"I suggest that we leave and head north to my home, I want to check on my parents." Mora points off to the woods to the north, "It is not far."

"I think it would be best to leave the dead to the dead."

She turns and starts to walk that way then looks back to see if any are following. Once she knows they follow she lengthens her strides.

"Nnnnnnoooooooo," it took minutes for the word to form in her mind. In the background the tree contended with its environment; the movement of water and nutrients through its length and breadth, the gnoshing of annoying insects eating away at certain parts of its body, the warmth of the soil, and the sun on its leaves."

Soronuume is fortunate that it is summer when trees are at there most active, still, fast for a tree is v..e..r..y.. slow in human time, as a living thing that registered time by the passing of the seasons and was worse than talking to a Ent. The old oak was just registering injury and healing sap had begun to move to those ares where the bark had been stripped away. Do to recent rains the tree had resisted some of the fire damage and the bark was not totally burned away.(What are you going to ask the tree.)

Brianna asks for healing and Lorae tends to the wound by cleaning it before doing a laying on of hands. "Do any of you have cure disease. Dragons' claws are not noted for their cleanliness."

When all are seen to Lorae goes back to the red dragon and very shortly afterward it disappeared from the ground.

Meatime Precdious snuggled into the soft bedding in the haversack and Flame fairly clung to the side of it, in concern.

"She's ok?" He piper out looking to Alexandria for conformation. "Lorae can to the hands thing," he added. I can go get her if she needs more healing."

"Flame and I were....ah....playing around....and he tried to catch us and eat us.

Alexandria could see the glisteniung of tears in the bottom lids of her tears. It was very unexpected and it tugged at the strings of her heart.

She snuggled into Alexandrai's chest. "you are nice and soft."

Meantime Lorae lowered the Drow priestess to the ground and began reaching into her knapsack. She pulled dout another such pouch and began stuffing it with a couple towels and what looked to be a silk scarf.

Lorae came up beside her and handed her the knapsap and helped get it over her head and one shoulder. "Put her in here as soon as you think she is ready to travel. You can carry her like some women carry their babies in slings made of large scarves, or shawls tied over one shoulder."

The moment Alexandria had her out sof the hole Flame was on her neck with his tail wrapped about it for stablity while he leaned over her shoulder and part way down her chest. In the dappled sunlight Alexandria could better see her patient. On first seeing Flame, she could have called him a refined and tiny copy of a dragon, but compared to this beauty, he was more strudy as a male, where she was all that was delicate and graceful.

Who is to say it was the kiss or the healing or both, but the little dragonette that Flame called Precious, stirred and lifrted her head. Her large eyes opened, and had she lashes, the would have been long and curled, as it was bright golden eyes peered out tentatively.

"Is it gone," same this soft, tiny voice, "pretty lady?"

With Lorae's help Alexandria can easily look inside the hole. There is not much light when Alexandria's head fills the opening of the hole in the tree, but with her dark vision it is like day inside. What she sees is Flame sitting beside a second dragonette who lays limp in the bottom of the hole. There is not much difference in the two at first glance, but errant bits of sunbeams reflect off her gleaming body revealing a difference. Where Flame is bright red, seemingly over a metallic golden base, This one is the red orange of a padparasha sapphire, over a similar metallic golden base. (Think of the crayon color red orange.)

"Please heal her!" piped Flame patting the other dragonette with a front foot.

Not so far away the Devon, Soronuume, and Brianna continue their attacks until the Dragon no longer twitched. True to their nature the red was arrogant and over confident his youth lead to his demise.

Lorae comes up to where Alexandria seeks a way up the heavy trunk of the tree that the red dragon had so scored by great racking claws and scroached by hot dragon breath. "Here, let me boost you up. The red dragon is finished, and those there can make sure of that."

Lorae sheathed her sword, "Let me give you a leg up as soon as you're ready." Lorae was careful to keep to the far side of the great boll of the massive tree keeping it between the escaping dragon's path.

The fllening dragon turns his head towards her tormentors, the fouls humanoids that had so hurt it. It prepare to breathe fire, it lashes its tail trying to seep away any attackers. Two more of Xuor's arrows in rapid succession cause the beast to collapse to the ground , it legs folded up beneath, but there were twitches.

Flailing it wings in an attempt to fly, Devon's magic missle strike it unerringly, and it screams agains, then Alexandria's last bolt of light hits just before Briann's axe slams into it where the joint of the wing joins the body. The great dwarven waraxe cuts deeply. The wild slashing of the red'a tail falters and finally stills. Fortunately Devon and Xuor used ranged weapons against the grat beast juvenile though it was. Back at the tree.

As Alexandria reaches the tree Flame pops his head out of the hole about 8 feet up, and calls out to her, "Here! Help, Precious."

