Kas will back up the two in front, plus she can see in the dark. though she does not know why. Loriel will be with me.

Kas slips her longsword into her scabbard and draws her bastard sword from her back.

"The foot prints lead from the horse to the cave, and given that the Ogre did nothing to hide his path back to his cave, denotes a bit of egotism and a sense of overconfidence."

"Alistrae is correct, there are alcoves, and the dark is what Ogre like. A sudden flare of light works well against an Ogre, it could blind them long enough to get some telling strikes in. Best if we can catch it napping after a heavy meal, hopefully only of horse."

Kas looks to the others, "Justice is best served, in this case, by quickly killing it, sentence is fittingly commensurate to the crime."

She had no compunction to call it out in fair battle, this was not such a case where the Honor of Justice needed to be served. Given the evidence around the cave the Orge deserved to die. Probably his midden pile was full of human remains.

"Dismount here," whispers Kas, "and we can go forward on foot. From the condition of the horse I would say the Ogre has eaten his fill, so the wife and daughter may still be safe, and with luck the Ogre may be sleeping off his gorging of horse meat."

Kas surveys the area of the cave and peers into its darkness as if she has no trouble seeing in the dark.

"I would hazard a guess that they will be caged or tied up toward the back of the cave, that way they could not get out, if they did escape their bondage, without passing by the Ogre."

Back Post:

With a grim resolve the companions moved along, mounting their steeds, and continuing once more along their original trail. Bartholomew found it strange that Kasenerrion had so easily been incorporated into their little shindig, and so spurred Alice alongside the strange woman of golden eyes and sun kissed platinum hair.

“Excuse me miss. Are you feeling better? That mark on your noggin sure looks tender. You’re more than welcome to travel with us to Castle Tethyr, but from there we make north across the wilderness for a quest most urgent.”

"I have healing yet to do, but I am capable to staying you with you. As for my head I suppose it will be tender for a bit." Kas answered turning her attention to the man.

"Your name is Bart, I heard another call you. I am Kas....Kasenarrion.....," she pauses as if trying to recall something her brow furrowiong with effort, but not being able to do so."

"Castle Tethyr? I believe I have heard of it. Please I am a stranger and am not entirely sure where I am or where I am going. For now it seems I travel with you."

Kas went silent and turned her attention to the road. Her brow remained furrowed for a bit longer before smoothing out. For the rest of the trip she remained quiet and withdrawn, lost in her own thoughts, for indeed, some of her thoughts were lost.

Present Time:

They travelled quietly for a space until they come upon the old man and the wrecked wagon, and heard his story.

She rides up to the man, after he is tended to by the healers of the group. Kas draws her longsword in a clean swift movement and raises the hilt of the blade to her face.

"By Tyr, I will see that the Ogre learns Justice, and I swear to do all in my power to see you and your family reunited, and there will be retribution for your loses."

Kas turned to the others, though few of them seemed warriors they had willing come to her rescue, "Who will ride with me?"

Siliwen looks up at Riddle as he helps her to her feet. "I did not kill him," she says simply, even though she was not sure of the truth of this statemnt. She did not consciously kill him that was for sure, but how ot prove it would be the hard part of this matter. Siliwen looks at the blood on her hands and for the blood that should be on her clothes if she had somehow did this heinous act under compusion. If she had struck the blow she should have sprays of blood across the front of her somewhere.

(Siliwen looks to see if she does have blood other than on her hands) She quickly starts organizing in her own mind what she knows and what she needs to find out about this situation. At this time the facts were sketchy. she turns her face to Riddle her eyes expressing a her thanks for his support. Indeed she was thankful to all of them for standing up. It made her feel less alone in the strange place and under these even stranger circumstances.

With even more feeling she calls out clearly into the common room. "I did not kill the innkeeper. How could I have wielded that piece of metal like a weapon against a man of his size and for what reason would I do such a thing."

Loriel as the forward scout was first on the scene, but it was Elesia's healing that save the old man's life. His story was as tragic as he revealed it was, to her mind all was not lost yet.

"How long ago did this happen." She asks the man

(answer from old man)

"I for one whil not let this Orge get away with this foul act. Whether or not we can save them all I so not know, but I can trail them easily enough." Loriel continued. "I could set off right now and catch them if we move quick enough."

