Topic: The Chakran Portal - an Adventure in Audalis
Subject: Elessarae

Once the futility of gnawing on the ropes became evident Elessarae started to work her hands in an attempt to get free. The Elven skeleton was finer and more supple than Khord or human. Elessarae even had practice, not only at the Meleglindar Nost but when she was young and her older brothers and cousins used to play Elves and Goblins. Because she was small she was almost always the goblin. They would stalk her and then tie her up. In time she learned some tricks to getting away. When she had first gone through training at the keep where the class was tied up and left to get free she was was the firstto do so.

Elessarae stays down as it would cover some of her movements. "Someone" she whispers again, "spit on my hands and wrist."

When that happens, Elessarae will curl her palm up tightly, tucking her thumb towards the center to narrow her palm to make it easier to pull her hands free of the ropes around her wrist. By staying on the floor, she can use the rough wooden surface and partly lay on her wrists to hold the rope around them in place while she pulls a hand free. She uses a strong steady pull so that it would be less evident.

She silently thanked the deities for being Elf and having a slender and flexible body, and her trainers at the Keep for having enhanced what nature had given her.

Subject: Clerical Casting

It really depends on the DM how he want to do it. PHB gives V S M for clerical spells. Some DM keep to that and others feeling that since the power of the spell is divine that cleric do not need V S M to cast spells.

Since this is not a D&D world, you can make the call. Me, I DM a Bastardized D&D which works very well. Clerics do not need V S M, even Arcane casters can do without them, but they take a precentage chance for spell failure. 20% for each V S and or M they do not use. If the spell fails they do not lose it, it just never went off.

Elessarae whispers lowly, using her bardic talent so as not to draw the goblin guards' attentions. "Lay behind who is close and gnaw their ropes."

Love the bubbles. I keep bubble stuff in my car. Whenever I hit slow traffic I open my window and make bubbles. Some people look at me strangely, but others smile. I like seeing them smile, knowing they are kindred spirits.

Bubbles forever.

The older Romulan, Sienae’s second in command, keep his dark blue gaze on the captain of the Charon. Everything about his stance was military, as if knowing where every body part was in relation to everyone else. Not a muscle moves, not even in his eyes, he was reminiscent of a bullmastiff on guard.

Both of the Captains had read his file, which had a few unusual aspect recorded in it, He had been a Marine and for several years preceding more recent events he had been training Martial Arts at the Imperial War Academy. Then he was assigned to the Balak, the same ship that the Centurion had been on during the failed Romulan-Cardassion attack on the Dominion, where he had been the equivalent of the Staff Sergeant in the RS Marines. After that incident, he had been transferred to the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant. A very new entry indicated that he had been adopted by the Centurion’s family. In fact, it had been added to his record buy Star Fleet channels just after the Romulan’s had first boarded the Cerberus, it had not there when Mac had first read their files.

S'Talon watched Captain Gavison with an intensity that could be felt.

I have changed Sienae's middle name, as I found that I had put down the wrong city for her family's place. Also her last name has a Prefix added, an ancient form of honorary.

Also learned that middle name is rarely used except in very formal occasions or to show deep respect.

I found one reference where the Equvalent of SF Lt Commander is a Senior Centurion.

Zora looks to the statue, feeling that there is still truth to the riddle. She searches for a clue to that which would melt the Heart of Cold. As she looks she does Lay on Hands on herself then pulls out a Healing Wand and uses it on Sil.

She hopes that Malice will think they must heal before they can leave, giving her time to try and rectify their terrible mistake.

Zorana Starhawke of Caer Draken inwardly exalts at Tyr's demonstration of divine favor as the Orb cracks and breaks under their the combined attacks. She was his Paladin the fighting arm of His Faith. Humility kept her exaltation within, that and the need to complete the job at hand.

Zora grabs up the ends of her cloak and wraps each end around hands and moves to one side of the Heart of Cold. She lifts it up from the pollar and moves it over to the statue with the chained skeleton and place it in the lap of the female.

Looking at the statue of the woman with her hand outstretched she say "This is the heart of COld anad this must be the Loving heart."

Zora suddenly recalls whar Firin Ranklefoot said, and repeat it aloud.

While all that glimmers be not gold,
And warmth of love melts heart of cold
When sun retreats for orb of night
The way revealed by silver light.

"Silvara, focus on Love."

Great resolve was within her, with it love fill her body and soul; love of Tyr, love of Good, love of beauty, and arts and music.

"TYR!" She pressed forward knowing that the sphere had to be eliminated.

More that that I fear the skeletons will be roused against us."

She looks to see how close the skeletons are compared with the wave of darkness enimating from the orb. If she can get to the skeletons she will try to destroy them before they are animated.

Elessarae hurt as she stirred.

