Subject: what's up people?

I'm all for going with my gut feeling and kicking ass. But that's not very like my character. So, if there is anybody bold enough to mention the scream we heard? Or otherwise provoke anything of a reaction?

Hey Attraidies, and welcome to the inn.

Yes, online gaming is very different from tabletop, but it satisfies the need for great roleplaying. And with the Inn you've found one of the most pleasant of sites on the net for this purpose.

Argent walked into the office, seeing how his brother was occupied by other things.

"Excuse me," he began, "Dwarves are generally good at their crafts, but we offer something special."

He walked over to the desk, casually conversing, bragging, about the business he and his brother would start. His whole demeanor was light-hearted but with an air of self-conviction.

"This smithies will be more than a shop with magnificent weapons... This..."
He walked around the desk to stand eye to eye with the man,

"This will be the complete experience. You know how the masses like to be entertained!? This shop will hold an aura of craft and magic that is tangible. You feel the heat without any of the discomfort. You see the sweat without the unpleasant smell. It's the romantic side of expertise with the outcome of true perfection."

He was selling it like he would sell the shop to real investors, with just a little extra flavour put into it.

"You can imagine that it takes more than a simple stand at the marketplace to hold a shop like this. To build an empire, you have to think bigger."

He turned to the door behind the man, where the cry had come from.

"Now if we can look around to see if this matches our plans, I will pay you handsomely afterwards."

He put his hand on the door handle. In reality, however, he was more focused on the man behind the desk and his associates, then on actually opening it. He wanted to test their reaction, and was ready if they proved hostile.

With all the games I'm currently in, I don't have time immediately, but this game is still on my list of to do things. But it will take a while, so if you guys want to jump start it, give it a go.

As Eol said: It's freeform. The best freeform games have started from a few guys having fun together. If you're with two already, perhaps others would join?

The latest news concerning Avatar 2, btw, is that a big part of it will take place underwater. I don't know if an underwater setting would make for great gaming, but it might.

Subject: Taking down Mrs Fanner

“What sorcery?" Tuck gasps. "This be no sorcery, master Will. This is straight out of Revelations. You should visit my services more often.”

As the young man slices at what had been the mother of the baker’s aid just a minute ago, he whispers the words that until now had only contained some vague metaphor. They seemed all too real now:

That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

When Will turns to face the newcomer, Tuck was panicking. Together with the young lad he bashes at Annette Fanner with all his strength. She gurgles loudly when he strikes her throat, and falls backwards.

“Michael Tuck! What do you think you’re doing!” She exclaims sternly, moments before Will could strike a deadly blow to her head. She trembles as she tries to sit up.
“Is that how you treat all you’re devotees?”

It takes the friar a good moment to realize that Mrs Fanner has been a cripple since as long as he could remember, and she often stumbles a walk after dark. He fumbles for an excuse, but doesn’t have time to find one. Behind the fallen Mrs Fanner, a bent figure approaches. It is Gregory Fanner, Annette’s husband.

He’s been dead for over 10 year.

Topic: How Did You First Find Red Dragon Inn?
Subject: The earlier days

I found the inn in the earlier days of the internet. It was when we had a new dial-up connection at my parents' house, and I was looking around on the net for websites that would concern D&D. I found a few that were nice, and eventually stumbled upon Effie Rover's portal. There I found a link to the inn.

I looked around a bit, but with dial-up things go sloooooowwwww, and it was relatively expensive to be online for a longer time. Plus, nobody in the house could make phone calls while the internet was on. So I didn't stay on long, but long enough to see there was a chat option.

I didn't return until cable internet was affordable. I again went looking for dnd sites, when I remembered that chat function. I was dying to talk to players from around the world to hear and learn from their experiences. So, I returned to the inn.

...and became a regular in chat, but didn't join games. Back then, you didn't have to have a username to join chat, which made it very accessible to DnD-ers (but also to spammers and teenage japanese chatters who didn't know D from D). Then I made a username and joined my first (free form) game.

Subject: The end

I've been on a holiday and have returned, and Deucalion is the only one who has updated in this group. I've discussed things with Niaou'li from group 1, who's been with me since the beginning of the game, and we concluded that Spores has become too much of a drag.

I want to thank everybody who actively posted. Unfortunately we have had too many players come and go, a lot of them even without a word. So before it becomes more of a drag than it is now, I'm pulling the plug. The other group has only two active member left as well.

I'll be looking forward to DMing something else with the people who stuck to the end. It was fun while it lasted.

Understandibly, Daleel tried the door to the office. It was only logical that the Halfling moved them further, if nobody replied to their presence outside. But apparently he was noted as soon as the door opened, and they had to improvise. Argent moved to the door soon after it was opened, and relaxed his tread when he came close. Leisurely he approached the opening and let himself be seen as he turned to his brother.

“Perhaps it’s easier to just ask, instead of wandering around the building all the time?”

Their game was on, and although Argent didn’t know what to expect, as the situation confused him, he was not going to let it show. His brother would do the talking, and he would do his best to steer him in the right directions if need be.

I found that with the Robin Hood zombie-game people are really enthusiastic towards the concept, and then they don't join. I suppose that goes for zombies in Chicago as well. I'm cramped with games, otherwise I would gladly join.

Join this people! Zombies are awesome!

Subject: Back from Holiday! Let's continue the action. ;)

Tuck gasps at the sight of Jonathan burying his teeth in his mother’s flesh. Up to that point he had hoped that Will’s suspicion of the walking dead was just a silly fantasy of a young mind hoping to see his father again. Apparently, such was not the case. He turns his eyes to the heavens for an instant and solemnly vows: “I’ll never have another meat pie from that bakery.”

While Jonathan stumbles away, the friar moves towards the woman, ready to apply what little knowledge he has of healing. But as he bends over the bled out neck, she rises and tries to grab him. With more elegance than you would expect from a man as … well… let’s call it ‘stout’ for his sake… as Tuck, he jumps out of reach of the woman’s evil clutches. Dead eyes stare at him, and she bares her teeth at him.

“Rose! It’s me!” he calls out, clutching his staff in front of him as if it would form some kind of protection.

Jonathan’s mother turns on one hand and pushes herself up in an awkward, animalistic manner, never taking her eyes of him. Then she starts approaching, despite the deep gash in her neck, that decreasingly leaks blood. Tuck tries to calm her with words, but they go unheard. When she keeps coming with outstretched hands, he only sees one option.

“Dear God, forgive me.” He sighs, and gives her a hard whack with his staff. The animated corpse falls back, and for a moment it seems like that was the end of Rose. Then she stirs again.

“Will! How can we put her to rest!?” he cries out. And as he turns to the young archer, he notes another hulking shadow approaching. It is the crooked form of Annette Fanner, one who frequents Tuck’s services, and she stumbles over to the pair.

This is a note to everybody who's in a game I'm running, who's in a game with me, or whose game I'm in at the moment.

I'm going on a short vacation. Will be back on August 9th, and until that time will be camping without internet connection.

I hope you'll all have a great time until I return. Get posts in, I say!!

See you around.
