Subject: the prank of the century... ha-ha-ha how funny

I knew this man wasn’t to be trusted! Elandor thought to himself. And there is no way I’m going to hand him any of the treasure in this dungeon.

He looked at the chest behind him, and noticed the magical plate was still there. They faced a problem now. When they touched the plate it showed a beautiful vision; the way to the first Godstone. But when the vision completed, they were flung backwards. So, how were they going to take it with them? They couldn’t leave it behind for those scoundrels to pick it up and follow their trail again. He leaned upon his hoopak and thought deeply. Then he regarded his elbow, and his gaze went down to the stick that was a symbol of his race. His hoopak, a sling as well as a staff, would aid him without battle this time.
He opened his backpack and aimed his weapon at the plate inside the chest. Using the telekinetic powers he tried to let the thing float into his pack. This way they were sure to bring the thing and not arouse the suspicion of the thugs. (assuming he succeeds: ) To complete the trick he closed the lid of the chest before moving to the other members of his party.

(will continue or post another one once we have a proper view on who’s telling the thugs we’re collecting the treasure.)

Turns out I didn't need the DC yet.... Draven missed. That also means: There is an update waiting for the party. Another round of combat is over, and a new one is waiting for actions. I want to ask all of you to post before Saturday. I know I'm not giving you all a lot of time. If you don't have time to post, just let me know what your character intends. But know that I will reward extra XP for those of you who have a post in before the weekend (also for non-party members).

Brings me to another point: Experience. I update XP after each encounter. So keep track of the XP table in the first post of this Q/A!

Kharolis Mountains
Troshba’s Grounds
13th day of the 7th month: Pfier
0:29 pm

Gunar still tried furiously to focus Troshba’s attention on himself. He had definitely succeeded before and now, with the help of Tobin the Cidal, he was enraging the creature beyond words. From her airborn position, Troshba tightened her lips and growled at every remark. She was intelligent enough not to bite back without proper care though. But Gunar had her attention, and that was all the fighter really wanted. Now it was time for tactics.
Last time he had let the beast surprise him with a diving attack. He would make sure that didn’t happen again. Still cursing the creature with everything he could think of he readied his magical axe, to make a fast blow, should she attack again.

Draven used the diversion to concentrate on his throw. He had drawn one of his deadly darts, and enjoyed its feel while he got ready for it to fly. The dart itself was cool, but the poison would definitely burn upon impact. Anticipating the right moment by judging the creature’s movement, the hunter of souls flicked his wrist and pressed forward with his arm. The dart flew at Troshba like a shadow. For a moment it seemed like collision with the monster was inevitable, but at the last moment she heaved herself up in the air in preparation for an attack. Draven couldn’t believe it, but his dart missed her by inches.

Meanwhile, Loda had regained some control of her health, and now realized the danger in this situation. She had highly underestimated this creature named Troshba. Perhaps she had judged to quickly. In any case, it was an abomination of all she believed in, and it had to die in order to restore balance in the mountain’s ecosystem. And if not for that, than just for the fact of harming her and her companions. Loda would give the monster its share of pain, but right now defense was more important. She called upon Kharox to aid her in this. The god’s power of creation sent a unnerving sensation through her skin. It dried, tightened and wrinkled up, hardening like the wood on a tree. Although uneasy, she was now better protected against whatever Troshba would do next.

Tobin Tumblebelly was enjoying himself, so it seemed. He dove happily behind a bigger rock, and peered around it to judge the monster’s location. Encouraging and aiding Gunar in infuriating the monster he safely drew an arrow and got his magical bow ready. With a quick step he got in a good enough position to fire. Through his mask two bright eyes took aim, and the arrow was released.
At the exact same moment, Troshba drew back her tail. They could see how new spikes had formed upon it. She flung the tip at the party in anger. Her tail flicked heavily and the spikes came flying at them. This time they were not directed at a single foe, but spread across a wider area.
Two flew at Gunar. One bounced harmlessly from his chest (a mighty feeling that is), but the second one struck right in his hip. The pain made him stumble for a few seconds, but he regained his readied position, gritting his teeth.
Whether aimed at Loda or Gunar, a third spike flew a hair from the male Khord’s flank and buried itself deep in Loda’s belly. She looked at the thing in disbelief. Had she not cast her spell for extra protection? Then the pain set in, and Loda could barely keep herself from vomiting.
A fourth spike in the rain of pain broke itself upon the rocks in between Loda and Draven. The man looked at it as if it was an annoying fly. With the same gaze he regarded the fifth spike that was now sticking from his right leg.
The sixth and final spike flew straight at the point where Tobin had just released his arrow. The spike would’ve struck true, but Tobin leaned to the side right in time for it to fly by without hitting him. His own arrow was in a better path, and pierced Troshba’s hide right below her left wing. A wild roar told them that it had done its work.

