Am considering configuring South Enders Monday night if I am not too tired and by Tuesday for sure!

Please post your preference or I will make the choice for you to move the game along!

..... that moves the story along quite nicely!

I will have to re-read the Spores update to determine if both groups ended up at the pool or just one of them?

Anyway, I am at the office facing another busy day and I will have to read the story more closely at a later time!

Almerin, you have captured Loco's character marvelously!

Thanks!

Once Mortally Wounded the Dark Arena Dome is unable to revive either Ants or Gladiators!

Only Unconscious or Grievously Wounded will rise again for the next Turn's 6 Rounds of Combat.

So when the others let me know their targets then I will have Cunning Fox fire at the second target.

This seems to be working quite well as I now have configured all the North, West and East activity for Turn 2 Combat Round 1.

That means I am waiting upon confirmation from Abraxis, Brianna, Dragon Mistress and CirroWolf as to what action their characters will take according to the suggestions for Turn 1 Combat Round 6.

Cunning Fox might not have to cast a healing spell on Bumble Brew depending on what happens with the Clerics NPCs and how the Wave of Ants ends.

Of course, the attrition of Ants and NPCs thinning the ranks cuts down on configuration time also!

Sure would help if my character info for Loco could be posted, but maybe his decision to follow the trail along the path instead of following the others may bring his life to an abrupt end.

Looking forward to the outcome of all our actions!

Topic: The Spores of Itanlok - an Audalis Short Adventure
Subject: Not Quite Alone

Memories of his friend StinkPod StoneCutter lingered in his mind as Loco FungiHammer watched the last adventurer disappear into the Mushroom Forest long after the scream that drew them away from the trail had faded with the passing shadows.

StinkPod had run into an ambush rushing towards just such a scream, while Loco was freeing a child that had been captured by a slaver.

Loco had to choose between the bound child or following his friend. He chose to free the child and it cost him the future companionship and comraderie of his boyhood friend.

The party that ran towards the distant scream were not boyhood friends, but they were fellow Khords. However, Loco had made a vow to the grieving Khord mother back at the wedding festivities and the Cleric had meant with all his heart that if he were the only one to avenge her stricken child, then it would be so.

The other driving force rarely mentioned, but mostly discussed with StinkPod for so many tortuous years, was the loss of the girl child that was betrothed to Loco from her birth.

Loco's parents and her parents were longtime friends and had promised one another that if each couple were blessed to have a child born of the opposite sex that the children were bound by their parents vows to be married when they came of age.

Loco still had all too fleeting memories of his girl child bride to be, but the constant sorrow of the remembrance of her disappearance was all too fresh even after all these years for the Cleric to ignore the plight of others suffering the same or similar possibilities.

She was never found. She had disappeared without a trace. Both sets of parents exhausted their resources and abilities searching for years, until they too vanished without a trace or just never returned from their quest.

Loco had been shielded from much of this, but as with most other races, youngsters have a way of talking and saying things they overhear that should never be said or repeated.

Over the years Loco held out hope that perhaps somewhere his beloved betrothed was still alive, but over the years others would whisper it was madness to think such things.

So Loco dealt with his inner grief by searching for and rescuing other lost children whenever the situation presented itself.

StinkPod had dedicated himself to help his friend search and rescue the lost, but when StinkPod had run into an ambush following a distant scream, his life ended both slowly and suddenly under the torture of his captors.

Little solace for Loco that he was able to escape with the bound child because of the sacrifice of his boyhood friend, as it was even far more minute solace that no other Khord female would ever find room in his heart that was fully occupied with the memories of his long lost betrothed girl child.

Her distant memory drove him to search and rescue. The death of StinkPod drove him to the Caverns of Madness. Mushrooms drove him to face the realities and the torments of his inner sadness and sorrows.

StinkPod had appeared to Loco in the Caverns of Madness imploring him to resume his destiny of search and rescue.

His betrothed appeared to him there as well begging him to find her for she would always be his.

Mushrooms played their part in these visions and more.

Loco had made his decision and had made his vow. His deity of Nature would help guide him. Mushrooms were the gifts of his deity that enabled him to cope and gain valuable insights into the course of his destiny.

So this day, Loco chose to follow the path set before and track the trail of whoever, or whatever was responsible for the grief inflicted upon the Khords this day.

Besides, a wedding festival had been interrupted, and such an affrontery to the Khord way of life was unforgiveable.

Loco would wreak proper vengeance in behalf of the offended Khords, or he would die trying!

