The Lurkers already know about your sword and the tree!

All kidding aside, like T_O there has been a stomach bug going around and I am still recovering!

Once T_O gets his response posted in the game, then I will get something for Rex, before moving the adventure update back along toward the City of Lasch.

Glad you guys are enjoying this ride!

When I was under 5 years of age my grandmother and then my mother read me 'Alice in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll.

When I took the book back to my grandmother, she read it again, but told me that I would have to learn how to read for myself if I wanted to read it again, because that would be the last time she would read it to me!

My mom refused to read it to me a second time!

It was my favorite story and motivated me to learn how to read as soon as possible!

I poured over that book for months at a time!

Recognizing certain words and they helped me to sound out vowels and I began my journey of reading on my own!

My grandfather worked with me every night getting down on his hands and knees as we spread the comics section of The Detroit News on the floor!

We would read 'Alley Oop' and 'Lil Abner' every night and on Saturdays and Sundays!

Plus my grandparents bought me a 5 year subscription to 'Walt Disney's Comics & Stories' before I was 5 years old, teaching me to take care of my comic books!

Not to mention all the 'Little Golden Books' that I grew up with (starting before I could read on my own!)

..... he mentioned tracks to the north ... strange tracks!

As much as we may want to fight them, it may be more feasible to pick our fights later!

At the moment Roger is the spokesperson!

Let us see how Roger reacts to the fact that these are Not men from Drannon!

They obviously are ready for a fight ... but at least the leader mentioned strange tracks to the north ... and back handed his man for threatening us!

I think we can take them easily enough, but we would have to leave their dead bodies ... if we do not want to be delayed any further!

What are your choices my friends ????

Topic: Trail of the Rokash
Subject: Wagon Dilemma

"I suggest you forget this foolishness," she said leaning forward and looking him closely in the eyes before rising and turning away from him, "but I know you will not. Good day sir and good luck!"

The old woman's ominous warning rang in Gamard's ears as he secured the bandages and herbs for poultices inside his back pack. He chose to carry the 4 healing potions bottles in his belt pouch, just in case they were needed during a lull in battle ... or in the midst of one.

As he rode with his companions, choosing to take up the rear of the adventurous caravan, the Cleric of Inko-mengu pondered the ominous words of the old woman; while riding in silence, studying his 4 companions

"Foolish because you rush out into search of something and you know nothing of what you seek." she said with a shake of her head, "I am afraid nothing I can give you will aid you in your endeavours; some of you may survive the quest and you may rescue the girl but you will set into motion a chain of events which will only cause more pain and suffering to many more people."

Gamard the Grim had a much grimmer countenance as he thought upon these words ... their meaning ... and whether or not his destiny was now entwined with the 4 riding before him ... beyond the task of rescuing Tara ... plus any other captives ... held in the clutches of the dark unknown.

So he continually pondered the words of the old woman, while observing his companions as they rode ever onward towards the unknown.

Roger seemed to be riding in the lead with a sense of purpose ... far beyond the mere task at hand of finding an abducted little girl. Gamard had settled the issue in his heart within 10 minutes of riding east ... that he could count on this human to have his back at a moments notice ... so he would have his!

Eadric rode slightly behind Roger, taking in the surrounding countryside, as if he were an awe-filled tourist. He seemed to be a bit apprehensive, which Gamard dismissed as merely being a youth, headed towards his first unknown battle.

Of course, the Khord had done little to set the young man at ease, choosing to observe how the young human would respond in a conflict. His apprehensiveness would serve him well ... keeping his senses on edge ... ready to react with the stout heart of a warrior ... or so Gamard thought.

He was sure that Roger would be able to take the young human under his wing, inspiring Eadric to follow his lead. Eadric had the air of gallantry about him ... in spite of his youth and inexperience.

Liriel and Salene rode almost side by side along the trail, but neither spoke to the other. It was a contrast of personalities. Liriel seemed to be a human woman who walked to the beat of a different drummer. She had an air about her ... not just because she spoke her mind and had stormed off on her own last night ... but there was a strangeness ... a power about her ... that Gamard noted she would be able to hold her own against any unexpected danger!

Salene, however, was a different story altogether ... and Gamard knew that of the 4 companions ... this Half Sil would bear some watching ... and protecting ... if necessary.

But the further they rode ... Gamard became more comfortable in his observations of the young woman ... that beneath the surface of a young lady seemingly unaccustomed to riding forth on an unknown adventure ... that she would prove to be capable of holding her own in the face of danger.

However, the Khord had made his decision within 30 minutes of the ride ... that of the 4 companions ... he would be sure to come to the aid of this young woman in a matter of moments!

So onward they rode ... in silence ... as Gamard turned his attention to studying the terrain about them ... while silently praying to Inko-mengu ... as to what the words of the old woman held in store ... not only for his destiny … but for the lives of his new companions as well.

Gamard and his black stallion mount, named Shadow, had bonded easily enough; each trusting the other as they rode ever onward to the east.

The black saddle was comfortable enough, even with the supplies of food, water, grain for their mounts, torches, rope and bedrolls safely secured behind each saddle.

