Subject: Elessarae and the Fairies

Londelirinen Kingdom
Duin Shee Dalnya
6th day of the 8th month: Temoth Ore
7:26 pm

Fairies, as a child Elessarae had longed to meet one having only seen them from a distance when she had been watching some Moon Horses on a visit to their river. It did not matter to her that Elves viewed Fairy Folk and capricious as much as humans considered elves the same way. She was entranced by their delicate appearances, with their diaphanous wings and their exquisite bodies as shown in drawings of them.

Now it seem the creatures were as interested in Comrade as he was of them.

“Good evening to you Duin Shee (River Fairies), I am sorry if we disturbed you.” Elessarae gave a polite bow of her head.

“We are seeking a safe place to rest for the night. Is such a place nearby? Our travels has been long and difficult and we are in need of rest. Elessarae knew it was foolish to try to go further in the night, but she also wanted a safe place to rest.

Elessarae moves Morya up so she can drink. She pats the mare on the neck and loosen the reins enough so she had reach down and drink from the edge of the river.

I thought both bear bodies had been taken out already and burned.

If there is still one in here with maggots we will have to kill all those and burn those body too.

Alea, when she has done all she caan of Riddle goes back and does another Cure Light Wounds on Billy.

Afterwards she looks about to young trees or large saplings.
Having fought these creatures she realizes that spears would be of great use. So if she finds what is needed she will try to get about an 7-8 foot long straight piece, cut off the branches, then sharpen the end and the fire harden it.

When the dust is spotted she will continue to work quickly, until some can see the if is a wagon and not another group of beasts come back to try again.

As the wagon come to where they are, she will leave the crafting of her spear and approaches the wagon.

"Good sir, would you know of the poison of these beasts and how to counteract it?"

Alea started toward Billy when Riddle fell. She immediately changes direction a look over Riddle. If Riddle is not turned to stone and she thinks his condition was caused by poison, Alea will cut his wound and let the blood flow out, then bind it with a drawing poltice which she will make from mud.

If, indeed Riddle has been turned to stone, she can do nothing for him and will go back to Billy.

"Blessed Corellon, grace me with your healing power." intones Alea holding up her holy symbol and then cast Cure light wounds on Billy.

Then she will go back to Riddle and try to see if there is anything she can do about his condition.

Logan and Lorae each down two of the last four of the enemy facing them, leaving them each with unused attacks. Vatta first on the Orcs in the center of the field as the long shadows fill the glade. Highnar and Brainna move together to meet the last of the Orcs and each Orc falls on the second stroke of sword and ax. Xuor has two shots and downs two of the running Goblins, and third is taken out by one of the bears. A third Orc by Brianna and Highnar is taken down by another bear.

Two celestial hounds burst out of the ray of light and gallop onto the field. They split up and go to those Goblins and Orcs that where down but not yet dead. Diagonally from the hounds a gout of fire takes out the last two Goblins.

The glade goes quiet.

(Congrats smart playing of characters considering the enemy could have easily overwhelmed you. Congrats to Highnar who is now 9th level. Tann I need to know what points you want to put where (4) and what new feat you want. To bad you need 17 Dex to get Improved 2 Weapons Fighting, but you could take 2 weapons defense.

Subject: Elessarae

The sun was setting when Elessarae rose, someone had put a plate of bread covered with a cloth, a pot of honey, and a mug of ale on the little table, and straightens up the papers on it. Elessarae dressed and ate quickly. She had woken with a revelation, it may be that the High King and His Council had already though of it, but what she had just experienced would put credit to those ideas.

On another piece of paper she wrote a brief synopsis of what had transpired about the Mutated Animals of Unusual Size and the discovery of the creation of those creatures by Goblins poisoning a tree and that it might not be the only tree in the Sylvari lands to suffer from the poisoning. She added all she knew of the Lotus of Light and urges that druids be sent to the swamp to propagate it, and warriors sent to protect both Druids and flowers. She speaks about burning all infected creatures immediately. She adds about the Goblin’s reaction about being hit on the head by a diseased acorn. When every piece of information she can think of is set to paper she adds one more line, set in a bold printed style and not in her usual fluid script.

It is my belief that the there is a far more sinister and powerful presence behind this initial attack. Its insidious aspect is far beyond the ability of Goblin minds to develop.

This paper she copies and the original is folded and inserted into her previous letter. Then she pens another missive to the High Druid with the same information about the poisoned trees, but is was not the only thing she writes of, as much as she did not want to lose Comrade too, she knew that when they got to the mountains it would be no place for a half-grown colt, Moonhorse or not. She alerts him that she maybe sending Comrade down there, if it could be arranged.

