Welcome to the Inn!

I hope you will have a wonderful stay here! I saw Tus was starting a new game, so I'm sure you will both have a lot of fun in the coming period.

If there are any questions he cannot answer, don't be afraid to ask the staff, we're always willing to lend a hand.

Happy gaming!

Update is in! Hope you'll all enjoy.

I failed to include that one of the hippogriffs is now looking exceedingly bored at its surroundings at the edge of the pool, feeling utterly useless.

Topic: New Spores of Itanlok ~ 1 ~ A Short Adventure in Audalis
Subject: changing, changes, change

When the hand of stone plucked the Khord from the stem of the Giant Stinkhorn and began its ascend into darkness again, Niaou’li didn’t hesitate. She knew that if they wanted to find out anything else about this hand, somebody had to follow it. Looking around, she realized that she was the only one who had the power to do so.
And so she closed her eyes and connected to the landscape around her. The strange forms of the mushrooms and moulds around them might appear alien, but they were most of them still natural.
Niaou’li felt the energy of the world; the flow of life in its many guises. Deep in her soul a weightlessness erupted and she felt herself beginning to shrink. She blended with the energy around her, altering their state as much as her own. Her possessions became part of her, and from them grew feathers that covered her body. She heard a high shriek, and remembered it was she who had sounded it.

Then she was off into the air. Below her she could hear Crellin’s cries to take him with her, but she knew there was no time.

While the druid disappeared, there was another change occurring within the party. Baldorf was starting to vaporize. It started with a slight dizziness, an involuntary lightheaded feeling that crept slowly to his toes and manifested there into a gaseous transparency. Soon, where a solid Khord had stood, was now a white cloud that faded slowly with the moisturous air around them. Crellin could vaguely see his companion’s shape as it hovered over the black pool and slowly crept towards the Stinkhorn in the middle of it.
Berodin would’ve noticed it too, if he hadn’t been locked in the midst of concentrated prayer. He called out to his lord, and Solanis answered.

A brilliant light shot up from the loose earth not far from the pool, close to where the two remaining heroes were standing. It formed a perfect circle and blinded everybody for a fraction of a second. Then it was gone, and in the darkness it left stood three winged horses; horses with the heads of an eagle.

In the meantime, Niaou’li was flying fast, trying to catch up with the stone hand, and the Khord it was holding. Through the darkness she sped, when her sharper eagle eyes spotted the enormous form she was seeking. The hand and arm were still rising, though not too far up ahead she could see the ceiling of the cave approaching as well. She caught up with the arm, and noted how the hand was no longer as recognizably formed. It had changed into a solid rock, rough and sharp edged, with the vague form of fingers protruding. She could see the head of the Khord it had captured still sticking from its grasp.
Flying higher she tried to discern what the arm was attached to, but to her surprise it seemed to be coming directly out of the ceiling. The arm was withdrawn back into the stone, as if it was an aquatic predator submerging after an attack. And right before it disappeared completely, a tear in the rock formed next to it, cracking far and stretching out, forming a small cave.
From a safe distance, Niaou’li watched as the captive Khord was placed within this cave, after which it closed once more like a mouth swallowing a berry. The hand sank into the ceiling, and was gone from sight.

Meanwhile, her companions had made their way across the black lake and were now standing at the bottom of the great Stinkhorn. Big washes of black goo landed around them, splattering the rocks beneath their feet. Before them, the white stem of the mushroom gleamed wet and pearly white. It smelled of decay, of promises unfulfilled and dreams smothered with a thick layer of betrayal. Far above them, the remaining bodies of two children and two adults hung still and untouchable.

They had managed to cross the black pool, but what now?

I made a grid for the museumroom. This is how it is right now, with clouds of dust still hanging in the area. Only one round has passed since the attack, and I think I should add that when the creatures struck it was fast: a hit and run.

The museum is located against the outer rim of the Warrens of Rvisthorn. There is nothing behind the wall where the creaures came from, besides rock and unknown territory.

This is not anything that any of you have ever seen before. Heard of maybe... It's not a spider, I can tell you that.

Mobility is not too difficult, but you cannot move more than half speed the first round, or until you break free from the crowd moving the other direction.