But the Cleric was Not Quite Alone as he followed the trail on the path between the mushrooms.

His Bag of Tricks contained some fuzzy balls that would spring to life to aid him against any danger.

As Loco proceeded further down the path he reached into his bag with his left hand and petted each of the balls while whispering encouragement to each one that they would have their opportunity to assist him or others in danger.

He was ready to pull one forth and fling it towards whatever danger presented itself.

While in his right hand the Cleric clutched a Frost Grenade that would greet any attacker within 10 feet of the Cleric.

Not Quite Alone indeed ...

Subject: Okay Nomad ...

..... be sure to check what has transpired in Round 6 in Land of Xenophobia.

I decided to configure and post for the Fuzzy Wolverine, Bumble Brew and ThunnGarr the Mighty so that the rest of you can make a better informed decision on which Ant or Ants to attack.

Remember that after this round the Unconscious Ants will rise up and begin to attack on Turn 2 Combat Round 1 with 2hp of active life.

The Giant Ants also have the Initiative so they will attack first.

Everyone Please Consider the Following as Insight from Your Combat Experience or Deities or Both that you can incorporate into your next role play post in Land of Xenophobia:

Sir Yder will Kill Ant 2 row 3 if he decides to attack that Ant.

Ullrich has the ability to Kill Ant 1 row 4 if he moves up 10 feet or 2 squares and engages the Ant with his Short Sword and his Sylvan Long Sword. The outcome will depend upon the roll of the dice of course, but he is guaranteed to render the Ant Unconscious and if it does survive it will only have 2hp of life left to attack and then will probably Die from another attack on Turn 2 Combat Round 1.

If Cunning Fox would use one of his Arrows to help Ariane he is in position where with his Native American skill he is able to Kill the Ant 4 row 3 that is between Shandra and Ariane. Then he could pick another target to weaken.

That would enable Ariane to move up either 2 squares forward to attack E2 row 2 or 3 squares diagonally to engage Ant E1 row 2 and inflict some damage on either Ant.

Amberlyn will Kill Ant 4 row 4 that ThunnGarr has knocked Unconscious if she would decide to attack that Ant which is next to her top diagonal left.

Shandra could either move 2 squares forward to pursue and attack Ant 3 row 5 that previously Fumbled and Moved Back 2 squares into the line of fire of the Lightning Bolt that Bumble Brew discharged from her Staff of Power.

Her other option is to move 1 square forward and then 1 square to the right to intercept and attack Ant E2 row 2.

Mull over your options and remember that the Ants will Move and Attack First on Turn 2 Combat Round 1.

Post Your Final Decision Here in the Q&A and then I will Configure and Post the Results in an Edit for the South Enders Turn 1 Combat Round 6 that is already posted in Land of Xenophobia.

The Fuzzy Wolverine was still obeying the command from Cunning fox to "Protect Bumble Brew!" as it sniffed the Dark Arena air to locate the closest threat to the Elf Wizard.

Its sense of smell keenly attuned to the odor of the living Ants, the Fuzzy Wolverine located the nearest twitching Ant 1 row 1 that posed a possible threat to his charge.

With a low growl the Fuzzy Wolverine ran without any further hesitation and with its claws and teeth viciously ripped the life from its foe before it could rise again to threaten Bumble Brew.

Bumble Brew shuddered and ran 15 feet to her right and raised her Staff of Power with a combination of trepidation and excitement.

For whatever the reason, she was only able to channel the minimum amount of damage in another blinding flash of electricity that travelled in a straight line 100 feet long and 5 feet wide.

Ants 1 row 4, 3 row 4, 3 row 5, E2 row 2 and E1 row 2 were struck suddenly, but did not seem to be fazed by the minimum damage.

ThunnGarr the Mighty was aware of the danger advancing towards Ariane from the small procession of East End Ants that had overcome their Halfling Monk targets.

However, Ant 4 row 4 stood in his way on his right side, making it impossible for the Giant Dwarf to move into a position where he could freely throw his weapon to go to the aid of Ariane the Paladin with his Dwarven Thrower Hammer.

Ignoring the threats of Ants 1 and 3 from row 4 at his top diagonal left and right, the Giant Dwarf slammed his Shield of Bashing into Ant 4 row 4, followed by a swift bash with his Dwarven Thrower War Hammer that left his foe Unconscious with Grievous Wounds, but twitching and struggling to rise again with a renewing life emanating from the Dark Arena Dome.

