The Clerics from the Clan of the Copper Caverns seemed to have a plan in place as 25 Giant Worker Ants marched towards them in the same manner as the ones menacing the South Enders.

At least their time in captivity had provided the Clerics plenty of opportunity to remember how to work as a team from their years of defending the whereabouts of the Copper Dragon Treasure.

Cleric #8 and Cleric #1 wasted no time in expelling their Sound Blast Spell as their comrades stood ready to loose a lone Arrow against their advancing opponents.

Twin thunderclaps of sound erupted above the noise of the Dark Arena crowd as Cleric #8 struck Ant #3 dead center on the first row, while Cleric #1 struck Ant #5 dead center on the first row.

Cleric #8 succeeded in inflicting the bare minimum of damage with his Sound Burst Spell as did Cleric #1.

The Sound Burst from Cleric #8 spread to all 5 Ants on the first row and the third and fourth Ant on the second row; Stunning Ants 1,2,3&5 in row one and Ant 3 in row 2.

Cleric #1 succeeded in striking Ants 3,4&5 on row one plus Ants 4&5 on the second row; Stunning Ants 3,4&5 on row one and Ants 4&5 on row two.

Cleric #2 loosed an Arrow true against Ant # 2 on row one that found its mark for nearly maximum damage; while Cleric #3 had the opposite result against Ant #1 on row one.

Cleric #4 did as well as #2 against Ant #3 on the first row; while Cleric #5 scored half damage potential against Ant #5 on row one.

Cleric #6 matched #4 against Ant #4 on row one; while Cleric #7 could only match #3 against Ant #3 on the first row.

The Clerics have succeeded in stopping the Ants from advancing further, providing another opportunity to strike their opponents before they are able to move any further!

..... the clarification Almerin!

I actually wrote that post at the office while waiting for my sports page to be approved and there was quite a long delay that allowed me to write the whole thing!

Glad it was okay and in character for Loco to have heard what was going on in his mushroomed state of mind because I left all his info at the house on my laptop and was writing it from memory!

Glad you enjoyed what I wrote!

Am looking forward to the interaction with the other players and their characters playing off what we are posting from what Almerin has presented to us!

Wedding Party
Second Day
The Spores of Itanlok
Mushroom Forest
Warrens of Gunthras

'Loco' Fungihammer swayed his way between the revelers who were draining their tankards in celebration of the long awaited union of Kretarund and Befilda Orehand.

Almost absent mindedly fingering one of the braids of his silver beard that held the small sapphire that was given to him countless years earlier by the bride's family for rescuing their children; the Cleric stared almost trance-like at the merry makers who were enshrouded in a purple haze that filled the perceptions of his mushroom enhanced mind.

The Orehands and the Shieldmasters had planned this wedding since Befilda was a toddler. It was a great opportunity for both parties, since it would strengthen their positions as aspiring granite-distributors.

"Well ... it could have been a tiny chunk of granite I suppose ... a small reward for the dangers I had to overcome ... rescuing those boys from ..."

Kretarund and Befilda Orehand were sitting on a single big chair, taking in the festivities and whispering soft comments about the guests in each other’s ear over a mug of Dark Bellyfold.

"...Oh you have to be kidding me! Did you invite 'Loco' Fungihammer to the party?”

The groom had almost dropped his mug in astonishment. Befilda followed his gaze and groaned.

“Tyrannis’ Tits, I didn’t think ‘e would actually show up. You know ‘e saved some of me brothers? I couldn’t NOT invite him. Cost me quite a bit to track him down too. Let’s just hope ‘e will stay away from the beer.”

Kretarund laughed heartily at his wife’s remark. “We’re Khords. Of course he won’t stay away from the beer!”

The words seemed to ripple their way over the crowd with big white block letters, burning their way through the purple haze, seemingly fuzzy and faded as they reached out and touched the Cleric's enhanced senses.

"Such a lovely couple ... they deserve each other ... why I remember when ..."

To prove his claim he brought the Dark Bellyfold to his lips and dried it to the last drop.

He flung the wooden mug to the ground and echoed a deep, satisfied burp over the heads of the crowd.

Cheers went up and more than one reply sounded back at the couple.

The cacaphony of sounds assailing 'Loco' Fungihammer's mushroomed consciousness caused his brain to surf the soundwaves of a seemingly endless ocean of Erps and Burps that had spontaneously followed the dull thud of the wooden mug that the groom had flung to the ground.

Swept back into the cesspool of his clouded memories ... 'Loco' was helpless to withstand the flood of memories assailing his mind ... remembering the dark visions of a wedding ... the dangers that were to follow ... children needing a champion ... nay ... several champions ... to free them from their fears ...

He had heeded such visions thrice before ... as the sapphire, emerald and ruby stones in the three braids of his silver beard did attest ... but the last rescue had cost the adventurer dearly ...

His childhood friend ... one Stinkpod Stonecutter ... had given his life in the galiant effort to rescue the children ... for 'Loco' had been forced to choose ... the life of his friend ... or ... the life of the children ... and the results of his choice ... had driven the Cleric to a life of solitude the past 10 years in a secluded cavern ... in the Caves of Madness ...