Topic: New Spores of Itanlok ~ 2 ~ A Short Adventure in Audalis
Subject: update... and there you have it

After the first jaw dropping and eye popping had subsided, people started to move again. It was as if a rippled cone of silence had made its way through the crowd, and now words were following it, trying to catch up. And word travelled fast.
Soon the Khords who were in the same room as the Irondock sapphire felt the crowd behind them pushing forward, in an attempt to get a glimpse of the marvellous thing that had been exposed and made such a impression on their kinsmen.

Ikamor stared at the crowd, and smiled. It was a warm smile, for he knew that this find would sound the rejuvenation of his museum. But he didn’t have long to bask in thoughts of better days, for people were all of a sudden very eager to meet him. He greeted every one of them with patience, though inside he was burning up with anticipation to put all the entry fees to new causes. He smiled politely, doing his best not to grin, but joy radiated from him no matter how hard he tried to remain calm.

“Yes sir, thank you very much for the compliments. Send my regards to the Regent.” He bowed to one of the Stadtholders of the Warrens of Rvisthorn, who had just told him they would be adding the museum to the many columns with directional arrows.
“Oh, you are too kind, madam.”
A quick response to the first wife of Gumbarg Masterfist, one of the most prominent distributors of the Shard Tunnels.
“Why, that is a very tasty brew! You have my gratitude.”
Ikamor smiled and passed a small keg of Direbark Oakbeer (which was a very exclusive and elite brand) behind him on the floor.
“No, I’m sorry, but the Irondock Sapphire is not for sale.” He blushed under his grey beard, and added: “No, not even for that amount of gold.”
He glanced with eyes wide to the man who now walked away from him, a collector of special gems, blinked hard a few times and turned his attention to the next person in line. It was a Khord looking for work.
The thought arose in his mind that he needed to be careful who to hire, now the word was out. Thieves and other scum would be lining up to apply for a ‘job’. Still, this Khord in front of him, with his strange beard, appeared to have experience, and with that kind of appearance, one couldn’t disappear to easily, now could he?
“Alright, Bohen. I’ll tell you what. Since you’re the first to apply for a job, I’m going to give you a break. Kharox knows I need the hands. Once you’ve found yourself some lodging, contact Soregan Amberfold, captain of the guard. He’s handling the security, since I don’t know anything about that kind of business.”
He paused and added with a smile: “I’ll be seeing you around then.”

Ikamor took a short moment to stare at the Sapphire by his side. The blue gem reflected the light beautifully, and with the movement in the crowd mirrored on its surface it was as if it was alive, and staring back at him.

He looked up to the next person who wanted his attention, ready for smiling and politeness. But he stopped in mid-glance, and his expression changed to sudden wonder.
“Oh, hello.” he said to the Khordaldrum woman before him, who was wearing a suit of armour which, he noted, was engraved with runes of knowledge and power. His eyes travelled to her face, and he added from under furry brows: “I must say that this is the first time I have the pleasure of seeing a female Runemaster, if my guess is right.”
He smiled. “You people are basically the only customers I had back when I didn’t find this beauty.” He patted the gem lovingly. “So I should ask you, did you come here to marvel at it, or is there anything else…”

He would never finish his sentence. The wall behind him suddenly gave way in a burst of dust and sandy clouds. A sound of breaking wood splintered through the room, and one of the wooden boards that made up the wall was flung into the crowd, a painting of a warzone from back in the day still nailed to it. Rocks and pebbles flew overhead and dirt obscured vision to only a few feet. Even the bright sapphire was doused instantly.
There was a clicking sounds, as if somebody was rapping their nails on a glass surface, but louder. People screamed, and tried to flee. Guards turned, just in time to see two enormous mandibles protruding from the clouds, which grabbed Ikamor and started pulling him back into whatever hole they came from.
More mandibles came out of the clouds, and snatched the nearest Khords up, and dragged them away. At least five Khords had been attacked so far, including one of the guards.

Then they saw what was intruding upon what should’ve been a festive exhibition. A brown insect head with huge mandible and vicious black eyes could vaguely be seen diving at the gem. Its very head was the size of a Khordaldrum child, and it stood at least as tall as any of the guests gathered in the room. It took the gem in its hold, and disappeared from sight once more.