"Corellon curse the Dark One," Alea spit out angerily. "His minions have been trying to get at Siliwen since we killed the Na'sir and drove off the wolfman last night."

"There has been a concerted anf foul attempt to get rid ot her, the Dark One must fear her to go to this length."

"Until moments ago Siliwen was in her bed asleep, some fell magic brought her here to be blamed for this. for I was at guard in the doorway, as we kept guard all night, fearing another attack." Alea is speaking fast and furious, trying to defuse the situation. "One of you warriors must know the fell of a dead man. Come feel this one he has been dead for a while, look at the amount of blood pooled here. Also consider the power needed to drive such a crude weapon so deeply into the chest. No meer girl could do that."

Kasenarrion was about to dismount to deal with the bandit, but the Drow had gotten there first. She waited her longsword ready, to help if needed.

As the older peasant in the cart tells the story of "The Cardinal" she listens, especially after he mentions Tyr. A Knight of the Silver Chalice, forsaken by the God of Justice? There was more to this that the old man seem know, or at least tell.

Justice and Retribution had its dark sides. It was always balance, as Tyr's chief device shown on his shield, a set of balances. Who was this strange man that acted the part of a vigilante.

She looked down at the man in the ground and felt no pity, he had probaably done worse to others in his lifetime and when the drow priestess drove the sword into his heart, she only watched dipassionately. Justice was done.

"Tyr, be the Judge." she comments to the wind.

Before going to bed Alean checks out the room and when all is to her satisfaction she wedges the window closed with her dagger. Should someone open the window, the dagger would fall alerting them of danger. Alea only removed her cloak and boots to rest, she wanted to be ready on a moments snotice, for that she had her bow leaning up against the top of her bead with her quiver, and she unsheathes her sword and lays it beside her body. She sleep facing into the room, and where she can clearly see Siliwen.

When woken Alea goes to the door when woken by the special knock that had been chosen and nods to Riddle. She puts on her boots and gathers her weapons. Alea opens the door and proceeds to move the chair to the doorway of their room, where she could see most of their room and the hallway near the boys’ room. She is happy that it seemed the Siliwen was not disturbed in the night, or her sleep broken by ill-sent dreams of her mentor. She sings softly and prays for part of her watch and then inspects and tends to her bow, arrows, and other weapons. She thanks Corellon for stand by her, and prays for her spells for the day.

When the gray light of morning, lightens their room, she
knows soon it would be time to wake. Adding to that there were sounds coming from the first floor letting her know that the staff was already preparing breakfast.

A bloodcurdling scream splits the air from below. Alea, already armed, races from her chair and downstairs as fast as she can go On seeing Siliwen there bloodstained and standing over a bloody body, Alea immediately knows something is not right. There was not way Siliwen could have gotten out of the room passed her.

Alea immediately moves to the fallen man, to see if there is anything she can do to save him, for now the cleric was focused on saving a life.

"We need protective coverings, waterproof canvas or oil treated leather the cover the head and body and even the feet. It would help if there was a mage among you, as we did not have the time to fully introduce ourselves I do not know what each of you can do, a fly spell would be of great help."

She looks to the others, "When I used the potion on the tree near the village that had been decimated by the Goblins close to Flame Tower, I had to rub the potion over the trunk. The ground under the canopy of the oak was saturated with the innards of mushy acorns that fell from the tree. At the time I had a Goblin with me and I made him preceed me to the tree, His major reaction came from an acorn that plopped on his head and he panicked crying for it to be wiped from his head. The mage that was sent with me had a fly spell, which is why I still have my boots, but after dealing with the tree, I burned everything I was wearing."

"Hopefully the sages and mages A Flame Tower were able to get some information from the Goblin that might help us learn more about the nature of the infected trees, and maybe something about the Goblin's plans."

I did say Pelor was the family deity, as I am descended from a Celestial, could it not be that the medallion came from her Celestial Grandfather. I believe celestials can change plains. Family could follow the Morning Lord in deference to their celestian ancestor.

From Dragon Mistress and Brianna.

We send you our condolences on the loss of your father. My mother is in that same generation as your father. She is still alive but I know that we will lose her too. I have kept asking her about the ealier life so that I know more about her.

My father has been gone many years now, but he was such a man as your grandfather. He did not share much of his life with others expecially not the rougher parts--he did share the good times. When he was not at work he was fishing, or bowling, or hunting or creating something. Our father went to join up like his sisters and brothers during WWII, 6 of the family of 7 did. but he was 4F, so he went to work at Douglas Aircraft and helped that way.

