Subject: Thanks for the Welcome

Thank You Very Much and I am looking forward to returning to the Inn with a brand new Hammer twisted adventure!

My old friend Nomad from D2 has expressed interest so I sent him a synopsis of the characters available to play!

Still have some tweaking to do before I start getting everything typed up for the adventure!

My Fellow Inmates

The past few weeks I have been stopping by the Inn to check up on old friends.

My personal laptop is out of commission and must be replaced before I go to Ghana before Thanksgiving to teach in a Bible School there. I will be returning to the States after Christmas.

I have written several pages of notes to launch another campaign using the Castles & Crusades Seige Engine, but this time I have 8 pre-created characters and their deities that should provide plenty of interesting role play and story telling in a rules based adventure.

Once I have my new laptop and if I have enough time I am considering posting the Recruitment along with the Introduction to the adventure before I leave.

I will be looking for 7 other Players interested in participating as I will be playing one of the characters in addition to running the adventure as the Castle Keeper.

If anyone is interested then feel free to send me a PM Message and I will alert you when I am about to launch the Recruiting as the PC Characters will be chosen on a First Come, First Served basis.

The Adventure I am working on should prove to be quite entertaining to both Players and Lurkers who enjoy reading the exploits of various adventurers here at the Inn.

My Apologies to those of my gaming friends for disappearing from the Inn these past weeks.

I am in good health, but have been beset by some circumstances in my personal life that have forced me to focus on other things and thus drop my game participation here at the Inn and elsewhere.

There is no foreseeable timetable as to when I will be able to return to the Inn, so this belated apology for my sudden absence will have to suffice.

Glad to report that I am in good health, but some circumstances that I have had to deal with in my personal life has caused my absence from the Inn.

Have no idea when I will be able to return and therefore I must regrettably abandon this adventure.

My Apologies to Almerin and my fellow gamers!

Among the Mushrooms

Loco FungiHammer seemed to be in Mushroom Heaven!

He was "at home among friends" and was enjoying the company of the varied colors, sizes and shapes of his "friends" in this Forest of Mushrooms!

To the casual onlooker, Loco was looking a bit detached and obliviously melding into his surroundings!

However, the Cleric was studying the possible disturbances that may have left traces upon the ground or against the stems of his "friends" that could lead Loco and the new band of adventurers along the path of possible vengeance!

Quite a colorful path it may possibly be thought the Cleric to himself as he searched ever casually!

Loco was not quite aware of how long it took to absorb the echos radiating between his eardrums, but the colorfully vibrating sounds that passed in cascading waves were enough to draw him to the source of the sounds as a moth is drawn to a flame!

"I say we take the middle one."

Loco was not quite sure what the middle one could be as he was seeing a multitude of things both real and imagined ... not to mention the scenes haunting the corridors of his mind from his last encounter while rescuing missing children.

To Niaou’li that seemed like some random choice though ... She had not been able to find any leads like drops of blood or footprints around the Spores, but maybe one of the others was capable of finding any tracks this time?

“Somebody should look for some traces of the children before we make our decision” she suggested.

How hauntingly familiar were those words as though a tidal wave of colorized emotions seemingly crashed upon the consciousness of Loco Fungihammer unbidden ... yet apprehensively expected from the haunting visions of his past.

Suddenly the Khord Cleric blurted out a response to no one in particular:

"We Have a Destiny to Fulfill ... With the Strength and Fortitude to Rescue ... or Revenge!

Loco did not wait for a response ... for the Cleric was surfing the waves of his very own vocalized sounds ... enjoying the kaleidoscopic ride!

Loco seems to be wandering about aimlessly, but the Cleric is absorbing the sights and sounds of his companions, while searching for any telltale signs of disturbances that will provide a clue for a plan of action!

He seems to be on the outside looking in ... and at other times ... on the inside looking out ... maintaining a position towards the back of the group as each ponders which path to pursue!

Wedding Party
Second Day
The Spores of Itanlok
Mushroom Forest
Warrens of Gunthras

The mind of Loco Fungihammer would occasionally snap back into the familiar reality of all Khords who went about their daily routines of consuming ale and doing their duties.

