With a shrug Jason turned back to the Captain, “Jon, did you want me to check into these guys? I figure we have about six hours till they could possibly intercept us out here and that gives me plenty of time to check into a few things,” Jason shrugged his shoulders bouncing himself off the bulkhead, “Did you want me to check in with Decimus and inform him of our current plight and see about getting some ground support for the delivery or would you rather I leave the Baron in the dark on this one?” Jason asked as he crossed the bridge to the Com station, “It’s up to you Cap’n, I just work here.”

“Jason you’re the silver tongued devil of this crew when it comes to talking information out of social circles so go for it. It might not be a bad idea to compliment the Baron on his choice wine being so popular that we were offered to sell it before we got there. If he asks let him know some local named Chung must have thought he could improve his status by delivering the cargo. That should send alarms yet keep us looking innocent. I figure the Feds will be monitoring the waves so try to do it with straight face. Do your best spin. Having your Captain looking Chwen is not always a bad thing. Better they should under estimate us.”

Jon seemed to sense that Jason wasn’t that pleased with his actions, but he could live with that. Jason never had to live with sight of the dead eyes of those that paid the price for his decisions; Jon cannot get away from it. There is always risk, but the reward needs to be worth it. That just wasn’t worth risking this crew.

Subject: It all about the money.........

Modell moved the Cleveland team after "secert" talks with Baltimore. Yeah, he didn't sneak out at night but he still was just as dastardly.

He only paid 4 million for the team and only $250,000 of that was his money. He rented the Stadium from the city for $1.00 a year and through his own company and charged the Brown and Indians rent, using that money to to run the stadium. He rolled the Browns money back in so the Indians were paying big. He lost his captive tenant and didn't want to join Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex. He got a big deal from Baltimore and lined his pockets.

I'm sorry Baltimore lost the Colts, but they got a team the same way they lost one, big money for the owner.

Topic: 2011 NFL Season
Subject: The Rest of the Story.......Modell Left......

Gries Sports Enterprises lawsuit

In 1979, Stadium Corp. and Modell were implicated in a lawsuit brought by Browns minority shareholder Robert Gries of Gries Sports Enterprises, who successfully alleged that Stadium Corp. manipulated the Browns' accounting records to help Stadium Corp. and Modell absorb a loss on real property that had been purchased in the Cleveland suburb of Strongsville as a potential site for a new stadium. The lawsuit, Gries Sports Enterprises v. Cleveland Browns Football Co., 26 Ohio St. 3d 15 (1986), was a leading Ohio case concerning a corporate officer's fiduciary duty toward shareholders.
[edit] Gateway Sports project clash

Modell declined to become a tenant in Cleveland's new Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex, instead asking for improvements to Municipal Stadium. Because Modell's Stadium Corp. still controlled Municipal Stadium, it may have made more business sense for Modell to try to keep the Indians at Municipal, particularly as the baseball team began to show signs of improvement both on the playing field and at the box office. (The Indians went on to play in the World Series in 1995 and 1997, and sold out 455 straight games at Jacobs Field from 1995 until 2001.) The City of Cleveland agreed to make the improvements to Municipal Stadium which were to be funded through an extension of the sin tax, which was used to provide funding for the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex.
[edit] Modell relocates to Baltimore (1996)

While the City of Cleveland, Ohio agreed to improve Municipal Stadium, Modell issued a public moratorium on discussions relating to the stadium issue or the future of his franchise. It was during this time that Modell entered into secret discussions with the State of Maryland to move the franchise to Baltimore for the 1996 season. The announcement of the move occurred several days before the public referendum on the extension of the sin tax that would fund the improvements on Municipal Stadium as Modell had originally requested. But, Modell wrote a letter to Cleveland's mayor and Ohio's governor saying that the passing of the referendum may not be enough to keep the Browns. Modell also wanted that information to be made public. Plain Dealer Nov 7, 1995. Commentators have speculated that the timing of the announcement was to cause the referendum to go down in defeat and thus allow Modell to make the case that he was not receiving the public support he needed to remain viable in Cleveland. Nonetheless, the referendum was passed by a wide margin. Modell was assisted in the move by Alfred Lerner, who would go on to become the new owner of the reactivated Cleveland Browns franchise in 1998. Modell's move returned the NFL to Baltimore for the first time since the Colts left for Indianapolis after the 1983 season.
[edit] Hostile fan reaction to move

