My two cents worth. Whitehorse should have a floor plan or one should have been sent with the group of the place we are going so we could go in hot and not cold. I am not talking about the temperature of the enviornment either.

Logan makes first contact dealing damage to the orc in front of him, in the hipsin and continues his first swing into the Orc on his left in the orcs left arm. Finally he uses his off hand to strike the left hand Orc again in the right side ribs.

Vatta’s arrows leap from her singing bow striking the Orc leader in the left leg, the shoulder and in the side of his waist. This Orc (3) must be build like a bull because he is not even slowed down.

Lorae’s green wooden blade cuts the Orc is front of her deeply across the shoulder and chest and the second hit takes him in the left thigh cause him to fall.

Brianna's swords work like spinning blades, she concentrates on one target hoping to drop him and then go for another, but the Orc is tough and it take 3 punishing blows to drop him. In turn Brianna take 7 points from the Orc Adept.

Off to the left of the field an Orc flies into the air and falls to the ground dead. His companion then falls to the ground screaming. Then the screaming stops.

Shadowbane and Moon Dancer each trample two more Goblin’s.

Highnar’s twin axes chop away dropping two Orcs.

Xuor’s spell goes off and a Black bear appear striking Orc dead in one blow of its massive paws and then a Goblin is ripped apart with his second claw attack, and finally he bites another goblin.

Cerric’s Magic Missles strike a Goblin (24) and it falls limply to the ground.

And so it continues with the party still standing and fighting against a number of foes.

Zara disappears and there is only the softest noise as she exits the window. Slowly she floats over to where Septimpus's room is just beyond Jason's. There she sets the first of her wards at the outside corner of his room but on the return she decides to ward all three rooms and sets the next ward at the far end of their room.

That done she goes back inside and the asks Dae to open the door and look out of it, once the hall is clear she put a ward on the wall of his room at the far end and then comes back and does the same to the opposite end of their wall.

Still invisible Zara slips back into the room.

"Well, that is done," she says reappearing. "If you wake with a thumb prick then someone is breaking into one of the three rooms. You know the old saying; By the pricking of my thumb, something wicked this way comes.

Zara tags behind Dae with a crestfallen look. She had been planning on having a room for herself. As Dae speaks to the innkeeper, Zara looks at his book and sees what room Septimus is in. Then she follows Dae upstairs to their room.

Once inside Zara to looks to Dae, "I'm going to open the window and I will be right back. I want to put up wards around Septimus's room."

"You are correct in that, Zara," replies the prince smiling, "go to the Stable of the Golden Alicorn, there you will find mounts waiting. The Innkeeper can tell you the way. Take your pick of the best and take a couple of spares in case any of your horses are killed or injuried,"

"Rooms are already ordered for you, with such a diminished number you can each have you own room or you can double up. That is for you to decide.

"Now I have to depart, I will not see you off in the morning, the fewer that can connect me to you the better it will be."

The Prince walks to the door, "May the Light and the One watch over you." he opens the door and then closes it behind him.

Sometimes remembering every said or read could prove embarrassing to others. Dae had a lot on her mind and Zara was sure she was in there somewhere causing Dae to worry over her.

She look to Dae and then the Prince, "All we need is the name of the place where we are going to pick then up."

"And I," adds Zara the open drawer of tiny ships.

"Did you know that the common language of most humans is based on the language of Shahdar and that their symbol was of the symbol of the Light.

"Wind Lord," she speaks in Ancient Shahndaran, though all here understood the words although there seemed to be a slight fdifference in them, and up from the drawer comes one of the tiny ships.

"Show yourself."

As the ship hovered over the globe a disturbance rippled the air and above the globe began to form the 3 dimensional image of a great airship. The image was over 20 feet long, and 15 feet from top to bottom including all the sail above decks and those on the sides and bottom.

"It was the ultimate in aerial warships in the time before the cataclysm, and look at the flag." Flying from the steering sail was a large flag waving as one would with the wind behind the sails. It was royal purple randomly studded with stars and in its center was a White Prismatic Dragon circling a large 4 point gold star imposed over a smaller silver star of four points which jetted out from between the gold points.

"It was the pride of Shahndar's aerial fleet."

"The small one was purchased by me a 153 years ago from the now famous cartographer Maxel Chandler of Wexton." The other one is on loan from the Elves.

"This globe," he points to the big one, "Though there are a number of names in different places, most are meaningless to us though some seem to be connected by a similar sounding name."

"There is more to the globe." At the top of the pedestal there are a number of little drawers, almost hidden to the eye. He opens one and takes out a tiny mithral piece and passes it around. It is an intricately fashioned tiny city on a cloud. When it comes back to him put in beside the globe and lets go of it. The tiny cloud city begins to move about the globe always keeping its cloud between it and the city as if it were floating over the world.

