Subject: Lorae

"I will work with Brianna," Lorae turns to the Druidess, and Devon, "Do what you can." Having never fought with them she had no idea of their expertise, and morale in such a situation.

"Druidess, if we can draw the dragon away from the tree, go to rescue whatever creeture in hiding in there." In this case the Druidess would have the skills and magics that could give succour to a wounded and frightened animal ."

Moon Dancer spins to the side and the break into a run, as they charge the creature, a sword flashes into the paladin's hand.

"Brianna," she yells, "we must draw it away from the tree."

The others arrived to view the scene in progress. Brianna was dismounted attacking the dragon with her swords as Xuor had his bow up and aimed at the beast. Meanwhile Devon called out to the beast trying to taunt it, though he might as well be trying to taunt an iron golem.

Brianna’s strike hit the dragon first, there the a flash of bluish light and the lightning magic was released as she struck with Lightning and a roll of thunder as she struck with Thunder. The clouds that had been the gathering since the sun rose began to roil and boil together, darkening and their agitation of the air built an electrical charge that was then directed by the Druidess straight at the dragon. There was a crackling of the air as the blue-white bolt sizzled the air and the natural thunder reverberated from the clouds.

Now the dragon’s attention was turned. It half untwisted from the tree, turning its attention toward the closest attackers, Brianna. The juvenile red open its mouth to belch fire.

(OOC: write post with 2 actions, giving conditional actions based on what may happen…if this, then I do this.)

It is a good 2 mile gallop through the tall grasses, scrub oaks, and giant old live oaks the dotted the landscape. Flame flew into a group of big oaks and as Brianna and Xuor neared. Roars now reached their ears as they needed to slow up from their all out run. They come upon a red dragon, thankfully not full grown, a long juvenile approaching young adult. It was clawing at a large and getting larger hole in the giant oak. The tree itself shows blackened areas where the beast had used it breath weapon, leaves and smaller branches still smoldered from the scorching flames. Broken branches, up to a foot thick, littered the ground about it.

Wrapped partly around the great tree it was difficult to judge the exact size of the dragon, maybe 30 to 40 feet. As far as the mood of the beast, with it tail lashing about, and its frustrated roars and flashing claws digging furiously at the hollow, it was easy to see that it would not take to being disturbed. It could only be hoped he had spent his fiery breath on the tree.

Tamuril gives the Sylvari Druid a final look before mounting, then looks down on him. " I would have thought that these people were on the downward side of the Balance you spoke of for far longer than they should have been, and now we along work for true balance in there lives."

She swings her horse away and joins the others, "I suggest we scout the coast and find the bast place to observe from. Allwe know is that they come from the sea, and go to the village. So somewhere between the two is where we have to find a safe vantage point."

Lorae looks to the others, "If you do not need saddles ride bareback. If anyone wishes they can ride behind me to save time."

Moon Dancer cantered up to Lorae fully tacked, which would seem odd to those who spent the morning with her for she had not tacked the Moon Horse at all. She waits following the line that Flame and Brianna had taken.

"Come, let us get to that man and then out of here, I do not know why the skeletons are staying away from us, but I will not question whether the Gods and Godesses intervened or if it Dame Fortune."

Morasennarion continues on to to where the man of diguises stands. She lets the horror of what has happened slide over her like water. Here and now were what was inportant, she could do nothing about what had and was happening. She hopes the circle of undead will continue to keep back from them as they near the man putting him inside the circle with them.

"Come, man of many faces," she will say when he is in the circle with them, "we must depart. My family has a home outside the city, I pray that it still is safe and unaffected by what has happened here."

"Devon," Lorae answers him as he askes about saving meat. "Normally they would be cleaned, but the skin left on, then wrapped in grasses or leaves and put into a sack and kept as cool as possible."

"But we carry bags of holding and stasis, so we can keep them there, they will be as fresh, in a month, as they were when they were put into the bag."

As they continue to speak about the rabbits Lorae catches Alexandria's movement and her attention outside the camp. when she smoothes her dress Lorae stands.

"Excuse me, Devon. It seems we have a new arrival."

So I am off riding back to the forest. If I read my Forgotten Realms maps right I could make it in a day, at least to midway through the forest on the road cuts though it. As to where the main center of the Elves lay. I have no idea.

"So I take it we must return to the monastry?" she looks to the others.

"There is one other thing we can do before we return, we can watch to see who comes and what they do?"

Tamuril dismounted and bowed deeply to the venerable Elf. Her keen eye take in his rament and the oddities of his person.

