Subject: words...

Luke hadn't caught the words that had been exchanged between Brutal and Doc. Now Doc asked Brutal to get some water, and the Corporal refused, he knew something was up. Be it attitude, friction or whatever, he knew they didn't need it in their team.

So, in a no-big-deal kind of way, he said: "Get the man some water, Corporal. Gives you an excuse to double check if we're alone."

Subject: Argent's wound

The battle was thickening, and taking longer than Argent had hoped for. These guards were tough.

The monk tried to focus his attention on his enemies rather than the throbbing wound he had received. He regretted having to take a man's life in order to save several. In the end, he told himself, it seemed these guards didn't have much respect for life themselves, firing away at the unarmed slaves. He pictured the command they had been given: Stop the escape at all cost.
It could not have sounded any other way, or maybe these men enjoyed strewing death around them.

He realized he was making excuses for himself, and found a calmness again in knowing that he cared.

"You can stop now and live." He called to the guards. "You don't have to die today."

If they react, he'll do his best to get everybody out safely. If they don't react, he'll be sure to kick the next guy before his action runs out.

"So it seems, Corporal." The Captain replied with a friendly smile towards the lady.

"Now, get Doc in here so he can look after the Lady's cheek. I'm sure he'll be able to help it from swelling."

He turned back to the woman. He really hoped they could persuade her to help them out. By the Heavens, they needed some help here.

"How about it Lady? Why don't we start with proper introductions. I'm Luke. What happened here?"

Subject: I demand... a sacrifice!!

Actually, I intentionally didn't put any remarks about translation in my last post. It was a double effort to test the people around the Captain... first a test to see if the woman speaks any English, second to see if Romo would translate out of his own accord, which the Captain hoped for.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. What does matter is the way to the castle, and if Vanadia's character is willing to help them. I'm hoping the young lady can tell us where it is located.
As for getting in... there are a few options. How about this one: The young lady is being escorted by her driver (Brutal, won't have to do the talking, she will do it for him). They go to the castle because they found a wounded SS officer (Romo in disguise) and one of his soldiers (whoever in the field outfit, I prefer it to be the Captain, but options are open). They want to bring them to the Castle because it was the first place they thought of with the means to properly care for them (or whatever). If the trunk allows two people, the other two will go in there, otherwise we'll have a problem.

I didn't really want to go for the whole: we captured Americans scheme because that would most likely lead to us being captured for real.

Any ideas, or better suggestions?

The Rdinn is a great place to try and get into a game. The thing is though: it's holiday season, and that means things slow down.

The question has been asked before, and the answer is always Yes. Still, it might not be as active as in other periods of the year.

If there is no game to get into, you're also free to start one yourself. I'm sure there are plenty more players waiting for a game to jump into.

Anybody seen the new teaser/trailer for the upcoming Smurfs movie? It looks awful!

Now I know I shouldn't have expected something close to the cartoons that I used to watch as a kid, but the 3D looks dreadfully average, and it seems to be set in New York?

What?

the samples looked like slices of brain to me... like horizontal sliced brain, you know? But I could be wrong.

Anyway... I vote for the guy being a crazy scientist. One whose mind broke, and wants to experiment on the survivors!

Subject: Trouble...

“She appears to be alone.” Brutal replied while Romo was strangely absent. Luke didn’t need to waste time. They had to get this show over with before it was too late. God knew how far away that castle was, and as bombs were developed, they were entertaining the local beauty. He understood beauty alright, had been a victim of it many times before quite willingly. Now, however, results were needed.

He stepped towards the door, and wanted to motion for Brutal to step inside. The man was a bit too fast for him and entered on his own accord. Luke turned to the trees, where McGuinness was hiding and held up his palm in a halting command. He hoped the sniper would realize what the Captain meant. He wanted McGuinness to wait a bit before advancing the cabin, in case there was somebody else waiting for a chance to take that car and betray their existence.

Inside he took a quick look around and fixed his eyes on the woman on the floor. As he regarded her, he spoke: “Brutal, while you’re at it can you look around to see if there are any spare uniforms we could use?”

He then turned to Romo: “Is she not talking?”

He looked at her red cheek and pursed his lips. The SShole got what he deserved, shirt or not. He beckoned her to get up and take a seat.

