Subject: No End In Sight

My Fellow InnMates, it is now March 1st and I am still far from finished writing my Bible Teaching Book; therefore, it is with Great Reluctance that I must announce that I will be taking an 'Indefinite Leave of Absence' from the Inn!

My Apologies to the Players in 'Treasure Seekers' and all the GMs in whose games I can no longer participate as an Active Player!

I will still Lurk as my time allows and probably continue Voting for the Inn, but other than that I must devote my Time and Creative Energies to my Real Life Writing!

Subject: Progressing Slowly

I made some progress yesterday, but I still have a long ways to go to complete this project in the next few days!

Thank You for NPCing my Characters and I will get the conflict resolved facing the ship in 'Treasure Seekers' as soon as I make enough headway on my Real Life writing!

Subject: My Apologies

My Apologies to each DM and the Players in the games where I have a PC Character and also to the Players in my 'Treasure Seekers' game!

I have been channeling my writing creativity into a Bible Teaching book that will be published a few short weeks after I get the final writing finished that I am currently working on!

It has taken longer than expected and I am focused on getting finished before I have to attend some meetings locally from the evening of Sunday February 16th and then mornings and evenings Monday thru Friday the 17th thru the 21st of February!

If I am able to post something by the weekend in any and all games then I will do so!

Again, My Apologies, but I have a Major Priority at hand and there are a few folks who know about the book who have already expressed interest in buying copies, so I need to focus on finishing writing the Teaching and the Introductions this week hopefully!

At least the two books written for children do not have to have any additional writing from me!

Just waiting on the artwork for that combined volume!

Additionally, these books are being printed by a friend of mine who has started a new publishing company for Christian authors, so he has already informed me that my Teaching Book is currently the 'Show Case Book' for his new company, so I must get it finished as soon as possible!

He is working on other books for other authors, including himself, but keeps telling me that my book is the 'Show Case' for his new company!

Hopefully the Questions were enough to get some interesting answers and insights from Simon and his gang!

Thanks Ayrn, for the format example in the Q/A (I had assumed that it had totally quit raining!)

Subject: Questions and Answers

Oltovian helped himself to the hospitality of a tasty lunch offered by Weldon and his sons, then seated himself where he could keep a close eye on Simon and his gang.

The Talespinner enjoyed the first several mouthfuls, chewing thoughtfully, before making a bit of cordial small talk with Weldon and his sons.

>>Insert response from Weldon and his sons<<

After cleaning his plate, the River Otter stood up, looked around rather indifferently, then drew closer to Simon and his captured gang members.

"You boys should be grateful that Mr Weldon convinced me to spare your lives!"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

"Time for some questions boys and depending upon your answers, I may include you boys in one or more of my Tales!"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

"You boys have any more gang members besides the two deserters the Abbey Scouts are tracking?"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

"You boys have a hideout, or are you all just vagabonds?"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

"You boys ever do any business around the Quarry or around Stormhollow?"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

"You boys have any rival gangs crowding your territory?"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

"You boys ever hear tell of the Legendary Owl named Shadow?"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

"There any place in Alder Vale where you boys are scared to show your faces?"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

"Where do you boys figure the safest place is for you and your gang to hide?"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

Oltovian looked each of the captives in the eyes, as he withdrew his dagger and pointed at each of them, staring intently into the eyes of each captive, before sheathing his weapon once more.

"You boys better be thanking Mr Weldon that I spared your lives again!"

>>Insert response from Simon and his gang<<

Oltovian turned to Weldon and his sons, allowing a sly grin to crease his solemn features as he asked them, "You gentlemen have any tasty fruit drink that might wash away the distaste in my throat from the answers given by these boys?"

>>Insert response from Weldon and his sons<<

"Thank You Kindly Gents!"

The River Otter withdrew himself from the group, reached for something else to eat, then strolled to a better vantage point to quietly meditate upon the answers given by Simon and his gang, while awaiting the return of his fellow Abbeybeasts.

From the time the 'Fire Wand' was discovered there were only 5 Charges remaining!

Ironically, Areldor was able to use it wisely and had enough to take out 3 of the 4 Orcs On Rocs!

Topic: Treasure Seekers
Subject: Fire in the Sky

As Captain Crayfish ordered his Stout Hearts to row for their lives towards the short dock leading to the stairs that ascend to the Port City of Orgstall, his first mate Dagger pointed with his right hand towards the advancing Orcs On Rocs, while shouting to Areldor to ”Unleash the Fury of the Fire Stick!” … while simultaneously motioning with his left hand towards Tohmas to Hold Steady with His Bow!