For a few moments anyway, the Purple Haze Mind Maze existence that Loco Fungihammer usually drifted through and dwelt in for weeks at a time, allowed the Khord Cleric to focus upon the reality of what was happening in this present Khord reality.

"I Swore an Oath of Vengeance to This Grieving Mother!"

Loco FungiHammer had drained the last contents of the celebratory wedding mug and had made his way deliberately, yet almost secretly, to the one named Thagovan.

In all the confusion and commotion, the Cleric was having visionary flashbacks as to the rhyme and reason that had brought him out of seclusion from the Caves of Madness, to face an unknown destiny that beckoned to him from afar.

He was a Khord driven by the faint, yet distant painful memories of a childhood loss that had pushed him onto a path of solitude; fraught with the ironies of avenging those on the brink of sadness, grief and loss that had driven Loco to the comforting embrace of the Mushrooms!

Loco could barely remember her, images lost in the swirling kaleidoscope of mushroomed memories!

But the Cleric understood the pain and silent inward suffering a lifetime would hold for anyone subjected to the loss he had undergone; the countless lifetimes of imaginings tearing and searing the emotions and memories, the hopes and dreams, instilling the fears of madness untamed and relentless!

This was why Loco had accepted the invitation to attend the wedding! A chance to witness the joys of what might have been!

But the Dark Nightmare intruded upon him in this reality as well as within any other!

Loco stared at Thagovan and perceived a soul who would go to any length to right a wrong!

That was good enough for the Cleric to accept the notion that he would not be alone on this journey!

There were others who had stepped forward to answer the call to go locate the missing children and Locofungihammer gave a cautious, but warm acknowledging nod to each of them.

"I Would Seek These Lost Children Alone If No Other Would Offer Their Lives! For Our Very Lives May Be At Stake In This Matter!"

Wedding Party
Second Day
The Spores of Itanlok
Mushroom Forest
Warrens of Gunthras

Loco FungiHammer was enjoying the wedding party mainly because the celebrants chose to give him plenty of space, allowing the Cleric to amuse himself by focusing upon the color trails and tracers emanating from those passing nearby or from waving his own hand in various patterns!

The people that regarded Loco Fungihammer could not tell if he was having a good time, or if he was having a time at all. He seemed entertained, but his reactions weren’t always aimed at something that seemed to be going on at the wedding. Still, they dared not question him or laugh behind his back, out of respect for the braids in his beard. He had earned them, and for that they left him to himself.

Something kept nagging at the back of Loco's mind, but the Cleric had eaten enough of his special mushrooms and was drinking just enough combinations of Dwarven Ales to relegate those thoughts deep within the shadows of his murkiest memories!

He walked the party as if he was making his way through a maze of people, taking turns abruptly and without determination.

“Make room for the mushrooms!” He toasted. It was a custom that seemed appropriate, though to which occasion was another matter.

But, apparently, he had been heard. A tug on his sleeve and a turn of his head alerted him to the fact that somebody was trying to get his attention.

It was an old miner, black coal seeped into the pores so deeply it had eternally stained him. The man was so drunk he could barely walk straight, and stared at Loco with eyes that twirled without finding a focal point.

“Hey there … bahrrrrrrrotherrrr … ya talkin’ bout shroomies? Ye got some shroomies to share with an old mining buddy? Huh, do ya, huh? Whoooo!”

Not every mushroom enhanced experience is a pleasant one to the eyes or ears ... especially not to the nose!

There was a peculiar taint of fragrances emanating from the pores of the coal-blackened skin of the old miner, but Loco had experienced much worse in his mushrooming dazes!

Fumbling around in one of the hidden folds of his garments, the cleric found an old stale mushroom that seemed to have the miner's name on it, or at least the condition of his mind.

"There You Go Old Timer! Enjoy!"

A few moments later they all became aware of a silence that was spreading through the tavern.

Khords were trying to glance over each other’s heads to get a glimpse of what was going on.

Then the attention was caught by a very old Khordaldrum male, who was climbing a table with the help of his cane and four strong, sweating and fumbling cousins.