“Look lady, we don’t want any trouble... scratch that... we do want trouble, but just not with you. We need to find Castle Rautenberg. Do you know where it is?”

Which dwarf are you talking to? Argent is downstairs, while you are still up on the building, right?

Ok, post is in. Sorry about the delay. I've been very busy with other things, work mostly, and some projects that desired my attention and were more pressing.

Will do my best not to let it happen again.

As for the game... I'd hoped we pulled it off without a fight, but now we are in one: let's get this over quickly, like the first one inside the building. That means we have to think like a team, guys!

Subject: Argent is ready still

Everything went smoothly, beyond the hopes of the dwarven monk even. The slaves followed, they were silent, and the guards were drawn to other parts of the building.

But something had to go wrong, of course. A baby's cry escaped the muffling of it's mother.

Argent sighed. Why does it always end in a fight? he thought.
Still, he had been ready for it, and was still prepared to test his fists and heels against whatever the guards were going to throw at them. In any case, he was going to shield the slaves from as much harm as he could.

(OOC: Readied action: first guard within reach will be attacked. He puts himself just around the corner of the building, where bowmen won't have an easy time hitting him. He'll await the rush and hope the others will back him.)

Wondering if the total evilness of the DM will not extend to the fact that this adventure will end with a total party kill. THAT would be unexpected.

But it would give Brad the time to go to the doctor and get his wrist un-reversed (panel 4).

I really enjoyed the twist with the 'homies'. Unexpected, plausible, nice!

When the door opened and the German halted in surprise, Luke sighed inwardly. He had hoped this whole thing would end without too much bloodshed. He knew it wouldn’t be prevented in war, but he was more of an evasive kind of person, which was most likely why his superiors chose him for this assignment. Ever since his wife had died, he had mastered the art of dodging and evading. He had evaded mostly everything after she passed, except the care for his son, Julio. His mind lingered a moment on a memory of himself running away through the backyard of Mrs Williams, side-stepping the dog, jumping the fence, and casually avoiding Mr Williams’ attention.

Then an arrow burst through the German’s chest. It didn’t so much startle him. But it upset him greatly. Another shirt ruined that they could’ve used!

Brutal pointed his shotgun at someone inside, and at that point the Captain went for the window. His gun at the ready, he paced to the glass surface and noted a woman on the floor, a crossbow in her hand. She was very beautiful, and Luke felt his heartbeat slowing as he forgot the heat of war for a breath or two. Before he could react, Romo stepped inside and said something in German.

“Ask her if there are any more of them!” Luke shouted, snapping back into combat mode. He was hoping to get some information before any of them would get hurt by an unexpected ambush. Up to now, they had no reason to believe the woman was going to be helpful in any way. For all they knew she was another Nazi fanatic, beauty or no beauty.

(OOC: if she confirms there are no more men in there, Luke will order all the men inside, with McGuinness on the lookout, and Brutal near the door. Doc will scan the house for needful things while Romo helps him figure out what has been going on in this cabin, and who the woman is.)

Why am I on the roof? And Thiferl as well? I thought Argent went down first, and Thiferl lead the slaves into the alley.

My problem wasn't so much with focusing on the characters. A zombie movie isn't good unless it focuses on the characters. But for some reason I don't care too much about the people who get hurt. It's a golden rule in film/series that you have to have empathy for the person that gets into difficult situations or you won't care.
I don't care about a racist, white trash redneck, and if he cuts of his hand... good for him, not so much a cliffhanger as it would be if it were Rick himself, you know. (unless he comes back with a chainsaw on the end of his bloody stump, which would be awesome ). Just kidding.

I think they kinda balanced it out the wrong way: making ep 1 quick into the action, ep 2 good zombie survival, but ep 3 all about the characters?

Scarab has a point with his reference to Lost: too many characters at once. The power of Lost lay in the fact that they focused on one character in a single episode, though. Last episode on the Walking Dead had me confused as to who the lead was.
A scattered brain works when there is little to think about - Zombies! Run!! *Boom* *moan* ACTION! *brainfuzz*
It doesn't work when you have to get emotionally attached.

Wow. That was a just a bunch of loose thoughts... My brain is getting pulpy.

Just watched the latest episode... wasn't too thrilled actually. A zombie horror show just isn't as good without a whole lot of zombies.

Not saying it wasn't good... but it didn't have me longing for next Sunday like the others did.
