Subject: Zora

Zora brings her sword to a more threatening position point out about 45 degrees from her body. She uses the universal sign for silence and moves cautiously toward where she heard the sound. Zora is hoping the thing is just a common animal with the sense to run away, but she is also prepared.

There was a time when Zora would have been conjecturing any number of possibilities as to what it was and what it might do, not that she did not still do that, but now a trained warrior she had learn to quickly analyze the situation and then ready herself, and not dwell on conjectures, which could lead her astray or cause her to be surprised.

She points to Sil to move up with her but about 5 feet from her, that way if something were to attack them, either one of them was a step away from the other. Zora walked by stepping on her toes first to minimize making noise, and continues to move up.

Subject: Zora

Zora is happy for the light that Sil lit as she could barely see once into the deeper shadows of the holy place. She finally could make out a desolated ruin of what once was probably a simple, but elegant temple or monastery. The eye, book and candle symbols of Oghma and Deneir were faded but evident in numerous places on the walls.

Zorana turned and approached one of the symbols of Oghma and Deneir. Bowing in respect before one set of the symbols, Zorana speaks to the powers that were once worshipped in this place. “Oghma and Deneir, we have come her to recover the Lantern of Truth for the benefit of good people. I am a Paladin of Tyr and one of his domains is Knowledge, in that he is akin to you. Aid us in recovering it so that it can be used for good. Let not the gifts that were stored here be lost to folk who can use them to do good works. I promise to tithe to a portion to a temple of yours. Pleased protect us from the evil that may now dwell here and likewise I promise to destroy what I can to rid your once holy place of their presence.”

This she rejoins the Silvara and views the map. “That could mostly likely be the library. Perhaps we can gain some information there,” commented Sil.

“Library, or Laboratory,” replies Zora as Sil guesses at the broken word. "We can double check that and fill in the missing letters."

While they were there a howling passed through the room, and a chill that swept across their frames. Perhaps it was a gust of errant wind from above…

Zora cocked her head to listen more carefully, muck like a dog will do. Wolves or some canine hunter outside? Or maybe it was inside. She continues to zone in on the origin of the howling and the breeze that blue through. She looks at how far they are from the door and wonders if there could be an opening to the air somewhere else, that would allow for the movement of air.

“Time to move on and find this thing,” announces Silvara, in the now quiet depths of the temple. “I would like to check out the library first. There could be important information to discover in there.”

Zora draws her sword and lifts her shield, being prepared could be the difference between life and death.

Topic: The Chakran Portal - an Adventure in Audalis
Subject: Elessarae

Elessarae wrote a message and sent it with her coin purse, tied securly to her saddle. There was all her money in the pouch, what she had left for the reward. The message asked that the horses be taken to the Moonlit Castle to be cared for. She adds that they are the mounts of those non Sylvari that had fought the Mauos at Hith Elee and healed the White Willow. Elessasrae asks that the Moodsteed be treated as a free spirit and not penned or tied. If there was not enough money, she asked that they petition Meglindar Nost for it in her name.

Before they set out Elessarae offered the helm and the sheild to any of the group that wants them explaining what they were and did, there was the light wooden shield +1 and the helm that gave a good bouns to grappling.

She climbs the mountains like a chamois and is not the winded when they reach the top. Since leaving the castle Elessarae has been wearing an oddly colored set of clothes. The are basically gray but they look like strangely spotted. It was as it the clothe had been daubed with water first and the dye was scattered over the cloth. browns, greens, and dark blue-gray. In some places the dyes made dark lines and in other the spatter dyes bled in the wet cloth and diluted the colors. In spome places the dyes bled into each other forming differnt tones. (Sylvari camo cloth.)

Before them lay a dark valley, surrounded by peaks and ranges taller than the one they had climbed right now. The only vegetation that grew here were patches of grass, dry bushes, and sporadical trees. Down in the valley laid a small lake, black in the shadow of the mountains. In the distance they could see snow covered tops that eternally watched history unravel itself.

The thumping echo of drums reached their ears stronger here, and after peering over the mountains a few moments they perceived movement in the depth below them.

The mountain they had just mastered went down again fast on the other side, and up to higher peaks on their flanks. Going down was another path, only existent by forming flatter rocks and slightly smoothed surfaces to walk on. The path lead towards the valley, and ended on a grassy plateau, an even place in jagged surroundings. On the right side of the plateau was a deep drop that the companions could hardly see beyond. But they caught a glimpse there of a rocky bottom, with green dots moving about, like a swarm of ants. Occasionally a small speck of light would flicker, but as the shadows of night grew deeper, the scene was taken from their sight.