The tree has a low branch that might help Alexandra reach the hole, though she will have to climb up without anything in her hands.

"Frrriend arrre prrroved by deeds, not worrrds." Serrena remarked to Petraak.

As the group moved on Serrena easily kept up with the riders. and when they stopped for lunch she drew our a chunk if bread abd cheese, and sipped from her waterskin.

The arrival of the dragon was a surprise Eastern Dragons were wingless and moved though the air by commanding the winds, they were wind riders.

Serrena was quiet and listened, she understood all their words, Dragons were venerated by the Temple of the Winds. The great Celestial Cloud Dragon, Emperor of all Oriental Dragons, was a parton of the temple.

Again she listens, she was not with the group when they had met the old man. As they spoke of him she began to wonder if the man who had sent them might be this evil mage. Had any of them read his alignment when they were dealing with him.

“Who are you and what business have you with us? You seem to mention the goblins, but, clearly you are not one of them."

He lowered his sword in peace and took stock of the new arrival.

"You are Felani, thus you have traveled a long way to this forest. If you mean us no harm, you're welcome to sit with us, perchance even join us on our quest. Perhaps you know something of a temple...Sunryad? Have you heard of it in your travels?"

After the warrior's quick set of questions without a pause for her to answer; Serrena had a unique opportunity to reply in kind. She cocked her head and the light danced in her slitted golden eyes.

“Serrrena—none—of course—yes—yes—thank you—maybe—purrrhaps—no.

Her lips lifted in a smile revealing her more pronounced canines, though the Felani called the felines; it was foolish to name the fangs after dogs.

Then a soft rumble filled her chest, as she hunkered down, sitting, but not really sitting on her heals with her tetsubo grounded beside her.

"Isilmiri, I believe you may have something, it was what I also concluded from our last get together when we shared our finds. The town might have been cursed, or someone is using the lizardoids to exact an extended retribution, but I for one do not believe in having the decendents of many generations, paying for their forebearers sins. Someone instigated this retribution so what we need to do is find out who and where they are.

OIn a side thought, even though the other incidents seem irrevelant, it would be good to keep them in mind. Wonder if the mage was working on a way to remove the curse or a way to protect the town. He might have been killed because of that and the tower destroyed so that no one would go looking for any evidence of his work.

And.....there is the magical sword, if it comes to a fight, it would be really helpful."

Tamuril hits the books with a zest for knowledge, this was a Bard's treasure, a wealth of history and stories to create sosng, and stories to entertain. On a more serious note she search for some history of creatures of the sea and coast. Beside her she kept a stack of papers and set her bottle of ink in one of the hole cut into the table so anyone in the act of copying texts could not accidently knock the ink over and ruin a book.

She was at her work before dawn and stayed late into the night. SHe copied the story of a famous sea battle, a epic poem of a famous hero of the area, and a few other pieces. Separate from those were pages of notes about the coastal animals and monster that she did find in her studies.

Hearing the sounds of battle beyond the stand of brush the Hobs were hiding behind, and then someone singing, of all the foolish things to do during a fight, Serrena made her way towards the fighting, but as she stepped around a tree the sounds of fighting and singing stopped.

Gliding into the glade was a tall catoid, tall as in 6+ feet; for the knowledgeable, a Felani. As she had not taken the time to pull up her tunic jacket, she was bare to the waist, showing that her was definitely female, and and furred. Her cat coloring was that of the fabled snow leopard, having a dove gray body with dark gray leopard spots, though the belly area was more whitish and lacking spots. Her face was more human than cat, her ears were almost elven, except there were long hairs tufting the point of those ears. There were simple sandals on her feet, laced up over the lower legs of her baggy pants.

In her hands was a simple staff of darkwood bound on each end with metal, one end was shiny and bright the, other end was bound with some dark metal. She look about the scene of carnage holding her staff ready for battle and seening that the Hobs and Worgs were all dead she grounded the dark end of the staff,

"Rrrrats!" she excalimed, "Therrre arrre no morrre forrr me."

Subject: Elendil

Into the rising sun Elendil rode, thundering hooves of her newly acquired silver dun mare blazing across the copper hued landscape surrounding Starspire Bastion.

Though the trip with Bronwyn had been agonizingly slow compared to what speed afoot Elendil alone could make, had made their journey to the Keep over a week long. On such a fine mount she moved swiftly to her destination Though the Elves of Wealdath were not her people, being elves she had held an affinity to them and when she volunteered her services to them, her sense to duty and honor keep her focused on carrying out the duty without delay. She had had to turn down Lord Bartholomew’s offer to join them, to complete her assignment for the Council, nestled deep in the boughs of the Wealdath Forest. Her journey would take her a few days each way, for the elves knew something of defending their homes with deception, subterfuge, and utilizing nature’s own might in their defenses; and to pick her way through the web of illusion and glamour would take time even for the elf, whose time with the council and natural affinity for the outdoors gave her an edge over the twisting paths through the dense foliage.