Alyssia jumped into action as soon as she saw Loda being hit again. Calling upon her goddess again she prayed that the druid would see her errors and had suffered enough. Her healing spell bathed the Khord in a radiant energy, but Alyssia felt that her goddess had not granted a full healing. Though forgiving, Lysora was also disapproving of the druid’s actions against Troshba.

(OOC: Jozan, you must be a critical-hit-magnet. You got one again. Loda’s bleeding stopped, and the spike is out of her belly. She’s back to the amount of HP she had at the beginning of this round. Gunar is in pain, but has suffered worse in his life. Draven’s leg is feeling numb after a fast shot of sharp pain. Perhaps a nerve has been cut. Tobin is the only one who did damage to Troshba this round and she’s still very much alive so it seems. Sorry for the long update. Hope you guys don’t mind the reading, I try giving each character the attention they deserve.
Also, I hope that you can all post before Saturday. I would like to take up my old schedule again and update on that day. If you all help me out that would be appreciated. I would like to end this battle before Christmas.)

Subject: update for Geim and El

Khordal Kingdom
The Grand Library
23rd day of the 7th month: Pfier
5:12 pm

“My name is Mrs. Orebelly, eh.. Geim. I’m the librarian of this section of the Grand Library. You’re free to council the books and take notes, but you’re not allowed to taken any of them out of here. Also, I would like all the books you used to be brought to me, once you’re done. I take great pride in the creation of order. I will be at my desk.”

With that Mrs. Orebelly returned to her desk. Between shelves Geim could see the desk, it was stacked with opened books. He saw the librarian sit down and start to pen feverishly. She was obviously drawn into some kind of research. That’s why she had not noticed him coming into the room. Apart from her and himself, the books where the only thing to occupy the room. And right now Geim turned his attention to them.

It took him quite a while to find what he was looking for. The range of information was vast, and there were many tomes about the time era he needed. But after 20 minutes he stumbled upon a journal describing the travels of a Khordaldrum explorer who visited Chakranna. Going through the journal, Geim noticed how the explorer had more of an eye for the drinks and the good food of the Chakrandrum, rather than describing their city. Still it was information, and with some filtering it could be useful.

However, time was ticking.

(OOC: The information is so limited that it would be better to take the book. As a Runemaster, you know that that’s a crime.)

Maelamin Kingdom
Bladesinger Keep
25th day of the 7th month: Pfier
8:40 pm

The orc approached, slowly but steadily. The ensnared bladesinger peered at him intently, disbelieving the fact that an orc would be allowed on these grounds. Still, her gaze did not reveal any hints of illusion or trickery. She was wasting precious time for nothing.
The orc paced forward, securely stepping over certain tiles. Elessarae noted them, and took them to mind. There, they made way for a spell, verbal in nature, since her hands were still bound.
A bright flare sprang from her mind and into the orc’s face. For a moment it averted its head, then looked up, unaffected. With an expressionless face it drew its rapier and darted forward.

Ensnared by ropes Elessarae was unable to defend herself. She had only her armor to protect her. Still, that seemed to help her now, for the sharp tip of the weapon bounced off her chain shirt. The edge scraped over the metal, downwards, to cut in her leg. Though a minor wound, Elessarae was now bleeding. She had to find a way out of the ropes immediately, for the orc prepared for a second attack.

