Kas leaped into the water that was not, after the fireballs errupted, adding further injury to her fire wracked body. She immediately lost consciousness, that at least stopped the pain.

By evening the group finds itself nearing a large village named Riverford, that boasted a fine 2 story tavern and inn called The Broken Bucket. For those who could not read the sign there was a broken bucket hanging from an iron hook over the door.

The village seemed to be prosperous, and bustling with activity as the inhabitants prepared for evening. Goodwives called in their children to get ready for dinner, an errant flock of chickens protested being driven into their chicken coop for the night. Some older children teamed up and get the fussy flock hearded into their chicken coop. Stupid chickens were acting like there was something frightening in the coop, when it was built to keep them safe at night.

A number of locals were entering the tavern/inn, wearing their work clothes, for their evening mug of brew, and to hear the days news before going home for the night.
Friends called to each other and individuals grouped up to enter The Broken Bucket.

A stable lad of about 12-14 comes out or the livery stable to take your horses. "A Siver for each horse for them for hay. water and a stall, anything more costs extra. Ask me and I can tell you how much.

Looking the way to the retreating man Billy spoke of, she takes up her Holy symbol.

"Corellon, I call on you as witness. I curse him who used the wolves, causing their deaths. He will pay for his horrendous act against nature, this I swear."

As it is nature's way Alea leaves the body to the earth. with a blessing. "Corellon, please welcome this wolf into your sweet fields, grant him your blessing that none may ever use him to do Evil again."

Alea then gathers her things, goes to her mount, and brushes and tacks him up ready to ride out with the others.

After Cerric identifies said magic pieces.

"As a Spellcaster, Cerric, you might like the one Amulets of Natural Armor. Highnar, the mount you have is very smooth, but you can try out the Stone Horse in any case. Once again, we need to make 3 choices on the magic items and then hope that each gets something they want. If we do it like before it seemed to work ok. How about drawing straws to see who gets to go first from their list."

"Since there are a number of magical items that can only be used by Cerric or myself, then I think they should be taken as group stash as then constitute things that could be used to aid any in the group, the scrolls and the wands. The rest is up for grabs."

Lorae then gets up and goes over to gather some straw. This her cuts into lengths and carries back to the others.

"Let's draw straws." She hold them in her hands so that the look all the same length.

After each takes a pick they lay them on the table
As the staws and picked and laid out on the table Brianna's has drawn the longest, Cerric is second, Highnar is third, Logan is fourth, Vatta is fifth and Lorae is sixth.

"The second choice will go in reverse order," says Lorae. "Only to be fair to all."

"But before we start picking we should go out and checkout the dark horse of the magic items, the Stone Horse. That way Highnar will know if he wants it or not in the first three of his picks."

Stardate: 2374.08.31
USS Cerberus – 1500 hours deck 5

Rhiana took the turbo lift down to deck 5 where her quarters with Shiarrael were located.

Lieutenant Rhiana stepped out smartly into the hallway passed the security team outside the Centurion’s door and a thought crossed her mine. As she walked to the turbo lift she quickly typed in the essence of it into her palm pad, to share with Shiarrael. She would not mention anything outloud too many big ears. Sometimes an imp of the perverse erupted in her creative mind. Having examined this one carefully she thought it the most delicious idea that she had had in a long time. Star Fleet was watching them and would be recording just about every thing they said or did especially when using their "communicators" That is why her idea was written out only on her personal pad.

Rhiana picked up her step and quickly got to her assigned rooms.

Entering she found Shiarrael cozily ensconced on the sofa feet tucked up under her. Rhiana moves over to where she is sitting, "Ready to go to the lounge?" If you are take a look at this while I take a quick shower and change.” Rhiana hands Shiarrael her pad and then explains, “It is an idea I had or improving the efficiency of the power couplings."

Anyway that is what she said. What she had written was something totally different. "Read this and tell me if this would not work."

The words written on her pad were......(WOULDN'TYOU LIKE TO KNOW--ROTFLMAO.) "Check it out and tell me what you think. I have all the relevant material I need to make it work." There is a wicked grin on her face.

Last night thet attacked Comrade," she points to the Moon Horse, "they were pulling the hide off of him and taking it down into the water. I rescued him and they chased us a good while before we left them behind. Was that usual or unusual?"

Elessarae asked the question because she wanted to know about the attack last night and also to keep this defused. She say the wat Draven was standing and knew he was open for a challenge. Elessare, had wanted to know that and had even asked the innkeeper to bring a druid back with him. In a way she feels responsible for his death.

"Until then, warrior, we will have to show him that were are his friends and we mean it. I fear he does not want to involve us in his problem, but too late, we are involved."

With that she leans forward to Septimus's horse and whispers in it ear. Soon the horse goes down on the ground and waits until Zara can get Septimus mounted. Then she casts a disguise spell anon Septimus in now a blond haired, blue eyed warrior type.

"Septimus, until the time you can use your own name without fear, we will call you Morgan, fittingly it means Dark Warrior."

Therefore, ungrateful to me for having saved him. Septimus you say, interesting. Why don't you take hold of him and I will drop the levitate. But he is going to need help to stand.".