When she had first seen the sea she had been mesmerized by it, had wanted to stop and spend time gathering the music of the waves, winds, and sea birds. Seeing this elf made her refeel those initial moments, as she took in the sight, sounds and scents of the vast rolling waters of the sea. The colors of the elf's rament, and his hair and the fact that they seemed to flow about him, yea the very feeling exuded by him, called out to her with the voice of the sea.

"Sire." It was proper title of respect to an elder, "are you a spirit of the sea?"

She rides with her left hand and her right on the hilt of her sword as they left the village. She scans the horizon to alert for moments and as Perrin announces his intention to check into the old man.

Tamuril turns her horse to follow Brother Perrin, just to get away from Ocyari....and to protect the neophyte scribe.

Mora stares at the girl, "I have no magic, I usually fight with my hands and feet. Thank goodness I brought a sword, because the old man said their was a dragon in the cave."

She pauses weighing the consequences. "Ok I will go in far enough to find the man."

She draws out her sword and moves forward with caution. "Stay behind me."

Mora moves quickly, yet cautiously. She is hoping some people saved were not so changed, by whatever fell magics were used to cause this terrible change to the inhabitants. Using her exotic training as a ninja, she focused on herself and Ninian and flowed into the city ready to fight if needed.

Mora looked over to Ninian, "I've got to check on my family. We live a bit north of the town though both my parents work in town...I hope...."

What had happened, what sort of magics had been released to cause the she could see. Mora of the town and what had happened to the people. Those that she could see were grotesquely ripping chunks of flesh of themselves off their skeletons and moving about with jerky motions.

Morae clamped down on all her wild thoughts, worry would be of no help. She got hold of Ninian and headed north into the woods

The evening breezes stirred the tree tops and soon after sunset the moon rose golden for a bit before the turning radient silver.

Alexandria danced to her Goddess and Devon finished his watch under the gaze of Lorae. She nodded to him before he tucked himself into his bedroll. She did the same when Alexandria did the same much later.

Brianna was woken by the changes of the animal sounds, nocturnal, to diaurnal. Lorae had already stirred the fire and had gotten to going.

"That is not safe," says Lorae, "Brianna is trained and experienced, she is a light sleeper, the moments lost in waking from a spell induced sleep slows reactions."

She smiles and looks to the priestess. "I will watch while you dance. Like you I nrrd little sleep." Truth be told she needed none.

Tamuril stared at Ocyari, feeling the hot stinging of the slap. She does nothing or says nothing, refraining from reacting on what might have been Ocyari’s reason for doing so

She looks to the townsfolk accusingly, on her face a look of, SHAME ON YOU, for those who would bequeath this problem to their children. at the parents, followed by a look of utter sadness for the children. She walks by a child, who had been listening to the story. She touches his head softly, “I am sorry.”

She turns on her heel and goes back to the inn.

Xuor ranges out ahead of the group and checks back in at random times, from 15 minutes to 45 minutes. The traveling is easy mostly flat lands, but there are some ups and downs. The weather warms to the 80's and the lunch stop at a stream provided time for a cooling wash of face and arms. the horse were allowed to drink only lightly at first and then they drank before the group started off.

Herds of deer farther from the road lifted their heads to watch the group as they road by. One group was crossing the road when they came over a low rise and the bounded off onto the deep grass and a copse of bushes.

If they had needed there was enough small game to provide a fine meal, as it was they were carrying all that they needed.

A lowering sun signaled the need to search out a campsite. Xuor came back and pointed off the Northwest to a stand of trees.

"I've found water and grazing for the horses, and fine cover for a camp. It looks like it has been used by a number of caravans."

Following him to the stand of trees, they find a well set up camp area. There is even a firepit made of field stone.

Xuor, Brianna, and Lorae, quickly set up camp and help those like Devon to set up his bedroll in the best place, and as the new man he is given a shovel to dig the jaks (Long trench that the user stands, or squats over to do what is natural.) downwind of the camp.

By the time everyone is setup the food is one and cooking. Xour built a low-burning fire so that it cut down the chance of flying sparks igniting the grass, though it seemed that the users of the campsite regularly cut back the wild growth to avoid that problem. Brianna cleared out he most recent surge of new growth and gathered firewood.

The sun set and for a while the warmth of the day lingered. The group soon found the warmth of the fire warmed the surrounding rocks and that radiated warmth rocks that countered the chill edged of the night breezes.

"We need to set up watches,"