"Well, well! Back amongst the livin', are we, now? Name's Kurok. Don't talk for now. Ya need yer strength, It can't be all back yet, even after sleepin' fer two days an' nights. Yuh, two. Takes strength to talk. We can do that later. It don't take strength to think. We need to figger out how to get free, and get armed. And we should include the fuzzy one over there. Just brought him, or it, in earlier this night, and he -- it -- ain't awake yet. But it deserves the same chance we do."

He pauses briefly, and looks as if he is trying to decide whether or not to ask something. Then he nods and smiles, as if coming to a firm decision.

"I noticed a few Khordish amongst you lot. Wondered what had become of my race, that we could be so easily captured and subdued. When I re-create the Makaz-Kharl, I intended to show my race, my people, how to defend themselves. Chaks and Khords will never again be an easy target, for anyone, any race!"

The look of determination that appeared in his face as he fell silent showed that he hadn't given up, not yet. Not even in his, and their own, current situation.

Elessarae heard this and knew she was alive, painfully alive. Then she opened her eyes and looked carefully around.

It was still night, or night again, and they found themselves in a metal cage. Their hands were bound by thick ropes, their eyes blurry with pain. Beyond the bars of the cage, the night was only broken by a big fire that danced somewhere behind a sea of tents. Around the cage stood more tents, barrels, and racks with weapons and shields. Dark shadows moved everywhere around them, and grunts and harsh laughter reverberated damply through the fields; they were in the goblin encampment. The cage they were sitting or lying in had wooden wheels, and only a single door with an intricate lock. On every corner of the cage stood a goblin sentinel, weathered and alert. But aside from the goblins, they were not alone in the cage. There were two others, one a Khordaldrum male, the other a strange humanoid with leathery wings and brown hair. The Khord was awake, but the other lay distorted and broken in a corner.

She then looked up at the Khord who spoke. No,, as her dulled mind just now comprehended the Kh----Chak’s words in designating himself.

Elessarae nods to the Chak, accepting his pronouncement of a fabled existence with no reaction at this time and then turns to her comrades to check on each of them.

"Loda, lass Thondrek? Malius lad? Elessarae? Who's here?"
She heard Geim speak.

"Elessarae, here," she whispers.

Whoever is close enough Elessarae will lay down behind then an gnaw on their ropes.

Stardate: 2374.09.06
USS Charon – Shuttle Bay 2 – 16:17 hours

In the hall outside of Shuttle Bay 2, Kelsey met by the security team he had requested. Striding into the room he went straight to the force field.

Sienae stood as the group enters, She gives a quick look to S’Talon and then she quickly picks out MacTavish . She turned her golden bronze eyes on Captain MacTavish and offered him a look of profound sympathy that convey with it a wave of emotion that said, ~~I understand your lost.~~ Sienae did mean it sincerely having recently suffered lost not only friends and fellow officers, but her mother who was the Captain of the giant Warbird Balak.

(This is a empathic projection, MacTavish and anyone not trained to block such will feel it. Whether or not they acknowledge it or believe it is another matter.)

Her eyes went back to the other, who must be the Captain of the Charon, as he approached the force field, there was tenseness to his body and a terse twist to his mouth. Keeping to protocol she saluted.

“Centurion Sienae,” The angry officer said in a rough voice, a phaser held at his side. “You and your team will accompany us to the brig. You are being arrested on the suspicion of sabotage against the Star Fleet Starship Cerberus that resulted in the deaths of Federation and Starfleet personnel—I would suggest that you remain deathly silent, Centurion. I’ve no patience for those who kill my people, and I’ve already determined that should you step one iota out of line I will be the judge, jury, and executioner.”

Lifting the phaser so that it pointed straight at Sienae, Kel gave the order, “Drop the force field. Lt. Commander Rrowl, please see to it that the Romulans are safely stowed in my brig. Should they attempt to speak to anyone until their trial, you have my permission to end it.” He purposefully left the “it” ambiguous.

Sienae expected that they would be charged, what she did not expect was the venomousness of Captain Gavison. She met him eye-to-eye, unwavering, unblinking, and very self-controlled, something most Romulans were not noted for. There was a look for him, different from MacTavish’s, for doughy Scott had earned her respect.

Sienae expected better, it showed in her eyes and with her gaze wnet a wave of emotion. ~~Disappointment and disillusionment.~~

When she did break eye contact she did so purposefully, snapping her eyes away. She turned to look at her remaining team, it was there in her eyes and in the way she had of expressing herself without speaking, then she gestured for them to rise. ~~Comply without question.~~

Seeing Shiarrael still in a healing trance, Sienae moves to her cot. One does not shake a person out of a state of meditation. Estimating just where the others were and blocking them from the sight of Shiarrael, Sienae placed her hand with fingers spread on the side of her face and opened contact with the meditating woman.

~~Wake and do not speak~~

Sienae keeps her hand there until Shiarrael comes out of her trance. ~~Do NOT speak,~~ she adds before removing her hand. She hoped Shiarrael would get the message.
