Hello Red Dragon Inn fans!

Some of you may know of a site called the RPGgateway. It's a website, or inventory for all things on the web pertaining to gaming and roleplaying. This gateway hosts a top 100 for best gaming/rpg sites. We need your help to vote for the Red Dragon Inn, to keep a high ranking. It is important that you vote regularly, but never more than once a day, to maintain that ranking.

Why is high ranking important?
Answer: We're proud of the inn and want more people to share our experience!

Follow this link to vote on The RPGgateway.

Thanks

Subject: new players

4 players is enough to play a game. 5 or 6 is the ideal number for great combat (I like to give a challenge). I sent some invitations, but I don't know if people will accept. I'm looking for 2 replacement, since Jozan officially quit and either Drakar or Vesper could return, but probably not both.

Dragon M, does your sister have any experience with roleplaying? We can ask her if I get a NO from my invites. In any case, I do not want to put up a recruitment thread. I've learned that more people may reply to that, who will end up not posting anyway.

Good players of this game, I need your help. We're facing ourselves a problem: We have 3 people who haven't posted in some time, or gave any notice of still visiting the site.

What do we do with this? Shall we wait for their return, find replacements or anything else?

advice please

Topic: The Chakran Portal - Q/A
Subject: as for the burns

I really don't know what kind of degree they are. According to the damage you can decide which kind they are, and where what is burned. In a tabletop game I would be the one to decide all that, but I trust that you're capable of making it interesting AND realistic.

as for healing: healing heals everything except clothing of course. Healing gives no marks, scars etc.

Maelamin Kingdom
Bladesinger Keep
25th day of the 7th month: Pfier
9:06 pm

She danced for 20 minutes before the council. Her wounds and burns dragged her performance below her usual level, but if the elder bladesingers noticed, they didn’t show. In fact, they didn’t show any emotion at all. That didn’t indicate a thing though, since they were trained to withhold signs of thought and feeling.

When she was done, stumbling for balance on the rug, she became aware of a familiar tune. How long had it been playing already? And where had she heard it before?
Then she realized that it was the tune that had been the main melody in her bladesong. She had created the variations on the spot, and recognized them now as they were repeated by an invisible fluteplayer.

One of the bladesingers got up from his seat and clapped his hands twice. It looked like appreciation, but who could know for sure? Then, a friendly smile followed, and he held out a hand to Elessarae. When she took it he guided her through a door into a room where a bed was waiting.

“Please rest. We shall discuss your performance and get back to you.”

He closed the door and left Elessar by herself.

Khordal Kingdom
The Grand Library
23rd day of the 7th month: Pfier
5:31 pm

The low tones of secrecy in the librarian’s voice were instantly replaced by exited explanation.

“The Chakran Portal was created during the first dwarf-elven war. It was a magical or supernatural portal created to compensate for the lost trade. The sylvari forces blocked all trade between Chakranna and Khordal, you know. So, using this portal, the Chakrandrum and the Khordaldrum stood in direct contact with each other. Even after the dwarf-elven war the portal still brought great riches to both nations. Then, the portal was shut down somewhere during the ogre wars. Since then, the lore to open it has been lost, and the districts around the portal have fallen into poverty. You know, it’s the east side of the Warrens of Rvisthorn. A place where you and I shouldn’t go.
That’s what I know about it. I’m sure there should be more about it in these books around us.”

She motioned to the library.

“Is there anything else you might want to know? You could also come over to my home one day, if you like. I could clear up some things for you.”

Kharolis Mountains
Khordal Kingdom
22nd day of the 7th month: Pfier
0:29 pm

The guard thought about Tobin’s question for a minute. He looked at his fellows for aid, but they were suddenly very busy with peering around at the mountains.

“Well, what you really shouldn’t miss, I guess, is the Hall of Kings and the Gamulqolfelir. They pretty much form the base of our society. You can see the tombs of our old Kings and the rules and laws of our people. It sounds kinda boring saying it like that, but it’s impressive when you’re there.”

He turned to Draven, who was making moves to enter the cave.

“Sir, please mind your steps in the Warrens of Rvisthorn. It’s the darkest place in Khordal. Keep to yourself, and stay out of the lightless area’s. It’s a warning any surface walker should take to heart.”

(OOC: Dragon M you’ll have to excuse me. I’ll update with a proper post for you soon. I don’t have the time right now, and I don’t want to rush it and lose quality.
For the rest of you. Look at the map in the Q/A. Tell me your intentions. I will wait for people one more week. If I don't get reaction, I think I should get to recruiting new people.)

you never heard of those "And now a random fact about..." sites? They're all over the internet. They're mostly about Vin Diesel, Chuck Norris and Mr T. (from the A-team)They're hilarious.

"Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their hall of stone,
Nine for the Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,
Twenty rings to make Mr. T look cool,
Upon them inscribed, "I pity the fool."

Subject: helping yes, understanding no

Elandor hadn’t even seen the reptilian humanoids until they started helping his friends into their boat. With the wyrm crawling on the bottom of the river, he swam quickly to join his companions. Not that he was afraid of being eaten by the monster. That would probably be another experience worth going through. As long as he would be eaten alive and in one piece. There’s no fun in getting chewed in half, he reasoned. Although the possibilities were not necessarily bad, Elandor realized that the being swallowed part might be hard to undergo consciously.
Better to just join his friends in the boat, and see what the lizardfolk were up to.

It appeared they were up to some kind of party in the honor of the dragon eel. And they asked them to help out with the preparations! That sounded like a lot of fun!