The reaction in Cleveland was, not surprisingly, very hostile. Modell had promised numerous times never to move the team. The Brooklyn native mentioned numerous times how saddened and betrayed he and other Brooklynites had felt when the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in 1957. He had also publicly criticized the Baltimore Colts' move to Indianapolis, and he had testified in favor of the NFL in court cases where the league unsuccessfully tried to stop Al Davis from moving the Oakland Raiders from Oakland to Los Angeles. Numerous reports of quotes from Modell circulated stating that he would not visit Cleveland during games between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns because he feared for his life and physical being.
[edit] The City of Cleveland vs. Cleveland Browns

The City of Cleveland sued Modell, the Browns, Stadium Corp, the Maryland Stadium Authority, and the authority's director, John A. Moag Jr., in City of Cleveland v. Cleveland Browns, et al., Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Case No. CV-95-297833, for breaching the Browns' lease, which required the team to play its home games at Cleveland Stadium for several years beyond 1995. Surprisingly for Modell, many Baltimore fans sympathized with Clevelanders' outrage.
[edit] Browns franchise deactivated, to resume in '99

Eventually the NFL and the parties worked out a deal. The Browns' franchise would be deactivated for three years. Modell knew the Baltimore Browns name wouldn't go over well in Baltimore. So he used the name as a bargaining chip with the NFL. He would leave behind the Browns' name, colors and heritage (including team records) for a replacement franchise, in the form of either a new team or a relocated franchise. In return, Modell was allowed to take the franchise rights, players and organization to Baltimore as the new expansion Ravens. Cleveland received a loan from the NFL to help with the cost of a new stadium. The Browns returned to the NFL in 1999 with Lerner, a friend of Modell as well as a minority owner of Modell's original franchise and MBNA CEO and owner, assuming ownership, after Lerner outbid other interested parties for the right to buy the reactivated Browns' franchise.

“Hell no Dodgers Rule Max!” Sergeant Romo bellowed back to the call sign from the hall.

Max?...Max?…., ah sh*T not another sergeant! Sergeants only call other sergeant by their first names, …great…… just great!, Doc thought to himself.

“Ah, they are all dead, you can come in now,” he called out, “you don’t happen to have a Medic over there with you do you? I’ve had a rough day.”, the voice from hall answered Romo.

Oh, good another hero full of holes.

“It’s your lucky day Cowboy, not only have we rescued your sorry bu**, but you’ve got the best Medic this side of the hallway to patch it up.”, Doc call out through the open door.

Pushing hard to get himself back on his feet, Doc readied to do what he knew how to do best,.. save heroes.

So I vote "no".

I really value your gaming knowledge and experience, but if you don't post your ideas here for me and others to clearify then we just have to move forward.

Jason and Grace are the information people. The both have their channels and that is a great help. Also Doc has her channels, but that comes from Al.

Ken is letting out that he has a bit dark background too and there's more there between the ears than he lets on.

With the holidays ending maybe we all will have more time to compare information.

If folks don't get posts in or bring out information in Q&A there isn't a lot to work with. The group was agree to avoid the encounter.

Getting out of Dodge doesn't need to be full burn, Tess's fancy flying would serve the same message and I left that open for her. And trap still smells like a trap, I saw no real gain putting the team a risk or delaying the flight.

I had asked for and would have liked to have input about the Tong at the party but that didn't happen.

Asher checked his guns as the mule slide down the road. It had been a tough night so far and it still wasn’t over. The habit of checking and loading his guns added calm to his routine. Ash felt he needed to prove he could still be count on to be there when he was needed.

Whatever it was Doc had given him was doing what it was suppose to, he was hurt’in but he could keep going.

The hovermule was in the red and the engine was running hot but Wolf didn't care as he pushed the speed to the limit. But there was only so fast that the vehicle could do without the engine blowing completely. He considered the distance they had to travel and the speed and spoke outloud to Ash, "Fifteen minutes or so. This mule wasn't built for speed unfortunately."

