"My story I will tell when all who do not know it are together, even Brianna does not know the whole of it, and I believe that there is need for full truths."

She looks back to Devon, "So, you are mage talented and self schooled." she turned the subject from herself. "It will be best if we all share what we can do, tomorrow when we gather we can do that. I have ordered hardboiled eggs, bread, honey, and sausages hot a ready before dawn. We will bring them breakfast."

Lorae then reaches into her pocket and hands him a key, "You are in room 23 and I am accross from you in 22."

"Now let us not waste the food."

After the townspeople leave Tamuril turns to the others.

"I suggest we get the horses back, and check into that book, as it might have information to aid us. Maybe the wizard knew about the tunnel, we were not looking for that information when we first went through the book."

"Then we need to gather supplies and the things we might need for such a jaunt."

Tamuril had a few other thoughts but kept them for now. The historian in her wanted to make sure the book was saved for posterity. Maybe they could copy it and send the original to the monestary. The townspeople could use good coinage, and someone might take it there for a price.

Even though the tunnel beckoned she wondered if they worked hard, could they copy the book in a couple of days, it was the information they wanted not to make an exact copy. Then, too, wizards used there own magic language, there could be hidden information on the pages, she doubted that Isil had uses detect magic to search for magical, invisible to the common eye, information.

As she considers copying the book, an idea comes to mind that would allow two of them to copy at the same time. She and Isil, whom she knew could write, could copy two facing pages at the same time. Then whomever copied the right hand page would give it to the other and the pages of the book flipped, then one would copy the left page on the back of the sheet the other had just finished, while the copier of the right hand pages started to copy on a new paper.

"No, Billy, keep the sword. I would say it was magical and in a way that it turned certain defeat into a rousing victory. We are going to need everything we have and find, to take a near impossible mission and make it into a success."

"I would say the gods had something to do with, and I would not throw away such a "gift"."

Lorae had the serving boy wait for their order, she wanted the food fresh and hot. She had gotten rooms for them both, and alerted the cook she would want some fresh fish, if she had any and beef, or venison, vegetables lightly roasted and not boiled to mush. As soon as Devon appeared throught the dcoor she nodded to the boy who arrived at the table with a pitcher of hot mulled cider, some freshly baked roll, a tub of butter and some cheese.

"Dinner will soon be here," she announced to Devon, as he sat down to the table. The next thing the boy brought was a small buckle of hot water and some towels she Devon and Lorae could wash their hands.

"So, Devon, what did bring you to join us this morning? I caught snatches sof your story throughout the ride, but never got the whole thing all together. It will make the wait for food less wearisome."

Tamuril just pats the boy gently. "We will be going up out o fhere in a moment You just hang of tight to me."

Once pulled above again she passes the boy off to waiting arms and pulls herself out of the well. Untying the rope she looks down to drop it to Isilmiri.

"Tie it on and we will all get you out of there."

Once Isimirii is up. Tamuril turns to her companions. "There is a tunnel near the bottom of the well, leading off somewhere else We will need to check it out, I think."

I like 3 or 3.5 the best, though I do have tweaks, I also play with fatigue, sleep, food, etc. But I also play with the idea of real armor. If you are wearing a chain shirt and you get hit in the leg--too bad no armor there. I have a d100 chart of the body broken up into 100 areas by mass of area, easier to it the upper torso that the heart, etc. Everyone rolls their to hits and a d100 for location. I also have a chart to figure out -mods for a called shot. So the fighters need to fight with their heads, not just with the idea I hit-I miss. A well written description of how a protagonist readies to hit an opponent can garner DM Bonuses to their roll.

Before Pathfinder came out I began giving all classes feats a 1 3 5 7 9 etc and Stat points a 2 4 6 8 etc. Also all characters start with the same number of stat points, and everbody get skills points the same. Seems stupid to not have fighters ge spot a listen. I have a list of everyman skills, and general skills and there are some designated for a specific class. I also give a Background feat to start and 10 points to put into backgrounds skill + a posssible 10 points for a well done, thoughtful background.

Plead as she might she could not get her parents to budge. Why? Her eyes continued to question when her voice ceased.

Finally she stood back from them, tears running down her face, though she did not give into acutually weeping audibly.

