Manuhol marched silently back towards the group as though he were Ixion's prisoner. There was no reason to impart information to this ambitious warrior, especially after the interruption had provided the kobolds a greater opportunity to prepare themselves against unwanted persons.

"Manuhol, this is Tellanth, Snowlily, Torigad, T'puuli, and Ixion."

"Hello," "hi," "well met," and such greetings are all passed around to everyone's satisfaction.

Having exposed the dangerous trap and revealing the whereabouts of the dragonkin eavesdroppers hidden throughout the blackberry patch, Manuhol the Monk awaited the best possible opportunity to pursue his former plan of action, while studying his new allies and their responses.

"Well, standing around in the rain is great fun and all, but there are some stinking dragonkin that need eviscerating and a farmer that'll probably even pay us to do it. You can all stand here and watch each other die of pneumonia, but I'm going to gut some kobolds. Anyone want to come with me?"

"How Predictable!"exhaled Manuhol in an almost imperceptible whisper as he pretended to ready himself for another long journey back the way that he had come.

As each of the companions made their decisions on a course of action, Manuhol silently began walking in a diagonal direction [between the path back to the townspeople and the area to the left of the path where the dragonkind were lurking] to distance himself from both groups of adventurers ... which looked from a distance that the Mercenary Monk had no intention of being further involved with either of the two groups that had split up.

More importantly, his gait and manner as he walked further and further away from the scene of discussion seemingly sent a message to any distant onlookers that the Monk had decided to have no further involvement with any of the proceedings ... especially with pursuing the kobolds!

However, when the Mercenary Monk had put sufficient distance between himself and the triangle of groups, Manuhol silently and swiftly utilized all of his capabilities to place himself to the furthest point to the left of the path where he could position himself to quietly observe any further proceedings ... while keeping an eye on his alliance of companions in case anyone would need assistance if the dragonkind sprung another trap ... or chose to brazenly attack the adventurers!

Now the ball is in Deuc's possession ... with the lives of both of our characters hanging in the balance!

"Are you following the kobolds, or pursuing their pursuers? Pray, move slowly, but answer quickly..." To accentuate the potentially lethal situation they were in, Ixion shifted his weight slightly, causing the rapier's point to slide up the bald man's shoulder and rest lightly against the base of his neck. "...and I recommend you choose your words carefully, sir."

Manuhol the Monk kept looking at the ground straight ahead, seemingly unperturbed by the sudden interruption from the hasty adventurer, unfliching as his years of discipline in the dojo had long ago enabled him to ignore the point of such a weapon as this mere rapier resting against the base of his neck, that most any onlooker would agree was seemingly threatening his health and well being.

"I strongly suggest that you make no sudden moves to alert those who are watching us!" Manuhol spoke quietly, but with an unnerving calmness about him, especially for someone with the point of a rapier held at the base of his neck.

"Does it not seem strange to you that the birds are strangely silent? Neither are there the usual sounds of any incessant chirping from the draconic cicadas that inhabit these lands!"

Manuhol the Monk continues to study the terrain directly in front of him without moving a muscle.

"Something unseen is out there watching us! Do not alert them by any sudden or uncharacteristic movement, especially since you would appear to them to be holding the advantage over me at the moment."

"But while you are trying to decide exactly what to do in this situation ... you might want to ponder upon this bit of phenomenon that I have been so intently studying these past moments!"

"Have you failed to notice the water on the ground that is flowing to the middle of the trail? Yet curiously ... any trace of a pool of water fails to form anywhere along the trail ... so what would you make of that peculiar circumstance ... sir?"

"It would seem to me ... that something is NOT quite right ... sir!

Subject: Pirate Problems

There were "Pirates!" aboard, and they were doing a decent job of slaughtering the crew. It was a gory, dismal sight that would haunt any person for many days to come.

BrewStirr Hammer was not totally unprepared for the gory sight that greeted his fiery red eyes. He had heard many tales of oppression and war during his years of preparation as a Wizard's apprentice as a member of Clan Hammer in the Blister Mountains, but to witness such actions up close and personal gave him no time for reflective pause ... were he to see the light of another day.

These past weeks BrewStirr Hammer had been careful not to reveal the nature of his true abilities as a Wizard/Evoker, but now was not the time, nor the place, to continue his charade as merely a ship's cook and dishwasher!

Without waiting to see what his other three companions would choose to do, BrewStirr Hammer set his sights on the largest and fiercest pirate ... unleashing a Magic Missile spell to help turn the tide of the unexpected attack ... hoping that his companions would do their part to repel the invaders ... and together save one another's skin!

"Moradin ... Protect Me!"

