Rough Description of Orgstall

Consider the light green area on the south side more like a fishing village and a center for cargo trade.

[This is due to its close proximity to both Orgstall and the Unkwood River, from whence goods are sent downriver from the Elven Commuity at Renuel -Aet-Faus on Lake Faus and from the Dwarven Communities around Dunulag (Deep Home).

Likewise, consider the light green area on the north side a combination of fishing, farming and hunting (for food and furs).

Both areas have been devastated: what village building structures are visible are burnt down and obviously have been laid waste longer ago, rather than recently!

The plume of smoke is emanating from behind the natural stone walls at the top of the cliff noted by the black circle labeled Orgstall.

The actual Port City of Orgstall is comprised of about One Third of the Black Circle.

Buildings are made of Stone and Timber, because the other two thirds of the Black Circle comprise areas where Timber has been harvested for Trees and in turn becomes Farm Land.

A much wider area at the back end of the Black Circle is a Quarry where Stones for Building are harvested and also a vein of Gold and Jewels are excavated by a Community of Dwarves and other Races who work together in harmony with the landscape!

Orgstall is governed by a Mayor (mainly a spokes person) who presides over a committee that is representative for each of the Races in the city and the commerce representatives.

So even though the Map does not exactly show the boundaries, it should be understood that the Port City of Orgstall is surrounded on three sides by the water in the Harbor and separates the Trees and Light Green Areas mentioned above!

Also, the Quarry is actually set in a small mountain that protects the rear of the main city.

The Stairway leading up to the walled city is located on the south side and there are also Gated Paths from the Quarry area that lead to the west and northeast of the city into the forests!

Any Survivors from the Light Green Areas have retreated to the Walled City for refuge to help defend the city, or have banded together to carry the fight into the forests to the north and south.

Also, some have set out to fight their way to the Elven City of Renuel-Aet-Faus to reinforce their neighbors, while trying to keep the trade route open!

However, all their boats have either been sunk, or have made a journey up the Unkwood River to aid the Elves and Dwarves to the west of Orgstall.

Some of this is speculation by Dagger, Captain Crayfish and the Stout Hearts from their personal experience in battles past that they have lent their aid to!

Any Other Questions ???

Subject: Have a Holly Jolly Christmas

I do realize that the Christmas Holiday is about two weeks away and that everybody will be busy in one way or another!

Tuned has exams probably and others are busy too!

So the above information was provided with the Hints to give everyone plenty of info to work with on Posts and also to hopefully provide me with some tactics in your Game Post and here in the QnA section!

I will be busy getting the Character Info updated over the next few days, so please post at your convenience!

Ideally, my preference is for everyone to have a Good Quality Post submitted in Game before the Christmas Holidays and also that I have enough info to go ahead and write the outcomes of dealing with the ORCS On ROCS and at least getting ashore to make the climb up the stairs, possibly finding out what the party is facing!

As mentioned earlier, I am not rushing you or pressuring you to write a post, but I would prefer having a Good Quality Post to work with before Christmas arrives!

Subject: Clarification

Galardil does not want to waste too many spells for combat or using the 'Invisible to Undead', in case he needs the majority of his allotment to bring health and healing to one or more members of the party!

Besides, he has fought alongside his allies and they have battled their way to victory against impossible odds before!

Subject: Third Hint

Hint Three
There were two ships that went to Orgstall a couple of weeks before The Toothless Dragon got underway!

Those two ships had armed warriors who were sent by Mad Dog Muldoon to help garrison the Port City of Orgstall and possibly help secure the surrounding area, in case there were any evil forces approaching, or trying to surround or lay siege to the city!

As you approach the harbor from a great distance, well aware that the ORCS On ROCS are fast approaching The Toothless Dragon, you can tell that the two ships (that bore those warriors in the employ of Mad Dog Muldoon) are slowly sinking into the bay!

This gives you a clue that perhaps the current siege against Orgstall has only just begun ???

Also, there are no other boats in the bay!

No Cargo Ships and No Fishing Boats!

Therefore, providing a clue that Orgstall has been plagued by several previous attacks, or the other boats in the bay have already sunk, as these two aforementioned ships were much larger than any of the other boats here!

Hope that helps set the scene, because there is No Map!

Subject: Hints

Dagger, Captain Crayfish and the crew of Stout Hearts have all been to Orgstall numerous times, so whatever questions you may have that would help you in your posting, then Please Feel Free to Go Ahead and Ask Here!

First Hint
During the voyage you have been informed that The Toothless Dragon has been riding much lower in the water, because the hold is filled with loads and loads of food, farming tools, mining tools and forestry tools (such as axes) as an act of good will from Mad Dog Muldoon and the city of Heristat, along with a couple of sacks of gold coins to be distributed to the poor and needy!