He next takes out a tiny ship and also passes it around. Septimus would quickl notice the oddity of the ship, for there are sails on masts on the side and under the hull. Such ships could not sail on the seas. The prince also puts this one on the globe. and it proceeds to make it way around the world.

"Toys and not quite toys," says the Prince. "This is the last bit that is the most unusual feature. The Prince takes out what looks like two minature poles and a second matching set. On the bottom of the globe he pushes a small button. On various places two small poles appear out of the globe. He takes out a small figure of a man and set it in from of one of the poles "Now watch" The Prince taps the figure between one of the sets of posts and it disappeared. He spins the globe to the other side. The figure now stands between another sets of post on the continent on the other side of the world from Kalos."

"Now if you will notice one of these sets of poles here on this globe has been reference on this smaller globe by using various mountain ranges here on this modern globe very near the area we know as the Barrens." This is what has me most concerned. If someone has found a way to access these gates then we might have invaders from a distant land at our back door. Or they could just be settlers. This is what we have to know, what is being built up in the Barrens and who is doing it?

"Now I will ask again who is willing to undertake this mission now because it is inherently more dangerous?"

(OOC: the big globe sits in a pedestal on the floor, and was not passed around like the first. I may not have made that clear.)

Zara had hung back allowing the others to get close, she watched their expressions as each touched the globe in turn. She listened to each as they spoke. When Septimus made the comment “What is its use?” Zara spoke from off to the side.

“It shows us what the world looked like about 30,000 years ago, before the cataclysm. It is also a teaching tool......and a toy You speak the name of a place and it shows it to you.”

She moves forward and puts her hand on the globe almost lovingly. Then she spins it. “Shahndar,”

The frictionless spinning globe slows noticeably and as Zara faces it, it stops and the upper third of a medium size continent east of the eastern coast of Eastern Kalos begins to glow.

“Norennor,” she says and the globe turns on it own so that the axis pole in Norlan faced Zara.

To copy all all those books and scrolls that are not noted on the list we sent with them. Each has a Mage with them that can do a Copy Spell or has a magic scriber."

"Yes, please touch it I think you will find it as interesting as I did."

(Anyone touching it will find that one can feel minute mountains and as a finger touches water it feels wet and with it come the smell of the sea, in the North and South, cold, and in the desert lands, heat and dryness. Jason and anyone with Elf blood will feel the touch and scents of a forest, when their finger touches certain areas. There are also the scents of grasslands, taiga, and tundra.)

Subject: Battle Hymn

Elessarae's battle hymn reached out to the others with her (Bardic: Inspire Courage) to hearten them in battle. She kept the Goblin captain in her sight, yet knew she had to watch out for all the others least they overwhelm her with numbers.

Come now, come now, taste of my blade.
Feel your life's blood begin to fade.

Good, Over Evil shall prevail.
You and your kind will surely fail.

Here prevails Elven sovereignty
Throughout our entire longevity

This is where we make our stand.
To rid you from our sacred land.

Since the battle with the owls, Elessarae had taken to wearing her healing wand around her neck on a cord, which had proved a wise move, especially since she could now activate it without having to get it out of a pouch. Elessarae danced back 5 feet her sword acting like a shield as she moved, incase that the Orc was not as staggered as she thought. Once free she activates the wand and will do so again as soon as possible.

Rage had the habit a narrowing focus and not allowing one to adapt fighting style, all fighting was based on brute force, and the need to kill. Elessar planned to use that rage against him.

Now her sword to the ready for the Goblin to close she watch him cock back his sword to make mighty swing at her at the end of his charge. As he began his charge she suddenly rushed forward, leaped into the air, and brought her blade down with all her force and the force of her dropping down to earth. She figured that it was the last thing he would expect of her since backing away from him as wounded as she was. Even if her tried to swing after she was there, she would be inside of his swing, and she would have time to do a healing and her next attack, which be to shorten up on her sword and use it as a dagger in a piercing stroke.

Killing the Goblin captain quickly would be demoralizing to the goblins. It was an advantage they desperately needed.

Come now, come now, taste of my blade.
Feel your life's blood begin to fade.

Good, Over Evil shall prevail.
You and your kind will surely fail.

My sword has tasted of you blood
From your wounds it shall flood.

Death will come from my swift bade,
I will watch your ill life fade.

Subject: The Prince Speaks

"Please, all of you go continue eating; I do believe you can listen at the same time."

"A few months ago I had the privilege of meeting a most remarkable lady. She brought me something that had piqued her curiosity and in turn mine.