“Yes, we would love to help you guys out with your party! That’s great, not only do we make new friends, we learn of their habits right away. How do you see this sacrifice? You’re not going to offer one of your own, are you? I say we catch a bunch of fish, put some good seasoning over them and prepare them to the eel’s liking, but if you think that’s not really the thing to do, then just let us know and we’ll come up with something else more suitable for your mighty guardian who makes sure you get food in safety so that you can live long and happily with a sacrifice every now and then.”

Elandor gasped for air after the long burst of words. He saw the dumbfound expression on the lizardman’s face and realized that the creature probably hadn’t caught a single word of what he had said.

“We –pointing at himself- will – help – you – pointing at the lizardman.”
He repeated with a big grin.

Valimar! Draven is such a Damien (Noldaria inside joke).

You'll be in for something good in that inn, I promise. I might even postpone the Big Meeting to give all of you a better tour around Khordal -as I see it.

For Greenleaf and Dragon M, you'll both have plenty to do before joining the party.

Ok, I'm a cheater, I posted before it was my turn really. But you will all have to deal with it. There's still plenty of time to reply to the -what to do in Khordal- thing. Tell me what you want to do there, or what KIND of thing, and I'll tell you where and how. Also, you can reply to eachother and make deals on where to go, where to meet etc.

hope to see you all post soon

Kharolis Mountains

22nd day of the 7th month: Pfier
0:29 pm

One of the guards had been eyeing Draven while inspecting the cart. When the warrior approached and asked for the best public place of consumption, the Khord looked at him again. For a few seconds he checked the human before him. A definite stern answer followed.

“I suppose someone of your liking would be a good fit in the “Clouded Mug”. Ask for directions in the Rvisthorn Warrens.”

He turned to the others of the group and smiled.

“So what are you all interested in seeing? First time in Khordal? Share me your interests, and I’ll tell you where to go.”

(OOC: Still aiming to get a bigger update in on Saturday. So if all of you can post before that, it would be greatly appreciated. I need to know: Where you go, who you go with, what you intend to do there etc etc. Please message me about your wished in the Q/A so others can see them and decide to go as a group or not. I could make a gargantuan list of things there are to do in Khordal Kingdom, but that wouldn't work. I need you guys to come up with initiatives.)

The elf before her smiled softly at her reply. It seemed to please him.

“Properly attired you say? One will never know what to expect from life, and can never be properly attired for every occasion. Thus, it is better to do what you can, with what you have.”

He motioned for her to step forward, as the other elves returned to their seats at the long table. When they moved, Elessarae could see a pattern of circles on the carpet under her feet. The Elder Bladesinger guided her towards a centered round of hunter’s green, before the table. He then took his feet off the carpet, and from the stone floor completed his lecture.

“You come here today on request of this council. You have taken part in a test that is only halfway through. As an aspirant Bladesinger you must’ve studied the arts of the bladesong. We are confident that you have come up with your own display of our fine art. We shall witness it now, and recognize that if you can show us perfection in this state, you are worthy of consideration.”

A silence fell. This was Elessar’s moment.

Khordal Kingdom
The Grand Library
23rd day of the 7th month: Pfier

“I’m glad you find it as fascinating as myself.” Mrs Orebelly continued.

“Yes, it was most definitely an elf. He wore a common elven outfit, at least, as far as I know. Him and Idolain seemed pretty happy with their findings. I don’t know what they were up to, but wouldn’t it be great if they found a way to bring the portal back to life? Kharox be praised, we could find the lost Lore of the Chakrandrum. The Cobbleforge Stables would love to get their hands on that. You bet! I always wondered why nobody tried to dig deeper into that matter. After the first century I suppose people forgot about them. What do you make of the whole situation?”

(OOC: As a Runemaster you’ve heard the name Chakran Portal before. What it is exactly you do not know.)

The look on Mrs Orebelly’s face when Geim sat down told him that he was in for something good. She leaned in and took a deep breath.

“I’m not supposed to tell anyone, since my work here has its confidentiality…” she whispered, “but I’ve got a good one for you here. Three days ago I got a little visit from Idolain Cobbelforge himself. You know, from the famous Cobbleforge family? He was in the company of an elf! They were investigation something about the Chakran Portal. I thought that was highly interesting.”

too much fun? hehe... maybe. But you want her to be a member of an elite force that works with and for the best. You didn't think that joining would be a matter of a little song and some bow-hunting?

but seriously, this test will really prepare you for what's coming.

If I have time I will update for Greenleaf and Dragon M. tomorrow (saturday).

Subject: kill this beast

Things were suddenly moving fast. Elandor had hoped the creature was reasonable and anciently wise. But the darkness of its habitat had probably projected a permanent hate of light in the eel’s brain. How could a creature think that conceited. The pure hatred and superior attitude was something Elandor did not even try to understand. Teros’ words had been beautiful and sincere. The kender had been really touched when his glorious quest was revealed to him fair and square once again. The dragon eel was not impressed, and even made fun of the desert man for stating their business openly. It should’ve been impressed!

There was no time to linger on how events should’ve turned out. But one thing was certain: if they couldn’t beat this creature, they would not stand the tests that lay before them either.

The dragon eel went down, only to reappear with a sudden burst of the waters. Damien was sticking from its mouth like a worm in a bird’s beak. But the worm proved to have some tricks, and it was definitely not the only worm in the area. His counterpart in emotional unbalance, embodied in Elandor Underhood, was there and ready to strike. From the darkness of the water he protruded his hoopak. Kicking his legs rhythmically he tried to float on his back, his feet towards the monster and the bard. Aiming his forked walking stick over his belly he drew back a rock and let it fly at the eel’s jaw. He hoped that by applying some pain to the mouth part, the creature’s reaction would be to pop it open en drop the bard.