Zara turns to look at Septimus. "Failed, I should hope so How could you do that to me--to us."

Zara looked up to the woman. “Thank you, I know he won’t right now, but we will, his FRIENDS will.”

Zara turned his attention back to the troubled young man. “And I do mean FRIENDS. She reaches out to take a firm hold on him.. "If you please let the lvitation go, I have him. She catches his weight and lets his legs reach the ground. “Go slowly, Septimus." she admonishes him, and the same time her eyes rake over is body taking in everything about him.

“Dae is going to be disappointed.” She says helping him sit with a hand going behind his back. “If this is all about those who seek you, then I am at a point where I will go and teach them the error of their ways, PERMANENTLY. By the LIGHT I will.”

She feels if he can stay seated by himself, and only then releases the hand behind his back.

“From now on you go nowhere without us. Until the menace that is driving you to end your life as it is, is over. How can Dae watch over me, when she has to watch over you also. I will just have to stay with you so she can do both.”

With a hand there to give him a hand if he needs it, Zara then turns her attention back to the young woman. “Hello, My name is Zara, and this is Septimus,” she points to him. “Back there is Dae, my half-sister, Jason our mage, and Oko is the Felani. I am glad you found him when you did. I am aware you healed him, but did you do a restoration?”

She jumps off her horse and lands lightly in the grass beside the young man. "Septimus, what happened?"

Elessarae took Aluwego by the shoulders and looked the young man in his face while giving him a bit of a shake to get his attention. When some sort to calm returned she looked him straight in the eyes.

“Dying to save Sylvaria is the ultimate gift we can give our people if in doing so we can eliminate this terrible threat or any other dangers to our people. No one wants to die, I, you, these others here, but I would hazard to guess even these non Sylvari understand the gravity of the situation and what it may take for us to end this blight.”

“We must kill the MAOUS the attacked your village. There could be Sylvari still hidden in their homes or up in trees, afraid to come out or down. We must make it safe for them to do so.”

Elessarae gave Aluwego’s shoulder a squeeze and then turned to the situation at hand. She stepped up to beside Wulf and looked at him. “He was one of the first to react and move out to see what it was that killed the innkeeper, and to traverse the village. Not exactly the man one would lift a sword too.”

And then she steps up to Lady Quilanday. “I only just met him, but his group seems to include him as a valued member even though he seems to stand apart from them.”

Now she turns her head to Draven. “Sir, Is there anything you may carry that the MAOUS might sense.”

Although the dark warrior is markedly different than the others of his group, there seems to by nothing about his appearance that would cause the beast to leave his presence, and her Sylvari nose detected no unusual smell to him, so it must be something else that it sensed that caused it to leave. Just what that could be was as yet unknown, so she waited and listened for Draven’s answer.

(OOC no problem with DM prerogitive. I will probably repeat that part of my previous post in a later post.)

Kas next turns on the man that had struck her down. There is a singleminded focus to her attacks. She wanted the enemy dead, or incapacitated. In a haze of red, possibly from the blood falling into her eyes, Kas prepares to swing on the morningstar wielder (S4). She gathers herself to meet the man, her blade going overhead so that she could bring it down on the man and not accidently hit the elven woman on the other side of him. Given a moment she will also try an kick the weapon of the man she just felled off the bridge and if that is not possible then out of his reach.

Her next attack will be on the Sentry that just swung on her (S1) she stands so that one is to her front and one is to her side so that she is not flanked.

Elessarae moved up to the young man she had met that very morning. She put a hand on his shoulder and when he looked at her she spoke. “I understand your loss Aluwego Marrienbark, the time to grieve will come, but for now we must stop that creature and then find the infected tree.”

Elessarae turns to the Sylvari warrior and then to the young archer, “Sir Warrior, Aluwego we need to find that creature as soon as possible. Can you think of a place where we might lure it or drive it, where we can set up a trap using fire against it? Also do either of you know of a large net that we might use?”

Elessarae was trying to cover all the possibilities. She knew it was fast and if it had the abilities of a lizard, then it was agile and could climb. Her mind was racing with what if and then what.

“Loda, do you have an entangle spell?”

Then she remembered her vial of Lotus Potion. “If worse comes to worse, I have an extra vial of potion, it might work on the creature, just like it works on a tree.”

She then looked about to the others hoping someone would add their ideas so that a plan could be formulated from the best possible input. She, her new companions, Quilanday, Aluwego and the Sylvari warrior, were all in the same boat when it came to dealing with a completely strange creature. There would be no knowing what would work and what wouldn’t work against it. But like the other creatures she had dealt with and heard of, the MAOUS were tough, with enhanced natural armor like the Demon Owls.

Elessarae took a deep breath and tried to rein in her racing mind. She felt that one of the more experienced of the group should be heading up this part of the planning, and she look to Lady Quilanday suddenly feeling a bit embarrassed that she had stepped in and was ordering others about, she the neophyte of the group.

“My Lady, what would you suggest?”

The Inn finally settles down, the locals go home and the floor of the common room is covered with palettes and hay brought from the stable to make suitable cushioning for those who would be spending the night.

It was a warm enough night that blankets were only needed to provide a barrier between hay and body.