This was what Elessarae had come for to spy on the goblins. What little she saw of them in the growing shadows left her wanting to race back and warn the castle, There were thousands of them and who knew how many thousand of thousands there were in the valley beyond their sight.

"This is not good," she commented to those about her. "Someone has gathered all the tribes of the mountains, it would seem. Someone with enough power to keep them from killing themselves in blood feuds and tribal wars."

Subject: Zoranna

As Zora looks at the things being laid out by Firin she speaks up. “We will not need your shovel and hammer as I have them packed on my mule. Zora then goes to the mule and pulls out her empty backpack and fills is with hammer, hemp rope, a short handled shovel-tied to the side, 3 flasks of oil, 3 days of rations, canvas bucket, healer’s kit, and water skin. She then takes up her composite longbow and quiver of arrows. She stings the bow and slings it over her left shoulder and quiver over her right shoulder. Zora then takes up her shield. (She is already wearing what is listed in worn items.)

She untacks her horse and mule and tied them to the side of the temple entrance, with enough rope to graze. “Firin, I have a feeling you will be staying here. I believe that the chance for fame and fortune coming from our success, would be of great benefit to you. I ask that you watch over my horse and mule and I do have 5 days of rations available for them in the mule’s packs. Tyr bless you for your generosity. May he keep us all safe during this endevor.

“Zorana, If anything happens to me but not you I would ask you to make sure my letter is given over to a reputable elf so that it can make it way back to my family in Evermeet. I would want my Grandmother to know what happened. If neither of us make it, I will asked Firin to send it on.” If anything happens to you I will do my best to get the Lantern back to your temple, and carry word to them also of what has happened to you.

Zora listens carefully to Sil’s words and preparations should something happen to one or both of them. The young Paladin of Tyr nods to her friend. "I will do as you ask." Then turning to the Halfling, "Firin, I would ask you, should I and Sil not return, to take my belongings and mount and mule to the Temple of Tyr, such an act may stand you in good stead with the temple."

Strange how Sil’s mention of not returning got her mind to remembering odd bits of memories the stuck some chord in her mind. Moment of great happiness, odd occurrences and such, just bits and snatches. Like the time when a number of cadets had gone to the local tavern for a mug of ale or whatever was their favorite. A group of local toughs got to razzing them and causing trouble. As one of the cadets, the youngest and a female, Zora bore the brunt of bad jokes and some downright insults. Well when one of the toughs made the comment “I here you are given riding lessons, is the girl your mount.” There were some lewd snickers at that. Do you think she will let us ride her too?”

Hard to say who started it, but soon Zora was in the thick of it. Though the cadets were out numbered, they worked as a cohesive whole. When the toughs started getting the worst of it, knives flashed out and Zora grabbed the first thing at hand to throw on the oncoming attackers. She threw it with all her might and though she wanted to hit one of them in the head, the small crockery bowl hit the lead tough in the chest and then it happened, the bowl was filled with ground pepper and it few up into the air, the toughs came through the cloud of fine pepper powder and they were completely disabled as their eyes teared and they sneezed uncontrollably.

They were crying out in pain from the burning sensation in their eyes and still coughing and sneezing. The town watch came and after hearing from the witnesses the cadets were sent back to the academy and the toughs were taken to jail.

An idea suddenly comes to her, “Firin, would you have a fair amount of pepper and some paper.” She also looks at what they bought to check to see if there were torches in the pile.

Silvara then discusses the riddle with Zora, “I have been thinking about that riddle.” to Zorana as she repacks her backpack. I think we need night to see if it means anything out here. It might be that the silvery light pointed down these stairways but I do not think we should waste the day away waiting to see if it does. If we decide to come out of here at night to rest, we can check then.”

A bit later SIlvara takes up the map and studies it after she is putt into her backpack those things she has decided to take with her. SHe passes it to Zora telling her to studied it well.

“Your are right, though one part makes it sound like the setting sun might show the way, that light would be red. Silver light sounds like the moon.

Zora Studies the map in detail, and contemplates what phase the moon was in. She also checks the position of the sun to determine how many hours till sunset.

“I am ready.”

Zora ket Sil go first as this is the Elf's area of expertise. She will follow about 5 feet behind Sil This way they can see to both sides and front to back.

It's a Dragon. I could not find a female avatar to fit my first RDInn personna. Then, as I got into other games I just sort of stuck with it, anyway I could not change it for each of the games I was in.