Meanwhile, the young Rogue named Amur was feverishly handing out cross bows and bolts to the Stout Hearts in hopes of saving their lives!

The Elf Ranger named Damar, being the new addition to The Seekers, surveyed the situation with battle tested eyes and a distaste for Orcs, notching an arrow to make ready for an opportunity to add more Orcs to his long list of slain foes.

He stationed himself at a vantage point where he could observe his fellow Seekers and the Stout Hearts, without imposing himself upon anyone's battle space. He managed a heart felt grin as he observed Mylos preparing for an obvious new experience in the realm of battle!

Mylos knew what an Orc was, as did most of the races of Airhde, but what was a Roc. He scanned the horizon but could see no enemy upon the sea. Only when the other crew members begun pointing into the sky did he look up and see the magnificent, winged creatures. A thrill of terror went through him and he was reminded of the magnificent maelstrom he had witnessed and how he had come to terms with his own death. The fear was still there, a niggling worry, but he didn’t feel the need to run. He had friends with him, comrades of a hard voyage. He would stand fast. His bolts would fly true. So this was courage he thought to himself, the thing I have read about in story books, the feeling heroes have in the times of danger.

In the heat of inevitable oncoming battle, Jaufre somehow found enough of his 'sea-legs' to turn his undivided attention away from the railing.

Looking to the sky, he noted the plumes of smoke arising from the Port City of Orgstall, covering the area above the city like a protective blanket, which seemed to somehow cause the Rocs to be repelled from flying over and attacking the city; thus turning their attention to The Toothless Dragon, as the ship approached the harbor.

No longer concerned by the domination of thoughts about the uncertain condition and hopeful restoration of his sister, the Paladin of Cedrus called upon his deity for protection and guidance during the approaching battle!

Whether it was a matter of deities protecting their servants, or some unknown enhancement unleashed from the 'Fire Wand' brandished by Areldor, in a matter of mere moments it became apparent that the tide of battle was turning in favor of the Seekers!

No sooner had the first Roc flown within 400 feet of The Toothless Dragon, a Ball of Fire erupted from the extended 'Fire Wand', exploding upon the underbelly of the great bird of prey!

Flames engulfed its feathers and quickly spread to its Orc rider, causing the boulder to drop harmlessly from its claws! The Roc let out an agonizing shriek that mingled with that of its surprised rider, causing both to plummet to the water below, where their cries were silenced at the cost of their lives!

The second Orc Rider was more concerned about the first boulder failing to crush the timber of the wooden ship, than he was for his own safety, or the safety of his great bird of prey!

Cheers arose from the deck of The Toothless Dragon as the second Orc and Roc were consumed with flames from the 'Fire Wand' brandished by the Illusionist of Minerva; once again causing the boulder brandished in its claws to miss the mark of its intended target by a wide margin, as mount and rider were quickly dispatched to a watery grave!

The Stout Hearts pressed their advantage by rowing with renewed vigor towards the short dock at the foot of the stairs leading to the Port City of Orgstall.

The third and fourth Orc Riders guided their mounts back towards the mainland, circling high overhead and conversing with each other, before the third Orc Rider urged his Roc towards The Toothless Dragon, while the fourth Orc Rider decided to circle around the ship for an attack from the rear!

Although this tactic seemed to be a good strategy for the Orc Riders, the Illusionist Areldor had more than enough precious seconds to dispatch both threats from the air!

Another burst of fire and an explosion of flames resulted in yet another enemy casualty, as the Orc Rider and his Roc plummeted to their deaths, as had the first two!

The scorched boulder missed its target by a wide margin!

As the fourth and final Orc Rider guided his mount within range, the Seekers and Stout Hearts prepared to vent a lusty collective cheer!

Areldor took aim, with plenty of seconds to spare, to eliminate the final threat to their safe landing!

Their collective eyes and ears witnessed a puff of cloudy smoke emanating from the tip of the 'Fire Wand', followed by a hollow sounding PFFFfffffffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt …..

Subject: Respect for Violet

"Hold your reptiles, Oltovian!" Violet called, "They have a head start; charging after them won't let you catch up to them. They'll just keep running." She noted.

Of all his companions, it was Violet that Oltovian was prone to listen to in most cases, understanding that the 'Flying Scout' held a mutual disdain for bandits and vermin, more so than anybeast.

"I can track them and find out where their hidey hole is, perhaps see what there is to be found out." Violet offered, still looking at the paw prints in the mud.

