My Post has Gamard going to see Adriana about the bandages, healing herbs and whatever else (regarding the Rokash) she may have to offer!

Not sure how much Coin he has left, so if anyone else wants to chip in for bandages, healing herbs etc then please speak up!

Thank You

I have posted and the actions of Gamard the Grim should be well understood as far as what he is up to!

My schedule for the rest of the weekend will probably not allow me to respond to any other posts in response to mine, so my next post will probably be sometime after Red Sector A posts an Update!

Topic: Trail of the Rokash
Subject: Dawn of a New Day

After silently finishing his final plate of Bar Stool Blues, then thoughtfully draining the remainder of his Tankard full of Bitter Root Beer, the Knight of Holy Anger nodded to the Bar Tender, before retiring to his room upstairs, without saying another word to anyone.

He had made it a point not to argue with the young lady who had confronted him earlier. There was no place for strife in his heart with anyone, especially anyone who had volunteered to rescue Tara. Their own lives depended upon working together, without any animosity towards anyone!

Once inside his room, he began sorting through his belongings, taking inventory a second and a third time, all the while praying to his deity Inko-mengu (Sky-light) and searching his own soul. The words of the young woman played over and over in his mind, as he prayed to maintain a proper attitude in the light of her accusations and observations.

Gamard the Grim was not particularly interested in leading this group of adventurers, but he had been adamant about not rushing out into the dead of night to pick up the trail of the abducted girl.

It might have been a different matter had Gamard had the good fortune of knowing these strangers beforehand. He needed to know their abilities and be familiar with how they would react in battle, especially when confronted with an unexpected foe or trap.

He was not comfortable with the notion of trying to find and follow a trail in the darkness, especially if they became separated. Not knowing how everyone might react in such circumstances, it could be a situation where someone might mistake another of being an enemy, if they lost track of each other in the darkness. No sense in attacking somebody by mistake.

Better to get to know his companions during the light of day. Fortunately, there was a tracker in the group. This would allow the Cleric to follow at a distance, observing the land on either side of the trail, plus scrutinizing each of his companions.

Once darkness enveloped them, it would be necessary to know who he could trust to have his back; while more importantly, he needed to know who he would have to watch and protect, should the rescuers find themselves under attack.

So the Grim One sorted through his belongings, taking inventory one more time, before packing for the morning journey. He continued to pray for guidance and wisdom.

Gamard set his Chain Mail Armor against the wall by his bed, then set his boots next to his armor; along with his breeches, shirt and sleeveless hooded cloak that buttons down over his shirt.

He set his Quarterstaff and Club next to these items, before checking his Bed Roll and Back Pack. Then he fastened his Sling to his Belt Pouch with 40 Bullets placed strategically inside the pouch. The Belt Pouch also concealed 1 Trail Ration,1 Flask of Holy Water and 2 Flasks of Oil, plus his Flint and Steel for starting fires, before turning his attention to the remaining items to store inside or outside his pack.

Gamard chose to place his remaining 4 Trail Rations inside his pack, along with 2 Flasks of Holy Water and 8 Flasks of Oil. Also inside his Back Pack was a Sack, 8 Torches and 50 feet of Rope.

On the outside of his Back Pack, he fastened 2 more Torches on either side for balance. A Wine Skin filled with Wine hung from the left side of his pack and a Wine Skin filled with Water hung from the right side of his pack.

Finally, a Chain was comfortably draped over his Back Pack, easily accessible in case of a surprise attack when another weapon was not suitable for any particular foe.

Gamard the Grim finished his inventory packing, danced a jig around the room a few times in praise to Inko-mengu, then kneeled at the foot of his bed to give a final thanks, before going to sleep.

Before Dawn
He awoke refreshed and ready to begin the hunt for the abductor of the girl Tara. After washing his face he began praying to his deity Inko-mengu:

"Oh, Inko-mengu, the Sky-light of my life! Hear my plea to shed your great light of goodness! Grant my heart strength with your light and life! Burn away the evil and unlife of this darkness we must face this day! May your radiance shine and prevail over the darkness!"

"Help me to be an example of your light and life this day! Grant me your power to cast your radiance upon the forces of darkness! Grant me the wisdom to know which spells to use this day to undo the works of darkness we may encounter!"

"Life is never a gift to be taken for granted, so help me to fulfill your will and live my life to the fullest this day! Guide me along the trail this day! Grant your life to Tara and any other captives this day! Protect them so we may rescue them and return Tara to her father!"

"Grant my companions your light and life this day! Help us to work together to banish the darkness and heal the injured this day! May this dark terror pass away in the light of your radiance!"

"I Swear My Allegiance to You as a Knight of Holy Anger ... this day ... and always!"