I know that Catt was mumbling something about getting the sit programmed so that we can select different avatars for each game, but until then (hopefully soon) I will use this one. BECAUSE: One it is easy to see when looking down the posts. Two it fits me. Three, because I liked it.

So There.

Alea moves to the spot as indicated by Siliwen. "There is a residue of Evil here. I suggest we leave immediately and find a safer location where we can up Siliwen in a tree or on rock. That is until we learn even those places are noit safe."

Alea goes to gather her things and then to tack her horse, She pauses as she turns to go to her horse. "Billy can you hold her a bit longer, I will get her horse tacked and she can mount. At least she will be off the ground."

Alea is a bit disheartened that she can do nothing at her level in the way of protection for Siliwen. Being new to the service of Corellon she lacked the divine power need to do such a spell. SHe had the sinking feeling that simple prayer was not going to be of any aid. Very few of her divine spells were of any use except Bless and Heal.

There is a certain amoung to hustle a bustle and small groups of townspeople pausing to speak with friend and acquaintances. The subject of their conversations was the growing concern about what was happening in the Cormanthor Forest which was threatining the Dale Lands.

She leans over to Sil and whispers, "Unless you have a full purse, you had better limit you purchases to what you have in your purse, as I can cover the key, map and a spear and maybe a little bit more."

Life as a Paladin was far different than that of an adventurer. Like an adventures all of her wealth was in her equipment that allowed her to serve Tyr, the rest she tithed to the Tyrran various temples except for keep some coinage to live on when she could not find temple to stay in while traveling. Have she been in Cormyr she could have drawn on the family accounts, but here that was not possible.

"How much for the map, key, and the stout spear?"

Alea looks about at that declaration, she does not have the spell to detect evil, but she takes up her holy symbol and moves about the camp starting where Siliwen indicated she first felt the attack.

She looks about to see if there is a tree, if so she will tell Siliwen to get into the tree. If there is somethng moving underground then being up in the air would afford her some protection.

Silvara, Looks over to Zora. "If we are delving underground for this item of yours we will need a few basic things. I have some and with whatever you have we will decide what is most important for this venture."

"I have little of of that type of gear, all my training has dealt with things above ground.

"I would say the map could be useful, I do not know about the key but if someone brought it all this way, there must be a reason. Unless you have a shovel or pick we will need one of each. I have rope perhaps some pitons or aids for climbing.

'Firin Ranklefoot, we will deal with you for what we need. Starting with the map and the key that's 35 gold, Then a shovel, hammer and ten pitons. What is the total now. also How much is a potion of fly just or a scroll whichever is cheapest."

Zora can not figure why they would need to fly underground.
Having training for knighthood and indeed having embark of the path to joining the Purple Dragon Knights, such more nefarious pursuists were not a part of her curriculum.

"Do you have any recommendation Firin? Zora, any suggestions?"

Zora thought quickly as Sil began naming items they might need. "How about a miners pick, and a stout spear. A spear could be used as a lever or a weapon."

Zora next names the pertinent items in her backpack they might need. "Yes Firin, what would you suggest, after hearing what we have?"

While on the trail to Isilme-Ishtil Elessarae will go out early in the morning before the other wake, the she prays for her mother, for in Sillarion Somion ’Enrai the funeral of her mother would begin at sunrise. So it was that her song floated out into the trees, wafted on the pale blue morning mists. She sang the ancient Song of Passing, and lost in her song she did not notice the Elves that materialized out of the mists and joined in her song. When at least the song faded into the trees, Elessarae turned to those that had song with her.

“Thank you,” Elessarae dashed away her tears and nodded to each then returned to their camp.

There were a number of things Elessarae wanted at the castle. First was to get her wand recharged. Second was to find a magic item that would allow her to communicate with Comrade. Third was to get Wulf’s armor and weapon identified. Next she goes to the Main Temple of Adaron. There she makes a offering of 5 gp in Wulf's name and she takes the time to pray for him tell him that She will carry his sword and that other of their group will be enhanced by his shield and helm. The she prays for the success of their mission, and she also adds a pray for her mother. Last of all was to sepend the rest of what she had on things they might need, thought that would be little enough after her larger purchases.

After all that Elessarae contemplates the dispersal of Wulf's items as they ride out to the mountains.

* * * * *

As other speak of leaving the horses behind Elessarae quickly speaks up. "Do not just turn them lose for now, for they may quickly become dinner."

Elessarae had known this moment would come, the reason she bought the ring she now wore.