Pausing to consider his choices, the Talespinner found her offer to be more than agreeable, given his alternatives in the face of the current circumstances.

"Please do so fair Violet," replied the River Otter, slightly bowing graciously before his friend, "I will return to the wagons and await your report."

I will not always remain at the Abbey, so only Weldon will be able to stay my blades, as I am a guest on his wagon!

The mole leapt down from the wagon.

"Ye friends be right," he spoke to Oltovian. "This beast ain't taken nothin' from ye, and killin 'im ain't gonna give ye back what ye lost. Let others, with clearer 'eads determine 'is fate."

Oltovian considered cutting the neck or face of the bandit to emphasize his disdain, as he withdrew the dagger from Simon's throat, but decided rather to pursue the two that had fled from the wagons mere moments ago!

"As you wish friend Weldon, but there be two fugitives who must answer for their misdeeds!"

Humming to himself, the River Otter set out to follow after the two fugitives!

“Oh dear!” Says Ivan with a dramatic air of dread. “Not this room! This is where that thing with the claws and the fangs and the hey hey hey came out of that block there. Better arm yourselves fast dudes because we are going have company.”

As soon as Ivan says that, suddenly all the black portals in the room flicker and disappear, leaving only stone walls where they once were. You have no exits anymore.

Being one of the first of the companions to enter the room, the Knight of Holy Anger quickly looked left and then right, before breaking into a run, spurred on by the outcry of Ivan!

Gamard the Grim made a beeline to his right for the Slings and Stones!

OOC:
He grabs a Sling and Two Pouches of Stones (if he is allowed to grab two pouches ??), before breaking into a run across the room (without any hesitation) to where the Maces, Flails & Clubs are on the racks!

Securing the Sling and Stones, the Khord made a beeline for the racks of Maces, Flails & Clubs, hoping that Solanis would shine favorably upon the Knight of Holy Anger, enabling his short legs to carry him across the room, before some foe emerged from the block in the center of the room!

"Solanis ... I Thank You for Providing Weapons ... Protect Me!"

Knowing that Solanis only allowed the use of Blunt Weapons, the Khord Cleric was hoping there was enough time to properly equip himself, before any danger entered the room!

OOC:
Gamard grabs a Club (for swinging or throwing) and then grabs a Mace if time allows!

If he is able to add a Mace, he secures it into his belt, as he trots to an advantageous position in the upper right hand corner of the room, where he sets his quarterstaff and club against the wall on either side of him (quarterstaff to his left and club to his right --- as he positions himself in the upper right hand corner of the room) --- withdrawing 3 Stones so he can cast Magicical Stone upon them to defend himself and his companions with an offensive missile attack manuever!

[The Masons’ Way, northeast of the Murkenhill Forks, Mid Spring, Year 54 AR, present time, late morning.]

Oltovian leapt from the wagon, pulling his rapier and dagger free, advancing upon the fallen Simon to separate the bandit from his twin swords!

My father ... my mother ... died at the hands from ones such as these!

Oltovian glared at Simon, putting both his dagger (left hand) and rapier (right hand) to the exposed throat of the bandit, who mere moments before had threatened to rob the wagon train and the Abbey Volunteers with extreme force!

"Mr Weldon Sir! Does the bounty reward on Simon Crag specify his being delivered dead ... or alive?

"Both my parents were slain ... and I was left for dead ... when I was eight seasons young ... by bandits or vermin ... who had no value for the lives of others!

"I will end his worthless life now ... unless you sir have an objection ... to my avenging the loss of my parents ... from foebeasts such as he?"

OOC:
Oltovian will spare the life of Simon Crag, only if Weldon responds to his question that a reward for his bounty will only be collected if Simon Crag is delivered alive!

Otherwise, the River Otter will slit Simon's throat, to help avenge the memory of his dead parents!

"Aye Friend Mal," responded the Khord Cleric of Solanis to the proposal put forth by the Swashbuckler, "Ivan must be shown that Ten Beasties are no reason to hide!"

Gamard the Grim studied the countenance of each of his shipwrecked comrades, before allowing a smirk of satisfaction to curl at the corners of his mouth.

"What Say Ye Friend Crow?"

The Knight of Holy Anger was agreeable enough to listen to any reasonable plan of search and destroy!

"Ye Have Five Arrows and a Bow Friend Crow," stated Gamard as he lifted his own quarterstaff high and then pointed it in the direction of the stairs and the adventure waiting beyond the beckoning portal, "What Plan of Action Would Ye Propose?"