For the longest while she just stared between them and Badon, "I...I can't stay, I can't let this happen elsewhere. People need to be warned. Whatever caused this must be stopped."

She was surprised at the conviction in her own voice, she hadn't even concidered playing any sort of part in the aftermath of what happened to Badon. It simply tumbled out in her words, and as she heard herself she knew her words were spoken from her heart.

She turns to go into the house and gather what she could, clothes, necessities, weapons. Her had her own dagger and a bow her mother had given her. Not much in the way of fighting power. She had learned swordsmanship with a wooden sword, Hector and she and some of the boys she had hung out with had chipped in money for lessons for an old sergeant of the army who had retired to Badon. They were sdead now, all dead except Hector. She would avenge them, whoever had caused there horrible deaths would pay.

Tamuril was ready to answer the question about if she had caught him, wondering why he had said that when he commented about Isilimiri being another you.

"Farley, I did not catch you. I climbed down the well. Did someone catch you?"

When he answers that she askes, "Why did you call my friend, another you."

She waits for an answer, and then asks the last question she had....for now. "Why did you say, 'I don't like your home'?"

She suddenly wonders if the boy had seen the old sea Druid around, he was an elf like Isilimiri and though she was not totally elf she had some of the characteristics. It had been the bane of her lilfe, neither human, nor Sylvari. Most Humans considered her exotic, while Sylvari considered her plain. The contours of her face showed both parents characteristics, same with her body.

She pulls her mind back to the problems at hand and waits till Isilmiri declares the boys safe to take you the rope. At the same time she looks down the tunnel.

Alea continued to fire at any available target, Her bow sang its battle song, as she fired off arrow after arrow. She intoned a prayerful song to Corellon to grant her his skill. One day she hoped to be awarded a Moonbow, marking her as worthy of notice by Corellon, the Patron of Elven archers and archery. Today, for now, she had a bow and a quiver of common arrows. As they were told by the one who sommoned them, the fact that they were so low and only equipped with common weapons, did they have a chance to survive. A chance. Their chance now was in the hands of Billy, the two dwarves and herself.

They had to succeed, the future of so many was held by so few and she was one of them, though she had no special part to play, she knew that she was there to back up the others, she was important to the whole and that was enough.

Tamuril stands to help Isilimiri get a firm footing, and then returns her attention to the boy.

"What have you seen down here?" She asked the question in such a way so as not to offer any suppositions on her part. It was something she had learned from the bard whom she had trained with. There were ways to ask questions that would not lead the person answering to be influenced by how the question was asked.

She once thought that being a Bard was everything she wanted, then came the tales of the Heroes and Heroines of the Chakron Portal and that changed everything. The Tales of Lady Elessarae, and her companions including her faithful Moonsteed, Moon Shadow, had sparked her imagination to aspire her to become a Bladesinger and to that end she had joined the group that headed west to the ocean to further her fighting skills. So far there had been little in fighting, and more gathering information.

Rescuing the boy was one of the bright spots of the long trip, not that it would be such an incident for storytellers to tell, but it made her fill good inside because she had been able to lend her aid.

Mora finally gets to their names, "Dad, Mom, this is Ninian," she has to think a bit, "Trillion, Selenine, and Achilles."

She points to each as she speaks. "Oh course you know Hector. Unless anyone ran out and kept running, Hector is the only one survivor of Badon."

"Mom, Dad, you have to leave here. The undead may come this way and there are hundreds of them." Here is a sound of frantic pleading in her words, something she had never felt before this day, but after seeing the figure of townspeople ripping off their clothes, skin, and all other flesh was enought to rattle anyone.

"Dad, you have got to pack up and leave the area, a great arcane disaster has befallen Badon and it has been destroyed. Almost everyone is dead and the dead have been turned into undead. They have ripped off their own skin and flesh and are shambling skeletons."

"Please we have to hurry."

A dainty draconic head of fiery scarlet on a slender neck pokes out and looks about with bright and shiny molten marigold eyes that are very aware of her surroundings.

Two tiny fore feet grip the edge of the knapsack and Precious sort of wiggles her way out to perch on the edge. Unfurling her wings she lifts off from the pack and flies gracefully up to Alexandria's shoulder where she settles down lightly, her long tail hooking around the drow priestess's neck for added security.