When he finally found a stable spot he swung his cane overhead in a propelling motion. This raised cheers from everywhere across the room. Somebody yelled in a moment of silence: “Go for it, you old Mugtwister. You’ve still got it!” to which mostly everybody laughed.

Grandfather Mugtwister was one of the oldest Khords that still lived in the Orehand-clan, but known for his good temper and joy in life. He addressed the bride and groom:

“My dearest younglings; Kharox be blessed, how young you both are. When I was as young as you, I was twice your age!”

He coughed.

“Well, Kret and Bef, I rejoice in the joining of the Orehand and the Shieldmaster clan, and believe that it could not have happened through a better couple. I’ve had no say in it, of course, an old pebble like me isn’t asked for an opinion anymore. But if I had been asked I would never have guessed the two of you fitted so well together. But at least now I can say that I knew

Bef-Orehand… you get it? Haha.”

He wheezed, coughed, and continued.

“And Kretar…”

He stopped on the spot. For a moment people were afraid he would grab his heart and drop dead on the table, but instead he raised an arm and pointed.

“Good Gods of the Forge.”

They followed his gaze. It was directed at the stairway, where a lone child stood, hair sticky and clinging to a face red with blood. The child shivered, cloths torn. His arms showed signs of acidic burns and bruises. Eyes rolled back in the kid's head before it could do another step, and it fell down onto the hay-covered ground.

“Govarund!” yelled a female voice, and the child’s mother pushed herself through the crowd to grab her first born. She looked at the crowd, but in her panic saw no one in particular.

“Somebody help him. Somebody do something!”

Fortunately, through his mushroom muddled mind, one Loco Fungihammer realized that he was still indeed a "somebody".

Loco FungiHammer set his mug of ale aside and squinted curiously through the colored haze and kaleidoscope of variou-hued trails to determine if any other "somebody" would indeed make his or her way through the crowd.

Surely there was someone in the crowd well able to tend to the child's wounds?

Someone who had the suitable bedside manner to also allay any fears that the mother would express for the full recovery of her child?

There must be someone? Anyone?

But there seemed to be no one in particular who would step forth from the ale-besotted crowd to help either the mother, or her mysteriously ailing child.

Loco began fumbling in his pouch for the last handful of some mysterious moss of a purple hue that he had found long ago in his travels.

He was getting more uncomfortable by the minute as he soon realized that there seemed to be no one who would come to the child's aid.

And that there certainly seemed to be No Healer in the House!

The nagging visions began creeping into his awareness from their places of exile in the deep recesses of his mind until Loco FungiHammer dare be silent no longer!

"Barkeep! Send Someone to Me with a Mug of Your Best Batch of 'Blue Cheer'! I Will Tend to the Child If No One Else Will Do So!"

Loco FungiHammer had eased his way along a pathway between the curious Khords and observed the situation, already drawing serious conclusions that he dare not mention, lest the celebration turn into a panic zone!

Although he had the knack for healing, Loco was almost totally bereft of that certain aura that drew the public in a favorable way, so he chose to cautiously approach the mother, bowing as graciously as his lack of sociable abilities would allow!

A servant girl brought the mug of Blue Cheer to the Cleric and Loco began soaking his last handful of the purple-hued mysterious moss in the tranquil liquid, before gently applying the mixture to the injured child, as the Khord audience reacted among themselves in various ways!

"These are nasty wounds," whispered Loco to the mother as gently and reassuringly as he could muster in the swirling myriad of emotions that were amplified by the particular mushrooms he had been munching earlier in the day!

"This combination of Moss and Ale should reverse the effects of these nasty wounds in due time! Just see to it that your boy gets plenty of rest after I minister to his wounds!"

Loco refused to comment as to whether or not he knew the source of these particular wounds.

He just methodically dabbed the burns and cuts with the compound of the Moss and Ale, soaking the Moss in the mug of Ale periodically until every last drop of the Ale was soaked into the Moss.

When he was finished, Loco spread the Moss into a makeshift compress on the child's forehead to draw any fever from his body.