The small of fresh bread baking in the ovens and bacon frying in pans was enought to wake the sleepers in the morning. Many hands helped to reload the hay into the wagon that brought it, and the palettes were stacked away in a shed in the back of the inn.

Brerakfast consisted of porridge, fresh bread, cheese, slabs of thick bacon, and hard boiled eggs. At breakfast were some travelers, some refugees and the intrepid band of adventurers.

Kas saw red in more than one way and the rage that suddenly filled her sent her back into the fight with renewed purpose. The man with the morning star was beside her, but his attention seemed to be turned away from her as she pushed herself up to see that the man was now facing an elf and great wolf and a warhorse.

As much as she wants retribution she looks about for other enemies, and finds one right beside her, for him she raised her sword and swung with all her might and determination.

Death is in her eyes, as she faces him. Her intent was plain on her face as she faced the enemy. She wants his blood spattered on the ground, she wants him dead at her feet. Beyond him were others and she gave them a quick look, golden eyes promising their deaths as she smiled at them and at the man she faced.

She moved with power and grace, her Bastard Sword dancing in her hands as she wove her blade in intricate patterns to cause her opponent to come to the moment when he follows to block a sweep, only to find that she thrusts her blade forward under his sword into his unprotected body.

“Lt Commander Rrowl, I would like to set up some time on your holodeck to do some dry runs on mounting the cloaking device. Please forward this to the proper personnel. I would also appreciate the name of a liaison officer that I can contact when needed." She knew Rrowl would not be pleased by her message, but she had no details on who she could contact. This was not going to be an easy voyage with the antimosity she felt from many of the crew, from the Captain down. Hopefully they would get the cloaking device situated and then they could just sit back and ride out the mission, staying out of the way of the Star Fleet personnel. The Mark 5 Cloaking Device was very reliable and could take quite a beating and still function, and Sienae had brought enough spare parts to rebuild the device 2 times over.

"Also I would like those comlinks as soon as possible, you should have them fully bugged by now."

That done she then sat at the table and began to program the information she wanted to disseminate to the others of her team.

Subject: Kasenarrion Sunblade

The day had begun well and Kasenarrion Sunblade made her way along the road in the direction given by the High Priest of Tyr back home. As a follower of the God of Justice and especially as War and Retribution were two of his Domains, Kas had sought the input of the priest as to the best direction to go to serve Tyr, and so it was that she came to this road and the bridge. There she spied 3 sentries on each end of the bridge. As she rode toward the bridge a man in rough clothing held up his hand and indicated she should stop. Kas reigned in Sunfire, her war stallion and turned her golden stare on the man with his hand raised and the two others posted on either side of the entrance to the bridge.

As the man moved up Kas did not like the feel of him and Sunfire reacted to her own reaction by prancing in place and snorting. Evidently the man was knowledgeable enough to recognize a trained war horse and he stopped out of reach of the stallion hooves and teeth.

“That’ll be 2 gold for you and 5 for your horse.” Kas knew that the price was exorbitant and glared down at the man. Had the gulley the bridge cross ednot been so wide or so deep she could have jumped it, and she could still elect to ride downstream to fine a better crossing point, but who knew how long that would take. But the injustice of the rates, and the fact that others had probably been fleeced of their money by these men set Kas along a different path. She rode forward and fished out a small coin purse and tossed it to one of the guards at the bridge opening. It only had a few coppers in it as she kept her silver and gold in a coin pouch slung around her neck under her armor and clothes. It was more than enough for a common bridge fee.

“That is the proper fee,” she states and rides forward passed the man who had stopped her.

She trotted Sunfire across the bridge, the big stallion’s feet drumming on the logs that made the sturdy base of the bridge.

“Hey,” came a cry from behind her, “There’s only 8 coppers.”

Kas, not wanting to jeopardize the stallion, dismounted and sent him galloping off the bridge where he stopped and turned waiting for a whistle to return. With graceful ease, denoting natural fluidity and intense training Kas reached behind her back and drew a gleaming silver/white bastard sword and turned her back to the railing so that the oncoming men could not come up behind her.

She held the blade in readiness to defend herself and allowed them to strike first. Her first assessment of the men was justified as they both closed one from each end and attacked, they were evil in intent and in their actions. Evil was not to be tolerated in any form. After their initial swings, Kas unleashed a series of blade maneuvers that drove the men about the bridge. She kept both at bay and scored a number of minor wounds before one of them was lucky enough to get under her guard to stab her in the leg. She was worried about the man with the mace, he had uncanny agility and he knew how to handle his weapon where as the man with the sword, was no swordsmen. Inch by inch Kas drove the swordsman toward the far side of the bridge where she aimed to go while trying to keep the man with the mace far enough away to make him ineffectual.

Unfortunately Kas’s foot hit a loose board and she half stumbled, just enough to allow the mace wielder to hit her hard in the shoulder spinning her around thus allowing the swordsman to get a lucky hit, fortunastely it was on her helmet which rocked her back and knocked her helmet eschew and then the mace wielder put two hands on his mace and drove the end of it right into her forehead.

Pain exploded and darkness took her.