(OOC: I will update for the party later, once I have all the information on who does what)

Subject: the king of the sea

Elandor was flying. How he had missed the leap into the air from the underground chamber with the chest, he didn’t know. Actually, he didn’t care. This was amazing! For the second time in his quest he defied the laws of his ancestors. Kender do not fly … it was a joke!

Elandor twirled around and saw the brown land upside down. The city of glass, molten into blackness, passed under him. Somewhere down there were his companions. Elandor dove down, eyes closed in enjoyment, to go tell them of his new flying feat. When he opened his eyes, he found himself still gliding at high speed over the vast deserts. The city of Hajin Ra was far behind him. How could this be? He definitely had steered downwards.
His arms started flapping wildly around him, trying to control direction. The rogue found he could not. There was nothing else left to do but enjoy the ride.

And what a ride it was! The little man was oohing and aahing all around the globe it seemed. He saw the places of his dreams. But whatever happened on this long journey, nothing exceeded the boost of adrenaline that rushed through his body at the sight of the whale. The giant tail rose like a magnificent leaf on invisible wind. It waved at Elandor in majestic grandeur. The kender waved back frantically.
That creature must be the king of the ocean. he thought. And he’s waving at me!
As the tail splashed its way beneath the surface Elandor yelled out to it: “Bye! Tell all your friends Elandor said hi! I’ll come visit you one day, when all this saving the world stuff is over!”
He could see himself riding the waves on the back of his new friend. The whale and the kender, friends for life. But his vision was interrupted by a new sight. Islands forming into a perfect ring, in their center a vortex of water. Elandor wanted to go back, to warn the whale not to there, but again he found he could not. He wanted to scream, in an effort to come through to his friend, but he was sucked down with such force. The very air got stolen from his lungs. An anger built up inside the kender. He felt himself starting to change. He turned into a shell, and with three pearls from three of the surrounding islands he plunged himself into the maelstrom, like a cannonball into a mighty castle. He noticed a temple, but didn’t think much of it. What was important now was stopping the swirl of water before the whale would get there.

As he drowned himself under tons of water the vision ended. Elandor found himself by the chest, Teros’ hands supporting his back. He looked up at the warrior.

“We need to go save the whale! We must stop the maelstrom, because I think I didn’t quite do it yet. There’s no time to waste. Who knows when my friend arrives at the ring of islands.”

After Rinrin’s turn he was glad somebody else saw how badly they needed to go.

“God Stones? No, pearls. I need to change into a shell and then you guys have to put three pearls in me, since I won’t have any more arms to do it myself. And then you must cast me into the maelstrom, so we can save my friend, the king of the sea!”

Kharolis Mountains
Troshba?s Grounds
13th day of the 7th month: Pfier
0:28 pm

The devastating attack by Troshba, who was now flying above their heads, got the group in motion. The tension had been building up and they too had anticipated this violent outcome.

Gunar bravely jumped before Loda and started distracting the beast with foul taunts. While the beast was in the air he could do nothing to harm it, but he could make sure the druid didn’t take any more damage.
Behind him, Loda tried to focus on a spell. She closed her eyes and called out to Kith Jora, patron of nature, to heal her wounds and let her destroy this twisted creature. As she moved her hands in gestures according to the spell she could feel the spikes sticking from her body. Nausea almost took over, but the spell completed and a faint green glow surrounded the new wounds. The stream of blood ended as worst of the pain subsided. Loda opened her eyes just in time to see the spike that had protruded from her chest fall to the floor. The other three still remained in place, though they caused less pain then before. Loda was healed, but she was far from healthy.

Up in the air, Troshba regarded the druid. She didn’t seem likely to open her big mouth again without proper respect. The other bearded humanoid had jumped before her though, as a living shield. It angered the monster that it dared to stand in the way of her prey. The humanoid would die too, then! He had chosen his own path to death.
Letting her wings come to a stop in backward position, Troshba let herself almost fall down towards the Khord. Like a spear she dropped at him in an airborne charge. With a readied claw she raked his neck and face as she flew by him, leaving a series of deep gaps that pulsed and bled heavily. Continuing on she flew up again, though this time not as high as she had been.