"I am hoping that I can do something to assure that the horses get back to the city and be taken care of until our return. It will depend on Comrade. If I can get him to do it, he will take the horse back to the castle."

Elessarae gathers her equipment from the black mare. She felt honor bound to return the mare to her owner at Runya Nost. She takes off Comrades bridle, and ties it to the riding pad. For now she holds on to the mare. The time had come to activate the ring.

“Comrade, you can not go with us, we will be going where horses can not go, up the mountains and underground. I need you to obey me as you obey your mother. I need to know you will be safe.’

Not knowing exactly how the ring would she spoke to him aloud and slowly, and the same time building picture in her mind, so if her thought were imparted to him it would show him what she meant.

“Will you lead these horses and ponies back to the castle and stay there until I return?”

It was said and there was an ache in her heart as she spoke. Comrade had been with her for the onset of the MAOUS outbreak, but she also knew that he was in great danger here.

(What ever happens whtt the horses.)

"I have two things of Wulf's for wouldever it would best suit." Elessarae holds out a light wooding shield and the helmet that had been Wulf's. "The shield is magiced an added 1 level to you armor. The helmet gives a bonus to grappling. (See Q&A)

"I will be carrying Wulf's sword"

Stardate: 2374.09.03 Prior to Launch
USS Cerberus – Romulan Centurion’s Cabin – 0500 hours

Sienae was in her cabin when the door chimed. “Enter,” she speaks clearly and knows now the computer will pipe her words to the speaker in the door.

She turns carefully from her computer and looks up. She is surprised to see Yeoman Weatherly, though nothing shows on her face or in her demeanor. Sienea had dealt with the yeoman on a number of occasions awaiting clearance to run the holo simulation programs.

“Yeoman Weatherly, to what do I owe this visit?” In all her dealings with the Star Fleet personnel and the Captain in particular, Sienae had remained perfectly, and politely diplomatic, and infatigably resolute. There was not rancor or ill feeling as to the treatment they received, she knew exactly how most of the crew felt about their presence, and she would have felt the same way and the tables been reversed. So it became water under the bridge, as if none of it occurred and Sienae and her team were just engineers doing there job.

Not that it stopped the Captain’s moments of argument, but Sienea quickly learned how to deal with them. She would just smile and agree. The first time she tried that tactic on Captain Mac Tavish, she caught him flat-footed. It is hard to argue with someone who is agreeing with you.
Another tactic was to become what Terran’s would call a broken record, like getting the holo deck time, she kept sending the same polite request through the proper channels every few hours until it was finally granted. Those precious moments brought Sienae some satisfaction.

“Captain’s compliments, Sir.” The young woman saluted, “He extends an invitation to you and your Second in Command to join him on the bridge for the Launch. And if you wish you team can stand by in Engineering.”

“Thank You, Yeoman. Please inform Captain Mac Tavish that I and S’Talon would be honored to accept. Please alert me 20 minutes prior to launch, as I have noticed that the time for the Launch is tentative at this moment.” Which, if the Yeoman was alert, would indicate that the Romulan Commander was keeping tabs of what was happening onboard the Cerberus.

“I will convey you answer to the Captain.” The yeoman saluted again and departed, the door closing automatically behind her.

“All Romulans,” Sienae touched her com-link. She had the computer create a special protocol so that when she used the com-link and stated, All Romulans, all her team got the same message at the same time. “You have been invited to be in Engineering for the launching. Contact me if you wish to do so, otherwise just continue as you were. S’Talon you will be with me on the bridge. Standard uniforms, this is not a ceremony.”

Subject: Zora

The Halfling Firin hobbled towards Zora and Silvara, a mental smile imparted upon the women; it was until Silvara began casting a spell and drawing steel.

“Well, now, what is with all this hostility my friends?” Firin said once more telepathically.

"If you are injured, or in need, I would say that it was more your good luck to meet? If you would wish, I would see what I could do to aid you, even to refreshing your bandages.

Firin looked upon Zorana with curious eyes, before once more imparting his telepathic response. “While I appreciate your concern kind lady, it would take I fear an act of god to heal that which I have been burdened with. You see, beneath these bandages is a truly horrific sight, in fact, the very reason I do not speak using word of mouth, is simply because there is little left of my mouth left with which to formulate anything coherent.”

Firin went on to tell a story as to how he came by his condition.