Long ago, Gamard had adapted to the habit of riding while wearing his back pack, a custom that many Knights of Holy Anger were wont to do when riding off on a quest to confront dark dangers.

He was ready for any conflict. His pack secure upon his back; chain draped over the front of his saddle, helping to cradle his club, while gripping his quarterstaff in his left hand and holding the reins in his right hand.

His sling was easily accessible at the front of his belt pouch, as were the bullets that were strategically placed inside his pouch, ready at a moments notice!

Gamard had been alert enough to observe the wagon from afar, along with the tell tale signs of figures darting about with purpose.

He quietly urged Shadow to draw nearer to Salene, as the Knight of Holy Anger slowly withdrew his sling, along with 3 bullets, in case there be unexpected trouble up ahead.

The men seemed armed with short swords and daggers, with one of them in the back holding a short bow. They did not draw their weapons but anyone could see these men were anxious and ready just in case.

"Hold there!" one of the men on the wagon said holding up his hand towards the group, "we found this first so this here is ours."

Straightening in his saddle Roger placed a cold stare on the man, placing as much authority as he could in his voice he addressed the scavengers. "You may have found it, but it was never lost. This is sole possessions of a man who’s daughter was stolen by the Rokash. We have come looking for clues to aid us in our hunt for the girl. I would hope that the men of Drannon would remember their honor and not steal from the unfortunate." Placing his hand on his sword he continued, " In the name of the Emperor stand aside and let look for clues."

Gamard was content to let the drama play out, keeping a steady eye on the man with the bow, while Roger attempted a bit of diplomacy to diffuse the situation.

This would be a good opportunity to see how his comrades would react, but the Khord was not just sitting idly in his saddle.

Tucking his quarterstaff under his left arm in a casual manner, the Khord slowly loaded his sling with one of the bullets, holding the other two in his left hand, then leaned a bit forward in his saddle, as he slowly placed his right hand to the rear of his saddle.

He made it look as casual as possible, as if he were leaning forward in a non-threatening manner, to see how things would play out between the two parties; while he readied his sling to cast the first bullet at the bowman, should things go sour quickly!

..... sounds like the comics when there would be conflict between the Super Heroes re: A Fight Among Them!

The original Avengers comic had Loki stirring up The Hulk to wreak havoc and attack his half brother Thor and that is how the Avengers were birthed in the Marvel Comics (with Iron Man and Giant Man and The Wasp).

Captain America did not debut until Avengers #4

A few years ago Marvel came out with a new Ultimate Avengers from which Nick Fury was Black and Captain America also used a hand gun!

I have read some of the comics that Josh Whedon wrote a few years ago, so am looking forward to this film!

Subject: Goblin Run

Goblin Gore
Late Morning on Thursday
March 15, 212awd (After Winter Dark)

The pony-sized dragons were causing mayhem and terror in the goblin horde. Battered and torn little bodies were tossed this way and that as none of the goblins even tried to defend himself. For a heartbeat or three Danamar almost felt sorry for the screaming humanoids, but the feeling passed as quickly as it had come. They'd brought their fate upon themselves and had to now suffer the consequences… And so would he by the looks of it, as twenty and some of the little monsters were running for their lives directly towards him.

There wasn't much time to think let alone plan for some kind of action, so the ranger did what came easiest to him. He let his hatred towards all things goblinoid rise to the surface. Drawing his brother's slim, beautiful sword Danamar waited for the goblins to come closer. The dark-haired elf knew he was playing a gamble with his life, but he wasn't going to step aside and let anyone think he was afraid of the greenskins, for he wasn't. Ever since his family and friends had died at the hands of the orc war party, Danamar had known he would one day meet his doom in mortal combat against some evil monster. He really had nothing to lose. No one would miss him.

So as the panicking goblins made their way to the top of the slope, Danamar let the first few pass his hiding place before jumping up. Towering over the creatures half his size, the ranger gave the already startled goblins his most terrifying roar of hatred and rage and charged through them towards the wagon striking at anything that came within his reach. There was no concern for his own life left. There was no mercy in his gleaming emerald eyes. He only wanted the goblins dead.

Throwing caution to the wind, Danamar made his move towards the wagon, swinging his sword with two hands, while unleashing a terrifying roar born from the forest where he learned to wage a relentless war against the Orcs that had slain his family and friends!

He cut a bloody swath of Goblin gore as he charged forward. Limbs, heads and entrails were not spared from his thirsting blade, as 11 Goblins met their death by the vengeful blade of Danamar.

So terrified were the Goblins, they offered no resistance as they fled to escape the Halfling Dragons who had suddenly turned the tables against their captors.

Meanwhile, Toraad and Sir Cal had no clue as to what had transpired in the clearing. When the commotion of the terrified Goblin screams reached their ears, they merely presumed that Danamar and Rextugenous had found a way to spring a trap against the Goblins, while finding a way to rescue the Halfling captives, Drog and Seg Kargar.