When this is done she goes to find Comrade wherever he is and for a while just stands with him, touching him, so as not to feel so alone.

Later she finds the Steward of the Runya Nost she asks for a number of things to be done before she goes off in the morning. “I need a horse,” she says a flatly as possible, not wanting to dwell too long on the reason she needed it. “a set of clothes if possible, and lastly I must have a courier to relay a message case from here to Lote-Ishtel and they must send it on immediately to Sillarion Somien Enrai with a letter to the High King and one to the High Druid, Have the courier ready to leave at dawn tomorrow. I will give them the messages then.”

“Also, Sir, I would like to address the assembly of the Tower, in the bailey at dawn tomorrow, I wish to honor the fallen guards.”

With that said she returns to her room. There she gives her prayers of gratitude for her deliverance to all the gods she had called on, most of all to the Light who had answered her once on the River of Light when she had been fighting for the life of the Comrade’s mother and her own.

She had been sent out from Megilindar Nost to learn of what the Goblins were doing in the Charkhan Mountains, and found that they had already invaded Sylvaria.

Before going to sleep another tumble of words came to her and with deft strokes of her pen she lined the paper, scribed the notes in them and then wrote the words under the notes, three verses of them. It was not the whole song she scribed, but that would be written later.

That night she slept again and woke in the dark of the morning, by the light of a lamp she dressed and prepared for travel, taking the time to clean and oil her blade. She put the letter and the papers she wanted sent together and the other papers she wanted copied and disseminated. Downstairs a servant stood ready with a plate of food and a cup of warm mulled cider another servant took her saddlebags outside. Elessarae ate knowing she needed to. She then found the Steward and handed him the packet to go to the king and the other papers.

“This one is an account of the tree and should be copied and sent to every tower, city, town and village. The others are a copies of the my eulogy and a bit of a song

Outside others were already gathered. There was a black mare with a star on her face wearing her saddlebags, next to her was Comrade, though he seemed to resent the black. Could he be upset it was not Gharion, or was he jealous that another horse was in his place? She noted some faces, Luronya, and the Guard Captain that sent her out of the tower to go to the village for a place to sleep that seemed a life time ago, even the artist that had drawn her picture with Gharion and Comrade in the garden.

She stood on the steps and saw many more faces that she thought would be here. Comrade moved up the steps to her and no one stopped him. Elessarae put her hand on his neck and murmured her thank you.

“This is for those who risked all to save you,” her voice rang out in the courtyard as crisp and clear as the morning air, “though one fact I left out. You know we faced a Troll, and thought him to be the greatest danger we faced, and for Hivalus and Mirnando he was, but he was only a captive driven by the Goblins to do their bidding. Once free he saved the life of Luronya, bringing her safely to me. If you see a Troll about and he answers to the name of Goroptk, than salute him and let him continue to hunt goblins.”

“Now for the rest, this is for those that died and well as for those that remain.”

“For the Sake of the Sylvari

For the Sake of the Sylvari four set out, to put an enemy to route,
A mage and two guards with her, and a newly made Bladesinger.
To fight a foe and heal a tree.

And to the village they came, the village without a name,
For those who lived there had died and no one cried
As all were dead.

To face an overwhelming force, two guards went out of course,
It was their duty and they died and one cried out,
For the shame of it.

Scores of Goblins and a Troll, did take their toll.
The guards had little chance, so great was the enemies’ advance.
They gave their lives for the Sylvari.

Their sacrifice helped to save the day, helped keep the enemy at bay
For Bladesinger and Mage, had their own battles to wage,
Until the day was won.

By the Grace of the Deities of Good, at the end of the day two still stood
To see the poisoned tree set right, with a Potion of the Lotus of Light,
For the sake of the Sylvari.

The day was done, the battle won, with the setting of the sun.
Time to return, time to rest, having passed another test.
Two went back where four had come.

Say their names with pride, the two guards that died,
For the Sylvari they did save, Hivalus the Bold and Mirnando the Brave.
Salute them, all Sylvari.

And forget not Luronya the still standing Mage who singly faced a Troll enraged.
Her magics helped to save the day and cause the Goblins to run away.
She, too, saved the Sylvari.

And Gharion who carried me from the start, his loss broke my heart
Valiant steed that he was, died for the cause
Leaving Comrade and I alone.

Oh, I lament for those that died, I am the one who for them cried.
Oh, why did they die alone, so far from their home?
Oh, where were the Sylvari?

Rise up Sylvari, defend you land, the enemy is now at hand
Take sword and bow, hunt them high and low.
The Sylvari are under attack.”