Zora watch Firin as he spoke, thought she could not see his face or eyes to use them as indicators of speaking the truth, as a Paladin to Tyr she had had training in questioning, and in observation. Many of those ways were concealed by Firin’s condition, face covered, body enveloped in the cloak and then the lack of voice. She could neither see, nor hear him so she could not make any judgments about his truthfulness.

Firin tried to smile, not that his features were recognizable. “But Firin is as I said resourceful, and a quick learner, and so I took upon the merchant’s trade, with not but scraps and odds and ends, and grew my mighty mercantile empire from there yes yes!” The Halfling puffs out his little chest with swelling pride. “Across Toril Firin Ranklefoot is or shall be known as the greatest merchant alive!, and so I say again, what fortune you have to have crossed my path!”

Firin moved back and sat upon an upturned flagstone of grey slate. “Now, no doubt you ladies are here to test your luck at uncovering the lost and buried treasures of the shrine below yes yes? Is there anything your friend Firin might be providing you for your venture?”

Silvara drops the point of her sword as the halfling begins his story. at the end of it she salutes the halfling and comment, "Since I do not know what is needed to find what Zoranna has come to find for her church, I cannot say what it is I might need."

"I have several questions though. What brought you here at this time, to this place. I find that very interesting coincidence,” her tone made it clear that she did not think it was coincidence. Secondly, why do you offer things to us? What is in it for you to offer these things to us? Certainly you can better sell your wares in a big market place where there are plenty of those with big purses. Mine is slender at best. A daresay Zora’s is even thinner as is her wont. (custom, habit)

Zora held back the smile that came with Silvara’s words. It was her way and she had the knack of knowing just what to say.

"Now if you seek the favor of a God to help you in your tribulations then I can understand that what you do to help Zoranna could well help you also.”

Zora, even though her sword was sheathes was still on alert. “There is a renegade human knight known as the Cardinal, in order to deal with him I was sent by my Temple to search for a relic that will be able to end his reign of Evil.”

“Are you offering to aid us in this endeavor? If you are, it would do well in gaining Tyr’s favor. He is the God of Justice,” she pauses, “and Retribution. It would seem your condition is in need of such. There may come a time when I or one of my brethren can do this service for you, for the wizard the perpetrated this evil on you is surely in need of being brought to Justice.” There was not bravado in her words, no demand for righteous justice, yet in her voice was the firm resolve of one who meant what she said. “Tell me the name of the one who wronged you and I will remember his name.”

Zora did not say if you help us, I will do this, to her the promise of Justice for the wrongdoer was already in motion, not matter what Firin did from this point on. There was something in the thought that he projected to them that gave her more reason to trust him more than any chance met stranger. There was the pain that, he covered with bravedo that spoke of an inner strength.

“I accept your offer Master Firin Ranklefoot. I will pray that Tyr will favor in aiding you.”

If Firin was any judge of character he would know she meant it.

Alea wished she had enought spells to heal the enemies horses, but Billy would need more healing and other might be in neeed also.

Alea stood off to the side and Billy vented on Siliwen. She could understand Billy's anger, but Siliwen was not wrong in what she did. It would be something that Billy had to deal with especially when dealing with an ultimate Evil. For Alea the men who attacked them personified Evil and as such their lives were forfeit.

"Billy, you could use more healing."

Alea will set about cleaning a bandaging the small wounds and use another healing spells, the she will evalutae whoever else is in need of healing and take care of them until she is out of spells. Her one wish was to have been experienced enough, or in the Graces of Corellon more, so that she would have had more spells to use.

They were such a small party, and everyone of them were important to the success of the mission. As much as Alea wanted to smite the evil minions of the Dark One, she knew that her skills were needed to keep the party alive and healed.

Subject: Zora

Zora knew Sil's cautious nature would have her already prepares to go into action and was scanning the area for a possible trap. She now knew that the figure she first scanned for the touch of evil was not of that nature, though there was about him the air of one not governed by law as he partially revealed himself as a Halfing.

Laws were what Zora was brought up on, though some had other names like courtly etiquette, manners, noblesse oblige, duty, honor, tradition, and codes of combat. Such were the strictures of a daughter of a noble house in Cormyr, a house with a long tradition of service to Monarch and Country. It is noblesse oblige that promps her response the the Halfing.

"If you are injuried or in need, I would say that it was more your good luck to meet us. If you would wish, I would see what I could do to aid you, even to refreshing your bandages.

While facing him Zora swings her leg over the neck of the warhorse so the she stays faced at the Halfling all the time ans she slides off the right side of which left her sword arm free. She lightly touches the ground with bent knees.
