Subject: Kas

Kas was relieved to have everyone safely on her side of the the pit.

"Good work," she praises those that went to make sure that there were no captives left behind. She mounts Sunfire, undoes the rope from his saddle and holds it as she backs the big warhorse so as to drag the ladder back to their side, She can feel the stallion's hindquarter bunch up under her as he backs up, finally the ladder is safely across and she drops the rope

Then came the words that echoed through the cave. “Whoring tease of a wench!” Kas drops the rope like it was a viper and spins her stallion about with practiced ease. She reached over her back and pued the bastard sword from its “O” ring. There is a thunderous clatter of hooves that beat a drum tattoo to herald Kas’s entry into the theater of battle.

Kas is no tiny female, but and tall, well muscled, battle hardened warrior. Horse and rider burst out of the cave like and avenging angels. Kas's golden eyes blazed with an inner fire.

“Tyr!” she cries as she bursts out into the open. Her ability to see in the dark gave her a great advantage in the dark of the night. She quickly notes the newcomers and assays their positions and intent. She turns Sunfire toward the closest of the enemy.

What type of world was this where every day was fraught with danger?

“Cease your attack and surrender or you will suffer Tyr’s judgement!” Still fresh in her mind was the knowledge imparted to her by Tyr himself. She knew that such a challenge was right and proper.

All the time she is closing on her intended target. It does not give the man much time to act, not with the great golden stallion closing on him with the rider brandishing a bastard sword with the grace and ease of a well trained warrior. Sunfire feels her quickening as they ride into battle. The power of the magnificent warhorse would also be a signal to her advisaries, that they were a force to be reckoned with.

If the man does not comply by throwning down his weapon, as would be proper, that Kas with continue her attack.

Alea leans close to the war horse and rides him forward with her hands and feet. Ever so often she looks behind to see if they are being followed.

Siliswen had the right of it, to do everything possible to erase their tracks.

Kas felt powerless, she wanted to be able to help the people that saved her life, but she was was needed to keep the ladder ready so that the injured Artanis could be gotten to saftey. She did the only thing she could do under the circumstances, pray to Tyr.

Kas was surprised when Xaris appeared supporting the injuried Artanis. Kas winced at the sight of the badly burned young woman. When Xaris calls for a rope she points to the end of the ladder by him. "Take the one from there."

As Xaris prepares to rope Artanis, Kas hears two high pitched screams.

"Hurry Xaris, Loriel may need our help."

As Xaris prepares for Artanis to crawl across the ladder, Loriel appears with a young boy in tow.

Kas lets out a long sigh of relief, thought she was prepared to cross the ladder after Artanis was safe, to go to Loriel's aid.

"My thank's Tyr."

(Happy 1000 to me)

Lorae leaves the others to drink and gathers up what has yet to be selected and stows it in her bag. She goes outside and finds Moon Dancer standing there.

"The liveryman is not going to be happyto find you out of your stall and gone."

The big silver-white stallion lowered his fine face into her hands, his forelock falling passed his nose. His nostril flared wide as he whuffled into her hands. One hands moved up to scratch him behind his ears. Soon the stallion was flapping his lips and wiggling his ears in comical look created by his intense pleasure.

"Seems to me that there is a sand wallow and bit up this side of the river. How about a good roll about?"

Soon both were striding down the road on the west side of the river to the place Lorae remembered from her first time at Ashbenford. Moon Dancer suddenly broke into a trot and
seemed to literally dive down into the sand beach created at the bend in the river.

He rolled and rolled in sheer delight and when he had burrowed his back into the sand he lay there, feet folded above his belly, waiting. Lorae pounced on him, holding her hands like claws she began to rub him all over his belly. When she had scratch every inch of his underside Moon Dancer slowly rolled down on his side and Lorae sat to rest on his shoulders. She rembered the last time before coming to this world, when she had allowed Moon Dancer a good roll, with her attendent massage. That was before she had meet, Jeril and Brianna and Dirk, and had gone to the Tower of a Wizard who turned out to be Brianna's father. Then that had been sent out to rescue a capture Elven Lord, who turned out to be the Elf that rescued Lorae for the life of a homeless orphan in a large human city. That same lord turned out to be the King of the Elves.

Taran. King Taran, who had, when they had last been together, spoke of his love for Lorae, loved her/him despite the curse that cause Lorae to change sexes. Her heart tightened and a tear was squeezed from an eye. Would he be still waiting, if, when she ever returned.

The tear dropped onto Moon Dancer's neck and the big stallion rolled up her head an eyed her with one big violet eye.

The sun was lowering in the west when Lorae brought Moon Dancer back to the livery stable.

The Half Drow came out as they returned. "I saw him let himself out. It is not often one finds a horse who can use a Knock spell."