Then he stepped closer to the mother and bowed to her with every measure of respect that the Cleric could possibly muster under the circumstances as he uttered a vow for all Khords to hear:

"I Give You My Solemn Word as Loco FungiHammer!" exclaimed the Cleric as he stroked each of his braids, then held them in front of the mother's eyes for emphasis; first the Emerald braid, then the Sapphire braid and then the Ruby braid.

"Whoever ... or ... Whatever ... is Responsible for this Travesty ... Will Answer to Loco FungiHammer ... This I Swear to You!"

Then the Cleric kissed the palm of his right hand and planted it firmly upon the mother's forehead, before bowing once more and returning to the child.

He repeated this ritual, first kissing and placing the palm of his right hand upon the child's forehead, then removing it before the child could respond either positively or negatively!

Loco then wandered over to the nearest mug of freshly poured ale, took a big gulp, then lifted it high proclaiming:

"To the Groom ... and the ... Mushroom!"

Dirty's Roadhouse
Twilight
Early Spring
Year One

Amiri hastily retreated towards the gate for a better position to fire an arrow from her composite longbow.

She intended to take aim at Skulgnar the Savage, but the sanctuary spell from the shaman prohibited her [Charisma attribute] from following through on her predetermined course of action; instead she instinctively fired a single arrow at the orc that had charged her.

Upon impact the targeted orc immediately fell unconscious due to loss of blood from a gaping wound in its left shoulder, unable to attack either Amiri or Oliander.

Oliander reacted with all the grace of a battle-trained ballet artist as the blade of his longsword severed the head of the orc that lay at his feet, while his shortsword sliced a minor gash in the neck of the unconscious orc that Amiri had struck with her single arrow.

He then spun himself into a better battle-ballet position to eliminate the threat of any orc foolish enough to be in range of his thirsty blades!

Nordrog the Gnome was almost startled by the action of Adaf Adshead unexpectedly taking a position directly behind the Cleric as he unleashed the power of the Shooting Star from his platinum ring.

Seemingly the spectacle of the Shooting Star blazing in the distance upon the unfortunate orcs accentuated the reaction of Nordrog as he drove his light mace downward upon the skull of the unconscious orc at his feet, but Nordrog only succeeded in opening a minor gash in the thick skull of the enemy that lay bleeding before him.

Nordrog steadied himself and prepared to unleash another blow against the vile creature that had dared to attack him.

Ma'ia quickly assessed the grave situation that threatened her and her companions in arms.

With elven grace and agility Ma'ia bent aside avoiding the first orcs blow. Still she could feel the rush of air as the axe hissed past her. With eyes narrowed the druid lifted a hand to point in the direction of the onrushing orcs.

Time seemed to slow itself as she opened herself to the power of the land letting its primal rhythms flow through her. She began to chant softly in the ancient language of plant and tree. Her chanting called to the plants before her, both dormant and alive, beckoning them to dance and ensnare the rushing orcs in their embrace. As the last words of her spell left her lips Ma'ia could already see the underbrush beginning to writhe.

Although the area surrounding Dirty's Roadhouse served as a pasture for any extra horses being stabled inside the roadhouse, there were enough seedlings scattered throughout the field and meadow for the Entanglement spell to do its work as the Druid commanded.

In mere moments, strands of clinging vines began to snake themselves around the ankles of the standing orcs, as well as the bodies of the fallen orcs, beginning with the second row of orcs that had charged the gate, including the orcs that had fired their cross bows.

Skulgnar the Savage although shielded from most ordinary attacks, was unable to prevent the seedlings from growing and attempting to ensnare the splotchy shaman as well, for the Sanctuary spell was unable to protect the shaman orc from the effects of the Druid spell.

Loren was indeed blessed with an uncanny ability as an archer by her elven deity Fraxinus the Star Archer.

Hers was no ordinary attack as two arrows shot straight and true, slicing each arm of Skulgnar the Savage, who cursed by his gods at the ineffective protection that his Sanctuary spell afforded him, as he watched his minions fail to gain the upper hand against their foes!

CASTLE KEEPER NOTE: I will be posting the T1R2 post later today or tonight as I have some configuring to do, plus I have to post for my character in a game run by Almerin.