Turning around with Troshba’s fly-by attack, Alyssia sighed. She asked her Goddess for help, but the only thing she felt was deep sorrow for what had become of this encounter. Lysora was silent and grief built up inside the sorceress. The grief seemed to bundle itself within her hands and shot out as three missiles of force. They flew right at Troshba, who was already turning for her next attack. The monster saw the missiles coming, tried to evade in a twisted move. But Alyssia knew that evading was impossible. The impact of the arrows opened the creature’s eyes wide with astonishment. These bites bit back!

(OOC: Loda is still hurt pretty badly. Gunar has a bleeding wound in the face, but is still healthy. There’s no way of knowing how badly Troshba is hurt. Valimar, I’m giving you the option of back posting. Your initiative will be right after Alyssia. That’s a favor I won’t keep on giving, btw.)

Khordal Kingdom
Geimiedefher’s home
23rd day of the 7th month: Pfier
5:01 pm

Geimiedefher hurried home to get all the stuff that he would need for the upcoming journey. For the second time that day he moved through the tunnel with homeless Khords. Once home Geim went over a mental list of things that he would need. Whirling through his house he collected what he needed and hurried out the door, towards the Grand Library.
It was late midday and thus high tide at the enormous stalactite. Khords went and came, whatever business they were in distracted them from noting this Runemaster in a hurry. It was not common for a Runemaster to be on fiery shoes, for they usually took all the time in the world. It had taken a lot of time for knowledge to develop, and they would take the time to dissect it.

Geimiedefher knew exactly where to go for books on the Chakrandrum. There was a special selection of tomes from the time era when the Chakrandrum had still been breathing. He found the shelves that supported possible information. They were covered in the freshest layer of dust, but so far perfectly readable. Just when Geim peered at the first title a sharp voice penetrated the silence.

“Can I help you?”

A Khordaldrum woman stood at the end of the bookshelves and looked straight at him. Her beard was red and nicely trimmed, and her eyes cleared by a pair of glasses. She was probably the keeper of this section of the Grand Library.

Maelamin Kingdom
Bladesinger Keep
25th day of the 7th month: Pfier
8:40 pm

The rope that was now circling Elessarae’s body lifted her up upon the song initially. It started carrying her through the air, further down the tunnel. The rope that had been tight around her foot released its grip and the bladesinger was practically floating now. She now saw how more rope-ends hung from the ceiling. When the rope that was holding her now came to its end another one took over. Starting a new song Elessar tried to maintain the peace, for it aided her well.
This new song did not digest well for the rope though, for it suddenly tightened and squeezed the air from the woman’s lungs. She had anticipated that move though, and within a brief struggle she was loose and heading for the floor. She caught herself well, and landed perfectly. Her smile quickly faded as she heard a clicking sound from beneath the tile under her. Instantly five ropes dove at her and entangled her hands and feet before she could hack at them. A fifth rope was now ensnaring her abdomen, though it seemed to restrain from tightening.

Then, one of the doors on the right opened, and an orc in full battle outfit entered the hallway.

(OOC: You made your grapple check and was released. Your reflex save did not go high enough though, so you’re stuck again now. The orc is approaching and carrying a rapier in his belt. You are still holding your sword, bur are unable to do battle like this.)

This must be the coolest game around. You give the Red Dragon Inn a good vote, and you post in this thread that you did.

Where do we vote?
You vote at The RPGgateway

Why do we vote?
Positive votes get us higher on the Die Roller's Top 100, and that gives us great publicity. Also, the user with the most votes wins!

What's the fun in this game?
ehm... if we go higher up the Die Rollers Top 100, more people will join us in the other silly games we have going on.

Alright, get to voting, but remember to only vote once a day.

lol... I was bored. But please vote... it's fun.

I think that all races should be judged the same way, according to which God's ideas they lived after.

What if the afterlife is divided in a plane of good, neutral and evil, and within those planes, each god has its own cluster of space?

As in a what really happens: I'm for judgement, then being sent to whatever plane your soul needs to reside on.
But will this be in a council or with one judge (being the god of death, or a new entity)?