"I sssslept, I feel better," she states quite clearly in common despite her sibilant slur. "but I am hungry."

"Food? Flame told me you have good food."

"I have him and he is alive, but injured." She shouts back up to the others, "I thinks he may have some cracked or broken ribs as his breathing is labored. I will try my Cure Light Wounds on him and if that does not clear up his breathing I will need Isiliwen to come down and do a higher level healing. We may also need a stretcher to haul him up on."

Tamuril begins to recite the spell and when the feeling of magical energy fills her she releases the spell on the boy. She then waits to see if he is better, or if Isiliwen's skills are needed.

"Driscoll, I am lighter and stronger, It would be best it I went down. We should also get a horse here to help pull whoever goes down back up."

"We will need some light, a lantern that can be hung from a rope to help light the area and I have rope in my saddlebags back at the inn."

Tamuril moves to the side of the well and looks down, then looks about for rock, she wants to drop it down the well and count how long it takes before it hits the bottom. It was a trick she and her friends used to gauge whether they could jump off a branch to the forest floor, the longer the count the more dangerous it was.

"He is not evil," Aurora announced to the others. She begins to look about for some way of freeing the man. She searches for something to use as a lever or even for the dead body of a guard hoping he may have keys.

"Any of you have skills in opening locks?"

Over the time she had been locked inside this place she had learned all manner of inmates were incarcerated here, good and bad and evil. There was a difference between bad and evil. For her bad was a term for lawbreakers, but not all lawbreakers were evil. Evil was something entirely different.

Outside the town:

Light fadedfrom the thankfully clear skiesm as the sun set behind the Thunder Peaks. There a moferate copse of trees that Alexandria pointed out about a hundred yards away from the walls of the town. The small group finds there is enough grazing for the horses. that they untack and let out to grazze. A resident owl high in the branches of one tree hooted its displeasure at the company since their presence would frighten away any small game that venture near to the trees. forcing the owl to hunt further from its nest this night.

With a little work they could dig a fire pit and set up a fairly descent camp. There would be no pine boughs for bedding so there was only the hard ground for their bedrolls, unfortunately the trees were too wide spread to rig a hammock, nor were the branch of a sufficent width to hold the weight of a person.

Alexandria's patient, the little dragonette Precious seemed quite content riding in her haversack. until she set it down. Precious made her way out and settled into Alexandrias hood at the badk of her head. Flame, on the other hand, was being a pest, constantly flying about and then dropping down to check on Precious.

Inside the walled town:

Lorae watches them leave, sighs and then looks to Devon, "It looks like we are it. The guard gave me the name of an inn, let us go there and have dinner sent out to the others."

They ride through town, which was in the process of closing up for the night. by the time they reached the town square to last of the sellers was leaving. As the guard had noted the inn stood on the other side. It the bottom floor was of sut and dress stone but second and third floos were plastered timber constuction. IT look strudy and well made with a cooper roof. Quite a well built place for a town this size but ther were plenty of wagon and carts out in the yard around the inn. Obviously it got plenty of travelers coming here.

Hearing this from Alexandria, Lorae moves forward. The tall Eldritch young woman looked down to the Drow, her eyes strangely old, with a weight of wisdom.

"I never heard a mention of race as he asked each of us; Human, Elf, and Drow, to peace bond our weapons. There was no racial prejudice in what he asked. There was not even a side long glance, nor did I see or hear any sign of any antimosity on the part of the guards as you passed."

Back in Peradyse a dark elf would not have lasted a arrow's flight from the walls.

"Remember, they let you in, nor were you arrested the moment you stepped through the gates."

Once back on the surface Tamuril heads over to the despairing mother, she uses her bardic skills to calm her so she could question her.

"Ease your fears good woman, we will lend our eyes and ears to the task. It would help us greatly if you tell us where they were last seen? What were they doing, and where did it seem they might be heading?"

She waited patiently, putting a calming hand on the woman's shoulder. She listens carefully to whatever the woman says. When she was finished they would probably have to go to where they had last been seen. To bad none of them was a ranger. The needed such for tracking. Eleven children were taught the basics of the forests, how to survive if lost and such. Tamuril's aim for life did not eactly lead her into furthering her forest skills.

Unfortunately with everyone wondering about, tracking them was going to be near impossible.