"It goes way beyond the Barrens in importance, even further back in time to a point where the land masses of our world were not in the shape as they are now. I have had scholars searching our most ancient texts for the reference to this happening. The result of that search has lead to a startling discovery.

"20 to 25 thousand years ago there was a titanic catastrophe. Our earliest records seem only to go to that time, though there are stories and epics of times before that. Our Sages are at a loss as to why we do not have records from before that time. There is speculation that we came to this land after escaping what was the destruction of our homeland. It seems, from all accounts that Elfland completely disappeared. What we have claimed as our lands over the millennia is not our land of origination."

He pauses to look to each of the people gathered in the room.

He claps his hands and two servants enter with a large box about 3.5x3.5x5 feet. It is a stunning crafted and carved chest inlayed with gold and set with cabochons of precious gems. They set it on the floor as another box is brought in though it is a bit smaller and it is put on the table. The servants then depart.

He opens the smaller box and draws out a globe which he passes around so that all could see it. It was something Septimus would give his eyeteeth to have, a beautiful globe with all the lands of Western and Eastern Kalos (A super continent) and the enigmatic Sea of Annihilation, an almost perfect circle left after the cataclysm which was caused, so the tales say by a titanic war between Good and Evil. The Good was the Empire of Shahndar and her allies, and the Evil were the dreaded Krayelens named after their terrible fire god, Krayel. Those stories abounded even to this day. Mothers used Krayel like a boogeyman to get bad children to behave.

Below Kalos were the 2 small continents; one was the Sunken Lands, the mountains of which were now islands and the other was Arven, and over the top was the icy continent of Norlan, but it was only a one sided globe for few sailors ever dared sailing east across the Great Ocean where Shahndar was said to have been. There was also a vague coastline detailing the edge of a continent west of Western Kalos.

When all have seen the first globe he stands and goes to the large chest. "Please, come join me." and when all are gathered he then speaks in Ancient Draconic, "Sesam,"

With that walls and top of the chest open like petals and reveal a magnificent Globe. As they watch the walls continue to fold up back under the globe forming a pedestal, lifting the globe off the ground. The inside walls were even more inlayed and decorated with precious gems, some to them faceted. It is a magnificent work of art which magically floated over the base. Around the globe was cunning wrought bright metal circle carved in the shape of a thin stylized dragon holding its own tail in its mouth. The metal is brilliant white and the individual scales so precisely cut that their mirror like finish shot off prismatic colors. There is only one metal that is so white and bright, the rarest of all mithral, White Mithral. The globe spun round on a mithral axis suspended inside the circle of the dragon, truly suspended, as the axis did not attach to the circle. Magic held the globe's axis in place as the prince spun it.

The Prince lets his guests examine the globe. Septimus would quickly recognize that this globe showed no Sea of Annihilation, and there were continents all around it.

(OCC if you have any question put them in Rylanor Q&A.)

Zara smiled at each man in turn, it is as simple as it is genuine. And those smiles lighted up her face. She does not let the consternation of what happened eearlier interfer with what was happening now. As he mother often said, "Let the water go under the bridge," and she did.

"I know my skills as a Sorceress and an weilder of divine energies is not the same as what Dae seeks," she looks to Dae and shrugs her fine shoulders. "But I can do both to some extent."

She gets up and fills and plate for the man of nature, adding more of the vegetables and fruit, thinking that would probably be more his kind of food.

She places the plate before him and leans close, "Eat fast, then he will tell us what he did not tell us in his home."

She then returns to her seat and sits primly on the edge of her chair. She looks to the Prince in anticipation.

Lorae cast a spell she had readied and every one in the party is suddenly feeling that this battle is going well, and there is a hope of beating down the enemy. Good Hope (Bard 3) gives +2 on all attacks, saves, skill checks, and damage.

"Remind me to teach you to use a bow one day soon," Lorae replies after her spell goes off.

With Brianna and Highnar in the thick of it, others prepare to whittle down the numbers. Vatta's bow sings out 3 times At he intended target in the center of the 1st arrow penetrates in the left thigh. the 2nd in the right side, and the 3rd in the chest. Despite the 3 arrows the Orc just bellows in rage and moves steadily forward.

Brianna's blades do a dance of death as two Orcs and a Gollin fall.

Highnar takes out the Orc facing him and deals moderate damage to the two closest Goblins.

Xuor casts Summons Nature's Ally. It will appear next round.

Shadowbane and Moon Dancer charge into the group of Orcs in the center of the field. Shadowbane kicks one down and Moon Dancer kicks two and takes them down prehaps not out completely but down for a while. They are now headed for the third grouping of Goblins and Orcs on the right side of the field.