Toraad had little time to prepare a suitable trap of his own, but with the help of Sir Cal, they positioned the 5 sharpened Javelins in the ground between 2 stout trees. Then Toraad took a position behind the tree to his right, while Sir Cal did likewise behind the tree to his left.

Mere moments before the terrified Goblins came crashing through the trees, running for their lives, Toraad cast a Shield of Faith spell with an unknown Dwarven chant, as the Cleric Mercenary Fighter gripped the handle of his War Hammer, prepared to even the odds that had been set against them.

As for Sir Cal, the Knight Illusionist had sent out a call to his faithful steed Orion, praying that his horse was true to form, sneaking closer to where his master had gone, not heeding his instructions to remain behind where it would be much safer.

Then he called upon a Dragon Toughness spell, in an unfamiliar Elven tongue, as he pulled his Bastard Sword from its sheathe, anticipating the battle that was soon to come. He just had time to utilize his Embolden ability to aid his friend Toraad, before the maniacal horde of terrified Goblins rushed headlong into their hastily prepared defenses!

Five Goblins impaled themselves upon the 5 Javelins, closely followed by 5 more, a double skewer that claimed their miserable lives! They were immediately trampled by an untold number of Goblins, who were not slowed by the bloody corpses underneath their feet.

More Goblins were running past the trees where the two LC Avengers were hidden. Toraad sprang into action with his War Hammer, crushing skulls and bodies. The Dwarf was determined to redeem himself in the eyes of his deity Steel. He succeeded in slaying 6 Goblins, before the remainder rushed past the Dwarf, fleeing for their lives!

As for Sir Cal, his Bastard Sword sliced through the body of 1 Goblin, but the Knight had the misfortune of imbedding his blade in the trunk of the tree, unable to jerk the blade loose, while more Goblins threatened to trample him in their mad rush for freedom!

Fortunately, his faithful steed Orion arrived in answer to his call, stomping 3 Goblins to death, before they could harm his master! The remainder of the onrushing horde, mistaking the horse for the horrors they were so desperately trying to escape from, dispersed in several directions to avoid the horse.

Both Toraad and Sir Cal turned to watch the fleeing Goblins, when a wondrous sight greeted their amazed eyes!

Several of the Goblins that had rushed past them were suddenly slashed to ribbons by some unseen force! As they stood seemingly frozen in amazement, there was a shimmering of colors in the air, as two odd looking Dragons materialized before their eyes!

The Dragon to their left claimed the lives of 3 Goblins, while further away to the right, the other Dragon savagely ended the lives of 10 more Goblins!

There was another shimmer of colors, as the Dragons shape shifted into the forms of Drog Kargar on their left and Seg Kargar to their far right side!

Drog and Seg glared at their former companions momentarily, before shape shifting back into their Halfling Dragon forms. Toraad and Sir Cal watched in amazement, as Drog and Seg each grabbed two more Goblins with their Dragon claws, then flew above the tree tops, before releasing their captives!

Orion stomped the ground in agitation, but held his ground next to Sir Cal, as the 4 Goblin captives hurtled to the ground in a crumpled mess, staining the forest floor with their gore!

The Halfling Dragons disappeared from sight over the tree tops, in the direction of the clearing, as Toraad and Sir Cal cast inquisitive looks towards one another, wanting to know if the other companion had truly seen what the other combatant had just witnessed, as the sounds of fleeing Goblins faded away in the dense forest expanse.

Meanwhile, back in the clearing, Rextugenous had succeeded in persuading the horses to turn the wagon around in the direction of the trail leading back to the City of Lasch. Rex was the only LC Avenger who had not encountered any fleeing Goblins.

Danamar had made his way to the wagon without a scratch, although the blood and gore streaming from his blade had splattered upon his arms, legs, chest and face. He assured Rex that he was unharmed, lending a hand in calming the horses.

Suddenly, the Halfling Dragons appeared in their path, growling an unintelligible sound in defiance of the two adventurers. Then just as suddenly, their forms shimmered into the more familiar sight of Drog and Seg Kargar.

The Halfling couple glared at Danamar and Rex, then spoke to the duo in Common:

"You both showed us kindness along the trail to the City of Lasch. We will do the same! You may keep the wagon and its treasure ... save for these Rings of Invisibility!"

"Fredrico and Lars were kind to us ... they saved our lives ... not knowing our true forms! We will find other treasure! By following the Goblin Shaman and his Acolytes!"

"You may leave this clearing in peace! We will do the same!"

Then without another word, Drog and Seg Kargar shifted themselves back into their true forms, before flying off above the tree tops, in the direction the Goblin Shaman and his Acolytes had taken earlier that morning.

Gamard is riding behind the procession, observing his new allies!

Suggestion: Perhaps we should refrain from fighting these looters? Instead, let them know the circumstances and how we are searching for Tara.

Let them loot the wagon, but ask if they have seen any evidence of a trail that the Rokash may have taken?

Also, ask them if they are interested in helping to rescue Tara?

If we find any treasure after rescuing Tara, we can always grubstake Tal to replace what has been looted from his wagon.

Any Thoughts?