She lets her words sink in, lets each of them react to what they heard.

While they do Elessarae moves down the stairs and to the horse, as the top of Flame Tower goes red gold in the first rays of the sun.

As she take the reins from the groom holding the horse, he whispers her name to Elessarae, “Her name is Morya.” Comrade crowds in on her and Elessarae put out her hand to stroke hi face. “Gharion is no more, and you are not old enough to ride.” She speaks to him as if he could understand.

Automatically she checks cinch and packs and swings lightly into the saddle. Then she draws her sword in the clear morning air and thrusts it upwards

“The time of complacent isolation is gone, The Sylvari must gird for war.” Elessarae voice rings out,

(to the chorus of Men of Harlech)

Rise Sylvari, guard your Forests!
War has come both Dread and Glorious.
We must stand and be Victorious,
Warriors of the Light.

Rise Sylvari, to defend us
Least the enemy do rend us
Doing all that is horrendous
In this, they must fail.

Rise Sylvari, take your Stand,
Cast out the Evil from our Land,
With Sword and Bow now in Hand,
Warriors of the Light.

As she sings the verses of the yet unfinished Battle Hymn the sun reaches the tip of her sword and lights it like a fire.

With the song ended she sheathes her shining blade, then one of the Mages comes up to her holding out a vial of a shining liquid, a second potion of the Lotus of Light, he then passes her a scarf to wrap around it as padding. This Elessarae puts into her belt pouch. She nods to the assembly, spins the mare about and rides out of the gate of Runya Nost with Comrade at her side. She turns the mare to the North road urges her to a canter. Elessarae wanted to do two days travel in one to make up for lost time and because sleeping alone at night would be too dangerous and the next town was two days away.

USS Cerberus – Deck 3 Centurion's Cabin – 1057 hours

S'Talon left his security shadow in the hall as he slipped into the Centurion's cabin and crossed to the door to peer in at her.

She was still asleep so he went to the table and pulled out the Romulan equivalent of a PADD and did what he did best, something that would have surprised even The Centurion, and little surprised her. There had been a insidious plan to get the Centurion court marshalled and then discharged as medically unfit.

That had angered the old Marine like nothing had in some time. She was a damn fine officer one capable of hight command, who had been shoved off into a lackluster position and all because of politics and family feuds. Despite someone assigning her to a dead end position, her abilities still shown through and when that Kep-tuk't of a officer turned belly up at the first sign danger, she was there to step in and save the ship.

He was into his own work when the door signal announced someone was outside wanting in.

When Jason is done, and has rejoined the group, the four of them set out for the closest gate. They had already taken up too much time. Dae and Septimus must already be at the shrine.

She looks forward to actually setting out on this trek, she hums merrily as they move through the crowds of shoppers until they come to the east gate and exit the city. For all purposes they most like the party of a young noblewoman with her guard, a tutor and her religous teacher, and a strange pet woverine tagging along. That is the way Zara played it out.

I want to be able to get Elessare on the road so I am adding a secondary post, but there are questions that I need answered so I can write it properly without stepping on your toes.

1. She asks for a horse, will she get one? Same with an extra set of clothes.

2. She asks for courier ready to ride out the morning of the 6th. Also Do the towers have another way to sending important messages other than by courier?

3. she asks that the tower personnel assemble on the morning she will take off. Will it happen, it does not matter if is is just a small group or large, I just need to know about who of importance and how many.

4. If I remember right the village was not on the main road to her next destination, Yes? No?

5. How many days ride is it to the next place to rest safely.

Gads I hope it takes them a few days to cxheck out stuff, or I will never catch up with them. How manys days ride are they away from me.

I wrote that poem last week on Saturday awaiting the end of the scenario, I only added the bit about Gharion as this week's post revealed that he had died. It is easy to create literate responses from the the quality of posts from Almerin. I was crying over Gharion the whole time I wrote the the narrative. Londelirinen Kingdom
Flame Tower
4-5th day of the 8th month: Temoth Ore
7:35 pm to 6:30 am

Elessarae moved up to the fallen gelding, through a building film of tears she knelt and stroked his mane and scratched the place and the junction of his neck and withers that he had like so much. Tears then fell, for all the innocent lives that had been lost even to her beloved Gharion.

“Adaron, receive Gharion’s soul for he was kind, faithful, and valiant.” With each word tears fell on the chestnut’s neck.

She turns to find her white shadow beside her, and lays a hand on the Moonhorse's neck. "We must go on alone."