Flame, having left Cerric's side, added his own type of damage to the left side of the field. Hidden from view ,a handful of Goblins and Orcs go flying through the air, of which only two rise.

Faced with his first real life battle Cerric is a bit shaken.(no post of action)

Brianna take two points of damage in the left thigh from a critical hit by a buffed out Goblin to her front left

I discussed the plan of battle and the layout of the village with the other before we got there. I talk to the Mage about what spells she had and what would be of the most use. I gave previous instrutions to the the guards, I told the guards to fire the inn with their first bottles of oils and reserve the others for other possible targets. The Mage I left to choose what spells to use when she thought would do the best damage or, to aid myself or the guards.

If it was not clear for the Mage then I will give her a signal to do what she can.

Is the enraged goblin shaken enough to be still off balance if I try to break away to give myself enough time to use my wand on me? In other words, not giving him a chance to do an AoO.

Subject: Companions

Please jump right in. And thank you for the clue to O&A, I often forget to check it out.

From what I know companions start out as a follower, they probably would protect you as needed, if they are of that type that can. Only with training can they be used to follow commands. I say that Daug has had some training, like basic dog commands. I would say that you may have been trying to train him to attack, but you are not in a position, being in a tree, to give him the direction by pointing at the target as you have been training him to do.

Magic in my game. if you know the spell you can use it. I go by a pool of points. Lvl 0=1/2pt, Lvl 1=1, Lvl 2=2 etc.

So using the number of spells you have a day you can use your points as needed. If you have a pool 10 points you can use them to cast any spell you know. Spells do not disappear when you cast them. You can use the same spell over and over until your points are used up.

With the plate filled she got up and went over to Septimus, as the plate she had filled was for him.

"Your NEED to replenish yourself from healing." Zara said handing the plate to him.

That said she returned to her place, as others served themselves. She finally put a wing and drumstick and a piece of game pie on her plate. She nibbled at them as the others ate. Her mind was racing along with whys and wheres and what ifs.

Elessarae found herself shielded sheltered from the Golbin arrors by the barn, As she more to the side for her second throw, having lit the 3rd battle of oil, She suddenly sees a flash of the town square and the several groups of goblins that were gathered there. In that flash she had seens the troll standing on the other side of the village.

Then a crashing sound snapped her attention back to herself. From the inn, only several feet away, a goblin came crashing through a window, shattering the glass. He somersaulted onto the forest floor, covered in glass, but it did not seem to bother him. He seemed slightly larger than the goblins she had witnessed thus far. In his hands was a broad sword, and his gaze was upon Elessarae and her steed.

He strategies needed alteration, now was the time for tactics. As the big Goblin was closer to Elessarae she throws her last flask of oil at him and then dismounts by swinging her left leg over her saddle, grabbing the horn in her off hand and the swinging down facing forwad, while drawing her sword in one graceful, well practiced, movement.

She plans to move up on the Goblin while he deals with the fiery bottle. Even it it does not hit him directly, it could have an affect on him as he dodges to get away from it. She waits letting the Goblin come to her. As she waits she will slap Gharion on the rump sending him away from her and the Goblin and into the forest. Taking down the big Goblin could be used to demoralize the rest of the Goblins. If she has time she will cut off his head and carry it by the hair.

In her mind's eye she saw the tactics of the upcoming battle. Her focus was now on the Goblin Leader, he was now her first target and the Troll was next, and as she faces her enemy a song wells in her, a song she had heard long ago when a human opera was preformed in the the Elven Capital. It was a sweeping song of Good triumphant over Evil, of distaining death to obtain said triumph.

Come now, come now, taste of my blade.
Feel your life's blood begin to fade.

Good, Over Evil shall prevail.
You and your kind will surely fail.

I call upon Meivan Tarai (Rydor) to jugde my cause,
Knowing that I break no laws.

I call upon Nim'melin (Theassor) for him to see,
That my battle is fought righteously.

I call upon Solinari (Solinis)to grace me with his light,
As I fight the enemy who brought upon this Blight.

I call upon Heren'salky (Shinara) for good fortune,
Against the overwhelming odds of the Goblin nation.

I call upon Aina'Vakha (Merca) to judge me
That I rightly uphold my honor as I do my duty.

I call upon Adaron (Kith-Jora) to aid me today
For your trees now blighted in the Goblin's evil way.

Come now, come now, taste of my blade.
Feel your life's blood begin to fade.

Good, Over Evil shall prevail.
You and your kind will surely fail.

Elessarae added those Dieties she had prayed to before at one time or another. She had an ecletic faith, and no one single deity she followed.

As she sings a stange calm settles upon her, again her focus is sharpened to crystal clarity. She sees her enemy, knows what she must do, and yet does not loose sight of what is happening around her.