You are so fortunate that he opened up during his final days and you were there with him to share that.

Sincereyly
The Twins

"Go ahead Billy, their spirits are fled to their rest."

Alea mounts and joins the others ready to depart as soon as Billy had finished.

Throughout the ride, Alea would dismount her hosre and walk or jog beside it, giving them both a break. She feels the mountains and the ominous dark storm over them, that being the place where the enemy held sway.

The sighting of the light at dusk was a welcoming beacon. The ostler (stableman) came to take their mounts and she slipped him a silver for her horse as she dismounted and took up her saddlebags and pack lashed to the back of her saddle. Knowing the attitude of the people they had met in Southpoint and on the road, she kept her hood up.

She moves over by Siliwen and whispers to her about her hood.

"My name is Kas......Kasenarrion....." Kas seems to stop to ponder something, her brow wrinkles as happens to someone in deep and puzzling thought.

For the Drow had given her whole name, and Kas had given her family name and her given name, but not her surname, as most all have surnames of one sort or another, but try as she might she could not come up with a surname.

As the Drows attention was turned to others of her group, Kas mounted Sunfire. As they speak of things they found Kas rides over. Even before she approached the pile of loot, she feels an unease, a sense of something being wrong, being Evil. When one of them pointed out a disc and mentioned that it was strange and felt wrong, Kas's own impression, now centered on the disc, intensified as she looked at it. It was not only dark in color, but there was a dark aura about it.

"That disc must be destroyed, or buried," Kas spoke to no one in particular. She did not know why she felt that, but is was a strong apprehension that flooded into her, even before she saw the disc, "It is tainted with Evil."

Her estimation of the disc came out of her mouth, even while she was trying to understand how she knew that, or at least came up with the idea that is was Evil.

She had come to a bridge over a river that would not be easy to ford, the intent of the sentries that demanded toll was not right. There was evil about her and a fight ensued as she had tried to cross the bridge without paying, during which a terrible blow between her eyes from a mace wielding sentry sent her into oblivion. She was lost in a nothingness, until a red haze rose with her returning consciousness and she found that she was not alone, others where now fighting the sentries. There was an intense desire for retribution as she rose and fought. She had cut off the foot of one sentry disabling him and then she turned on mace wielder, the man who had downed her earlier. Just as the enemy began to run a great conflagration enveloped the fighters on the bridge. Kas leaped over the bridge into the water in a vain attempt to escape the fire damage; luckily she was unconscious before hitting the dry ground.

Kas opened her bright golden eyes to find a Drow female kneeling beside her. Her first thought was to defend herself, but the healing that had been done to bring her to consciousness was not enough to allow her badly burned body to respond. The Drow then prayed or incanted a spell for healing, Kas felt the soothing warmth spread out over her body and even more of her pain dissipated in its wake. This was no follower of Lloth or any of the other deities followed by the Drow and the dwellers of Underdark.

“Thank you,” Kas got out, with some lingering pain. She slowly began to move testing out the extent of her remaining damage. She winced once or twice as she moved newly healed and unhealed burned skin. When she could she reached for her sword, and used it to help her stand.

Her eyes widened as she looked about and saw no rushing river or bridge. Off to one side was a couple of carts and some milling riderless horses, including Sunfire her big palomino war horse, there was no mistaking his deep gold body and snow white mane and tail.

She whistles and winces again. Sunfire raises his head and canters down to where Kas stands. Kas then slides her bastard sword back into the O-ring and taking hold of Sunfire’s stirrup, using it to help support herself.

As they stood together they were a picture in tones of gold and white. Kas’s eyes were bright gold ringed with a dark circle, like an owl’s or eagle’s eyes. Her skin was pale gold and her hair was snow white like her horse’s mane and tail, but it also seemed to have been dusted by powdered gold. She was dressed in golden tanned leather traveling clothes, well made, but not fancy About her neck was the golden symbol of Pelor and the only spot of color came from a medallion showing a set of balances on the head of a hammer on a bright blue background.

She looked to the strangers about her, which allowed each of Bart’s group to see an odd scar on her forehead, the place where the mace wielder had jabbed his mace causing her to go unconscious. It had the look of a sun in splendor. (A sun with rays around it.)