Sir Yder saw the twitching Ant in the sand at his feet, but for whatever reason he made a clumsy attack with his weapon that combined with his strength and his enchanted blade was enough to Mortally Wound Ant 2 Row 3 and keep his foe from rising up against him! [Dies on T2-R1]

Ullrich could see that the Lightning Bolt blast was not as effective as everyone had hoped it would be. Counting on Sir Yder to eliminate their nearby foe, the Ranger sprang into action as he moved ahead 10 feet to prevent Ant 1 row 4 from attacking ThunnGarr or anyone else ever again.

He had become attuned to the roar of the Dark Arena crowd and the rhythm of the Ants as they tried to bite their unwilling prey.

His Short Sword cut through the air as he spun a sand dance that would bring his Sylvan Long Sword slicing with its song of death for the aggressive foes.

The Ant sank to the sands with Mortal Wounds from the double assault that guaranteed it would be unable to rise again by the aid of the life reviving Dark Arena Dome.

Amberlyn shouted a warning to her companions that some of the Ants were marching towards the South End after eliminating some of the Monks!

Notching her bow with a confident prayer to The Light to guide her arrows against her foes, the young Knight imbedded her missile with near full force of damage dealing impact into the left side of Ant E1-R2 that was 20 feet away from Ariane!

She prayed her arrow would somehow distract the Ant when it came within striking distance of the young Paladin.

Shandra quickly moved 10 feet into an attack position at the left lower diagonal of Ant E2-R2 and unleashed a vicious slash with her Dagger, followed by a swift swing of her Club that hit full force on the head of her foe, leaving it shaken and on the brink of being subdued into unconsciousness!

Ariane made a quick decision to fight alongside Shandra as the young Paladin moved 10 feet straight ahead to double team against a single foe.

Fearing for her life, but channeling her fear into a focus that delivered the Killing Blow upon the head of Ant E2-R2, her Holy Avenger Long Sword eliminated yet another foe!

Cunning Fox made sure that Ant 4-R3 would be unable to rise again to threaten either the young Monk or young Paladin as his first Arrow hit with just enough force to Mortally Wound their common foe! [Dies on T2-R1]

Without hesitation the Native American Cleric let fly his second Arrow to further diminish the threat of the approaching Ant E1-R2 that was almost certain to target Ariane in the next few moments!

All Unconscious and Grievously Wounded Ants are now rising back to life to continue their attacks against the gladiators in the Dark Arena!

The Giant Ants have the Initiative to begin their moves on Turn 2 Round 1 as they have won the Initiative over the gladiators!

..... are at full strength as they have not been hit by any weapons and yes at least one or two are in line of the Lightning Bolt when Bumble Brew moves 15 feet to her right.

It just happened to work out that way as it was not planned by me for them to be in line of the Bolt.

That Ant will still be alive even when hit by the Bolt, so if Ullrich wants to step forward and help eliminate it then so be it, or he can unsling his bow and try to help Ariane as the 2 Ants that are 15 feet from her will be able to move and then attack her next round.

ThunnGarr still has plenty of hp to survive for a while.

Subject: Spiders and Spears

Volkmar was getting increasingly aggravated at the undead creature that seemed to disregard the point of his spear.

At least spiders have sense enough to back away from the pain of a spear point ... spiders are larger and sometimes more aggressive ... but they at least get the point of what a spear can do to end their lives ... but these things ... their lives are already forfeit ... and seem to have no pain ... and my spear seems to be useless against this thing ... but another poke may stop it if I can disrupt its spine ... or some other vile part ...

The Khord spiderguard had managed to protect himself with his shield before shoving the spear into another location.

Nasty and foul smelling walking trash heap ... at least one knows what to expect from a crafty spider ... give me a natural enemy anytime ... Ghardan Aglar guide my spear anew!

Volkmar was too busy grunting under the strain of the undead against his spear to vocalize either his disgust or his prayer to his war deity.

Then he heard the cry of alarm that more shambling undead were following their trail and it was time to break off their attacks and run for their lives.

The Khord had made his decision to stand his ground and finish the fight. When he was certain that his friends were out of danger then he too would follow their trail, confident that even a Khord of his stature could elude these shambling undead if he were forced to abandon the battle to fight another day.

Topic: Q & A ~ Land of Xenophobia ~
Subject: Regarding Healing

Cunning Fox has a Cure Light Wounds spell that can help Bumble Brew when there is a lull in the action.

