Get over your writer's block already! We need updates! I find myself with some time, and in need of posting!

The rest of the week will be busy once more.

Subject: Ok

Saw it last night. I came out with mixed feelings.

Yes, it's action packed, and good if you aren't looking for a decent story. The visuals are stunning, all the way through, but there is so much action, and the set-up is so repetitive that it becomes a bit dull towards the end.
All in all, it pretends to be more than it has to offer, and by now we're used to better films by Zach Snyder.

The part with the Samurai and the clockwork nazis are awesome. After that I think they were trying too hard.

You should go see it, since it's worth the visit, in my opinion. It's just not as satisfactory as I thought it was going to be.

There are also the novels that don't come from adventures, but come from Campaign Settings.

Dragonlance has already been mentioned, but if you look at Forgotten Realms and Ravenloft, there are novels that are actually referred to in the Settings or Expansions.

In other words, you'd have to have read the books in order to have a clear picture of a history, a character or a place. Reading about Strahd in the Domains of Dread or in I, Strahd and Vampire of the Mists are two different things. They lead to the same character, but with many different nuances. In the setting, Strahd is pretty flat, in the novels, you can almost understand why he became immortal.
Same goes for many other Dark Lords.

And the Forgotten Realms history is ever evolving because it changes with every book Greenwood (and of course others too) writes.

A map of the area as far as we know it would be nice. Can we see the castle from where we are now, what is the landscape like, where are the roads. That kind of info would be good. I'm not talking a fully open map, since we have no real knowledge of the area, but one of those shaded things, where the map appears as we approach the castle, would be cool (like in the old Warcraft games, and many RPGs).

Don't know if that's doable.

Argent nodded to his brother. He was glad his sibling had a good, tactical mind. Steering the slaves in the right direction while he battled the magnificent foe the White Blade turned out to be was clever. He knew that Thiferl would want nothing more than to help defeat their enemy.

As their attacker suddenly disappeared and re-emerged on one of the rooftops, Argent turned to help his brother. But not before pointing directly at the White Blade and nodding a slight greeting. We will meet again it meant. He had no doubt they would.

(OOC: Agreeing to make a run for it. Let's get this part of the adventure over with. I'm curious to see what happens next.)

A map would be nice.

I got my post in. He's going to try and shoot any of the two remaining Germans.

I don't know if we can turn back time and revise posts, but Luke offered his own gun to the lady before she dove out. Guess that was overlooked. But I think Vanadia could do some serious damage with it this round.

Subject: still ready

Romo was hit, and he himself had missed both his shots. Luke could only imagine that this was the beginning of the end of this mission. With an important man in their team wounded, they would have a much harder time bluffing or sneaking their way inside.

Not that bluffing or sneaking had done them any good so far.

He was still holding his gun to pass it to the lady when she dove past him and rolled away from the car. He wondered if she hadn’t understood his gesture or if she refused to take the weapon for another reason entirely. He decided to keep it for now and help his team out first.

From his position behind the car door he had a terrible view of things. He could hear the battle going on, and saw people getting out of the car.
Being in control meant knowing what is going on, and taking steps to get ahead. So, with strong determination he got up straight and put his hands on the roof of the car for stability, aiming his gun at the first enemy soldier he saw.
Then he took two shots.

Subject: bloody half orc

Argent was starting to feel a bit light headed. He was losing blood and he knew he would've been doing a lot better if the half orc hadn't knocked him off balance. Still, he would have a talk with the man later.

For now he had to try and focus on the man before them. Reaching down into the inner core of his being he refound peace. The White Blade was fast, but his team mates were crowding around him now. They needed to press on, to gain the upper hand and move out of the area before reinforcements came.

Time seemed to slow down a bit as Argent's hands formed offensive patterns which sped towards his enemy. The man was a tough opponent, and had earned the dwarf's respect. But respect or not, Argent would beat the man to death if it meant protecting these slaves.

(OOC: Trying to take a five-foot-step if it means he can flank the man with the halfling. Then attack using Flurry of Blows.)

Subject: Skating sucks, but shoving people around....

ICE hockey.

It was just American football on skates. Gerald Downhouser loved American football. He’d been one hell of a player in his high school years. His team had won every single game since the day he joined. He could just carry the ball to the other side of the field unhindered. Yes, some people got dragged across the grass as they refused to let go of his ankles after an attempted tackle, but most of them didn’t maintain their grasp long enough to see the touchdown. His coaches had told him to ignore the referee’s plea to please pass the ball once or twice because the field got damaged too severely by people dragging over it. Or the mothers of the other team’s players had offered him money not to trash their sons too hard. He had always followed the coaches advice and ignored any pleas.

Rules were rules, and they were there for a reason.

What was happening in the ice skating ring had nothing to do with rules. This was not a hockey game but a massacre on the rocks. It would’ve chilled his blood if he hadn’t gotten so used to seeing people die. He tore his gaze away from it and looked straight down at the Canadian.

“This is not a fair game. You, are a bad man. Were your parents bad people too? I bet they were.”

That would teach him. Downhouser was sure of it.

People around him started preparing for the game, and soon they were joined by a newcomer. He introduced himself as Vitali, and seemed a decent guy, with some knowledge of the game. Gerald greeted him warmly with a firm handshake. It was then that Katie proved her worth once more by declaring a strategy.
Downhouser was glad she took control of the situation, because he didn’t know the first thing about hockey. Well, he had watched it once or twice, even visited a game once, during his time as a personal body guard. He didn’t remember much from that period.

Still, beating people up was something he could do in his sleep. In fact, he had once woken up standing over a pile of knocked out gangsters in his pyjamas with no recollection of even getting out of bed.
It was just the way it was. He found crime like other people found loose change. He also put crime in his pocket as other people did coins.