She returned to the village with her packs, not sure how she got there, maybe Comrade lead her and still unclothed not taking tht time to dress, as the Mage was alone with the goblin. Only when she was back and the Mage was still well did she take the time to dress. She swung her packs and tied them to the guard’s horse. She took out another rope and tied it fairly tightly about the goblin’s neck so that there were two long ends. One she fastened to the pommel of the Mage’s saddle, she takes the other end and after mounting ties it to the pommel of her saddle. The goblin is stretched between them whether riding front to back, or side to side.

For the entire return Elessarae with inwardly withdrawn and outwardly alert. So they returned, and in the pinkish dawn they spied the Flame Tower and as they rode up to the gates the first fiery rays of the sun inflamed the top of the tower even as it bottom had been so decorated. Inflamed as it should be and as all of the Sylvari nation should be.

Elessarae dismounted and passed the reins to someone. Looking up she saw face of the other gurads, she bowed her head to them, "I am sorry we could not bring them back with us."

To whoever else was there, "Please allow Comrade to be where he would be, he is my Ward. As for me, a bath, pen and ink, and a bed."

In that order for there were words in her minds that she had gathered into rhyme and her need to set them to paper was an almost consuming passion. She bathed, scrubbing hard to wash away any threat of taint scouring herself till her skin was red, hoping to wash away some of the memories of this day. Someone had kindly provided her with a night gown which she donned and then went to the table to set to paper the words and rhymes that had been inscribed in her mind with blood and tears.

For the Sake of the Sylvari

For the Sake of the Sylvari four set out, to put an enemy to route,
A mage and two guards with her, and a newly made Bladesinger.
To fight a foe and heal a tree.

She, too, saved the Sylvari.

And not to forget one other soul who carried me to my goal.
Brave Gharion, faithful mount from the start
Gone now from the world, but not from my heart.

Oh, I lament for those that died, I am the one who for them cried.
Oh, why did they die alone, so far from their home?
Oh, where were the Sylvari?

The Goblins poisoned a mighty oak and they killed the village folk.
It poisoned the land and the animals it touched
With tainted acorns splatting the ground.

Beware Sylvari there may be more than one, to which the poisoning was done
There may be other such trees in the kingdoms
Where the mutated beasts lust for blood.

Rise up Sylvari, defend you land, the enemy is now at hand
Take up sword and bow, hunt them high and low.
The Sylvari are under attack.

Elessarae Isiliri
Bladesinger

Following that she writes a short poignant letter to his Majesty the High King of the Sylvari.

Your Royal Majesty,

What I have already written on another page says all that I have to say.

Elessarae copied the poem, but put the tear stained original in the letter folded it and sealed it with her signet ring. The copy was for a eulogy for the dead.

What was between the lines of her poem was even more scathing, for it spoke to not being prepared, delaying the building of defenses, not having the men and resources to even combat this initial foray by the Goblins. Flame Tower should have been able to send forth a troop, not two guards and a non combatant Mage.

When all was written, Elessarae dragged herself to the bed and lay down to sleep with a prayer for sleep with no dreams.

Nothing in the way of the Bladesingers' final test came even close to what Elessarae had experienced only a few days into her first assignment. Like a sword blade she had been heated then forged and tempered then sent to do battle, but found that she was to be heated, reforged and temeper again and again in rapid succession until she was the steel she had become this day. There was a lifetime of life changing events that had transpired, and she knew that she was not who she had been the day she left Megilindar Nost. That child had been reforged in the fires of conflict and pounded into a finely honed weapon to deal with the enemies of the Sylvari.

Talon is there to meet the Romulan contingent when they return from stowing the cloaking devices. He has packed his and the Centurions gear on a grav sled and leads the others quickly down to deck 5 to stow their gear.

His commands are few "You have already been briefed and I expect every one of you to remember that briefing and follow it to the letter. The ship's lounge is on this level. Mind you own business, these are ostensibliy our Allies, and don't go thinking of playing spy, nor worry about them stealing the secrets of the Cloaking Devices," that might scandalize a few of them, "but the Federation could have come up with an equivalent had they wanted such a device."

"Cause any trouble and not only will I allow the Starfleet captain to have the last word on your punishement, but that will come only after you have had a training session with me."

"Now you're split in double rooms so stow you stuff and then relax, I know the Centurion has planned of a number of dry run sessions before the actual installation."

The Romulans turn to the rooms, only they know their own thoughts on what they had heard. Though by reputation they knew of Talon's training sessions.

"Eerie Arrain Rhiana Khellian, A word with you."

When the others are gone he nods "The Centurian had another seizure. I got her to take her medicines, but I want to get back and watch her, though when I left, her back had relaxed. When you are done here, bring your medical scanner up to Deck 3 a quarter way round after turning right, down at the end of a short hall, room 013."