"Moon Dancer has many talents," replied Lorae reaching into her pouch for some coins. "He has had a fine roll in the sand, here is for a extra good grooming."

She stroked the stallion long arched neck, and pointed at him to go with half Drow.

She then returned to the White Hart Inn and the others, no longer wanting to deal with old memories.

Subject: Elessarae

Elessarae had dodged into the swampy area to the place where Draven had been dropped. Two vines caught one of her legs and one of her arms, but again she knew to snap loose before they could get a true hold on her. Perhaps it was her experience in dodging constricting menaces, the aimated ropes used in the Blademaster’s testing, or maybe the God’s favoured her after her many calls for aid.

She reached Draven unharmed, and started dragging him away from the tree, clear of the festered earth and out from under the tree.

Her eyes had been on Thondrek when he darted forward, the potion in hand. He started slow but caught speed quickly. When he was about to step on the swamped ground he saw at least ten vines coming at him, ready to grab and stop him from coming closer. Elessarae’s heart lurched as she prepared to drop Draven and go to the little man’s aid. Such an intense reaction had not been seen from the tree yet. But the vines caught nothing but air, for Thondrek had disappeared from his path. The doubt that lingered in the back of Elessarae’s mind, after tossing the potion to Thondrek, was erased in a blink. The Khord was now standing at the tree trunk, and was rubbing the ointment all over the bark.

The effects were instantaneous. The white tree went limp, its vines dropping from their ready positions to ensnare people into the normal branches of the average willow. The goo didn’t stop oozing from the appendices, but the hostility was over.

"Anyway to stop that Goo?" Thondrek asks to anyone who cared to answer.

“No, the tree has to fully recover and it takes time.” Elessarae answers “Now if you had contact with the tree or the soggy ground, strip and immediately wash yourself once you are clear of it.” Elessarae calls out her advice. “We will need to burn the affected clothes later.”

Next she uses her Bardic heal spell CLW to aid Draven. With a quick change of weapon she draws out her dagger, its keen edge glittering in the dappled sun and deftly cuts away Draven’s clothing. Elves had no inhibitions about nakedness so she stipped away his clothing without hesitation to remove the contaminated material from contact with his body as quickly as possible. Unslinging her waterskin with she washes his entire body, rolling him over when she needed to get to the other side. Only when he has been washed from head to toe, does she will take the time to remove all the extra protective clothing she had put on earlier and strip off the oiled boots and gloves she wore. She will wash her face, as it was the only exposed place on her body. She will check Draven again and make a decision if she needs to use the healing wand on him.

If the heads are not yet off the lizards Elessarae will move to help.

"To the stable and fast," calls Alea as she gathers her things and heads out the back door.

She gives a quick check as to what is about before sprinting to the stable, luckily it was close and slightly hidden from the front of the inn.

Once in the stable she will quickly get out her horse and with a speed born of desparation, saddle and bridle him over his halter so as not to waste time and mount.

Decisions.

Elessarae found herself quickly changing her intended actions.

She heard the call of Thondrek; she is just a sprint away from the trunk and yet he called to her to throw the potion to him. She sees he have moved to about 10 feet from her. Bladesinger were the lone champions of the Sylvari, it was in their makeup and training. For the most part they did their duty alone and unaided. Form the moment she had been named Blade singer and up until this day she had been much on her own when dealing with the poisoned trees and the effected animals, but now there were these others of whom she barely knew and now one of them was asking her for the potion even though she was closer to the tree.

It was not an easy decision to suddenly trust to stangers, for that was what they were. She had only just learned their names a scant hours ago and nw she was having to trust them in the heat of battle and with extremely vital undertakings.

She glanced to Thondrek and with a split second decision tossed the potion to him, and prayed that his asking for it portended some ability of his that made him feel as if he had a better chance to deliver it to the tree.

"Pour it on and rub it in," she calls to him watching that he catches it.

"Cut off the lizard' heads and burn them." called. Elessarae to the rest of the group. She says no more, not wasting the time or words. Let them figure out why she said what she did. Cutting off their heads would take them longer to regenerate, if they could, and once their bodies burned they could not regenerate at all.

Nearby Loda's wolf was snapping at the twisting animated snaky branches of the willow. Loda heself was chanting a spell. Elessarae hoped it was for healing, She was forced to trust that it was and she turned and sprinted to Draven using her sword to sweep overhead, a whirling blade barrier against the animated willow branches. Once to Draven she gathers up the potion before anything else, and stashes it into her pouch, and then gets a arm around the fallen man's chest and does her best to drag him out from under the tree while keeping an eye on Thondrek all the while under the sweep of her blade. Should Thordek fail to deliver the potion to the tree, Elesssarae will drop Draven and race to the tree to deliver the potion herself.

Elessarae will continue to sing as best she can as she does what must be done.