Because BrewStirr Hammer does not have his Spear with him, he looks around for a weapon or somewhere to gain a better vantage point to help battle the pirates. He also looks for any 5lb objects that he may use his Mage Hand spell on to use as a weapon. He also looks to see if the way is clear to climb up towards the crows nest to gain a better vantage point to defend himself or launch another attack against the invaders!

Topic: Audalis: Tides of War Q/A
Subject: This was ...

..... a very tough choice!

I looked every post over about 5 times or so and decided that it would be easier just not to give a CD award if I could not give out multiple CD awards!

Finally I decided to award the CD to Ilya amakiir on the basis that every character seemed to enter this adventure with a definite motivation towards agressively getting involved as adventurers.

My thought is that it took a tad more creativity to get the one Passive Character, namely Ilya amakiir, involved with the party.

His establishing a rapport with Bugsy and building around that rapport to spark him to intervene and strike in behalf of Bugsy took a bit more creative license to pull it off ... although an argument could be raised that taking liberties of using Bugsy in dialogue and storyline as an NPC may have been encroaching on Kaelyn's territory?

[Still remembering Kaelyn's reaction to my original Ghost post when we first started playing!]

Would that I had been able to grant 4 or 5 CD awards!

So I had to analyze each character introduction and then observed how they dealt with the sudden impact of the intruders ... which is why I chose Ilya amakiir to receive a CD award at this present time!

Topic: The Return of the Prodigal Son
Subject: A Matter of Time

One thing a servant of Khoronus soon learns is that Time is of the Essence ... no matter what time of day or night it may be ... whether convenient ... or inconvenient ... and when that servant is a Cleric of Khoronus ... then said Cleric automatically knows to Go with the Flow ... wherever the Shifting Sands of Time may Glow.

That Glow awoke Panon Panaw well before sunrise and the Cleric silently, but swiftly gathered his belongings and quietly exited the room so as not to disturb the deeply slumbering Flame Finger.

Panon was amused by the Flame Finger's dual attraction and aversion to Elves. Afterall, being a Half Elf and a servant of Khoronus gave Panon quite a different perspective on things, situations and various races ... not to mention classes of adventurers.

"You must learn to trust the Elven kind young Ulfgar," whispered Panon as he slowly closed the door and made his way downstairs, "if you ever hope to unravel the mystery of your long lost heritage."

Panon drank a hot mug of Elven Tea and feasted upon some herbs and berries that Needlemire brought with the breakfast cakes as was his custom when the Cleric of Khoronus graced Needlemire's Nest with his presence.

Then Panon excused himself and exited through the kitchen where a bag of fresh meat bones was laid in its usual place near the back door. Panon picked up the bag and made his way to a special corral where Surok, his magnificent golden palomino stallion War Horse waited patiently with his chestnut stallion Riding Horse-Pack Horse named Abaga.

Both had been well tended by the stable boy Nutmeg and were ready to embark on another journey ... as were WagTang and Talbog ... his ferocious male War Dog ... and his equally ferocious male Hunting Cat Jaguar.

WagTang stood 3ft high at the shoulder and 6ft from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail in a muscular frame weighing 120lbs. He snapped the first of the fresh meat bones in his powerful canine jaws ... his blazing blue eyes showing affection and gratitude for the treat ... this hybrid gray wolf who served as both a scout and an attack force in service to Panon Panaw and Khoronus through his master the Cleric.

Talbog and WagTang were the greatest of friends. The Jaguar also stood 3ft high at the shoulder, but from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail measured 8ft in length, weighing 300lbs on an equally muscular frame. He too served as a scout and attack force in tandem with WagTang and often deferred the first choice of fresh meat bone treats to WagTang ... as a self appointed guardian over the War Dog.

The Jaguar's reddish-brown fur was covered with exotic rosette patterns with curious spot markings of various shapes and design throughout his body, yet his underbelly was a glorious white as if Khoronus had painted a timeless masterpiece on the underbelly of the Great Cat. His yellow eyes shone brightly, yet another gift seemingly from Khoronus to depict the timeless intensity of the solar rays that penetrate its prey.

While his War Dog and Hunting Cat dined on the feast of fresh meat bones, Panon Panaw spent the next hour in consecrating prayer for Khoronus to bless and guide him and his adventure party companions during this time of travel in search of the cause of the missing unfortunates.

"Come my children ... for it is Time to liberate the lost souls ... by following a hidden trail into the mountains ... and beyond ... for there is more to this mystery than a number of missing street minions!"

Panon Panaw and his children arrive where the party of adventurers are gathering ... just in Time as per Khoronus would deem it so to be ... as Ulfgar approaches Ash ... so the Cleric looks on in amusement off to the Right Flank of the gathered group ... motioning to Talbog and WagTang to wait patiently for the others to decide on a course of action ...

"All in Good Time!"