So after strapping on skates, he got on the ice and started getting the hang of it. He swung the stick around and found how the part of the game involving hitting a target came much easier than the part where you remain standing while doing so. He looked at the others. They obviously had some experience on the ice. He himself had absolutely none. He considered taking of the skates and just using his boots. He might be disqualified for that. On the other hand, he was quite sure that severing somebody’s leg was against the rules as well.

He would just have to improvise a little, and use his experience in combat. After all, he had his hands. He could simply throw some people around if the situation demanded it. And those hockey sticks made it so damn easy to get a hold of people. They were extensions waiting to be grabbed. He looked at Katie and gave her a thumbs up. He understood his position and would do his best to get her some room. Shoving people around was what he was best at.

(OOC: He'll combine what he knows about hockey with what he knows about other sports if it helps him clear the way. He'll swing his stick like a baseball bat at opponents, grab helmets and driving them down to the ice, and he'll probably try to throw some of the other team out of the ring accidentally. This is the first round, and he'll try to stick to the rules, even though he doesn't know what the rules are.)

Hey Guys,

Just got home, and I'm dead... well... almost.

In any case, I'm going to have to postpone posting once more until tomorrow evening (my evening, mind you, not US Central Time). So, hopefully that will be in time. I hate being late, and I'm not usually one to wait so long, but life is hectic at the moment.

Also, welcome Tek! Good to have another skater in our midst.

Subject: no post this week

I'm am very sorry to announce that I won't be able to get a post in this week. I'm overly busy, with stuff that needs to be done before next week. So, I hope it's not that big of a deal that I can't post this weekend.

I guess I'm reaching the age where you have so much to do that if you don't manage your time right, you'll end up with one paragraph in the game, and two apologizing in the Q/A.

So, to keep the standard high, I'm not going to go there. I'm still very interested in this game, since I think it's one of the best out there at the moment.

See you all next week.

Things went fast suddenly. Argent had his mind occupied with the guards at the gate, and figuring out the best way to evade them. He was still pondering about the situation when a new danger presented itself.

This guy was fast! But Argent hadn't spent hours of training and aligning his body and mind to be caught of guard now. He quickly regained his composure, and was thankful for his ever watchful and quick witted brother.

As the man turned to flee, the monk took off and sprinted after him, in mid-run preparing for a precision punch.

(OOC: Going for the man and using stunning fist on him if he reaches him in time.)

Subject: guns and guards

As the plan crashed and started to burn, Luke knew they were in a tight spot. Literally.

The car was quickly becoming a death trap, and so he knew what course to take. He flung the door open and jumped behind it, using it as a shield. Cocking his head around the corner he aimed his gun at one of the two Germans with G41s. There was not time for thinking about the lives these soldiers had lived before the war, and the ones they were hoping to be living afterwards. This was a moment of evolution. Survival of the fittest… or the quickest in this situation.

As he shot, he heard Doc call out for lady Hofstetter to get on the floor. He couldn’t help but feel that getting on the floor was probably the last thing she would want to do. So, still clutching the luger and trying to shoot the guards, he reached for his own gun, ready to pass it to the woman.

(OOC: as stated, he’s opting to kill the G41 guys first. If they’re already down once it’s his turn, he’ll take the one who is running. )

Topic: Tales of City Fantastico
Subject: More action

The gangsters fell like pins in the way of Gerald’s bowling ball of justice. He never knew bowling could be a team sport, but the others seemed as keen on getting these thugs erased from the city as he was. Perhaps Mr Fantasi V was as brilliant as his father after all, in assembling this team? Gerald had heard the speculations and never thought much of it. The man was a Fantasti. Somewhere in there should be some of his father’s genes.

Gerald Downhouser wasn’t the brightest duck in the pond, but he knew about genes. He watched TV and heard conversations about newborns and their likeness to parents, and had realized something. Genes determine what you are. If your father’s hairy, fat chance the child is hairy. If the mother’s a blonde, so will the child. Naturally, if any of the parents are criminal, so will the offspring.

In most cases. And so Gerald had made a habit of visiting the parents of every drug dealer, pimp, crime lord or Chinese gambling addict he ever busted. He had gone through some very rough negotiations on those visits, questioning their parental skills, asking if they were involved in criminal activities themselves, or even going so far as to force a drug test on them if he felt it was necessary.

He almost always felt it was necessary.

So he had learned that a big portion of the aggression harboured in the guilty was also present in their parents.

Now, looking at the bodies of the thugs, he made a mental note to figure our their parents’ address for a future visit.

Then he made his way over to where their contact was being crowded by his team members.

It appeared that Vigaro was aiding the man with some medical skills. Gerald joined them all too late to see what exactly happened, but caught part of the last phrase the young man had uttered:
“To the cooler! Preferably one without any blood in it. Don't want to get an infection! I worked hard to keep this guy sterile!”

Obliging immediately Gerald picked up their contact with his two massive arms and cradled him close to his chest.

“Don’t worry mister,” he said as he walked over to the van, “You’re in good hands now.”

After putting the man in one of the coolers, he went outside again to take a look at the fire, which was still blazing all around him. After a moment of brain-silence he instinctively picked up two of the dead thugs. With one in each hand he began to swing them overhead, much like he had seen done by firedancers in one of the fancy clubs he once cleaned up. Standing close to the fire, he was hoping to fan out the flames.

(OOC: If that doesn’t work, he’ll simply stack the bodies in row on the flames. It will most likely take a little while before they start burning, and it will create a nice little window for Percy to exit the ring of fire. I’m sure the Ice Creep Man won’t mind ramping over a bunch of dead people. )