From the depths of those Caves of Madness ... 'Loco' had found solace with his mushrooms ... only emerging a number of weeks ago on sheer impulse ... goaded by the dark visions ... seeking relief ... seeking a quest ... knowing the danger ... challenging the unknown ...

Days later the Cleric chanced upon a grim messenger ... bearing an invitation to the wedding of Befilda ... the invitation had been a mere courtesy ... that the Cleric fully understood ... but an invitation that bore witness ... none the less ... to setting the stage ... of the unfolding of coming events ... foreseen in the Caves of Madness ... things unspoken ... things feared ... things ...

Pulling him from his dark reverie were the war-drum percussionists ... as 'Loco' found himself contorting and gyrating in tune with the echoing ... and re-echoing ... of the drum beats ... resounding inside his mind ... multiplying ... then dividing ... increasing ... then decreasing ... as the crescendo of the Catch the Badger dance ... melted the Cleric's aloof introspection ...

'Loco' found himself loosing his pent up emotions ... riding the waves of the percussionists ... flowing with the celebration of the crowd ... descending a multitude of times more ... in the midst of his memories of descending into the earth upon the whirling staircase ... entering this rabbits nest ... with all the security of ...

Suddenly a loud explosion erupted from somewhere close to the bar, which made the ground shake and brought sand and dust misting from the ceiling.

Heads turned, silence fell and everyone’s attention was on a Khord with a blackened face, who was holding what was left of two wooden mugs.

“My apologies,” he shied, then started laughing.

They all knew who he was: Magnumopus Warpstone, one of the Servants of Fire and Stone; followers of Kharox that experimented in chemistry and ‘new weaponry’.

A dangerous lot to be around. Apparently, he had been mixing different kinds of ale that did not fit together well.

Magnumopus looked around at the astonished faces of the Khords around him. They were as black as he was and equally unharmed.

Still, he started brushing off the first person that came to hand: a strong fellow named Kharov.

The silence slowly faded when chatter restarted and Kretarund returned to his bride.

“Bef,” he said, “this is the best wedding a Khord could wish for.”

'Loco' Fungihammer surfed the soundwaves of his mind ... enjoying every mushroom enhanced moment ... the dark cobwebs blasted from his mind at long last ...

Lifting a tankard of fresh Bitter Root Beer ... the Cleric offered a toast to no one in particular ... least of all the bride and groom ...

"Make Room for the Mushrooms!"

I assume we are just mixing and drinking and whatever until Almerin interjects some conflict into the adventure!

By the way, I got a good chuckle out of Loco being introduced into the storyline!

So where on the map is acceptable for me to have my character hiding out in a long forgotten cavern?

Dusk opened up his backpack and loosened the neck of the bag within. Despite being able to fit within the knapsack, the bag weighed a static 12 pounds and could carry much more than that. After a little search, Dusk reached in to find the old sheath of the shortsword they had found before the Twilight event.

"This blade contains an enchantment, that which I do not know the source of, only that it exists," Dusk said, drawing the blade smoothly despite the decrepit condition of the hilt and sheath. "While I wish its properties appraised before we travel and I might have need of it, I do not currently have the gold to purchase a pearl of sufficient value nor to pay a mage for such services."

His hooded eyes turned towards the others and the door behind which the council members had disappeared.

"Unless the council has the resources to provide such items or services, I will aid you, dwarf, in finding what you need in return for funds or such a pearl," said Dusk to Hammer. He bowed slightly, though still did not take the dwarf's extended arm.

"Other than a sturdy Flaming Scimitar to replace the one that was destroyed in a previous adventure ... I need your help in selecting appropriate Magical Items that may come in handy against the Arcane Forces that are disrupting this universe!"

"It matters not if you grip my hand in friendship! Taking My Gold is action enough among new-found friends!"

Manalagna Hammer offers the Gold to his new friend and proceeds to locate any Magic Items his remaining Gold can afford to procure!

Subject: South Enders Turn 1 - Combat Round 1 has just ...

..... been posted as I took the time here at the office to roll the dice and jot down the results and then type up the entry in Land of Xenophobia!

Last night I did not get home until 11pm and I promised to have this done by tonight ... so I took care of it with some of my free time before working on my sports scoreboard page here at the office!

You will notice when reading that I took the action of the PC Characters in the order that the Players contacted me with their Target Decisions!

For the Second Round of Combat the NPC Bard is going to assist the Fighters!

ThunnGarr the Mighty will make his move depending upon what the other PC Players Decide to do!

Bumble Brew will go last with another FireBall from her Staff of Power!

Cunning Fox will take his two shots right before Bumble Brew does her thing!

Let Me Know What You Decide for Round 2 Combat before the Giant Ants are Able to Advance Further!

Meanwhile ... I will have to post the Clerics, Monks and Fighters for the 1st and 2nd Combat Rounds along with our 2nd Combat Round ... Which I Plan to Have Done By Sunday!

Of Course ... I Will Do the South Enders 2nd Combat Round as Soon as I Receive Any Further Directions ... Or I Will Just Go Ahead and Post from What I Can Glean from Your Q&A Responses Previously!