Looking over at Wolf, ”You don’t have to stay to road for me. If you can hold it together cutting down there,” he looked across the rocky terrain, “go for it. We gotta fight to finish.”

Subject: Shishka Brutal............

Lying on his belly Jack knew he wouldn’t be able to use his M1, he just couldn’t hold it to his damaged shoulder. He could see over the edge of the pit. Brutal was hanging from some thin iron bar. Below were spikes and deadly wire. The kid had done it again proving he’s just too damn ugly to get killed.

Hearing the German voices on the other side of the hall door Doc drew the 45’s he stretched out his right arm and held aim on the door at the far end of the room. The one in his left hand was held to switch when the other emptied.

Moments later the door slammed open and there are four german soldiers, two on their knees with rifles and two standing with machine guns in hand. Behind them are two more with pistols in hand shouting in German but you need no translation to the intent. It is a bad situation, a short corridor with both sides fully armed and it will most likely end badly for both sides.

Before Doc could start shooting gunfire erupted from down the hall. One of the machine gun soldiers goes down as he is hit by the small arm fire. Heads turn, voices scream orders and the chaos of what is happening in the room beyond takes hold.
Doc heard Corbin’s rifle roar; the head of the lead German flung back as the bullet ripped through his skull. The Germans paused in the confusion the gun fire behind them and patrol opened up. The krauts were caught in a cross fire and cut down.

The gun fire ceased and as silence of the passage return and voice from the hallway called out in English, “Go Yankees”. It was their call sign of recognition. Jack looked to Romo and then the Captain, who was going answer this guy that had just saved their collective butts?

"Answer him already so we can get the H*** out here and get Jake out of that pit before he become Shishka Brutal."

Thought I'd pop in here and add the Ody welcome.

First grab a nice fluffy towel from the end of the bar, you will need it later, trust me there.

Welcome to the Inn for the Holidays, it sounds like you will find common ground here with many of the talented folk we have here.

I'm just a Wannabe that has fun amoung the crowd of talent.

To get a better one on one with our InnMates pop into the DragonChat where I act as current resident bar tender. We offer our very own "Good Old Froth-n-Slosh", the stale pale ale with the foam on the bottom.

Just grab a mug off the mantel and draw a cold frosty one.

My assistant Igor is usually lurking around if I'm not there.

He never says anything, must have something to with having his tongue cut out by his last boss, that nasty bar tender over at the Orc Bar & Grill.
I'll have him put out a plate of "Lady Fingers" in your honor.

Reminds me we need to have another "Ladies Night" and restock.

Anyway the Posting Games are great place to get to know folks and of course the DragonChat is our favorite lounge.

So lurk or play, welcome to the Inn!

Jon was about to signal Tess to let’er rip when Chung’s reply stopped him short.

"Very Good Captain. Very Good indeed. Had you accepted my offer then you have failed my simple test and brought dishonor to your ship. I am humbled to be in the presence of one with honor. I would return this favor by telling you that your shipment may not be what you think and you are caught in a game between demonic forces. There is a moon that you will pass in less than an hour at current speed. We have a bumblebee setup there is two ports. We use it for exchanges when we don't want alliance eyes. Meet me there and we will talk? I give you my work as a representative of the 14K Tong that you will not be harmed and no force will be used against you."

As Wang did his best to charm them Jon tried hard to keep all expression from face, but having Wang admit to being Tong left him with a knot in his stomach. The Tong didn’t announce who they were, but a local thug might use their infamy to advance his personal gain.

"I assure you Captain that you are more valuable to us alive and well. We will let you land first if you'd prefer and we will arrive unarmed. Truly, I merely wish to talk to you and if I earn your trust, then perhaps I can show you what you need to know."

Looking coolly as he could Jon said,” Wuo Jai Jeong Yi Chi. (Let me repeat myself ) We have a contract and we plan to honor it. Have a good day Mr. Chung.” With that said Jon cut the wave.

(Edited)
“Tess, Jio Weh Sung Chiuh.( run away) Let's just get the hell out of here! Show these locals how this lady can dance. Save the big burn for a surprise.”

"The real Tong don't have to tell you they are the Tong; you'll know it. It's a trap!"