Priority here is to help establish or re-establish the trade between Orgstall and Heristat ie Mad Dog Muldoon, because the treasures sent to him have steadily dwindled over the past two years!

This act of kindness will benefit the Seekers with ready made allies who are willing to help them!

Creates a Bond of Trust between the Seekers and the populace!

[They already favor the Stout Hearts and especially Dagger, along with Captain Crayfish]

Reason is because they have aided this Port City in times past, when evil was afoot and Dagger was there a few times during The Great Wars (as your characters will discover soon enough when you reach the surviving populace with the supplies!)

Hint Two
You have been informed that a natural harbor surrounds the city on three sides!

The ship has to anchor, or be tied up, near some stairs that ascend to the natural stone walls at the top of a small cliff, overlooking the bay and the surrounding woods, where the populace gets their wood etc.

It has been about 3 years since the Stout Hearts have been to the Port City of Orgstall with the captain and first mate (Dagger), so they do not know exactly how things are faring now!

The new post 'Soaked at Sea was originally planned to be all inclusive in my first UpDate, but it seemed to be getting a bit lengthy; plus I wanted to post so everyone was aware that the adventure was continuing!

Anyway, it should be noted that Orgstall is currently under siege, but you do not know exactly how long the city has been under attack, because you are still at sea!

Thankfully, you are bringing Food and Weapons that will aid the populace in defending their city!

Assuming of course that you heroes are able to reach them!

Subject: Snowed In a Little

Yesterday we were snowed in a little and I was going to update the character info, but ended up writing the UpDate as you all have hopefully read by now!

Anyway, post your game updates in the next few days, there is plenty of info for backstory writing, plus you all managed to weather the storms at sea!

Looks like you may be in the remains of Orgstall for a while, depending upon what you find surviving there?

However, it does look like you may have to Fight your way in, but I am not giving away any clues

Just trying to post an observation from a Lurker point of view!

Subject: Soaked at Sea

The Toothless Dragon slowly made its way up along the northern coastline of Ebensfield Downs towards the Castle Aachen, in an effort to put as much distance as possible between The Toothless Dragon and the islands of Tagea and Ioni.

The skies had clouded over and the winds were blowing erratically, impeding the progress of the war ship, as it made its way along the coastline northward for nearly 100 miles.

After a day or two, the passing of day and night were almost imperceptible, as the dark clouds imprisoned the sun and blue skies overhead for as far as the eyes could see!

Then came the torrential downpours of slicing rains!

This was not uncommon to Captain Crayfish, Dagger nor the crew of Stout Hearts who were experienced by their years of traversing the high seas of the Sea of Shenal; however, the Seekers were not accustomed to such conditions and had to make the best of a most uncomfortable situation!

At the beginning of the voyage, they were content to scan the coastline, making sure that there were no signs of enemy movements encroaching upon their homelands, but as the sun was blotted out and the darkness gave way to torrential rains, it was all they could do to ride out the storms!

About the fourth day, the Stout Hearts were able to guide The Toothless Dragon in a westerly direction, against the high winds and tossing waves, while the torrential rains beat down upon them as they gritted their teeth and bent their backs to the task confronting them!

They told stories and encouraged one another, making light of the fact that the waters were nigh treacherous, but their songs of mirth and gusto had a calming effect upon the Seekers, who found themselves joining in on occasion!

The Toothless Dragon was tossed north and south, east and west, but somehow the Stout Hearts found the means to get back on course and slowly advance the ship westward. It was a marvelous thing to behold, how the crew knew just when to allow The Toothless Dragon to be driven by the winds and tossed by the waves, before renewing their efforts to guide the ship relentlessly towards their destination!

Dagger was focused upon helping navigate the ship and Captain Crayfish always seemed to know exactly which direction on the compass the ship was being driven!

About the sixth day at sea, there was an extreme test of courage for the captain and the crew, when the rains seemed to dissipate, only to reveal a massive whirlpool that was urging The Toothless Dragon to succumb to its watery embrace of the grave!

However, the Stout Hearts were not novices to this type of danger on the high seas!

It seemed to be a battle of wills for the better part of another day, but the crew of The Toothless Dragon prevailed against the elements as they slowly guided the ship to the west of the watery trap, before another deluge of the elements tried to drive the ship back towards a watery grave!

Undaunted, the Stout Hearts prevailed against the elements once more, as they guided The Toothless Dragon ever westward in their quest to traverse the Sea of Shenal, while the company of Seekers could only trust in the prowess of the crew and their individual deities, to grant them safe passage across the turbulent waters!

Fortunately, none of the gear, nor any of the provisions, were lost to the wind swept seas!

The Toothless Dragon had been built for such rigorous conditions and seemed to fare much better in adversity, than it did when the waters were much calmer!