Gamard spent a long while in silence, listening for any directions or last minute instructions whispered to his heart by his deity. Satisfied that he was now as spiritually prepared as possible, for whatever he and his companions might encounter, Gamard the Grim dressed quickly and carried his belongings downstairs, where he waved cheerfully to his gathered companions.

He ordered a bowl of fruit and some juice, then took a seat at a vacant table, eating his breakfast and engaging in a conversation with the Bar Tender, taking note of what supplies had been donated for their journey and who was carrying the donated provisions.

After thanking the Bar Tender and his wife for their hearty hospitality, Gamard settled any remaining bill, before heading to the adjacent stable.

Gamard was pleased with the mount that was selected for him to ride. He praised the owner of the stable for supplying him and his companions with such fine mounts. He even took some extra time to assure the owner that his donation of horses and saddles was important to their finding Tara alive!

Then he remembered what one of the men had mentioned the previous evening: "Only one place in town for healing items, that would be Adriana’s place." The way he said it sounded as if it might be a problem, "Ah... I doubt you will get anything from her for free."

Gamard checked his coin purse, then asked the owner for directions to Adriana's place. Informing his companions that it was important for the Cleric to secure whatever bandages and healing herbs were available, before he set out on the trail.

Gamard assured them that he would catch up with them, if they decided to leave before the Cleric was finished with his business: "If any of you think it is a waste of time, then go on ahead of me! I will catch up with you before long! Besides, if anything is following you, then I can attack it ... before it attacks you!"

Gamard let out a hearty laugh, observed the reactions of his companions, then walked his horse over to Adriana's place, humming a tune of praise to his deity, as he held the reins in his left hand, walking with his Quarterstaff in his right hand, his Club secured in a loop on the back of the saddle.

Upon entering Adriana's place, he introduced himself and explained to Adriana what his purpose was that morning, emptying the contents of his coin purse on a nearby counter top, asking her to provide whatever bandages and healing herbs she could spare for their journey to rescue Tara.

Then he opened his Back Pack to make room for anything that would not fit in his Belt Pouch, all the while keeping his eye on the proprietor of the store.

After a few moments, the Cleric leaned forward and asked, "What can you tell me about the Rokash ... and do you have anything in your store ... or any suggestions ... that would help us to defeat these dark creatures?"

Regarding Adrianna where on the Map is her place located and is she usually awake at Dawn or shortly thereafter?

Am not sure how much Coin the Khord has to spend on Healing stuff, but I am sure Adrianna has some info worth imparting before searching for Tara!

I write it in Bold when he is addressing several people at once (making sure to be heard above any other noise). If he were totally shouting then every letter would be in Caps to differentiate!

He was speaking loud to Tal so when the man recovered, if he was unsure of how he got there to the Inn, then he would remember a Khord and his Emerald Braid and his Promise to find his daughter!

Indeed he is called Gamard the Grim for a reason!

That discourse fits the back story that I provided Red Sector A before we started this adventure!

There is a Purpose to what Gamard is doing!

It will separate the Pretenders from the Contenders!

[More characterization to follow along the Trail as the adventure advances!]

Topic: Trail of the Rokash
Subject: BACKPOST Response to Liriel

"Why just before dawn?" Liriel's voice sang out as a young man dedicated himself to the cause. "If demons we face you’ll be needing one of my talents, but why give them such a great advantage as to an entire night?" Liriel strode confidently into the room she flourished her arms at the poor victim of circumstance, "The attack on this man was clearly hours ago, and you propose to sit and eat while the attacker makes time with his daughter? As a crusader against dark things you know the creature will not stop and rest for the night. Every moment with this creature brings this girl closer to her doom, perhaps worse. It is likely taxing on her mind and driving her to insanity. I say we prepare our goods and make time now. Time is of the essence and it is not our ally."

Gamard the Grim set his jaw tight as the newcomer with the sing song voice boldly challenged his reasons for waiting until dawn to embark on a rescue. Unexpected memories of similar reasons and their dire consequences came flooding in upon him, tugging at his heart and assailing his emotions.

He looked around the room at the various reactions to her reasons, snorted with a bit of irritation that most of those assembled in the Inn had no earthly idea of what it was like to go charging off into the night to avenge a noble cause, nor did they realize the dangers of such impulsive actions!

Stroking his Emerald Braid thoughtfully, waiting for the murmurs of the townsfolk to quiet down, the Khord Cleric suddenly jumped on a nearby chair, then swiftly jumped on top of a table, before addressing these newly voiced concerns.

"Tis True that Time is Not Our Ally! Neither is the Dark of Night and the Unknown! Only Daylight is Our Ally!"

"Yes ... Many Hours Have Passed and the Girl is Scared and in Danger! But I Know From My Own Experience ... of Being Captured When I was a Young Boy ... that Children Become Numb to the Danger! Children Find a Way to Escape the Insanity"

"There Comes a Time Every Child Becomes Numb to the Danger! From My Own Experience! From What I Have Seen and Heard from Other Children!"