Now, she returned with an enchanted chest strapped to the back of her steed, laden with the tidings of her investigation, and a token possibly more valuable still. The Starspire opal, along with the sealed letter attached to it, were the first attempt of open communication and relations since before the civil war. Bartholomew’s gift and good-will would hopefully open old doors anew, but the memories of the elves were long… would it be enough?

Elendil had started walking the mare when she first set out from the keep to warm up. After an hour she moved to the trot And then a canter, before she dismounted checked the attachments holding the chest in place, lightly loosened the cinch and the walked and trotted alongside the mare to give her a breather. Having so recently traversed the mountains, she knew where the watering places were and timed a walk phase for just before reaching one and drinking from the cool mountain stream she retightened the cinch and, remounted to walk, then trot and canter again. Elendil then repeated the routine, it was the best way to assure her of speed without over taxing the mare. Cresting the road at the summit of the pass through the Starspire Mts., she paused to look NE, over the verdant canopy of the trees that was the Wealdath Forest.

As Elendil rode on, thoughts of the previous week drifted in and out of her mind. Of loss and gain, times of old and what the future may hold, dependant on the items she now carried. Buried in her thoughs was a a worm-like worry having to do with the Courier that had come and then titled her Lady. As much as she tried to quell the fear, she wondered if she had been finally located, had her family found her?

Wlwndil drove on with some speed while she followed the road, but as soon as she reached SE corner of the Forest, she moved into the cover and safety of the trees. Moving through the forest would take longer, but she felt safer there. Night found her in the shadowy depths of the great Wealdath. She found a glade with a stream nearby and sufficient grass for the mare. In the way of a Ranger she used her skills and abilities to bond the mare to her. In their bonding the mare gave Elendil, her inner name, Dawn Star. She groomed the mare, set out her saddle blanked to dry, cleaned the tack and only then fed herseff. Elendil slept, knowing her affinity to nature would give her warning of danger. Partway through the night she woke, to give the mare a measure of grain, and once again in the dark of the morning. Elendil ate sparingly, the located the mare cropping grass and tacked her up and reset the chest. giving it some extra padding by folding up a blanket and setting it under the chest.

In the solitude of her ride her mind had time to dwell on the liberation of the stronghold from Bolikar and his drow cohort. Yet somehow, even with that burden upon her, here in the mossy halls of her wooded kingdom Elendil felt at ease. Surely the woods held plenty of dangers of her own, but to the ranger, it was as natural for the forest or the creatures within to act upon matters of instinct and survival, without the complications of motive or morality humanoids seemed to be governed by.

Following the pattern of the day before, Elendil move through the forest alert and on guard, not all animals in the forest were friendly—some were neutral hunger.

Not too far off from where the travelers passed:

Sereena slipped sinuously through the Felwood forest; her soft sandals crushed no leaf, no twig snapped, and no bush rustled. Her neutral clothing and her own natural camouflage, since there was no one about she had dispensed with her tunic, kept her almost unseen, even without consciously hiding.

She had been cat napping when a clumsy bunch of Hobgoblins and their dire wolves brought her awake in a flash, and she had decided to follow them, surreptitiously. They seemed intent on something off to the right, as they angled toward whatever it was, keeping themselves low and out of sight as much as they could. They were up to no good that was for sure. She followed. Her ears caught the sound of horses moving ahead, their feet crunching the forest litter. You can’t sneak through the forest on a horse.

As she watched, they made their move moving to attack, all but one laggard hanging back. Sereena waited until the others had moved and she moved up to the lone hobgoblin, He dropped to the ground under as her leg swung out taking him down buysing a well placed leg to the back of his knees, tripping him up. With his neck exposed, and he fell, one slicing chop with the side of her hand slammed him in his throat She felt and heard the crushing of his wide pipe. He would soon be gasping for a breath that would never come, nor would he get up. The primal need to breathe, would keep down and out of the fight until he expired from suffication, she hoped.

Lorae moved toward Brianna, Drawing her greenwood sword the glowed brightly even in the daylight.

Brianna struck the Red Dragon that was twined about the tree It roared out in pain and its atttention was drawn from mauling the tree, to the bold human weilding twin swords, one of which had bit into his scaly hide hurting him.

He uncoiled his upper body and his front feet hit the ground, he had to swing his neck to reach the human that hit him. A large claw swungout

He roared again as tiny darts of light also struck him in a foreleg, soon followed by a bolt of lightning that partially clipped a tree branch and then his tail, he screamed again and fully dismounted the tree.

As much damage that had been dealt, but the Red did not seem that he was as hurt as the others thought he should be.