The party of Seekers were comforted in their distress by the fact that Mad Dog Muldoon had given each member a Ring of Sustenance; especially when the seventh day had passed and they became aware that they did not need to eat or sleep as much to keep up their individual strength and courage in the midst of the driving rains and howling winds!

Several days followed with the ship being tossed north and south, as very little progress was made towards the west. If there were any streams of projectile vomit coating the deck of the ship, the driving rain swept the deck clean, before any trace of vomit could make its presence known!

Thankfully, the raging storm settled into a driving drizzle of stinging rain, pelting the ship and crew mercilessly, in the aftermath of its seeming unnatural efforts to sink the ship at sea!

Within two more days, land was sighted as The Toothless Dragon passed well south of the island of Thuleya, caressed by the warming Aprero winds that bid the raging storm goodbye!

The next day they beheld a marsh land north of the Twilight Wood, where they marveled at the spectacle of a large number of Barbarian Warriors in heated battle against a hostile tribe of migrating Hill Giants; however, the crew of The Toothless Dragon were not swayed by the circumstances to put into shore to join the battle!

Especially when several large boulders were hurled into the surf by a handful of Hill Giants, obviously as a warning to leave them be to their battle against the Barbarian Warriors, as the crew of The Toothless Dragon bent their oars and put further out to sea, giving the scene of battle a wide berth, as they shouted words of encouragement to the Barbarian Warriors and epithets of derision against the hostile Hill Giants as the ship slowly passed from view!

They kept an ever increasing wide berth from the shores of the Twilight Wood, noting strange sounds emanating from the depths of the foreboding trees, along with an occasional terrified scream!

Once or twice the Seekers thought they heard the faint sound of steel upon steel, but they were not certain, as their minds and ears began playing tricks upon them as they passed along the coastline!

Besides, they had preparations to make, having seen the evidence of conflict along these western shores, as The Toothless Dragon drew ever nearer to Orgstall.

After another day passed, with even more ominous sounds emanating from beyond the western shores, the Seekers and Stout Hearts were admonished by both Dagger and Captain Crayfish, to get a good night's sleep, as they should be arriving at Orgstall sometime after the first light of the following day!

So they all heeded this battle tested advice from their veteran leaders, settling in for a much needed time of rest and dubious relaxation, as The Toothless Dragon slowly made its way southward through the dark of night, guided by a current and the sure hands of its crew, who took turns guiding The Toothless Dragon towards its destination.

The crew began to stir a little after dawn on this Twentieth (20th) day of Aprero, as Dagger shouted to his fellow Stout Hearts and to take heed to the horizon!

In the far distance, just barely discernible to all but Dagger, could be seen an ominous plume of black smoke, rising from the foundation and walls of the Port City of Orgstall!

Squinting their eyes in the morning sun, the hardened features of the crew and Seekers were slightly caressed by a gentle breeze, as they stared in disbelief at a most unexpected sight this new Aprero morn; along with an alarming, auditory alert of ominous origin, a message urgently carried aloft by the mid spring wind: the sound of a faint clashing of weapons locked in pitched battle!

As they slowly drew nearer to Orgstall, the attention of the ever vigilant Dagger was drawn skyward to the silhouettes barely discernible in flight above the besieged city!

Holding his peace, so as not to alarm his comrades prematurely, he concentrated his focus upon the dark figures high overhead in the distance, well aware that everyone else was focused upon the lazy plume of smoke arising, as well as the now audible din of battle emanating from the city!

Both the Stout Hearts and the Seekers were preparing themselves for the imminent battle, as the crew set themselves to rowing at battle speed, chanting war songs as they rowed the ship!

Then when Dagger was totally convinced that his deductions were true, especially when he espied the four (4) dark silhouettes changing their course from above the Port City of Orgstall, transforming themselves into a staggered formation making its way towards The Toothless Dragon; the Dwarf War Cleric shouted out a blood lusting battle alarm to the Stout Hearts and Seekers, as he pointed both arms skyward towards a point high above the besieged city:

"ORCS On ROCS!"

Let There Be Light

Gamard the Grim was alert for anything out of the ordinary, as the Knight of Holy Anger surveyed the room, then focused upon the portal, ready to dispel any dark force that would follow the survivors with intent to harm!

Suddenly, the wine cellar went pitch black, as a smothering darkness engulfed the group!

Gamard swiftly turned in a half circle to his left, gripping his staff in his left hand, as he stretched forth his right arm in a sweeping gesture, in an effort to cast a 'Light' spell to reveal any hidden danger!

"Darkness Be Gone!"

(((Gamard then assumes an offensive stance with his quarterstaff in both hands, ready to strike any revealed foe!)))