"We Still Have Time! Missing Children are Usually the Bait for Adults to Rush into the Darkness of Night to be Butchered or Worse!"

"I Have Been in This Type of Situation Before! Rushing Out into the Dark of Night without a Plan! Charging Off on a Noble Cause with No Plan or Preparation!"

Gamard paused for a moment, then lifted the protective eye patch that covered his left eye, slowly turning in a circle for the gathered townsfolk to get a good view. Although his left eye was horribly scarred, it was apparent to those who looked closely that Gamard was able to see from that eye!

"I Wear This Patch as a Reminder! Years Ago I was in a Place Such as This! A Group of Adventurers were Stirred to Dash Off into the Dead of Night to Rescue a Poor Unfortunate! I was with Them! Rushing Out to Help in a Noble Cause!"

"No Plan! No Preparation! Most were Butchered or Not Seen Again! I Almost Lost My Eye! The Noble Cause Ended in Bitter Failure! That Night I Learned a Hard Lesson!"

"I Will Not Make That Mistake Again! I Will Leave at Dawn! You are Free to Rush Out into the Dark if You So Choose! If You Bring Tara Back in the Morning I Will Rejoice!"

"How Prepared are You to Follow Her Captor in the Darkness? How Prepared are You to Go and Not Use Light or Torches or Campfires that would Show Her Captor Our Location?"

"You Are Free to Go Now if You So Choose! I Will Not Stop You! Perhaps You are Better at Such Rescues than Me? Who Knows? Just Beware of Any Traps in the Darkness! You Are Free to Go Now!"

"But If I Find Your Dead Carcase on the Trail ... I Will Not Stop to Bury You! If I Find You on the Trail Bleeding or Dying ... I Will Not Stop to Waste a Healing Spell on You!"

"We are Not Talking About Just Rescuing Tara! My Experience as a Crusader Against Dark Things Tells Me There Are Probably More to Rescue!"

"Not to Mention Finding a Way to Destroy Whatever ... or Whoever ... Is Responsible!"

"Better to Get a Good Sleep! Leave at Dawn so We Know the Territory! We May Be Fleeing for Our Lives in the Dark of Night ... Trying to Bring Other Captives Back Alive!"

"I Choose to Sleep and Prepare! There Will Probably Be No Sleep for Us Tomorrow Night ... Nor No Sleep the Following Night ... Possibly! So It Is Best to Sleep While We Can! Unless You Choose to Go Now! My Choice is to Sleep and Prepare!"

"Let the Dark Forces Beware! There Be Time Enough to Find Tara ... Alive!"

Gamard looked each patron in the eye with his uncovered purple eye, before returning to his bar stool to have another round of Bitter Root Beer and another plate full of Bar Stool Blues.

Interesting that neither Revlan nor Amariel reacted to the incoming Rats (relying on their teammates ... at least Amariel is relying on her teammates!)

I enjoy playing with Players who have been in the Trenches of D&D so to speak and do not turn their backs on 4 dangerous Were Rats while the summoned Rats are entering the area!

There are some Players who would have instantly reacted to the incoming Rats and forgotten about the threat of the Were Rats!

It also makes it Interesting that if Riaucard and clockwork demise fail to post, then I will definitely have to NPC their characters!

So there is the possibility of their arriving in time to help attack the incoming Rats!

I am Not telling you how many Rats are incoming! (I have already rolled for the number of Rats each Were Rat has telepathically summoned to help!)

Plus, I am also sure that Willow has sent out a call for Smoke to come a running!

So Far both Revlan and Amariel have been played 'In Character' at a high level for their actions thus far!

I expect the other players will do the same as we get into the flow of the game!

The 2 posts together with both Revlan and Amariel facing the Were Rats!

I have to go out again for a while, but will get the spells for the Cleric and Druid posted possibly sometime tonight, so Shining Orb and Brianna know what is available!

Were Rats are able to use the Longswords and also BITE their victims!

Rats also Bite!

What to do ??? What to do ???

Thanks T_O

Also, in a day or so I will be posting the Spells that are available for both the Cleric and the Druid (I have some catching up to do!)

It is understood that Revlan is taking a defensive stance and an offensive spouting off words to egg the Were Rats on to do something!

Yes you are pushing it with Revlan, but to begin the adventure I was not putting something in the tunnel that would Kill him when he rounded the first turn!

I once had a character here at the Inn that I put a lot of time into developing and he got Killed in the first sequence of events!

You are playing Revlan in character and it really adds to the story!

Another character may have to step up and give him some friendly advice, assuming he survives the Rats and Were Rats ?????