Morning comes all too soon for some and not to soon for others. Being young, restless and curious, Zara was up early, and out and about. There was not a nook or ctanny she had not already stuck her nose into. By the time the stable hands were stirring she ordered the horses saddled and ready for the day.

When Septimus finally stirs there is voice outside his room, "Don't forget you disguise," and then light footsteps leading away.

By the ime everyone is roused and down, Zara is sitting at a side table with a big tray of food steaming hot and ready to eat, There are hard boiled eggs, toast, bacon, links of sausage, porridge, honey, and some fruit.

The Aftermath of Eventide

(I will leave the choosing of loot to Q&A as I do not want to take up more time waiting for choices.)

Ashbenford is still in flux as residence of Eventide return home to stay and rebuild and others to gather their belongings and migrate to more settled areas. They saidthat since the Elven Court was deserted, that the Cormanthor Forest had become more dangerous.

By the afternoon the Innkeeper came to Cerric and told him rooms would be available tonight.

Now the adventurers were faced with the decision of what to do next. Other that Brianna’s search for a fable sword, that no one seem to know of, what they would do next was as yet undecided.

Kas looked to the Ranger. "Xaris helped me get the ladder up from the pit but decided to stay down ther and investigate a door her found. I am the only other one here."

She goes to Sunfire and removed her backpack, She takes her rope and cuts it in half and ties off the cut end in knots and that ties one piece onto her backpack rope the other still then ties her stallion and the ladder. The then tiies her waterskin to her backpack and sets them on the ladder.

"Stand back and I will throw you the rpoe and you can slide the backpack to you."

Kas then coils the rope and throws it across to Loriel.

"I would suggest wetting the blanket and then rolling Artanis onto it. Then drag the blanket out here and we will try to come up with a way to get her across the ladder using the ropes. Also see if you caan dind something hard to lay underher so that she will not bee bumped agains the rungs of the ladder."

"I do not think it would be wise of me to cross to your side unless it was absolutely necessary. "

Alea sat at the table with the others after moving into the common room. As Alacran's story wasunfolding she listened carefully. She was, at first a bit dismayed when Alacran said he could dnot lift that moak from iliwen's forehead right now as he had not the items he needed to do it. That ws not good. If the mark truly was as he said a beacon for the Dark One's minions then they were all marked because Siliwen must continue with them if they were to succeed in their mission. However then he offer Siliwen an amulet which he said would block the mark and keep them safe from that much.

Her dismay returned when Alacran told them all that the old woman who had helped them most likely put that mark on Siliwen in the first place. Alea could not believe that she had be so taken in by the woman who had offered to help them when Riddle was poisoned. However to back up all that he had said and done Alacran showed them the mark on him that they had been told to trust.

Now why had he shown them that mark to begin with. That only would have made his earlier words believed. They had so little they know about this place so few to trust.

When Riddle asked his question about why him. Her mind echoed the same question why her, and then she thought why any of them. None of them were very experienced in their own area. Siliwen was a young mage, Billy, Riddle, Thonderk and herself none of them had been long at their chosen occupations.

"Yes Alacran Why Riddle? Why me or any of the rest of us. We are not a band of heros of legend or lore. We are not powerful or even long on experience. Why us? Are there not people of this land that know it better than us and who are capable of what we can do or more?"

Questions she had and more for the man of this world who knew things they wanted and needed to know.

Kas can not believe her ears as Linnix speaks, her brows draw down and her eyes take on a thunderous aspect, her golden eyes flashing with fire. She could not believe that this was a member of the group speaking, a group that had come to her rescue as a stranger and yet when one of their own was injured and possibly dying, Linnix choose to grumble and go back to sleep.

Linnix, do you think, before you rest, that you could alert Aelistea and the others to Artanis's plight. I hope that my faith in them will be upheld and they will be more forthcoming with aid. Unfortunately I overestimated your comraderee, and loyalty, severely overestimated it This is my fault not yours." she said sadly agahast that she misread the young woman so

Her words were delivered without emotion, she neither raise or lower her voice. IT ws just matter of fact.

Kas does not wait for anyone else to say yeah or nay. "Artanis needs help those of you who want to help please come."

Warned of overexerting herself, and pulling out her stitches, she moved with a deliberate grace and efficient speed. She run walks to her stallion, saddles and bridles him and then grabs her pack and water skin and throws them over her saddle and leads the war horse back into the cave, being careful not to pull one the side of her stiches.

Seeing tiny Xaris had entered the cave and was accessing the situation Kas calls to him. “Warrior, have you a grapping hook, we might be able to use it to raise the ladders. If not I could lower you into the pit and you could tie a bit of rope to it and then Sunfire and I could pull you and it back up.”

She digs out her rope and ties one end to the saddle, in preparation to do what she had suggested if Xarius agrees.

"Loriel, come to the pit!"