He and Ariane have the Cure Critical Wounds wands that can help restore ThunnGarr later as well as restore Ariane when needed.

If you read closely you noticed that the Unconscious Cleric #2 is also twitching, which means if Ariane or anyone else was reduced to between 0 and minus 6 points that at the end of 6 Combat Rounds they would be revived along with any foes in the same condition.

This was meant to be a surprise if it happened to anyone, but now you know!

Rising again will give either friend or foe a +1hp at the end of Combat Round 6 and at the end of each succeeding round if still active will gain another +1hp, so any Ants rising up can be easily nullified, but they get the initiative on the first combat round.

Such is the arcane machinations of the Dark Arena Dome!

If I am not mistaken, Ariane the Paladin can lay hands on Shandra and impart +2hp to restore the 2 she lost, but I have to double check when I get home.

You will have the opportunity between the Ants and the second Wave of opponents to minister healing and also you will be able to claim some of the weapons that the Dead Monks had in their backup piles!

This is because there will be more extra weapons than the remaining Monks will be able to use!

They do have some Arrows so fire away with yours!

When I update tonight you will discover from the synopsis that some more gladiators have been eliminated by the Ants!

Topic: Q & A ~ Land of Xenophobia ~
Subject: Okay ...

..... this will be off the top of my head as my notes are at the house and I am at the office.

Warning: All the Twitching Ants will Rise again at the end of Combat Round 6 and will be able to move and/or attack beginning on Turn 2 Combat Round 1.

This development was meant to be a surprise to anyone not following the previous clues.

Ant 4 row 3 between Shandra and Ariane is still twitching!

*** So Ariane needs to strike that Ant one more time and it will either Die or be Mortally Wounded and will not be able to rise up at the end of round 6.

Ant 2 row 3 between the top diagonal right of Sir Yder and the top diagonal left of Ullrich is also twitching with renewed life!

*** So as suggested Sir Yder can attack that Ant and hopefully Kill it or Mortally Wound it [forgot how many negative points it has!] cause if he fails to do so it will rise up and attack the next round as the Ants have the Initiative for Turn 2 Combat Round 1.

The remaining 4 Active Ants include Ant 3 row 5 at the top diagonal left of Shandra!

*** So Shandra needs to dispatch that Ant also and if it does not get Mortal Wounds or Die it will rise up!

Ant 4 row 4 is to the right of ThunnGarr and at the top diagonal left of Amberlyn!

*** ThunnGarr will clobber that Ant and hopefully Kill it so that Amberlyn can turn her attention elsewhere!

Ant 1 row 4 is 3 squares/15 feet in front of Ullrich and at the top diagonal left of ThunnGarr the Mighty!

Ant 3 row 4 is at the top diagonal right of ThunnGarr the Mighty!

***** These 2 Ants are in the direct line of fire of another Lightning Bolt from Bumble Brew!

She will move 15 feet to her right and that Bolt will pass over every square for 100 feet or 20 squares, so if anyone is in the way they will be struck also!

Another Warning: From the West Enders Triple Tragedy post you should be aware that Monk #1 and Monk #2 are now dead and that some of those Ants would be marching towards Ariane and Shandra!

Afterall, the helms of Sir Yder and Amberlyn are buzzing with the info!

So Hopefully I will be able to type a synopsis of all these developments and more sometime tonight in about maybe 10 hours or so!

Therefore, it may be wise for Ullrich, Cunning Fox and Amberlyn to be prepared to fire Arrows!

This info will be verified after I update the synopsis posts as all this is off the top of my head from what I remember having happened through Combat Round 6 from the Ant attacks at all 4 ends of the arena!

..... Hingatuli still prefers going to the camp.

My thinking is that the camp is abandoned and the Orcs have gone on to other areas and would not be lingering about as there is a plan to attack other areas.

This would provide one good night's sleep and the opportunity to gather any clues and especially any hints from our dieties if we take some time of devotion.

I think that if we head through the woods, go to the ford or wherever that we will end up in a night fight or dawn fight before we are really prepared for a fight.

But I will go with whatever the group decides on direction.

..... that for the sake of Game Speed that a synopsis of what happens with the others would suffice rather than including the blow by blow info.

That would certainly be acceptable with me as it would reduce some of the time it takes for me to type in the info and go to my notes and mark the results for later reference.

If no one else objects I will start implementing her suggestion tonight to facilitate game play and I have tomorrow off so maybe I can at least write up in my notes on pad and paper what transpires further.