Like I Would Assume that Sir Yder will Shoot at Ant #1 Again Until Eliminated By His Arrow Combined with Whoever Else will Target Ant #1 Again!

The Roar of the Dark Arena crowd washed over the Other World combatants who seemed to be momentarily mesmerized by the impact of ThunnGarr the Mighty's Dwarven Thrower knocking the monstrosity [on the far right of the first row] unconscious on the sands!

The Giant Worker Ants were making a low buzzing noise and Amberlyn Foxfire suddenly realized that her Special Gift of the Helm of Comprehend Languages and Read Magic was somehow revealing to her that the Giant Ants were Extremely Hostile and Communicating Orders to Exterminate Every Non-Ant upon the Dark Arena Sands!

"Be Careful." Amberlyn calls out loudly, "Those Ants are communicating with each other and they are dead set on killing every non-ant out here!"

Sir Yder sensed the same thing with his Helm of Telepathy and quickly responded by aiming his Composite Long Bow at the Ant directly in front of him [1st Row - 1st Ant] and sending an Arrow straight and true into its intended victim!

The Knight held his ground as he realized that it may take several more arrows to vanquish this one foe alone!

Ariane the young Paladin heeded Amberlyn's words as she had the same idea hanging onto her. For the Higher-Ups to intently utilize these type of creatures in an arena battle, it was all about who dies and who doesn't.

She chose her target well, knowing that every Ant in the Dark Arena must die for her and her comrades at arms to survive and face the next set of foes!

Her Arrow found its mark [2nd Row - 4th Ant] but Ariane realized as did the Knight Sir Yder that these Ants seened to be as resilient as their size!

Ullrich the Ranger had selected two Arrows and drawn a bead on yet another Ant further away [3rd Row - 5th Ant] ... his first Arrow doing Maximum Damage, yet his second Arrow somehow only managed less than half the effect of the first, but the Giant Ant was injured enough to stop its forward progress as it tried to use its high intelligence to figure out which creature had caused it so much pain?

Amberlyn chose to fire upon the Ant in the middle of the front line [1st Row - 3rd Ant] with her Composite Long Bow.

Her shield was at the ready for any close quarters combat, as was her Feathered Long Sword, which stood at the ready point down in the sands when called upon for melee combat.

But Amberlyn fared not so well with her first shot, as it caused only the minimum amount of injury to the Giant Ant ... whether it was a case of nerves ... a reluctance to take a life ... or a badly crafted weapon she was forced to use ... the young Knight in training would have plenty more opportunities to slay these opponents ... and whatever else was sent to destroy the prisoners!

Shandra the Monk fared only slightly better as her chosen Arrow bit into the Ant [1st Row - 5th Ant] that lay unconscious from ThunnGarr's Dwarven Thrower!

However ... her action resulted in a Grievous Wound to the Giant Ant as the unconscious opponent now lay with its life blood slowly oozing from the Arrow point in its underside!

She kept her Staff of the Woodlands at the ready, but stood ready with her Composite Long Bow and Arrows to help keep the Giant Ants at bay!

Cunning Fox knew the importance of eliminating their fallen foes!

With his first Arrow, the Cleric fired a shot at the Grievously Wounded Ant [1st Row - 5th Ant] that imbedded itself mere inches from the Arrow that Shandra had sent ... with just enough force and accuracy that combined with the Monk's shot resulted in Mortally Wounding their unconscious foe!

This Giant Ant Will Die in 3 Rounds from Mortal Wounds! No Need to Strike It Further!

Cunning Fox then loosed his second Arrow against the Giant Ant that Sir Yder had targeted [1st Row - 1st Ant] that further proved what the Knight had already concluded ... that it may take several more Arrows to Exterminate this Foe!

Bumble Brew realized that she would have to move into a better position to assist her teammates in this battle to survive!

She quickly ran 15 feet to the North East and then the young Wizard pointed her Staff of Power at her intended target [2nd Row - 1st Ant] that was now in an unobstructed straight line view!

Uttering a quick prayer to her God of Greater Hope ... Bumble Brew was surprised that the FireBall unleashed from her Staff of Power had either luckily ... or by divine design ... struck the Giant Ant with a Full Force of Power!

Time had seemed to stand still as a small ball of fire emanated from the staff ... hurtled through the air ... then struck the intended victim with a low roar ... almost muffled by the roar of the Dark Arena blood thirsty crowd ... the explosion mushrooming out with intense fire and heat ... striking All the Giant Ants on the 2nd Row ... the first 4 Ants on the 1st Row ... the first 4 Ants on the 3rd Row ... plus the first 3 Ants on the 4th Row!

This Unexpected Explosive Attack Caused ALL the Giant Ants to Freeze in Their Tracks ... Affording the South Enders to Gain the Initiative for the Second Round of Combat Before the Ants Could Move Further!

No Hard Feelings ... Just Extremely Stretched ... and I have admittedly lost track of the flow of this adventure!

Went in to work early this morning and once again the Server was down and no internet or wire services and I had to wait 2.5 hours for the IT to come to the office to get things up and running so I could do my job!

Perhaps on Thursday I can at least read up on what has been posted and make a decision by Sunday!