Panic grabbed hold of most of the Khords in the room, and chaos spread its wings and bellowed a single thought into their heads: getting out.

(OOC: I’m going to stop here. Surprise round is over, but vision is extremely limited, and you can only see up to 5 feet in front of you. If I have time, I’ll draw a map, but I can’t promise anything. So far, you are all standing in a great cloud of dust, but all within 30 feet of any wall. Any questions or discussions: The Q/A is the place to be!)

Very nice introduction.

I can totally work with what I have so far! Great writing everyone.
I'm waiting on Loki and Usso though. But, the other group is keeping me waiting as well. Must be the busy period.

It would be good if we could get in the missing posts before the end of the week. My guess is that the holidays will either take people away from the inn, or give them so much spare time that they will be on 24/7.
Myself, I will be staying in Rome starting december 18th. Next update should be in this week. Otherwise I'll probably be able to squeeze in one more update until the second weekend in January. So, if today I can't update the game, then hopefully I will sometime soon.

I don't know what to expect now, people. I'm used to posting weekly, on Saturday. Now I'm not very available this weekend, so my update for group one is scheduled for Sunday. Seeing how Usso and Vanadia haven't posted yet, there isn't much to update for this group yet.

I will wait. But once we're further into the game, I cannot handle irregularity in posting anymore, since this might mean you slow down the other group as well. I have a responsibility as a DM, you guys have a whole week to post. That should be enough time, right?

I forgot to mention that I really enjoyed Deucalion's post as well. Great writing so far!!

CLASS FEATURES
--Favored Enemy (Ex)--
+2 bonus on Bluff, Listen, Sense Motive, Spot, and Survival checks vs creatures of chosen type. +2 bonus on weapon damage rolls against such creatures.

At 5th level and every five levels thereafter, the ranger may select an additional favored enemy. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by 2.

If the ranger chooses humanoids or outsiders as a favored enemy, he must also choose an associated subtype. If a specific creature falls into more than one category of favored enemy, the ranger’s bonuses do not stack; he simply uses whichever bonus is higher.

--Track--
A ranger gains Track as a bonus feat.

--Wild Empathy (Ex)--
Can use Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of an animal. Roll 1d20 and add ranger level and Charisma modifier to determine the wild empathy check result. Typical domestic animals have a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be able to study each other, which means that they must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.

The ranger can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a -4 penalty on the check.

--Combat Style (Ex)--
Bonus Feat: Rapid Shot, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat.

The benefits of the ranger’s chosen style apply only when he wears light or no armor. He loses all benefits of his combat style when wearing medium or heavy armor.

--Endurance--
A ranger gains Endurance as a bonus feat at 3rd level.

--Distracting Attack(Ex)--
Beginning at 4th level, whenever you hit an enemy with a weapon attack (whether melee or ranged), that enemy is considered flanked by you for the purpose of adjudicating your allies' attacks. For example, if your rogue ally attacked that enemy, not only would she gain a +2 bonus on her melee attack roll but she could also add her sneak attack damage to a successful melee attack.

This flanked condition lasts until either the enemy is attacked by one of your allies or until the start of your next turn, whichever comes first. This is an extraordinary ability.

This ability has no effect on creatures that can't be flanked.

--Spells--
Beginning at 4th level, a ranger gains the ability to cast a small number of divine spells, which are drawn from the ranger spell list. A ranger must choose and prepare his spells in advance (see below).

Through 3rd level, a ranger has no caster level. At 4th level and higher, his caster level is one-half his ranger level.

--Improved Combat Style (Ex)--
Bonus feat: Manyshot, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat.

As before, the benefits of the ranger’s chosen style apply only when he wears light or no armor. He loses all benefits of his combat style when wearing medium or heavy armor.

--Woodland Stride (Ex)--
Starting at 7th level, a ranger may move through any sort of undergrowth (such as natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain) at his normal speed and without taking damage or suffering any other impairment.

However, thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that are enchanted or magically manipulated to impede motion still affect him.

--Swift Tracker (Ex)--
Beginning at 8th level, a ranger can move at his normal speed while following tracks without taking the normal -5 penalty. He takes only a -10 penalty (instead of the normal -20) when moving at up to twice normal speed while tracking.