What I will probably do is just write if any Ants or Gladiators are knocked unconscious or Killed each round.

Therefore I will also try to write a synopsis of what Bumble Brew the Fuzzy Wolverine and ThunnGarr will do on Turn 1 Combat Round 6 so that the rest of you can decide what you will do.

I will refer to what Nomad wrote in the Q&A and then verify what ThunnGarr will do.

Cunning Fox is the only one standing next to his pile of weapons, so if the rest of you want to fire Arrows at the advancing Ants then you will have to move to the square behind your original starting square!

All my stuff is at home or I would just go ahead and write the synopsis info here at the office today!

All the stunned Ants were twitching more rapidly than the Ants that were knocked Unconscious, but the Clerics at each end of the line did not have the luxury of observing their return to active attack status.

Ants 1 row 2, 2 row 2, 1 row 3 and 2 row 3 rushed upon Cleric #1 simultaneously, but the Gnome Cleric was able to dodge and twist as they all missed their intended target.

Ant 2 row 3 somehow stumbled as it lunged forward to bite the Cleric and missed the Gnome entirely, but was off balance and bit itself, inflicting minor damage to its lower right front appendage!

Cleric #2 was not so fortunate as Ant 1 row 4 lunged and missed, but succeeded in herding the Gnome towards Ant 2 row 4 that bit him viciously on the upper left arm with two thirds damage dealing ability!

The Gnome lost consciousness as he slowly sank to the Dark Arena sands beneath him, but Ant 1 row 5 made no move to attempt to strike him as it merely stared blankly at his twitching form!

Ant 3 row 4 had no such reservation as it bit the twitching Gnome on his left shoulder, inflicting half its damage dealing ability, leaving the Gnome Cleric twitching with Grievous Wounds!

Cleric #3 easily dodged and evaded the attempted bites from Ants 2 row 5 and 3 row 5, while Cleric #7 at the other end of the line evaded three of his four attackers!

Ant 4 row 5, 5 row 5 and 4 row 4 were unable to strike their target, but Ant 5 row 4 succeeded in biting his right arm with two thirds damage dealing ability!

Cleric #8 managed to evade Ants 3 row 3, 4 row 3 and 5 row 3 as he positioned himself to strike back at his nearest weakest foe!

Meanwhile, the 7 Giant Ants that had been stunned previously were now revived with renewed vigor as they marched into positions to attack the unengaged Gnomes!

Ant 3 row 2 positioned itself between Clerics #3 and #4, Ant 4 row 2 stood in front of Cleric #4 and Ant 5 row 2 moved between Clerics #4 and #5.

Ant 1 row 1 moved to the top right diagonal of Cleric #4 and top left diagonal of Cleric #5, while Ant 2 row 1 moved directly in front of Cleric #5.

Ant 3 row 1 positioned itself between the top right diagonal of Cleric #5 and the top left diagonal of Cleric #6, while Ant 4 row 1 stood face to face in front of Cleric #6.

Now each Cleric was facing his own personal dangerous challenge without the hope of any immediate aid from any Gnome teammates!

Cleric #1 swung his Club with near maximum damage dealing force as he knocked Ant 1 row 3 Unconscious with Grievous Wounds, but it immediately began twitching!

Cleric #2 lay Unconscious with Grievous Wounds, but was twitching in the same manner as the fallen Giant Ants!

Cleric #3 attacked Ant 3 row 5 with a massive blow from his Club that Mortally Wounded his foe! It was beyond the twitching power to be restored to life and would die in three more rounds!

Cleric #7 only managed half damage with his Club, but it was enough to render Ant 4 row 4 Unconscious with Grievous Wounds! But in mere seconds it began twitching with renewed life as it was struggling to rise again!

Cleric #8 chose to smash Ant 3 row 3 with his Club, but his foe remained standing after absorbing the half damage dealing blow!

Cleric #4 swung his Club with the minimum damage dealing ability that glanced off the right appendage of Ant 4 row 2 as it stood in front of him mocking his efforts!

Cleric #5 connected with half damage dealing ability as his Club drove hard into the right side of Ant 2 row 1, knocking his foe Unconscious, but it immediately began twitching as were all the other Unconscious Ants!

Cleric # 6 fared a hair better against Ant 3 row 1 as his Club bashed its skull with enough force to knock it to the Dark Arena sands Unconscious with Grievous Wounds! Then it too began the unnerving twitching as if it were determined to rise to fight again!