All the actions of the sentries, fighters, Adaf Adshead and the 5 adventurers will be included in the post, plus the reactions of the orcs since the Initiative will be in favor of all the defenders of the roadhouse before the orcs are able to respond to the above actions!

Need to get some sleep!

At the moment the 10 onrushing orcs are still alive with some unconscious.

They need to be killed and beheaded for the party to get the bounty for Fresh Orc Heads and thus some more Experience Points to divvy up.

6 of the cross bow wielding orcs are still not hit by any attacks and the Shaman is surrounded by a Sanctuary spell.

7 of the cross bow orcs are lying dead and another is losing blood and will be dead in 3 more rounds.

[Wrote that 8 were dead and have not edited to correct that minor mistake]

That is what I remember off the top of my head as I am yawning and need to get some sleep!

EDIT Upon Further Review there are 8 dead orcs as what I originally wrote was Not a Mistake!

I may have to wait until Monday to finish posting the T1-R1 and T1R2 results.

From what I can gather, both the Bard and the Fighter are retreating to fire arrows at Skulgnar the Shaman.

He has encased himself in a Sanctuary spell, so anyone attacking the Shaman will have to pass a Charisma Saving Throw to be able to attack the Shaman orc.

If you fail the Charisma saving throw, you are allowed to pick another target.

That target will be one of the remaining 6 orcs armed with cross bows, since you decided to fire at the Shaman who is now behind all of his remaining troops.

REMEMBER: that there is a bounty for every Fresh Orc Head that you collect and that translates into Experience Points to be divided among the party!

Oliander will be attacking with his 2 blades and hopefully beheading some orcs!

Nordrog the Gnome will be attacking with his light mace and will have his +1 blessed dagger [from his deity] at the ready to behead some Fresh Orc Heads!

Ma'ia is loosing a spell of Entanglement and I will need to know what she is doing for her next action?

Dirty's Roadhouse
Twilight
Early Spring
Year One

The two Barbarian sentries had quickly drawn two more arrows in the space of time that it took Skulgnar the Savage to cast a Sanctuary spell about himself.

The first sentry was still on his feet in spite of the amount of damage that had been inflicted upon his body by the light cross bow bolts that had ripped his flesh and spilt his blood.

He took a surprisingly steady aim and his first arrow imbedded into the neck of the orc facing Nordrog the Gnome. The orc lurched forward and fell unconscious at the feet of the cleric.

His second arrow found its target by grazing the left arm of the orc facing Amiri, a slight spurt of blood marking the arrow's passing.

The second sentry followed suit by felling the orc that stood behind its stricken comrade (10 feet in front of Oliander), bleeding profusely from a wound to its left shoulder.

His second arrow found its target in the right leg of the orc 10 feet in front of Amiri, causing the orc to lapse into unconsiousness upon impact.

The 5 Fighters came to the aid of the adventurers by each selecting an as yet unharmed orc with his single arrow.

The orc that had stood facing Loren fell unconscious with a shaft sticking in his chest, before it could attack Ma'ia the Druid, but the orc directly behind him was only grazed across the right arm for a minor loss of blood.

Minor arrow wounds were also suffered by the two orcs in front of Ma'ia as their left and right legs were grazed respectively.

The orc standing 10 feet in front of Nordrog the Gnome was brought to the brink of unconsciousness as the last arrow from the Fighters imbedded in its chest.

Adaf Adshead seemingly blew with an air of indifference upon the magic ring that he had placed upon his right hand.

Polishing it against his left arm as he strode to a position behind Nordrog the Gnome, he then took careful aim and dispatched a Shooting Star from the platinum magical weapon Ring of Shooting Stars that impacted the orc that stood with its cross bow 10 feet in front of the Red Splotched Shaman, Skulgnar the Savage.

The orc was instantly killed, while the resulting star fire spreading from the initial impact incinerated seven more orcs that would never again wield a cross bow against anyone or anything ever again in this life.

Adaf Adshead was quickly tiring of this unexpected nuisance that had dared to plunder his wagons. His action had quickly eliminated one third of the orcs.

Now he would see what the adventurers would do to help eliminate this remaining threat, so they could all retire to the roadhouse for a much anticipated good night's sleep after journeying by wagon these past twelve weeks!
