as their force wins with their mark.
But it is not to be their victory; it is not their fate.
Then as the Darkness smothers the Light,
The other realms rejoice.
But as all realms take to their sight,
They fail to see the influence of Anger's voice.
Unbeknownst to all those who fight,
Victory is not without its price.
As loss adds to Anger's might,
Turning their hearts as cold as ice.
Why must people fight?
These conflicts only hasten the end,
For neither will win; not Darkness or Light,
And the results will be impossible to mend.
In the end, Light and Darkness have equal might,
So in their folly, in their rage,
They will destroy each other, and the entire site,
Ending all things; nothing will be left to age.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: The Fake Real
I close my eyes, opening my eyes.
I become deaf only to hear something new.
I lose sense of touch, feeling the grass in the sighs,
The ooo's and ahh's of the wind that isn't true.
But if it isn't true, then why is it so real?
I wander around at a gentle pace,
My feet lightly padding along the grass I feel,
As I dance in the field, with complete grace.
Then a low grrr; the thunder behind,
Looking back across the plain, I can see the storm,
And a warning rings clear, in my mind.
The wind whistles faster, and is no longer warm.
I run away, seeking a safe place.
Soon, I come across an old, stone bridge;
The stone is cold under my feet as I cross with a swift pace.
But I can still hear the rain beyond the ridge.
I come to a stone cathedral; such a good find.
The organ within is playing its soothing sensation,
As I enter, the stone door closing behind,
I see I am alone; the hall is in simple stagnation.
I approach the alter at the end of the hall,
And here I lie, listening to the simple tune:
The sound of the organ's continuous call.
Here I lie, oblivious to all in the noon.
My eyes close, showing me what is in front.
The sound fades, as I hear my name being called.
the feeling of the stone disappears with a simple punt.
I wondered which feeling was real as I stalled.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Crystalline Hearts
Stone hearts hidden within us,
True only to the one who is thus.
Sometimes beautiful, even regal,
But some cracked or simply feeble.
Changing as we do, growing evermore,
As unique as us; they are our core.
Reflecting our souls unto ourselves,
Yet hidden in our dusty shelves.
Then, it is what we have to find,
Despite all the blocks of the mind;
For without, the soul is hollow,
Especially without something to follow.
But with the heart, all things are clear,
For the soul is whole, and there is nothing to fear.
But perfection is a hope that is vain,
And trying for it will only bring about pain.
Stone
Not so much cold as it is true,
It simply is
No matter what else is due.
Thus are our hearts, they are what they are,
Despite what others would do by far.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: A Mate
A mate is someone who is near,
Someone to love and to hold dear,
Someone to encourage you forever more,
Someone to heal your pain and anything sore,
Someone in which you can confide,
Someone from which you will never have to hide,
Someone who will be your eternal light,
Which will shatter even the darkest night.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Competition
Ever reaching for something beyond our grasp,
Our plight holds longer than an everlasting clasp.
As the target hides, just out of sight,
People continue to aim, despite it becoming night.
Flowers will sway in the unceasing gale,
Aiding the travelers who use a true sail.
One doesn't dare to stop, or fall behind,
And so the strings of fate will ever be entwined.
Waiting now, for the chance to go ahead,
Just be careful, and watch what is said.
Haste without waste isn't possible in the plight,
And one cannot go back once one has entered the light.

Topic: Poetry of Reralae Subject: Poetry of Reralae
Some people have seen, others have not,
My words of life that my mind has wrought.
I am from the night, and I am from the day,
In the middle I stand, unknowing what to say.
Look, but do not touch, these webs of speech,
I only hold them out within an arm's reach.
In time I may even tell the poems deep within my soul,
But for now, you'll have to make do without the whole.

Topic: Welcome or Not! Subject: The power of the twilight...
Sen nods, and within a mere blink, becomes invisible once again. She flies after the group, keeping her distance by staying far above them; there is no point in giving anything away.
In her mind, she runs through the incantation of the spells she'd have to use... it would be tricky, but she remembers... she has done harder spells before.
Still, she was taking a big risk. A spell of this magnitude may alert... them. Sen's heart rate increases as the fear enters her mind. No, she would try anyway, and if they showed up, she'd be the target, so she would have to run.
It seemed, whenever she became involved with another world's destiny and time, they would follow her. They always followed her, and Sen is growing tired of running.

Topic: .Hack//LIFE Subject: A in C major
As Kusardo glances up and down, seeing which path may be more profitable to follow, Kiku once again knocks off three more chim-chims for her to snatch. She takes the spheres from the first two, but actually catches the third one, holding it in her arms as its feet run uselessly on the air below it. The paths seem identical to Kusardo, but perhaps that's because his vision doesn't go too far along the paths before it fades and is incomprehensible.
"Aww, I was wondering if this command worked. A chim-chim would make a good pet." Kiku says, holding her new 'pet'.
In the return back to the center of the room to determine where to go, Kiku finally takes the chim sphere from her chim chim, and it disappears in a puff of smoke.
Kimono in the meantime, kicked the remaining mushroom in the room, and acquired a Healing Drink. However, as the trio reaches the center of the room, it is heard.
Faint, yet strong enough and peculiar enough to stand out of the background music and sound effects, a note is heard. It is almost like a bell tone, with one single strong beat, before fading away into nothing.
"A." Kiku says automatically, "C major, I think."
Kiku suddenly freezes to the spot as her player puts down her controller for a second, and a flute is heard, playing a single note.
"Yep, I was right." Kiku says, her character reanimating as the player returns, "A in C major."
OOC: Well, I could... I think I will if truly needed, but after you post your reaction, I think it'd be easy enough to just wait for Kaelyn to return. I think he should be back soon

Topic: Auguries of Destruction - The Linsemptus Subject: If you live, beware of dying ~_^
Wanqir City
1 minute after Twilight
When Twilight struck, it tolled hard upon even this city, the epicenter of Tiancann. Guards, even though they are among the more elite and best trained, still were at a loss after the initial impact.
It is barely seconds as Dusk is heading to the inn, with the guards still stunned, when suddenly a voice is heard throughout the city, despite sounding from the north gate.
"The Scout has come!"
The guards, before too stunned to do anything, jump into action, comforting civilians and ushering people inside. People do not get ready for the night, however, and as Dusk enters the inn ready to sleep, the innkeeper gives his own advice, even if it is unheeded or unnecessary.
"I'd suggest staying up a while; there's bound to be an announcement at the city center any moment now explaining what has happened." the man says softly.
